The food prices in the local markets was a bit on the high side, but not enough to make us not to want to come back. Gold Beach just seems like it needs more grocery competition, that's all.

Ophir Beach, Whaleshead Beach, Arizona Beach, Bandon Beach, Pistol River, Gold beach, Port Orford beach and lighthouse, the Prehistoric Gardens, and the Oregon redwoods. All were close and very nice. Restuarants - Porthole Cafe in Gold Beach, Thai restaurant in Brookings, The Crazy Norwegian Restaurant in Port Orford. The local grocery stores in Gold Beach have a lot to offer; there's a Fred Meyer in Brookings, but we found all we needed in Gold Beach. Wonderful area. Will return here for more exploring.

Love the parks long 101 for pictures. The fish market in Gold Beach has wonderful fresh and smoked fish. The shops downtown are cute. We always have a relaxing time at the beach. The visitor center is a great spot to get information about the area.

Dinner at Spinners was nice with friendly staff and good food. We had lunch at the barnacle bistro which had great garlic fries and local fare. One of our favorite daily stops was at the local bookstore where you could enjoy yummy pastries, coffees and soft serve ice cream while browsing thousands of new and used books.

I enjoyed cooking in the house and did alot of it. The well equipped kitchen made that possible. My favorite place i have to say was in front of the fire place. I fell asleep in the living rm enjoying that fire and woke to at least 3 inches of snow outside.. That didn't stop my son and his friend from venturing out on the beach. Probly more of reason to head to the beach. Lol Jus another great part of my Son's birthday weekend at this house. I set out to give him a great coastal weekend and the house did not dissapoint. : )

Jot's Rod and Reel was a really nice place to eat, I like to get the local feel when I visit new places this was the place. Other patrons came in and I could tell right away they were home town people. The staff greeted them by name and knew almost right away what they would like to order. Everyone there knew we were the strange ones but they made us feel right at home, welcomed to Gold Beach, told some of the cool things to go see. It was like that all over town, great place look forward to my next visit.

Great beach access from the house to explore for shells, rocks,
and enjoy the sea shore. Quiet neighborhood, very secluded.
Easy drive into town for shopping. Thanks for all the great firewood.

Harris State Park is about 30 min away and has a protected beach, doesn't seem quite as windy there. Free parking in the day use area and easy access. Cedar Bend 9 hole and Salmon Run 18 hole ( cut out of the forest so bring lots of balls) reasonably priced. Spinners restaurant's parking lot was always packed so they must have good food.

This was our second trip to Gold Beach if you go you have to go on one of the Jet Boat tours up the rogue river you will not be disappointed. We also drove up the coast to North Bend and rented quads to race around the sand dunes...wish I would have stayed longer than 7 days it wasn't enough

Loved our stay! Seals and whales observed right from porch!!
Whales even breached four times. So awesome. Hot tub was superb and house was comfortable for all persons. Would suggest a privacy shade that could be rolled up and down on side with neighbors. Beach and sand was right outside. Would definitely stay again. ????????????????????????????????????????

Too windy...it seems very few if any Oregonians walk this beach, as if it was common knowledge that Gold Beach has gale-force winds. We drove over to Harris Beach for a much better experience. But paying that much for a rental, as awesome as the house itself was, and having such a windy beach was a bit of a bummer. If you could have that house on Whaleshead or Harris Beach it would be perfect.

Breakfast at Double D's restaurant in the middle of Gold beach was a fabulous place to have Breakfast or lunch. We ate there the 2 days that we were in town. In addition to the meal that is both plentiful and affordable, the owner/hostess makes you feel right at home and by the time you leave, you'll be best friends. We love you DeDe!

Found Gold Beach excellent location to see much of the south coast. We did a lot of exploring of many of the parks on the coast. We also went down to the Jedediah Smith State Park in CA to see the redwoods. We went on a beautiful drive through the park. We also enjoyed driving up the Rogue River. The jet boat tours are closed now, but this would be an ideal site if doing one.

The Gold Beach Book Store and Rachel's Coffee House are amazing!!! Even if your not that into books you can't help but fall in love with this place. I could have spent all day there. Also the closeness of Port Orferd and Brookings made it to get lots of great shopping in without having to waste a lot of time driving.
