Hiking on the OR coast in Feb. is a very muddy affair. I would advise sticking to the beach. We enjoyed the new Pelican Brewery and Restaurant in Cannon Beach.

The store is great! The road from town to our house was completely torn up, full of huge pot holes and mud everywhere. A heads up would have been nice.

Marzano's pizza, the place the tow is famous for, no longer takes seated guests. All takeout. No problem for us but might surprise some old timers. We also ate at tres locos. Decent Mexican food and cocktails.

Well we picked the weekend a tornado decided to hit the area so we unfourtantly cut our stay short. We did lose power but were pleased that there was flashlights and battery lantern available. We do look forward to coming back. The property is in a great location and very cozy.

We have always brought our dog to Manzanita and love the San Dune Pub - the outdoor area is dog friendly. Their food is always above average. We normally like Bread & Ocean, but the quality seemed to have declined.

Exploring parks/beaches nearby. W. Oswald Park is N. of Manzanita & a lovely 1/2 mile walk near a creek out to a beach surrounded by cliffs & surfers in the ocean.

Enjoyed our many walks on the beach (which was a short walk from the Cedar House). One our favorite stores in Manzanita is Salt & Paper. We always find fun nautical gifts and unique items at this store. The week night Farmer's Market is a delight.

Had a birthday dinner at Big Wave Cafe and everyone there was delightful; welcoming, caring and giving. They had excellent service and the food was delicious. Also went to Manzanita Coffee Co. to have their chai tea and marionberry scone. All of it was so good. Even lunch and the game at Sand Dune Pub was great.

Manzanita is great. Based on the property description we thought here was a an ocean view. I would not put this house under that category for other future people. The "ocean view" is a tiny sliver of what you can see from the porch.

Great location! Very quiet yet close to shops, beach, etc. Nice view from deck and kitchen area.

The house is a easy walk, downhill to the beach. Which makes it lovely to walk into Manzanita to enjoy food, drinks and shopping. The walk is 25 minutes but a flat 25 minutes.
They make great coffee at the Manzanita Espresso and news.
Manzanita Fresh Grocery is amazing. It's only a 5 minute drive from the house. They have a large selection of products including organics and various items for people with food allergies or restrictions.

Charming beach town with easy walking for food, the beach, shopping. A short drive from Buttercup (outstanding chowders and ice cream) in Nehalem and the Rising Star (don't miss pasta night if you're there on a Thursday). Short Sands beach shouldn't be missed as well as the hikes up Neakahnie Mtn and out Falcon Pt for the reasonably fit.

Every corner in the house there are delightful surprises. This lovely house is built with lots of thoughts. And is decorated nicely. It was fun to explore inside out.

Absolutely the best Mexican food is at the restaurant in the middle of town. I've been to several over my lifetime & it's worth it by far. They even had my favorite hot sauce - which you can't get in stores anymore.

Breakfast at Bread and Ocean bakery and deli is the perfect way to start the day. The hike to Cape Falcon (5 miles round trip) is wonderful. A delightful hike through an old growth forest ending with a spectacular view overlooking the rugged coastline. The trailhead is a few miles North on Hwy. 101. The Cloud & Leaf bookstore (next door to Bread and Ocean) may be the best small bookstore I've ever visited.

We loved this spot. Some of our favorite things to do were: walking to the bay, driving to Cannon Beach, the lookouts on the way to/from Cannon Beach, and the Pizza Garden Restaurant. =)

However, if you just want a place to rest and be peaceful, then this house is for you! We loved sitting on the porch, enjoyed the garden and the hummingbird that would fly through from time to time.

This place is truly the best of both worlds. You can be busy if you want to be or you can just sit back and enjoy the quiet. =)

    Daphne A.

Bread & Ocean - Great food, lots of different choices, reasonably priced, exceedingly long wait times, very disorganized, boiling hot inside the restaurant, people somewhat friendly.

El Trio Loco - Pretty Mexican food, reasonably priced, huge portions of food, fast service, friendly staff. Not always something found in Manzanita.

Manazanita News & Espresso - This place is horrible. I have never been treated so poorly in my entire life. I was ridiculed that I was from Portland, I was taunted that I wanted coffee late in the day. I was told basically to leave as they were closing. Horrid. Horrid. Horrid.

Four Paws on the Beach - This is a great little boutique store for dogs! Very quaint! Staff is super sweet and very personable. I felt like they wanted my business. Dogs allowed! If you are a dog lover, this is the place for you!

Overall, I felt like shop owners disliked tourists - be warned!

We did as much as possible! Fire and snacks on the beach in Manzanita - can't go wrong. Rented the beach cycles in Cannon Beach - super fun! The short hike into Short Sand Beach between Manzanita and Cannon Beach is well worth it! The movie rental store in Manzanita is worth a stop as well to wind down with a movie in the evenings. My 10 year old son and I rented sea kayaks in Wheeler on Nehalem Bay. This is an inexpensive excursion and the scenery and wildlife was beautiful! If I had more time I'd also plan a fishing trip here. The salmon were jumping all around us and they were BIG!

NOTE: The description of the property doesn't really do the hike to the beach justice. It is a hike there and back if you do it by foot. We did it once, but if you have stuff you are wanting to take with you to the beach it is best to drive down to the road along the beach and park.

Fabulous location. Short walking distance to the beach or local shops in town. The
house is decorated in bright cheery colors, with very nice bed linens. It has all the basic kitchen utensils, and a barbeque located on the deck.Large floor to ceiling windows that fills the area with natural light. We all enjoyed the hottub! It was perfect for our family, and would love to return to this location.

I love the Manzanita beach. You can even have a fire in the beach at night. It's a small quieter community than Cannon Beach, but close enough if you want to go there the house was great Loved having ocean views The couple we were with would have like WI FI. Not everyone can disconnect!!

Just being so close to the beach made our experience wonderful. We woke to the beautiful view of the ocean. We fell asleep to the calming sound of the waves. We walked on the shoreline. We plopped on the sand, leaning against a log and watched the sunset. Just these things made the trip worthwhile but along with these we enjoyed the town and the golf course. We also had two great hikes... One in Ecola State Park and one in Oswald State Park (the Cape Falcon trail). We will definitely come back.

Horseback riding on the beach, deli at the fifties era grocery on the main shopping street , side tours of Tillamock cheese factory .There is a friendly pharmacy in Garibaldi that came to the rescue . Great antique store, fifties era sandwich shop , train museum and steam engine train ride at Garibaldi as
Well as a pier where people from Portland come to catch crabs . Day trips to Portland are easy - fabulous old neighborhoods , Japanese Garden near the zoo is a must see. Granddaughter who lives in Gearhart just past Seaside up the road heading North took me to the Sandtrap Reasaurant located in MacMenavin Hotel , built in a grand old hotel style that overlooks an adjoining golf course - fabulous food There is a bar down stairs , very cosy with fireplace going on chilly nights ,serving hotel made wines and same great food very reasonably priced. Cannon Beach surf shop is owned by relatives , nice galleries further into town of Cannon Beach for art. What 's not to love?

Manzanita is a great little town. The beach is beautiful and huge, cut with little creeks that kids really love. The shops are relatively interesting and there's good food to be had. Two places I don't see mentioned a lot are "Bread and Ocean" which is mostly a bakery but on Friday and Saturday they do BBQ which is quite superb, we were very impressed with that. And the little coffee, bakery & ice cream place down near the ocean is also really good.
