We loved renting the green tubes from Lucky Chuckys in Sunriver by Blondies Pizza. Fastest, best tubes! Took them up to Wanoga Snowpark our 2nd day there. What a blast even the adults had! First day we did the free run and half price noon-4 run at Bachelor. Perfect for our 3 families with all different age ranges. Next year we plan to rent snowmobiles from good2go in Sunriver for $199 a day :-)

It might not be a positive for some guests, but the market is in the back yard of this property. For us it was great. A very short walk for milk was great!! The bike trails were easy to access. The pool passes pay for a large cost of your stay!!! The four bikes provided were a great addition.....although we didn't need them because we brought our own. They are very high quality bikes, that looked in great working order. We didn't use the hot tub, but you will be pleased, it's a nice one.

Really enjoyed kayak trip. We tried the tubes last year but they are painfully slow, hard to manage and one deflated. But the kayaks gave all the peaceful exploration with easy maneuverability. Because this property does not have SHARC passes it is very difficult to access the Sunriver tennis courts (have to schedule and meet someone, can't just grab rackets and go there with the pass to unlock). Really wish there was some open courts people could use when they feel like it.

We love mountain biking from the house, as well as traveling to Bend to bike and check out the breweries. I also brought my paddle board and loved exploring the local waters. The kids went paddle boarding on the Deschutes at Harper's Bridge and we found the cheapest place to rent paddle boards is right next to the gas station at the Main Sunriver entrance. I believe it was called Tumalo's?
It saved us about $30/person instead of getting the paddle boards at the Sunriver marina.

  • Sunriver

    Linda S.

The pool was nice because we did not have to go to SHARC to swim. Sunriver in general is not as fun place to be anymore. To much junk in the mall area. Goodies needs a major remodel. It was much more fun when it didn't have junk in The mall and people could walk and see each other instead of having to wander around looking for other people. To crowded. It used to be a fun family place. Now it is too. The difference is that it's been turned into a circus instead of a quiet and peaceful place. So sad. We came every summer for 14 years straight. I think we won't be coming again. Please pass this info to the powers that be. Thank you.

Tokatee 25 was also a convenient location to the Marketplace and 97. But this location is a tiring bike ride to the aquatic center, nature center and the village so we only did that once and drove the other times. But overall a great location in Sunriver!

We went into Bend for white water rafting with Sun Country Tours - it was less expensive that floating down the river in canoes. The price that Sunriver charges families for a few hour float is pretty excessive. We could buy our own canoe! Sun Country was not inexpensive but it was a more robust experience for everyone and less expensive - also came with a deli lunch which was nice not to have to pack.

We love to browse in the Village--sweet little shops. One in our group fly-fishes, and he liked the proximity of the rivers and lakes. Little kids and big ones all enjoy biking on the extensive paved trails. The trails are hard for walkers, though, because of the huge number of bicyclists who seem to want the whole trail to themselves.

The resort provided an abundance of the necessities and perks of vacationing in a beautiful setting. The quality of eateries was excellent and having a grocery store on the property was so helpful. The friendliness of the staff throughout the resort was impressive and the cleanliness of the public areas was so appreciated.

There is so much to do and see in Sunriver and in the area. In Sunriver be sure to visit and support the Sunriver Nature Center and the Oregon Observatory. Go horseback riding at Sunriver Stables, ride your bicycles on the paved Sunriver paths. It was a little cold so we did not visit the SHARC, but the facility looks very nice.

Take the time to visit the many sights in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. We visited the Big Obsidian Flow, East Lake, Lava Cast Forest, and the Lava Lands Visitor Center.
The High Desert Museum is a great place for everyone.

There are many places to eat and drink in Sunriver, but be sure to visit some of the local restaurants in Bend and nearby.

We loved the little shopping area. The Art Gallery was really well put together. Several shops I would go back a visit again! The SHARC looked fun but we didn't try it out this time. Also liked the ability to rent bicycles too. everything was easy to walk or bike to.
The only downside was the train track being so close to our cabin. This should be a point made clearly to future guests. Our first experience with the train, caused us to both think a plane was going down on top of us! Disconcerting to say the least!

My husband fly fished each morning and evening at Fall River, no luck. He did see elk, deer, and heard the beavers slapping their tails as he approached. The closest swimming pool belongs to another condo property so you aren't allowed to use it. SHARC is a ton of fun but can get very crowded. Easy to get there by bike. We biked into town for dinners and to go to the store as well.

The train came three and sometimes four times per night. Don't kid yourself, it is loud. If you have small children, do not book this location. The beds vibrate from the noise. If the train brings a change/excitement and/or you are a deep sleeper, it's a non-issue.
