We are impressed with the City's commitment to improving the amenities. The upgrade of sidewalks and landscaping on the public throughways is impressive. Police and Fire services are first class.

Ask for Mario at Parrot Eyes it's a restaurant and they also have water sports. His service was awesome we actually went back the next day and he still helped us when we had a different server to make sure we were taken care of.

The Turtle Rescue is a fun place to visit. The sandcastles by the SPI visitor center are cool. The Blue Marlin supermarket is very close to this property, as well as a Stripes convenience store. Great restaurants within close walking distance nearby, including the SPI Brewing Company, and Tom & Jerry's, both with great food.

South Padre Island Birding And Nature Center
    Turtle Rescue Centre
Avoid Backyard Louies - poor quality and service
The beach is close by and great walking barefoot in surf -- we weren't much into swimming but a couple of times of "body surfing" was great.
Drive to North end of road and walk in dunes and on the more isolated beaches was nice.

We enjoyed dinner at Joey's shrimp and oyster Bar and lunch at Marcello's, both in Port Isabel. We especially enjoyed long walks on a wonderful, long beach each day.
We found the wind a bit much as it was a daily thing but there were days it would have been too hot without it.

BurgerFi was the best food we had on the island. They are super fresh, the burgers, hand-cut fries and onion rings are amazing. Price is reasonable for what you get. Many restaurants were over-priced. We liked Kelly's Irish Pub as well. And, Sea Ranch was very good, a bit pricey. Our waiter was very attentive.

We head to Ceviche Ceviche for ceviche as soon as we're on the island, and take it to Beach Access #11 with tables and restroom to enjoy it. We also love the funky beach bar Wanna Wanna for fried oysters and fries.

Definitely try the surfing lessons, the waves aren't very big but it's easy to learn on and the instructor is very helpful you will be able to get up on the surfboard.
The horseback riding was great we took the hour and a half ride and you get a full hour and a half. You ride along the shore and go over some dunes, you can even take the horse in the gulf. The horses are very easy to ride so if you have no experience it's no problem. Definitely check out the Turtle Sanctuary, very informative and some neat large turtles to see. Do the eco tour, it's cheap, they drag a net behind the boat and you get to see puffer fish, sea horses, different types of crabs and other fish. Go to the Fisherman restaurant off of hwy 100 in Port Isabel it's a small nostalgic restaurant, good food and very reasonable. Go to one of the beach accesses on the bay side, the water is very shallow and weedy but you will see hermit crabs crawling all over by the water.

We had reservations to stay at the Pearl South but ended up staying in #305 Aquarius. It was our first time at S.P.I. so we decided to to go to the Pearl hotel just to check it out to see if we missed out on anything. We found that you cant bring an ice chest to the pool , nor can you bring any drinks to the pool. As we were walking out a man asked us if we needed anything and I explained why we were there. He told us if we were staying Friday in S.P.I. that he Strongly recommended the buffet at the Pearl South. So Friday(our last night ) we went to the buffet and it was the best we had EVER HAD.No doubt THE BEST ON THE ISLAND. Our bill was only 58 dollars. Its a MUST if you really want to treat yourself on your vacation.

    2) Restaurante Veracruzano for quality seafood at cheap price.
    3) Beach to the north at the end of the road forshells and remote beauty.

THIS ISLAND DESPERATELY NEEDS TO START A LEGITIMATE RECYCLING PROGRAM!!! AND THIS CONDO SHOULD LEAD THE CHARGE BY OFFERING AN EXTRA CAN AND BEING CLEAR ABOUT HOW AND WHY TO USE IT. SEEING SO SO SO MUCH TRASH EVERYWHERE IS SICK.

We visited your typical souvenir shops and a burger place. Having a house with a full kitchen made it was too easy to go to the store and shop for groceries. Everything was very reasonable in price. I was a little shocked that prices were not higher, might even lower than Sugar Land, TX prices. Everywhere we went, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Our favorite spot had to have been between the house and the beach. It was very relaxing and enjoyable.

The convenience of being able to walk to the Wanna Wanna Hut anytime for food or drinks and the close beach access make this property very appealing. We were never able to locate the sauna which is advertised as included with this rental but the pool and hot tub were both nice.

While we were pleased with the cleanliness of inside the house, etc. the outside is quite dirty, and in need of sprucing up...under the house is yuky, and it could use some flowers outside, and weeds pulled, etc. We were only there for four days, and you would think you could keep the roaches away for that long. We will never come again for that reason. I couldn't sleep for two nights. I think you should give us some money back !!!

For food, Chilitto Pikin has excellent Mexican food. Captain Roy's, Blackbeard's, and Pier 19 have excellent seafood. Gabriella's has great pizza but can get crowded & busy. The birding & nature center is a nice spot but go when it is not super hot! Also loved the Sea Life Center at Pirate's Landing. And Davey Jones ice cream locker has good ice cream & saltwater taffy. We spent most of our time on the beach & enjoyed it. Would like to go horseback riding on the beach next time & take a sunset dinner cruise.
