Llubí is a serene, out-of-the-way agricultural town on the island of Mallorca, Spain, and it's the perfect destination for travelers who want to bask in tropical ambiance away from crowds to relax in a peaceful environment untouched by tourism. Well-known for its skilled carpenters, a trip through this charming Spanish town is a study in traditional Mallorcan architecture. Stay in one yourself by booking one of our vacation rentals in the area!
Located in the north-central island of Mallorca in the Balearic Islands, Llubí is 26 miles from the capital city of Palma and 30 miles from the Palma de Mallorca Airport. The challenge in getting from the airport to Llubí is indicative of the lack of publicity this serene town receives, but it's well worth the effort to get here! Just five miles from the quaint town of Maria de la Salud, Llubí offers a picture of typical Mallorcan life for the curious traveler.
While Llubí proper is somewhat tucked away, it's a great central location from which to explore. Just 10 miles from Llubí, Coves de Campanet is worth a visit for a fun cave tour. Take your time as you pass by beautiful rock and mineral formations over 10 million years old. When you've finished your tour, grab a bite to eat in the cafe and pick up a souvenir in the gift shop.
If you start early enough in the day, after the cave trip you might head to s'Albufera Natural Park of Mallorca, the largest and most significant wetland area in the Balearics. This fascinating part of the island protects 1708 hectares of marshes and dunes. If you're a nature buff, you'll appreciate being surrounded by a cornucopia of diverse ecosystems, plants and animals, as well as insects and over 66 different species of fungi! There are footpaths, bicycle trails, and bird watching centers to enjoy.
Considering the close proximity of the towns that surround Llubí, it's easy to plan a day trip and take in spectacular scenery and a variety of alluring sights and attractions. For instance, the Planetarium in Costix, under six miles away, will fascinate kids and adults alike who have a fascination with the stars and planets.
Less than 12 miles away is the Ethnological Museum of Calderers, an old manor-turned museum, which offers interesting displays and gardens where you can linger on a lazy afternoon, as well as a petting farm your kids will love!
12 miles west of Llubí is Bodegas Jose L. Ferrer, a fourth generation winery in Binissalem. A pioneer in innovative wine production beginning in 1931, Ferrer began the longstanding tradition of cultivating and bottling notable Mallorcan wine. Go for a visit, take a tour, and experience a tasting, complete with gastronomic delights, then stop by the wine shop to purchase a few bottles to enjoy with dinner back at your vacation rental.
