Where is Sant Llorenç des Cardassar?

Located just 37 miles from Palma on the island of Mallorca, this town shares the region of Llevant with Manacor, Petra, Artá, and Son Servera. It is small and has a population of only around 3,000, but since word has gotten out about Cala Millor on the coast, it has become one of the most well-known spots in the Mediterranean!

Churches in Sant Llorenç

In the center of town is Placa Nova square, housing the impressive Parish Church of Sant Llorenc. Inside, a barrel vault roof protects a 13th-century Romanesque sculpture of La Mare de Déu Trobada and a Gothic statue of the Mother of God carved out of Satanyi stone.

Just down the road in Son Carrio, you'll find the Romanesque Church of Sant Miquel. This unique church boasts a stunning rose window that is said to have been designed by the prestigious Antoni Gaudi. While in Son Carrio, make sure to stop by the bakery for some tasty ensaïmades, a sweet local pastry that the island is famous for!

Outdoor Activities in Sant Llorenç

For all beach activities, Cala Millor has got you covered! Stretching over a mile long, this sandy beach has an esplanade spanning its entire length, as well as facilities for tennis, golf, and bike rentals. If you are feeling adventurous, visit one of the dive shops to try your hand at scuba diving. End your evening with an enjoyable meal or a drink at one of the myriad bars and restaurants along the walk.

If Cala Millor is too crowded for your tastes, you might try the beach at Sa Coma. This quiet escape offers sugary sand and scattered shade beneath palm and pine trees, perfect for a relaxing afternoon with your favorite book. As a plus for the adventurous, horseback rides are offered in both locations!

To escape the crowds completely, go to La Punta, which offers 500 acres of protected natural habitat. Wander the serene paths along the peninsula and make your way to the moat-surrounded defense tower, built in the 17th century to protect against pirates. Perhaps you'll stumble upon the prehistoric cave dwellings at Ses Crestes or the talayot of Tancat de Sa Torre on your way.
