Attractions

Relaxed, unassuming, and eternally laid-back, the lakefront city of Villarrica seems almost unaware of its extraordinary location. Nestled at the meeting place of Lake Villarrica and the slopes of the Villarrica volcano, this Chilean city is a place for thrill seekers and outdoor enthusiasts to fish, hike, and ski as the locals do. You'll find incredible access to the outdoors while escaping the trappings of overwhelming tourism - and you'll do it all in the splendor of our Villarrica vacation rentals.

Where is Villarrica?

This city of approximately 50,000 residents sits on the southwestern shores of Lake Villarrica, within sight of Villarrica's 9,338-foot volcanic summit only 26 miles southeast. Here in the central province of La Araucanía, you'll be just 16 miles west of the adventure capital of Pucón, 41 miles southeast of La Araucanía International Airport in Temuco, and 474 miles south of downtown Santiago.

Summer Activities in Villarrica

Although this lakefront city is equipped for every season, the sparkling summer months (December through February) at our Villarrica vacation rentals are particularly wonderful for hikers, anglers, and beach-goers.

Join the Villarriquences for leisurely strolls along the costanera - a new boardwalk that traces the scenic shores of the lake. Spend your days sunbathing on the artificial black sand beach, sampling the local Mapuche cuisine, or joining a fishing excursion on the nearby Toltén, Liucura, Llancahue, Trancura, or Voipir Rivers.

You'll enjoy close proximity to some of Chile's most famous national parks, including the majestic Villarrica National Park only 20 miles southeast. The slopes of one of South America's most active volcanoes offer roughly 150,000 acres of park land, araucaria and lenga forests, volcanic caves, and local wildlife that include pumas, foxes, and mountain monkeys. You'll also find 27,000 acres of lakes and lagoons at Huerquehue National Park 37 miles east.

Winter Activities in Villarrica

The winter months in Villarrica are no less thrilling, as skiers, snowboarders, and nature lovers come to enjoy a host of outdoor activity.

Just 24 miles southeast of Villarrica is Ski Center Pucón, where you'll find 20 trails, nine lifts, and an international ski and snowboard school on the flanks of the Villarrica volcano. After a day of skiing, there's no better place to rest your legs than in one of the nearby thermal springs, and the lovely Termas Geometricas offer 17 slate pools within the borders of Villarrica National Park.

From crystal clear rivers to world-class ski slopes, you'll find it all near our Villarrica vacation rentals - come and discover this beautiful region of Chile today!
