Unique and welcoming, dog-friendly cottage just blocks from the dunes

This charming two-bedroom Seaview vacation rental is in a quiet neighborhood on the Long Beach Peninsula, about a mile from the sand. Built in 1898, this historic cottage will welcome you with a toasty wood stove, lovely decor, WiFi, and a dog-friendly attitude!

Located just a mile south of Long Beach, you'll be near the dunes, and Cape Disappointment State Park is a mere three miles from your door. In the downtown area of Seaview, there are shops and cafes. Feel like a day trip? Astoria, Oregon is a scenic 18 miles south.

Along with its historic, rustic charm preserved, you will also enjoy modern amenities like high speed wireless internet, a flatscreen LCD TV with a DVD player (no cable), and a sound system for your iPod. There is a DVD rental machine at the grocery store just over a block away. Plan a movie night with bowls of freshly popped popcorn or just curl up with a good book in the comfortable white wood-paneled living room.

The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes and cooking supplies (including a coffee grinder and french press) and SID's Market is only a block away. And although there is no dishwasher, you can always let the pots and pans soak while head to the beach for a gorgeous sunset.

This cottage has two nicely designed bedrooms, each with a double bed, and a futon in the living room, so up to four guests can sleep comfortably here. Furry family members are also welcome with an additional nightly fee with a maximum of two dogs.

You'll have a wood stove with a glass door, electric space heaters, and plenty of blankets for chilly nights on the coast. Outside, there's a deck and a gas grill, so you can also plan a barbecue on nice, sunny days!

A nearby trail will take you to the dunes, and there's also easy street access to the beach a mile to the north or south of the cottage. Spend the day clamming, walking along the surf, or make the short drive across the Astoria-Megler Bridge for an afternoon in Oregon!

There are many other local activities to check out - museums, forts, lighthouses, trails, downtown Long Beach, fishing ports, and oyster bays. On the nights you don't feel like cooking, the award-winning Depot Restaurant is just four blocks away for Willapa Bay oysters and other local favorites.

No matter how you spend your time, this quaint and personality-filled Long Beach, Washington vacation rental is a great home base for your Washington Coast adventures!

Location convenient to shops, dining and drinking.
House is very basic.

HIstoric, cute little home. A bit chilly, but other than that it was worth the price.

The seclusion is nice even being that close to town. Quiet area. I enjoy older basic living so this place has a great appeal for me. Would rent again.

Love Long Beach & location of cottage. We expected the cottage to be old but the place was dirty with lots of problems. Photo on Web does not show the true condition of this place. Was overgrown with brush. Smelled of dog urine. Water, for drinking & showering, was an issue. Back door was not secured when we arrived & wouldn't stay closed unless locked. Lack of curtains & locks on some windows. No window screens to keep mosquitoes/ insects out. We even had a rat visitor.
Manager Response:
We are sorry to see our guest was not fully satisfied with their visit. Pest control has been out to lay traps. We have not had any other complaints about water or been able to discover any issues on our own. The back door operates as it is designed too, and we have suggested window locks and screens to the owners. We are excited to say there will be a complete interior re-do this fall. Thank you!

Convenient location. But a few other drawbacks: Bathroom and shower tiny / can barely turn around. No firewood as stated, so we had to purchase our own for $40. Only an uncomfortable futon to sit on in LR. Not within walking distance to beach.
Manager Response:
We apologize housekeeping missed restocking the firewood. We wish this guest had called as we would have brought some over.

I love my stay. I appreciated the late check out. The home met our needs. It would have been nice to have a washer and dryer available but there was a laundry close. Plan to schedule another trip.

I loved the location. It is very close to the grocery store and several different restaurants. The cottage was a cozy little place. It worked well for our purposes. We were looking to simply get away for the weekend. I would stay here over a motel, anytime.

Things to keep in mind when visiting this cottage is the size. The beds are full size, so be prepared to cuddle with whomever you are sleeping. The couch is a futon, which can be used to sleep 2 people, but it is not a very comfortable couch. I think I would prefer a sleeper couch which was more comfortable to sit on. The TV is fairly small, and across the room from the couch. A larger TV on a swivel mount would be nice.

The cottage is a bit drafty and took some time to heat. They have made an effort with this by providing space heaters in every room. It does have a central heater as well. As for the wood stove, that was a bit of a disappointment. The first night I built a smaller fire in it to warm the place and received no heat from it. The next night, I used the rest of the wood available and built a roaring fire in it. Even then, it did nothing to warm the space. Using the space heaters and the central heat, it took most of the day to warm the place up to a comfortable temperature.

The selection of pans and dishes was pretty good. The only thing missing was a cookie sheet and some baking pans. Those would have been helpful with what we planned to cook.

The last thing to look out for is the parking. It is a long driveway which will park 3 cars, but the driveway is on the grass, there is no paving for it whatsoever. The ruts have been worn pretty deeply, so parking a second car may be tricky because it would have to be parked next to the street, or in the ruts. A truckload of rocks would do a lot for the driveway.

If these are all things you can manage, this is a great place to spend the nights. I will most likely use it again when I visit Long Beach. Happy Vacationing.

Sweet and simple two bedroom cabin conveniently near the beach, market and the areas best restaurants. Wood stove, well-equipped kitchen, perfect for a quiet beach getaway.
Alex G. Feb 2018
We loved it. Don’t expect anything high end, but the location and wood burning stove were perfect for what we wanted.
Arnold T. Jan 2018
The cabin was comfortable. If you are travelling light a great place to stay for a couple of days. Easy access to tourist spots.
Kerry G. Jan 2018
We really enjoyed staying in the charming little cottage. The neighborhood is full of older homes, it was fun to walk around, and particularly to walk to the beach. It was a bit cold for us, having the wood stove going was essential as temperatures really dropped. Might choose to go during a warmer month next time, but we did enjoy the coziness of the wood stove. There was no French press as promised in the kitchen supplies, otherwise we were able to cook meals in the small kitchen. My primary suggestion is to upgrade the beds. I wouldn't want to go back until I know this has been done, as the lumpy beds were very uncomfortable.
James H. Nov 2017
We paid for two nights but only stayed for one. Neither my wife or I wanted to spend any more time than we had to in this place.

The only positive was it allowed pets so we could take our dog with us.
Sandy M. Nov 2017
The cottage was very nice, and comfortable. It was close to shops and block away from the market. We had a great stay!
Nick B. Oct 2017
Staff was great. Allowed early check-in. Reimbursed my extra firewood purchase, which was needed. Rustic older home with an excellent Lopi wood stove made for a cozy getaway. Reasonably clean. Hot shower, excellent gas grill. Bed’s and bedding a little tired.
Claire C. Sep 2017
Great romantic getaway - cozy and charming. Good central location - enjoyed spending time in Astoria and Cape Disappointment as well as Long Beach.
Diane B. Sep 2017
Vacasa personnel are really wonderful to work with. Access to the property was explained perfectly, and the cottage is exceptionally clean. We didn't care much for the location and the yard isn't dog friendly at all, but if you were just there to eat and sleep (and they upgrade the couch and kitchen items) it's a close drive to the Ocean and shops.
Sonya V. Aug 2017
Just the right size for four people. Quiet location and close to grocery store and beach.
Courtney N. Jun 2017
Off the beaten path, yet walking distance to the beach and to area restaurants. Perfect size for a couple or a small family.
Katie J. Jun 2017
The house is really cute and has good common spaces. Our main issue with the house was the horrendous mosquito problem. With some of the windows not closing properly, and having to unlock the house from the back, we were absolutely eaten alive.
PATRICK M. Mar 2017
This house, at least when it rains, is surrounded by a small lake of water, mud, and grass. Like, literally, the entire foundation of the house is covering a body of water. Wasn't sure if this was the septic system failure or mother earth trying to devour this place... Poop smell abounds inside the house, get ready for a waft every now and then of the bottom-lake fumes under the house seeping through the 1 layer of 4x4s that make up your flooring. No insulation at all on the floors, walls, and ceilings. Just a thing layer of wood. I thought I would fall through at times (they would bow a bit with my weight, spoiler alert I'm not overweight). Also, none of the doors or windows close all the way (animals and bugs could get in through here please note). I found mold on walls of bathroom and kitchen. Ew.
Joy M. Mar 2017
If you are looking for a cozy place to stay for a few days you may want to look elsewhere. The house overall is more like a cabin. It took a while for it to warm up once we got there but there were several space heaters. They was a mention of more firewood in the woodshed but we found it empty which was a bit disappointing. The parking Or really just the grass out front and it was rainy while we were there so it got a bit muddy. The beds were quite comfortable which kind of surprised me. Overall I just wasn't impressed with the cabin and wish we would have stayed somewhere a little nicer.
Joan M. Dec 2016
Like a trip into the past of historic Seaview, when the OR& N little train steamed by the front door, staying at Camp Hungry is a delightful experience.
Frances W. Oct 2016
I stayed two nights at Camp Hungry in early October and found the home's paper-thin walls (without insulation, I presume) to radiate cold, causing me to feel a chill during my entire stay. Though there is central heat and three supplemental heaters, I was still cold. I do not recommend this place during the cold season. I also found the home full of cobwebs, dirt and grime, as if it had only received very superficial cleanings for a year. I could have overlooked these two things if I had gotten the place for cheap, but I paid the equivalent of $170 a night (with taxes & fees added) during the off-season, which was way overpriced for the quality and size of this home. I do not recommend.
Manager Response:
We are sorry to see that our guest was so cold during their stay. It is true that the home is not insulated; there is a wood stove and a handful of space heaters to keep the place warm. A deep cleaning is scheduled for the house this month to address the cleanliness issues of the busy summer season.
Heather F. Sep 2016
We stayed here with our two small children (under 4 yo) and enjoyed our time in Long Beach/Seaview. The home is in a great location, walking distance to eateries and a grocery store which we frequented. However, the home, upon arrival, was not as clean/cozy/up-to-date as it appeared online. It was damp and smelt of mold upon arrival, it was freezing at night so we used the space heaters throughout the home (which for small children was a pain). The home had cobwebs and there was even a tree frog in the home. We're used to camping, so we're not skiddish about these environments - but we didn't go there to camp and certainly didn't pay this price for that experience. Would have loved to see that cute home receive some upgrades and enhancements to make it more welcoming and cozy for future guests.
Manager Response:
We apologize for the discomforts this guest experienced. The housekeeping issues have been addressed by the Property Manager and housekeeping team, and improvements on this rustic home are impending.
Angela K. Sep 2016
Overall we enjoyed our stay. The pictures on line are not accurate . The yard was in poor condition with overgrown berry bushes all around the house.
Manager Response:
The Property Manager has trimmed back the bushes so the landscaping is more appealing.
Dwayne A. Sep 2016
we had a very great time and it was a great experience
Kurtis E. Jul 2016
This is a great spot to spend some quality time with friends. Take a short walk down the street to the beach, looking at all the cool homes along the way. Fell in love with both the home and Seaview. This home will definitely be a part of our list of quick weekend getaways from Portland. Thank you!
Valeen C. Jun 2016
We enjoyed ourselves in the Seaview cottage.. It was clean close to the beach and shops. We would stay again.
Brandon B. May 2016
I felt like a reclusive 1890's writer trying to escape the rat race in this small turn-of-the-century cottage. Awesome spot to decompress and just shut the world out. And if you desire mindless entertainment, the house comes fully equipped with cable and wifi -- pretty much the only modern touches added since the 1898 construction date (well, and plumbing and heating).
Laurie W. May 2016
We came for clam digging. Perfect location. In evening we made dinner and had a nice fire and played cards. Dogs enjoyed the nice wood fireplace too.
Thanks
Todd T. Apr 2016
Perfect little get away and great location.
Ingrid P. Mar 2016
This cute little place is rustic, but comfortable. Bring bikes to explore the Discovery Trail or zip into Ilwaco or Long Beach.
John B. Mar 2016
Wonderful little cozy house in a sleepy coastal town. Great getaway!
Annie S. Feb 2016
Tiny old house. Maybe good in summer... One layer of plywood for the walls and floor... Can seriously see the light from outside thru some cracks in the floor. Did have acquit kitchen supplies..
Rodney C. Jan 2016
Nice little house in a quiet neighborhood. One can hear the ocean in the distance but it's a couple of blocks to an access to a beautiful, paved beachside trail. House itself is cozy but wood supply is nearly gone and the wood stove needs some maintenance. I was looking for some silence and solitude and was pleased that this place fit my vibe. Thanks for a nice stay...
Natalie P. Jan 2016
Camp Hungry was a nice little old house, would probably be great for spring -Fall. Our January stay was very cold at night as the house is old and doesn't have much insulating it. The wood stove was great, but once the fire goes out the heater doesn't quite keep the front bedroom warm enough. Be prepared for chilly nights. Fortunately Vacasa has provided lots of space heaters. Also, fair warning that if you stay during the winter months the walking path to the beach may very well be flooded. Otherwise lots of fun!
Joan M. Jan 2016
Thank you for being so helpful with the sign-up, sign-out and maintenance
James P. Oct 2015
I'm not familiar with old houses (i.e., pre-1960s), so it's not fair of me to lay all blame on Vacasa for my rating of "Ok." I really didn't enjoy staying in the house because of uncomfortable furnishings, small beds (I know the rooms are small, so Vacasa likely can't change this), and I was woken up at 1am one night by some creatures walking on the roof (raccoons?) although initially I thought someone had broken into the house.

There are a few (2-3) places around Seaview and Long Beach that serve tasty seafood, but the location is boring. Boring can be good if it's relaxing, but Seaview was not. One night, during a walk back from the beach 1-2 hours before sunset, I heard (but couldn't see) a teenager screaming in the woods about killing someone and their family and yelling the 'N' word. Needless to say, this startled me. I continued to walk down the road with hurried pace and 5 min later saw a police car come screaming past me to address the situation.

Overall, I did not enjoy my stay, so I left 1 day early.

Some may prefer or be used to a more rustic experience than I am, but if you're not, don't consider this rental.
Manager Response:
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to see that your stay was not very enjoyable. We will advise the Property Manager of your comments regarding the furniture so they can discuss it with the owner. We are also very sorry to see that there was a disturbance in the neighborhood that so negatively affected your stay. This is not a normal occurrence, and we do not foresee anything like that happening again. We hope you found the home charming and enjoyed your time on the coast!
Karen T. Oct 2015
Bedroom close to kitchen, mattress is awful and blow dryer is cold air only.
Other than that everything was just fine.
Michelle N. Sep 2015
We stayed three nights for a fishing trip. The cottage is cute and somewhat rustic, but suited our needs. The beach was beautiful, but had to drive to get to it. Not as close as we had hoped. We ate out one night but cooked the rest. There were plenty of dishes/kitchen stuff to make a nice meal. Overall we had a great time. I appreciated the ease of the reservation process and check in/out. We would come back again!
John H. Sep 2015
A couple of nice breakfast spots 2 blocks away. Also, pick up a growler to go with dinner at the brewery just a couple of blocks away. Nearby path to beach, nice woodstove for cool evenings, play games (selection in house) by the fire.
Sarah M. Aug 2015
The location can't be beat! Camp Hungry is located just a few blocks from the beach access point (which was less busy/touristy than the next access point closer to town) and Long Beach is close enough to walk to, but far enough that you don't have tourists or beach goers outside your door. The owners did a great job balancing modern amenities without sacrificing the charm of this historic cottage. Great get away in a quiet neighborhood!
Kelly R. Jun 2015
Lovely little cottage, probably built as a summer home in the 1920s. It was perfect for our small family in the summer. There doesn't appear to be any insulation (no problem for the cool summers at the coast) but I bet it's pretty chilly in the winter, although there is a centrally located wood stove. Cozy place.
Jennille P. Jun 2015
Cute little cottage, but I would stay here with more than 2 people or for any long stay as it could get cramped. Make sure you bring bug spray, the mosquitoes were unreal.
Justin D. May 2015
This is a great place to stay. Cozy cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. My wife and three little kids had a great vacation. The Mosquitos were the only issue. Bug spray is recommended if you plan on sitting on the porch.
Jeffrey P. May 2015
Overall, the Seaview Cottage was a pretty decent rental. The owners just recently painted the exterior, but there were other odds and ends that could have made the place a lot cozier and more inviting. We used the side door as the sole access / egress because we could not open the lock on the front door. The wood stove threw out some good heat, but an axe would have been helpful to make some kindling from the large chunks of firewood that were out in the wood shed at the back of the house.
Manager Response:
We appreciate your feedback and will look into improvements that can be made. We hope you felt at home in this cute, historic cottage.
Sally R. Apr 2015
The reservation process was easy and the confirmation information was very helpful. The cottage is in a great location- off the main drag but still walking distance to grocery store and restaurants and also centrally located to beaches and State Parks.
Ashley M. Mar 2015
We had a wonderful time at Camp Hungry! I chose this cottage for a weekend away with my boyfriend and our beagle and we had a blast. The cottage is literally 5 minutes away from the Seaview beach access and right across the street from the local market. We used the wood stove all weekend to keep the cottage warm and there was plenty of wood in the shack behind the cottage. I would absolutely recommend this vintage cottage to any family looking for a simple and quiet getaway.
Carole W. Apr 2014
We had a great time at the sweet little cottage! "We" consisted of 4 16 year olds, 2 adults and 2 boxer dogs. It's a small cottage but we thought it was cozy & intimate. We enjoyed the beach tricycles, go-cart racing, kite flying, exploring Oysterville & the pioneer cemetery, eating out, cooking in, the antique mall, playing games, Lewis & Clark interpretative center and walking around town. The market is only one block away and has a Redbox outside, easy walking to downtown and not too far from the beach. The cottage is in a neighborhood, was quiet at night and we felt comfortable there. Considering "Camp Hungry" was built in 1898 we had everything we needed, we would go there again.
Manager Response:
It sure sounds like you were able to pack a lot of activities into your stay in Long Beach! We love that the home was a good, cozy fit for your group. Its a wonderful cottage and the location is really fabulous. We would love to have you visit again.
Barb P. Feb 2014
Great beaches for the dogs! The kids loved the free museum and we had excellent Thai food. The cottage was cozy with the wood stove. The Preston's from Woodinville.

We didn't know it was so far to walk to the ocean, never made it there on foot. Would have loved to spend more time on the sand, etc.
Didn't realize we couldn't check in until 4pm, until we received the notice a couple days before we went.
Cabin was cute and super clean, well stocked, nice wood stove.
Certainly glad we didn't count on using the futon for a bed, it wasn't even a place to sit. I'd read a review that said same, so one of our party had to bow out.
We had planned on him being there w/the family.

Camden W. Jul 2013
We arrived late after truly awful traffic from Seattle past Olympia, and since there was no cell service (at least for me) we couldn't retrieve the address from my "smartphone". The Lamplighter's karaoke machine and happy patrons drew us in and kept us smiling until the data connection led us to Camp Hungry, just a few blocks away. The place is a perfect little cabin for unwinding between easy walks to the beach, market, local restaurants. Slept well & woke happy every day. Thanks Vacasa!
Rachelle C. Jul 2013
Spent the 4th-of-July week here. The location of the cottage is perfect for walking to the local grocery market and the laundry mat. There is a Redbox outside the market for easy access to DVDs and several places to eat in walking distance. Beach access is not available from 43rd place unless you risk crossing private property. You can access the beach at the official Seaview approach which is a little further but still walkable. The town of Seaview is small and far enough away from the busier Long Beach that you get relatively quiet feel with a good mix of locals and other vacationers. There are locals that obviously care about the cleanliness of their beaches, so do your part and take a trash bag to the beach at least once and clean up as much as you can to show your appreciation of this beautiful part of the state. We did!
Robert M. Jun 2013
We really enjoyed our stay, loved the atmosphere =)
Leona G. May 2013
The house was very clean, and very quaint. We enjoyed our visit very much. The beds are a little too soft. But everything else is great. I will rent again from Vacasa.

We honeymooned in this cozy little cottage -- and for us it was perfect. Quiet and away from the touristy downtown of Long Beach (but close enough to get anywhere quickly!), this house provided a lovely, peaceful home-away-from-home for us. We loved being near the beach and even close enough to Astoria to make a day trip. It was beautiful!
Kristi K. Apr 2013
Accommodated one adult, network young teens and two small dogs. We did not need the car as we could walk to the beach and into town. We did take the short drive to ilwaco and to cape disappointment (lots of biking and hiking) and one day we drove less than an hour to seaside. Quiet, cozy cabin in neighborhood type area. Clean and nicely furnished and perfect for a small family. Felt very safe and was not isolated!
Elyse C. Apr 2013
Camp Hungry was a great getaway for the Easter long weekend! Will highly recommend to friends.
David O. Feb 2013
Perfect for a couple or small family wanting to get to the ocean. Convenient to water, restaurants and activities.

We really enjoyed our stay at the house in Long Beach. We would all definitely come back again!
Maya S. Aug 2012
Our family has loved visiting Long Beach for over 13 years. If we could, we'd come every summer. We have stayed in various places such as cottages, condos, etc. and each one has its good and not-so-good points.

Camp Hungry was rustic and very clean. There was plenty of hot water for showers, plenty of towels, we appreciated the free wi-fi, and the four of us fit well in the cabin. It's very close to the SeaView approach to the beach which we love. The only three things I would suggest to be changed are for the gas grill to be replaced. It was in pieces and filthy when we arrived and there was no way we could have used it. In addition, while the bedding was lovely, the actual mattresses were so soft and springy that they barely provided any support at all. My husband and I kept waking each other up all night when we barely moved and we both would find ourselves rolling toward the center of the bed. One of our sons opted to sleep on the living room futon couch, but we couldn't open it up because the frame was missing some screws and it was lopsided. So he just slept on it while it was in the "couch" position.

Even so, this was a lovely place to stay. Again, I appreciated how very clean the entire place was.
James C. Aug 2012
We really enjoyed our stay! The beds were VERY comfortable! We all slept amazing! A little cold though, but nothing a nice fire couldn't take care of. It would be nice to have a hatchet to cut kindling with. Overall, great experience! Thank you for sharing your beach house with us!
Gregg H. Jul 2012
This cottage was ideal as place to sleep for 5 adults (3 couples would also be fine. If you are planning on staying in during the day, it may get cramped. It is well stocked with linens and kitchen needs. Convenient access to Pacific Way, but a little south for the primary beach and entertainment (car not walking). Overall, 10 Thumbs Up.
Jessica C. May 2012
Very nice place, close to peer and downtown shops, perfect for a long weekend stay. Would recommend.

The cottage was very nicely located; walk to the beach and to shopping and movie rentals. We would definitely return.
Lisa Z. May 2012
Lovely .. sweet .. charming! We had a wonderful stay. Really would have been nice to have a book in the cottage that had special places in the area.. where to access the beach .. where to eat .. where to shop .. what to see .. etc... It was our first time there.
Manager Response:
Thank you for your review, we will certainly replace the guest book, it must have walked off with a prior guest! Thanks again and we hope to have you back soon!
Dave H. Apr 2012
We enjoyed this little retreat with our two kids and one dog. Beds were comfy and the kitchen had all the cookware and utensils we needed. Nice, quiet neighborhood, close to beach and walking distance to a fun little bar and the grocery store. We walked to the Lost Roo on the last night for dinner, and enjoyed the nice variety on the menu and lively atmosphere. Was nice to be away from the hub bub of the main part of Long Beach. Was just what we were looking for!
Tina K. Apr 2012
We were thrilled to find a Spring Break get-away, that would allow dogs and kids, that didn't cost a small fortune. This property was so reasonably priced! It was close-enough to home. It was close to the beach, within walking distance, if the weather permits. The house is historic, so it had a sort of rustic feel; however, there were plenty of modern amenities, like a stove with an oven, a flat-screen TV and DVD player, and Wi-Fi. There was no house book, which would have made navigating the use of the wood stove, and the house itself much easier (we had to buy toilet paper, because we didn't find any extra in the house--it was located in the shed, but we didn't have that information until the night before we checked out). But, even without having the information book, we had a wonderful time, and we can't wait to get back! We loved our stay at Camp Hungry and will definitely be back. Our entire experience with Vacasa Rentals was so outstanding. It was really one of the best spring vacations ever!
Scott A. Dec 2011
We had such an enjoyable time staying at Camp Hungry that we are already considering another stay during the summer. We absolutely enjoyed the cabin as it was a perfect retreat for a couples weekend.
Donna R. Oct 2011
This historic home is in a great location and has all needed amenities for a restful stay. Being country folk. we enjoyed the feeling of being in a neighborhood, walking our dog and greeting neighbors. Long Beach has many historic homes and just walking around will take you back in time. We loved the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and our 5 star dinner at Jimella's. Can't wait to return!
Rachel S. Oct 2011
A friend and I stayed for a week at the beginning of off season. The cabin is cozy and comfortable. The separate bedrooms were perfect for a good sleep and comfortable privacy. We were in love with the wood stove especially in the evenings as it cooled down. It was what we expected and more. Would love to stay here again and recommend it to others. :)
Thanks for a great experience!
Jeff C. Sep 2011
we are old house type people so we absolutely loved this little cottage. It was so comfortable (except for the sofa). We loved sitting out on the front porch like we lived in the neighborhood.
Manager Response:
Thank you for your review, we appreciate the feedback on the sofa and we will relay it to the owner. Thanks again and we hope to welcome you back soon!
Becky A. Aug 2011
We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy historic house. The house was clean and had a well stocked kitchen with a full stove with oven, microwave and all types of dishes and cooking utensils. The house is a block away from the main grocery store in town, yet on a quiet street. We would stay here again!
Kirk R. Jul 2011
We loved it! Nice cozy cottage. Very comfortable. Big kitchen for preparing meals and a nice wood stove to keep us warm. They even provide the wood (you have to do your own chopping). There was a note book with lots of information and recommendations for places to eat. An easy walk from the beach and a nice drive to other scenic areas including the Oregon coast. We hope to go back when it's whale watching season.

This was a cute place. The shower was tight but everything else was great. The beds were very comfy which is excellent for us older people. Didn't get to enjoy a fire for this stay but maybe next time.

The house was very clean and very comfortable. It was a little chilly at night because there was no insulation or foundation. This is a very old home which explains the cold at night and it is in Long Beach. The cleanliness, location and overall charm outweighs all the negatives. We had a great time and really enoyed the nice front "yard".

…From the throwback to another century cottage with its wainscoting, woodstove and perfectly ripe salmonberry bushes in the yard, to the beautiful bike trails, meeting folks on my morning beach walks, to kites and cafes, to confusing all of the towns names “Ocean this & Sea that”,the tiny but worthy town of Oysterville…and most importantly, to the beautiful stretch of sunny summer solstice days…all I can say is…WHY DIDN’T I TAKE 2 WEEKS????

Great location! Kitchen well stocked. Beds very comfortable. Good thing there was several down blankets. The firewood was in large pieces and to wet to burn. So take your own with kindeling. The Futon is built for very tall people. Not at all comfy to sit on. Nice front porch with rocking chairs,to sit in the afternoon sun. But take your "OFF". Lots of "skeeters".

... it was right in the middle of town, yet tucked away on a side street. A grocery store with a redbox machine was about two minutes away if walking, restaurants were very close by and the beach was 5 minutes away if you drove. It was so perfect. If you drove to the left from the main road (Which is about 5 seconds away from the cottage if you drive) you drive into Long Beach in about two minutes and there are tons of places to eat and shop and if you drive right on the main road you are in Ilwaco in about 5 minutes and there are light houses and stores and places to eat there as well. There was no shortage of things to do. But just be aware that things close fairly early. Most little shops close around 5 or 6 and most places like the grocery store or the laundry mat close at 8. But if you get up early you can spend all day walking around and having fun. It was perfect for my boyfriend and I for our three year anniversary. Very quiet, great location and had all the supplies we needed

not insulated so next time we will plan a trip in the summer there. Other than that it was a fun time and good experience.
Manager Response:
We've added forced air heating, so the cottage is much easier to keep warm now!

Great place to stay! Cute and cozy and very close to town and the beach....

Having frequented the Long Beach Penninsula and stayed many places, your charming historic family home rates as our favorite. It had just the right amount of space for our family of four. The kids enjoyed being outside playing in the yard while we relaxed on the sunny porch. It was great to get out for a walk to the beach and around the neighborhood to see the other historic homes. Camp Hungry was well equipped and cozy. I particularly enjoyed reading Lucie's letters as they left me with a sense of the house's history. Thanks!

We had a little trouble getting the door unlocked. A little cold, but once the place heated up it was quite nice. Nicely stocked; blankets, pillows, etc. and kitchen neccecities as well. It was fun to read about the family's history. Fairly priced.

We would have like to read more history on the place. Great to have wood heat as the fan for the thermostat was obnoxious. Soap in shower fantastic, what is it?! All was comfortable and quaint. Wish the place were closer/ walking distance to beach but it worked out fine.

Loved Camp Hungry! Such an awesome little cabin. Great location. Quiet. Perfect for a Long Beach getaway.

Would have liked a much different couch. We are seniors and Futons are for young people, very difficult to arise from the futon and not comfortable to sit on for very long.

This place was great. A short walk to the beach, redbox a block away, dvd player, cozy couch, and functioning kitchen! It's just what we needed. Thanks for being a pet friendly option.

What a sweet little home, we truly enjoyed our stay. There were nice little touches that the management thought of (french press for coffee with fresh beans and grinder!), and such comfortable beds with quality linens. The road noise from the main strip was a bit noticeable and it's a bit of a walk to the beach access, but it was also very central to everything you want to do in Long Beach. We would not hesitate to stay here fact, can't wait!

Other than the cabin not being ready when I arrived, a really great stay. Got a bit chilly, but the wood stove definitely took care of that. Could have been stocked a bit better with more wood, and kitchen could have been stocked a bit better with more trash bags, some disinfectant spray, etc. Loved the porch, especially during the rain, and the bed was really comfy. Wi-fi was really great. Overall the cabin was exactly what I was looking for.

We loved the house with its quirky red floor and comfortable beds and game table. The kitchen was just right and the fireplace kept the chill off. We only wished the futon sofa had been a bit more comfortable for viewing videos. Loved the porch and location.

My only complaint would be that there wasn't a plunger in the bathroom.

Great cabin! It was perfect for us. Did not want anything fancy, just wanted to get away.

Cute small property. Perfect for a quiet weekend. Close to everything in Longbeach. WiFi was a nice plus.

I would highly recommend a stay at Camp Hungry. I felt at home the whole stay. It's location was nice and quite yet still close to everything. Our family plans to stay there again in the future.

It was great. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of wood for the stove. It was centrally located, close to the beach, groceries and restaurants, a very nice neighbourhood. It was pretty cold when we visited. The sun doesn't really get in and it didn't have any heating apart from the woodstove and a couple of space heaters. So it took us some time to warm up but it was well worth the wait. The bathroom is very small and the shower is tiny. The welcome book had lots of useful information and tips. Overall I loved the place and look forward to visiting again.

We were very pleased with our stay. Very family and pet friendly cottage with 2 bedrooms and everything you need for a stay away from home. With a large family we don't eat out and we do our own cooking (not hamburger helper type cooking)so we brought a lot of our kitchen essentials just in case...but we ended up not needing ANY of them. They actually keep their knives sharp too!! Only complaint is that the wall between the 2 rooms is VERY thin and does not provide privacy for parents:)

We were very happy with our stay at Camp Hungry! It was relaxing, conveniently located and it was great that they allow pets as we brought our dog. My favorite thing was that you could hear the surf in the distance at night and in the early morning.

The hosts provided a lot of info. on the area, local history and things to do, as well as games, puzzles and books. It does get chilly but we were prepared for it and the provided space heaters helped a lot. We didn't use the wood stove--but that would have made a late-April stay warmer too. We saw some of the other places we'd considered while there and were really pleased we'd made the choice we did. It felt off the beaten path yet close to everything we needed or wanted. The reservation and payment process could be tightened up a bit but that's really our only constructive criticism.

Great cottage! Very clean, and had everything that we needed. We were very happy with our stay, and will definitely stay again sometime!
Megan C. Apr 2010
Property prep was not complete when we arrived; all access issues were resolved late day 2. Otherwise, this was a very nice accommodation.
Stacy A. Mar 2010
We really enjoyed our stay at the beach cottage.we would definatley stay there again.
Tina H. Mar 2010
The cottage had a historic and nostalgia feel to it. Everything we needed was there and the beds are very comfortable.
We were there in early March so the cabin was chilly. There were space heaters available but didn't seem to warm things up fast enough.
The cabin can sleep 6 but I would say it woul be more fitting for just 4 people.
Other than that we had a great time here and hope to stay at this cabin again.
