This one-story Columbia Gorge vacation home is exquisite - filled with Art Nouveau decor, tile and Pergo floors, French doors, and great natural lighting. You'll have two dining areas and three seating rooms, with the main dining room offering built-in cabinetry and a white shabby chic table for seven.
French doors off the living room lead to the backyard and an inside archway will guide you to the great room, which offers vintage floral wallpaper and a cozy wood-burning fireplace. Curl up in the leather armchair by the fire or gaze at the meadows through the windows.
Just off the great room is the fully-equipped kitchen which provides ample space and appliances for a wedding caterer or even the family chef! An additional dining table for four is nestled amongst bay windows and creates an ideal space for family potlucks or casual morning breakfast.
Down the hall is a romantic sun room which boasts vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The white slip covers on the large sofas contrast with the dark wood floors and more Art Nouveau prints to create a gorgeous seating area for family photos.
The third seating room is quaint and also serves as a media center. Get cozy on the bench seating by the window or snuggle on the couch for movie night around the 32-inch flatscreen TV. This Washougal getaway also offers Apple TV which can be used to steam Netflix, Hulu Plus, and more. Gadgets are welcome throughout the property which offers in-house WiFi, as well as a record player in the main dining room that also has iPhone compatibility.
With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, this country estate can welcome up to 12 overnight guests. And there's no need to worry about keeping towels or linens fresh during extended stays as The Ellody offers a washer and dryer.
In the master bedroom, you'll find purple and vintage floral accents, with a queen bed and private bathroom (with a charming double vanity). A second bedroom is painted a soft blue and has unique artwork, a king-size bed, and a mosaic bistro table for two. And in the third bedroom, there's a soft lavender color scheme and built-in glass shelving, floral accents, and a pull-out queen sleeper. Additional sleeping options include two twin beds, a double bed, and a sofabed.
This four-acre property is picturesque with expansive green lawns, flowers, and trees that provide just enough privacy, yet maintain views of the Washougal River and rolling farm hills. Wander hand-in-hand through the garden and raised beds, or relax with a glass of wine on one of several benches and viewpoints that scatter this picturesque property.
A backyard veranda offers a glass and rod iron patio table for four and charcoal grill ideal for outdoor entertaining. The private hot tub is located under a whimsical gazebo and provides a romantic retreat on the grounds. To get to the hot tub, you can follow a bark path off the backyard, complete with twinkling lights to lead your way.
Explore the grounds by foot or discover the endless swimming and hiking spots along the Washougal River. You can make the day trip after a weekend of family festivities into Portland for a famous Voodoo Doughnut, a paperback at Powell's Books, or a showing of the Portland Opera. No matter your pleasure - wedding nuptials or picnics with the family on the lawns, this chateau-style Columbia Gorge vacation rental is a lovely and whimsical retreat!
My husband and I rented this house out to hold our small wedding reception and it was amazing! We had direct family and some close friends fly in from all over the country and we were all able to fit in this beautiful home. We stayed from Friday to late Monday and it was amazing!!
Although the house does have a few things wrong with it but they can be easily fixed... such as:
- there are probably about 5-6 towels in the whole house (but I read past reviews and knew to bring some of my own) and the ones they had smelt like they were soaked in urine so we didn't end up using theirs
- there weren't too many coffee mugs either (but again we brought some of our own because we read past comments)
- a couple of the rooms smelt like mildew (so we went and bought some Febreze and constantly sprayed it throughout the house)
- the outside cushions all had mold on them and smelt gross from being left out in the snow and rain for too long
- pillows were very hard, so we ended up not using them either
All in all though we thought it deserved a 4/5 because the house itself was amazing and on beautiful property, it just needs some TLC and to be redone a little on the inside.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, Sydney! We are delighted to see your stay was mostly enjoyable! We have brought new towels and mugs to the home and spoken with our staff about their cleaning processes. We have also ordered new cushions for our outdoor furniture. Thanks!
Beautiful rooms, yard, deer, and the hot tub. It was all amazing.
The Ellody is a beautiful, spacious and cozy place that is decorated with wonderful style. I enjoyed the views of the surrounding foothills as the mist rolled through them, the warmth of the fireplace, and the comfort of being able to spread out. I hope to be able to spend our next family get together here. It supported 12 of us easily.
Tranquility and Privacy
If someone doesn’t know what to look for, they would never find this gem. If I was to move to the area, this is exactly what I would want in a home.
The view from every window was spectacular. The house is comfortable and kitchen beautifully equipped.
This lovely home is set in such beautiful surroundings! The view from the sun room was just outstanding no matter the time of day. The home was clean, well appointed and just so comfortable. There are so many attractions easily within a few minutes drive. And the scenery on the way is breathtaking. There is enough comfortable seating for several to enjoy chatting by the fire or sitting quietly to enjoy a book. Would not hesitate to visit this home again.
The house was Beautiful, but getting up and having a cup of coffee in the back of the house was absolutely Breath taking, beautiful
We first stayed here two years ago. Loved it. The house is lovely. The location is perfect for our needs. Just overall a great place. It is starting to show some wear and tear though, so just expect that. We're still intending to be back next year though.
The house has many amenities and a lovely setting for a quiet family get together. Kitchen was well-equipped and the bedrooms we're all very nice. The nearby River was only a short walk away.
Quiet and everything you need is there.
But driving instructions could be improved😐
The home and grounds were beautiful! Plenty of room to roam on the grounds. The house itself is laid out in a way that offered plenty of options for sleeping arrangements for our party of 7, so everyone was happy with their accommodations. I think my favorite part was watching the bunnies hop about through the back garden in the mornings while sipping coffee.
Love the rambler setup. House is awesome, backyard view is just too good. It is a bit isolated, which is very good if you want to spend time in peace and be near to nature.
Stayed for 6 nights. Beautifully decorated. Clean, bright, with many outdoor scenes to choose from. The sun room was just amazing. Highly recommend
We were a party of 12 and were very comfortable, the house and yard are very spacious and clean. Would totally stay again and will definitely be recommending!
Great views, comfortable areas to visit or play games and plenty of room!
We really liked the quiet of The Ellody but found it easy to visit the local sites
Loved the house, it was very clean with lovely amenities. Will try to stay here the next time we visit the area.
The house was great, but the views from outside where spectacular.
Tranquility at its best, wonderful selection of books and records. The roads a bit rocky, but worth it.
If you want to get away from the city for a few days to reunite with old friends or family, this is the perfect spot! It had more than enough space for me and 11 of my friends. We didn't feel like we were all on top of each other, though we did have to coordinate our showers to preserve hot water. It was nice to feel secluded in our little hideaway, though we were close enough to get out to the Colombia River Gorge for a wedding and to Portland to do a little sight seeing.
Be aware that the road up to the house is possible, but not easy with a sedan. If you're renting a car, I would recommend getting something with AWD. There is also little to no reception at the house, and you will lose reception on the drive over, so don't rely entirely on Google Maps. Wifi is great though and can be used to communicate once you're there.
Great property. There were negatives listed below, but those can be fixed. The house has a management company (Vacasa) so I think they will fix them and your stay will be totally trouble free.
This is a large home in the middle of the woods, so temper your expectations; things don't work smoothly like a house located in the city.
It's beautifully laid out with a beautiful view from every room in the house. The property is surrounded by the woods and the garden has beautiful flowers. All in all very nice views and make for very nice photos.
And it's secluded and quiet.
Those are the positives. Small negatives: Many items listed as available amenities couldn't be found or are broken. For us, it was the missing hairdryer and iron, and the broken corkscrew. The wifi is available but, since we're in the middle of the woods, is very weak. Sending emails and messages, ok. Sending photos, not.
Big negative: The property comes with a separate bedroom in the back. It smells so moldy we couldn't use it. It turned out we didn't really need it because there were only 11 of us and mostly couples, so that's ok, but if you were counting on that room, maybe because you were counting on the "maximum 13 people" occupancy, or your group has a lot of single people, then you'd be short of places to sleep.
Also big negative: The house is already low on number of bathrooms, only 2 baths. One of the toilets doesn't flush, and one of the showers has very weak water pressure (again, middle of the woods). So we were down to just one bathroom.
Many of these things can be fixed, so if they can be fixed, it'll be a very enjoyable stay.
We are happy to see this was an enjoyable stay despite some negatives. The property manager has replaced the hair dryer, iron, and corkscrew. The toilet is fixed, and housekeeping is working on eliminating the musty smell. Unfortunately, due to there being only one internet provider in the area, there is nothing that can be done about the WiFi at this time. Thanks!
I loved my stay here! The minute we drove up the driveway it was like we had entered an old Victorian manner. The house was beautiful and spacious. I found it very clean with all the extra pillows and blankets my family of 11 needed. The view of the Christmas tree farm in the back was very charming and the flowers around the house where beautiful. The hottub was well kept. I have no complaints. I felt like I was staying somewhere special, not just a hotel or a house. Lovely.
Overall, this is very nice property. It is a little ways out of town, but that affords some privacy as well. The house is definitely large enough for 12 people. You need to bring your own items for cooking as what is there is very limited. It is a great place for a large family to stay at.
We couldn't get out of this place fast enough. The list of things wrong with it: Many lightbulbs were out, toilet roll dispensers broken, sink stopper broken in kitchen, toilet in master difficult to flush and ran continuously, smell of old bacon grease was disgusting and throughout main kitchen and living area, tried to clean stove filters but sink stopper was broken so couldn't soak it, stove hood caked with old grease, floors filthy in corners, yard was wrecked from multiple windstorms and neglect, downspouts were broken and loud so husband had to go fix them in the middle of the night on a chair himself in the pouring rain, couches were stained and filthy, all mattresses were old hard completely worn out futon style mattresses that were miserable to sleep on, large broken branches and trees that seemed unsafe in the yard so kept kids inside, place was so awful we left after only one night because we couldn't get decent sleep there and went back home to Seattle cutting our trip short by 2 days. We never even tried to take a shower so can't speak to whether they work or not. The place needs MAJOR maintenance and all mattresses replaced. Also the tree farm view is very pretty but the rest of the pictures of the area were a bit misleading. I was expecting a sunny open hillside with a nice walk down to a river, not a dark muddy hole surrounded by mossy trees, a noisy road and river in a dark ravine below with a dangerous walk across traffic to get to it. Literally one of the worst rentals we've ever stayed in.
We are incredibly disappointed to read about this guest's experience and thoughts regarding the home. The house has been deep cleaned, the toilet roll dispenser has been replaced, and the landscaping has been cleaned up. Thank you!
Very nice home. Family had a great time. This home is definitely for relaxing and enjoying yourself and your family quietly or loudly since the nearest neighbor is quieted a distance. Same owners have a guest house that was past some trees but nobody seemed to be in it at the time we were there.
We stayed for a wedding in Oregon that was 30 minutes away so it was perfect location to Troutdale. Everyone love the room that was surrounded by windows. You can see the hills and trees as it was perfect for drinking coffee and relaxing, talking, or reading. This would be the perfect summer home.
Only complaint honestly was the master bathroom. I loved the rockery in the shower, but it emitted a sulphuric smell when the water hit it. Originally I thought it was the water, but it turned out to be the shower stall itself. Beautiful to look at, but the odor was a bit much for my wife. Didn't bother me too much.
We stayed a week prior to Christmas 2016. House is large enough to have slept our eventual 10 comfortably. Location is great if you have family in Washougal, Camus, or Vancouver. Washougal river road is windy, but well maintained with Washougal only 10 mins away. Great location just above the Washougal river, can't see too much of the river but you can hear it when outside. Very quiet location and very beatiful view out the back window.
House is very roomy and open. We didnt use the TV at all, but it is Apple TV if you were to use it and the directions are there to walk you through. Internet worked flawlessly. Phone service is difficult for cell service, but there is a land line at the house. My family has Verizon, we seemed to have the best connectivity w/phones.
Overall, a very pleasant stay with only some minor issues with the house that I disscussed with a very proactive management team.
We had five of us in town for a Spartan Race, which was only 2.5 miles from this location. Weather was perfect. House was lovely. Location was great. Overall just very happy.
We stayed at the Ellody to be able to have a place for family in town for my son's wedding. The house was 2 miles from the wedding location and was perfect for our group of 12. The property is beautiful and provided a relaxing and quiet place to relax before the wedding. The sunsets and early mornings were amazing as we sat in the backyard overlooking the Christmas tree farm. What a perfect setting for a very special family event! Thank you for a wonderful home.
The home provided ample space and sleeping arrangements for large group. The view and surrounding area is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.
Was a lovely home and the views were magnificent !
This is a spacious property on a beautiful setting. It is a very nice house. The decorations are unique and a little unusual. However, we had a blast and really enjoyed the place. The setting it amazing. It is about a 15-20 minute drive to Washougal, but is close to some very nice sites and hikes. The Mercantile store is near. So, if you need some quick groceries, they are available. It is important to know that you need a Washington discovery pass to go to many of the sites. It is $35 per year.
It's a beautiful house and we would rent again!
The manager refunded our cleaning deposit due to not enough linens, very dirty floors, no working vacuum for us to use to clean them, filthy main bath, and the linens that were provided did not look or smell clean, and were very dark in color. Kitchen not very well stocked. Hot water heater only supported 2 showers, third person took a cold shower. No garbage disposal available. Very muddy, rutted uphill, driveway..vehicle spinning tires as it tried to make it up. Washer and dryer provided, with a huge list of how it can't do much of anything, so be careful of it. No laundry detergent provided, but we brought out own. Towels were wet on arrival. Hot tub buttons/controls pushed in permanently. Master bedroom very small bed, and extremely soft and jiggly. Very decent home, but not well kept, and not well provided for guests, so it wasn't a comfortable stay.
The Property Manager is aware of these complaints and will work with housekeeping and the owner to come up with solutions for our future guests. We apologize that this stay was not more pleasant.
A quiet area that is approximately 20 minutes from town. Be prepared to bring along specific kitchenware as there are only the minimal pieces and very few kitchen washrags/towels. Cleanliness is average, keeping in mind that this is a rental property. If future tenants plan on using the washer/dryer, please tell them ahead of time of the HE required detergents.
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent 7 day stay at The Ellody. The location is beautiful and the views from all the living areas were amazing. It was close enough to Portland to run in for day trips and dinner, but also isolated enough for some much needed R&R. We were visiting the area to attend a wedding, and several members of our family stayed with us at The Ellody. It was a wonderful place for a family reunion.
We hosted our very small wedding ceremony at the Ellody, and it was absolutely perfect. The house is neat and comfortable, and the surrounding land amazingly beautiful. Ample sleeping space, nice big kitchen, and striking art and rugs. A very homey place.
The bumpy driveway would be the only thing I'd work on, add gravel and smooth it out.
Otherwise this is a beautiful, warm home, perfect for any number of functions. We will rent again and would definitely recommend this location to friends and family.
We took our CDYM youth for a mission trip to Portland, OR. Because it was during summer time, it was hard to secure a hotel room and it if there was anything available, it was very expensive. So I researched on vacation rental homes and found two that have become a part of our amazing trip to Portland. We stayed at the Farmhouse on the Bluff and the Ellody. They were amazing place to be as our youth have never stayed in a farm or even come close to one, much less the elegant beauty of The Ellody. Eventhough, the place so far away, the drive alone and the driveway was such a blessed experience. We called the driveway our roller coaster. Each day we drove for a bit on hour to get to our destination and we just sang songs and was able to get more acquainted with one another.
All in all, these two places, the Farmhouse on the Bluff and the Ellody was such an amazing place to be. We are blessed we stayed and we would come back again. I would also strongly commend it to anyone.
Thank you for making our youth enjoy this trip.
Christ Driven Youth Ministry Trip 2015
What a wonderful, beautiful place. We had a baby newborn deer in the front yard as an added bonus. One of the best spots you could stay.
