The interior decor features bright and mellow colors, providing a great atmosphere for relaxation. The kitchen is fully-equipped with modern appliances, useful utensils, and with 1930's cabinetry and antique Art Nouveau light fixtures sprinkled throughout. What's nearby: Cream City Cottage is perched in a tranquil neighborhood that's just 0.3 of a mile from Ferndale's historic downtown, with its ice cream parlor, homemade candy shop, galleries, fine restaurants, saloons (really!), parades, theater, frequent live music, and plenty of more fun activities you can choose from! From its well-preserved Victorian-era main street to its five-minute drive from California’s magnificent, undeveloped Lost Coast, Ferndale is a surprising trip back in time, with just enough modern quirkiness to make it unique. Maybe now you get why Forbes named Ferndale one of America's Prettiest Towns! Nestled between the two redwood forests in a thriving dairy community, you may discover Northern California's best-kept secret, The Victorian Village of Ferndale. You'll be within walking distance to one of Ferndale's institutions: Poppa Joe’s - the only diner where customers arrive before staff.

We were looking for a place to unwind. This house was very comfortable and well equipped. We had most of our meals in and enjoyed the ability to walk a block to Main Street for a morning coffee. Don't miss the Catholic Church down the street.

The house is cute. It needs better lighting in bathroom and master bedroom. The water in the bathroom takes at least 5 minutes to get warm. No privacy in living areas, they need window coverings .
We appreciate you staying with us and leaving your review. The homeowner is replacing the ceiling light fixtures in the bedrooms and will be adding curtains in the living area for privacy. The bathroom bulb has been changed to a brighter LED bulb. The hot water heater is new, so we have scheduled a plumber to come to the house to advise on why it is taking so long for the hot water to get to the bathroom. Thank you!
One of the top places of some 40 places we have stayed while crossing the USA twice. The home is very spacious, quiet, warm and decorated with age fitting furniture and decor as it is a very old home. The king bed is super comfortable, great water pressure and temperature, and the kitchen has a large refrig/freezer plus all you need to make a complete meal. We used the washer and dryer and it worked well. The location is within the heart of Ferndale, an easy stroll to the cute town. We would stay here again...for sure!
Second time staying here. Great location.
House was awesome. Very cozy and clean. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need to prepare a meal. Beds and baths were nice and very clean. Two fireplaces that took the chill off and operate on a thermostat. Very convenient.. Interior of house was decorated Victorian style and was very functional. Will return again. Have family in town and they were also impressed with the house. Lot of history in Ferndale. Wonderful place to visit. Walking distance to most everything.
We very much enjoyed this home. There was plenty of room, a nice backyard, and it was only blocks away from the downtown shops.
We rented the Cream City Cottage while visiting family in the area. It worked perfectly for my mom, my teen daughter, and myself. It was comfortable and clean and very quiet. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with pots & pans and other cooking/eating utensils. Easy to get to and within walking distance of all the shops in Ferndale. Relatively central for driving to the beaches or the Redwoods this is a great rental and we'll be renting here again for future trips to visit our family again.
Excellent, comfortable, great location, wonderful community...can't praise it enough. Will definitely recommend. Maybe not suited for "partying type renters" since it is a quiet setting.
We needed to find a spot in Ferndale to stay because of the Tom Rush Concert at the Old Steeple in May, 2019. The cottage was perfectly located, just a block's walk from downtown Ferndale and 4 bocks from the venue. The cottage was perfectly clean and well-equipped. We only stayed 2 nights, but would have been happy to stay longer with the family. It was like visiting my great aunt's house . . . but then she left for the weekend. We got prompt replies from the management for incidental questions. The towns-people were friendly and gracious.
Great little cottage in Ferndale within easy walking distance of downtown. Cottage was clean and perfect for our needs. Would stay there again!
We stay here when visiting family in the area. This place is always clean and cozy with comfy beds and furniture. The outside yards are beautiful and well cared for. The inside is comfortable and has everything you need. The location is wonderful for walking to the theatre to see a show or the many restaurants. Ferndale pizza Co., The restaurant at the Victorian Inn, and The Ridgetop cafe by the Humboldt creamery. We enjoy cooking and have gotten meat from the Ferndale Meat Co. yum, also the market there has anything you need. The management is always friendly and helpful. I recommend this lovely place as it’s our go to when visiting.
Clean, super comfortable, safe and the house has everything you need.
House was very comfortable and well located near the center of Ferndale. Gas stoves kept the house very warm and it was well stocked with all kitchen utensils. Beds very comfortable. Only recommended improvement is to snake out the kitchen sink to ensure it drains quicker. Would definitely come back again.
The little house was located within walking distance to downtown shopping and restaurants. It was sweet, clean, and just what we needed. The beds were comfortable, kitchen fully equipped, and the furnishings were old, but charming and functional. We enjoyed our stay.
Second stay here We love this cottage Warm, comfortable, fully furnished, old fashioned charm and perfect location We will be back! Thank you Helen and Ray
This property is the perfect place to stay. We have stayed here several times and love the convenience and charm. It has ample amenities minus a dishwasher. The front and backyards are wonderful to have. It is situated in town so walking and exploring is a must. The adorable town of Ferndale is friendly and charming.
We had a wonderful stay in the Cream City Cottage. It is very spacious, comfortable, very clean and walking distance to Main St. Beds were oh so comfy! Everything you need is there. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!
This was the perfect place for 5 of us to get away and explore the coast for a few days. Easy walk to downtown Ferndale for coffee, restaurants and shopping. The folks at Redwood Coast Rentals were responsive, helpful and friendly.
In the area for a mini family reunion so with family from Eureka to Rio Dell it was centrally located.
Our overall stay was above average. Plenty of living space both indoor and out. Enjoyed fireplace, breakfast nook and washer/dryer. Quaint town a delight. Most of all, customer service A+.
The cottage worked perfectly for 4 guys in Ferndale for the Tour of the Unknown Coast bicycle century ride.
What a great place for a family to stay to explore the Ferndale and the coast of California. We had a fantastic time and the house was perfect. We will definitely stay there again.
