Peace, tranquility, beach access, and gorgeous waterfront views - dogs OK

Grab your sketchbook and embark on a journey to this wonderful, artistic, and dog-friendly Nordland vacation rental. Waterfront views from the wrap-around deck will be your inspiration for stunning seascapes as you sip a cup of black coffee, pick up your pencils or watercolors, and find the inspiration you've been seeking. You can even head down a charming wooden staircase for private beach access.

Tucked into a little nook on the stunning Marrowstone Island on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula, this lovely beach house is only 50 miles from Seattle and 17 miles to Port Townsend for restaurants, galleries, and other attractions.

Adorned with retro furniture from the 1950s and 60s, this home was built with a personal touch by artist Douglas Bennett. Many of the sculptures, artwork, and lighting throughout the house are his designs. Gorgeous hardwood floors, spacious rooms, and fantastic views of the water from every window in the house will make your stay in this home truly something special.

A beautiful open floor plan will entice you to spend nearly all of your time in the living room, dining room, and kitchen area. Piano players rejoice! A lovely grand piano is in the living room, so whether you are an expert or just barely know how to pluck out "Heart and Soul," you'll be able to have a musical vacation.

The living room also makes family game nights a must. Plenty of board games for adults and children are included. Literature lovers will also be happy with the selection of books on the shelves in the living room. In the evening, don't forget about the TV with a Blu-ray player and included movie library!

Calling all chefs! The gorgeous gourmet kitchen is complete with pots and pans hanging from the ceiling, a small bistro table, and a large selection of cookbooks. Have the chef in the group cook you something in the lovely kitchen, using all of the modern appliances available. Coffee lovers never need fear, because this home is equipped with a coffeemaker, espresso machine, and French press.

Three bedrooms will give you plenty of room for up to four adults and two children (the maximum occupancy is six). One king-size bed is upstairs in a large, spacious room, while there is another queen-size bed in the home's attached guest suite. Another bedroom on the main floor has two twin-size beds – excellent for sleeping the kids! And make sure to take note of the sofa bed in the living room.

Three tiled bathrooms with their own bathtubs/showers, will give everyone the space they need to shower off after a dip in the salty water, and don't forget your very own washer/dryer for washing off those swimsuits! WiFi access is also available to keep you in touch with loved ones back home. Speaking of loved ones back home, don't forget to take your favorite furry friends with you – up to two dogs are allowed in this beach house with an additional fee.

Step outside to the wrap-around deck and sketch the beautiful view of the water as the sun sets. You'll want to sit out on the patio furniture and chat, grilling up burgers on the gas grill, or maybe heading down your private staircase to the beach for a romantic moonlit walk. Afterwards, head out to the garage for a family Foosball competition!

Let the gorgeous Olympic Peninsula be your stomping ground! Experience some of the best hiking and natural beauty in the world, go horseback riding, try your hand at sailing, or go on a search for the Sasquatch, the Pacific Northwest's very own fabled forest-dwelling creature.

If you're not really the outdoorsy type, no problem! Take a day trip into Port Townsend and explore all of the galleries, unique shops, and yummy restaurants (like Sirens Pub and Sweet Laurette Cafe & Bistro) that your heart could ever desire. If that's not enough, there are plenty of wineries on the island and beyond – wine connoisseurs are sure to be very pleased! Nearby Sequim is home to the John Wayne Marina, Oak Table Restaurant, and Dungeness Spit, just bout 30 minutes away.

Whether you decide to release your inner day tripper or just stay in your Olympic Peninsula vacation rental and let the beautiful natural surroundings inspire you and your artwork, you are sure to be very happy with your Washington getaway! A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

7 days of bliss. The amenities, layout and location of this home are ideal!

Beautiful place. Very relaxing.
Mary C. Jan 2020
The house is gorgeous, right on the water, with picture windows overlooking Puget Sound. Large loft bedroom, also with views, comfortable bed, office space and sitting room. Main floor is open concept with woodstove and baby grand piano. Loved it.
optumRX G. Dec 2019
The views first of all are great from inside or outside on the deck so no matter the weather you can enjoy it.

The house is full of everything you might need and the artwork is incredible. Perfect place for the grandparents, mom and dad and the kids. The upstairs suite is huge with those same views and a large soaking tub. Downstairs is the bedroom for the kids - 2 twins. There is also a separate suite with it's on entrance, kitchenette and bathroom.
Barbara W. Nov 2019
Wonderful view and great beach!
carla l. Nov 2019
great place to watch boats of all sizes and shapes. We even got to see a sub again this year. missed out on the Nimitz leaving.
Had everything we needed for Thanksgiving dinner except a cookie sheet for the biscuits. Hope they get one soon. We love it and so do our kids. thanks for sharing with us again,
Don O. Oct 2019
Loved the privacy, quietness, and most of all watching eagles and sea life from the deck. Our dog loved it too. What dog doesn't like a nice walk along the beach?
Laura S. Sep 2019
Loved the view and the open floor plan.
ginger D w. Sep 2019
Being on the water even though the weather was poor except for one day.
Becca J. Sep 2019
Great family getaway!
Nathan M. Sep 2019
Great deck, great beach access, gourmet kitchen. Space for 2 couples. Piano was a bonus, music every night.
Joan S. Aug 2019
We loved bringing our family together to this great home in a beautiful setting. We watched seals and otters and looked up some of the larger ships going by to see where they were from. The home is light and bright and twenty five minutes to Port Townsend.
Tori M. Jul 2019
So relaxed and private getaway. Perfect for family with kids and pets. Would definitely go back again.
Heather S. Jun 2019
This is a lovely house in an absolutely stunning location. The house was secluded, despite neighbors. The back deck stairs down to the beach - while rickety and in need of some TLC - were perfect for beachcombing and a little bit of a chilly dip in the Sound. The neighbors were quite friendly, and one stopped by while walking his dog on the beach to make sure we didn't have any issues.
The view from the house is incredible. We could see both Mount Rainier and Mount Baker on clear days, and all sorts of pleasure craft and larger ships were piloted in and out. Bald eagles hunted in the Sound, and cheeky hummingbirds and starlings dive-bombed us to say hello. The garden is beautiful, and both the gardener and the groundskeeper were very friendly.
Marrowstone Island as a whole is a very special place, where we felt instantly welcomed and at home. Be sure to visit the winery, as well as the goat cheese farm by the general store!
The house was not without its quirks - the master bathtub needs a better shower curtain and some mold removal near the base, the sheets on the master bed were made for some other, smaller bed, and the electrical system was a bit flaky. There's plenty of methods to brew coffee, but be sure to buy some at the general store on the way in to Nordland - there's no coffee provided. (We left our leftovers.) Also, I wish the couch facing the TV were more comfortable. The armchair and ottoman are lovely, though.
Overall, very worth the visit, and we will be back as often as we can. It felt like home, thanks to the handwritten notes everywhere. It was as if my grandparents had let me stay in their beach house for a weekend.
Anna-Karin W. Apr 2019
Great kitchen for cooking. Stunning views. Comfortable bed upstairs. Really nice setup with an office area upstairs, away from the social area downstairs.

Nice outdoor deck. Access to the water via stairs, though I did not go down as it was cold and windy.

Only oddness is that the thermostats don't work. Heat either blasts on, or is off. It was not a big problem, just be aware!
Linda W. Apr 2019
eagles flying by...quiet in a very secluded setting- considering there were houses nearby.
Eric B. Apr 2019
We made another set of wonderful family memories on Marrowstone! This house is a special place where nature takes center stage: we spent so much time on the beach during lovely spring sun. A bald eagle perched in the tree closest to the house as we were leaving (wow!).

I would note this house has wonderful accommodations, but has a few quirks that may not be for everyone. Strongly recommend for families that want to be in a remote-ish area, surrounded by nature, with a taste for modern art, and who love to cook. Can you start a wood-stove? You're set! (If you need everything to be just like a fancy hotel, this probably isn't your spot.)
Many thanks to the owners for sharing! Breaks my heart to leave every time.
Jim A. Mar 2019
This house was even better than we expected! Fantastic views ! Easy access to the quiet and secluded beach . The master bedroom was awesome. Very well stocked kitchen with everything you need . We will be coming back without a doubt !
Andrew M. Mar 2019
The changing views, the wildlife and the beach.
carla l. Nov 2018
We love this house, easy access to beach, great view of mountains, ships/boats as well as the wildlife on land and in the water.
Megan J. Oct 2018
We loved everything about this house. The house is gorgeous, open, clean and has breathtaking biews of the water and mountains. We would go back again in heartbeat!
Lynne K. Oct 2018
Peaceful, lovely atmosphere and comfortable home. Loved hearing the waves lapping on the beach and watching all types of watercraft (sailboats to barges to cruise ships) passing back and forth. Local store a few miles away sells basics and there's a well stocked grocery store (QFC) about 15 minutes away in Port Hadlock. Otherwise it's just island life on about 3/4 of a wooded acre. Truly a vacation.
Richard K. Sep 2018
The view was the only thing nice about this home
Jennifer L. Aug 2018
We were a 3 generation family (ages 3-79) and found this house to be spacious and comfortable. The kids loved the beach and found a number of sea creatures including anemones. The beds were comfortable and the room with a private entrance was ideal for my brother-in-law. It was very peaceful and had great views of the sailboats, tugs, and barges that passed through the sound. It is a 10 min drive to grocery/hardware store and near Fort Flagler and Marrowstone Vineyards (live music on weekends). Overall, this was a nice home that fit our needs.
Karen G. Aug 2018
The views and privacy and access to beach.
Nancy B. Aug 2018
Highly recommend this vacation rental. Overlooks the sound. Great deck and the access to the beach was a great bonus House was perfect for us, 4 adults and a child. Great kitchen. Enjoyed the book collection. Most of all enjoyed the view and beach.
Catherine S. Jul 2018
Beautiful view, very private and plenty of space in the well stocked house. Only thing that needs an update is the BBQ- it's a bit of a mess. That being I would not hesitate to book it again.
Christiane K. Jul 2018
fantastic location, extraordinary view, lovely house with original designers furniture. Kids loved playing the grand piano.
Jessica L. Jun 2018
The house was beautiful and the location was perfect. We appreciated that we could bring our dogs, too!
Kristen R. May 2018
We stayed here as a family celebration of life memorial getaway looking to relax and be on the water. The home fit the bill 100% . Private access to walks along the beach, the open floor plan with 180 degree views of the water, lots of room, and privacy. Quiet, only the sound of the water lapping on the shore and fog horns one wet day.
The added bonus for us was the piano ! Our grown children joined us , one is a studio artist came with her boyfriend , a photographer , and their corgi, the other is a performing pianist/ keyboard player. The home was stocked with plenty of sheet music , including a few pieces he has been working on. Great care has been made to assure the acoustics of the space are perfect.
We cooked and served a lot of meals from the well equipped kitchen that even had a few staples we missed bringing. We had friends join us for the weekend , no problem with the extra leaves for the table.
Our only suggestion is installing a grab bar in the master bath and some blinds . As seniors, one with two prosthetic hips , the shower was a challenge but with two other full baths we made out just fine. Others have mentioned the seating around the TV. We actually liked this as when the younger generation were playing video games , they hooked up their console and were separate from us. We also saw that the TV swings out from the wall to accommodate more viewers. We didn't come for the TV and never watched it .
Coming from a long winter in the Rockies it really was a vacation to remember. Highly recommend this home and hope to return.
BETH S. Apr 2018
We have stayed many places around the world.....this provided a place for my 73 rd bday the was absolutely perfect.
Joan S. Apr 2018
We were a group of four women off for the weekend. It suited our needs and we were comfortable.
Michael C. Mar 2018
Great views, easy access to the beach, nice private setting
Eddie W. Mar 2018
The two of us stayed for three nights. What a wonderful experience. We wanted to move in. Fully furnished, and then some. The decor is unique and very interesting. The access to the beach is unique and there are not too many places with direct access. The seating (living room and T.V. area), could use a little help. It is not very comfortable and will not accommodate more than two people. Don't forget to drive down E. Marrowstone for the fresh eggs. There is a general store 5 minutes away that is well stocked. There is also a QFC 15 minutes away with a few other amenities and stores, restaurants. We cooked all our meals in the wonderful kitchen. Oh, Marrowstone Island Shellfish (5 minutes away), has fresh crab and clams. Be sure to call first. We will definitely return.

Rita O. Feb 2018
We loved our short escape from the city to this gem of a property. Spectacular view, gorgeous beach, well-equipped kitchen. Loved the decor and books. Our senses were stimulated in every way.
DANA M. Jan 2018
We had a fantastic visit to Washington. This house was so awesome it was hard to leave to do any site seeing.
Graham K. Jan 2018
We took a short spontaneous break there during a stormy weekend in January and were more than happy just to chill out and take in the stunning view of Puget Sound. Loved the 60s decor, the artwork, great kitchen and huge bedroom. Don’t understand the 1 star review that says the place was cold - the place warms up quickly and the wood burning stove gives off tons of heat - we were really snug against the elements. Thoroughly recommended!!
Karen S. Jan 2018
We had such a great time! The views are spectacular. The fireplace keeps the whole downstairs cozy. The home is well-stocked, including the kitchen with pots, pans and other cooking equipment. Great beach access, and close enough to Port Townsend to have a fun day trip. We all loved it-kids and dog included!
Tamara L. Nov 2017
This property combines an open floor plan and expansive views of the rustic beach and water with cozy furnishings, interesting artwork, and large sleeping areas. It worked well for our vacation with extended family: a couple with two school-aged kids, a single adult, and an octagenarian were accommodated comfortably.
Joanne B. Oct 2017
If you want a house with a 180 water view, a quiet setting, comfortable beautiful interior, this place is for you. We were very comfortable and happy for 4 days here. We would definitely rent this house again.
Patrycja M. Oct 2017
This house location is perfect !!!! Your own beach to stroll down , pets welcome . Enjoy morning coffee on this deck overlooking the beautiful Puget Sound . We saw sea otters playing on the beach and In the water , we also watched many boats and ships come and go . The home is comfortable and the art work great , we love the artistic touches all over . The kitchen well stocked . Port Townsend near by , as well as Quilcene and lots of areas near by for beach combing and hiking . We enjoyed using the wood stove and the wood that was already there for our use ! Thank you for an amazing stay !!!!
Carol T. Sep 2017
The very low tide in front of this house opened up a large swatch of the bay for beachwalks and was very cool. We saw deer on beach, porpoises and seals in the water. The windows from the master bedroom gave a beautiful view of stars and moon at night. Could use a bigger pot for boiling crab, but otherwise the kitchen had everything we needed, and there was a very nice grill. No DVDs in the house, though, so we couldn't watch movies, but that just meant we played more games. Loved having the piano in the house.
Judy W. Sep 2017
Beautiful, quiet beach house for family gathering.
Cary R. Jul 2017
Simply--House, grounds, beach all incredibly wonderful and comfortable! House very well appointed! You will not be disappointed!
Terry R. Jun 2017
Our stay was wonderful. We had perfect weather and walked on the beach every day. The views from the house are about as perfect as they could possibly be. A house "book" with information is badly needed, as there are lots and lots of different signs to find and read relating to various things. One place for that would help greatly. No instructions for the t.v./sound system, and couldn't find bbq tools for the bbq. But all in all, a fabulous vacation in a beautiful location. Comfortable beds and great sheets and towels.
Judy A. Feb 2017
This property is just as advertised. In a secluded area about 25-30 minute drive from Port Townsend. Well appointed and the view can not be beat. To the left was Mt Baker, in front was the north Cascade range and to the far right, Mt Rainier. Stunning! Very quiet place with bald eagles, scoters, red mergansers and loons to watch in the sky and water below. The separate room, ( which is around the covered porch from the main door) was great for my husband and I. It gave our son, daughter - in - law and granddaughter their own space and allowed us to retreat at night and sleep in till 8am (granddaughter is an early riser and is very active in the morning)!
Tim M. Jan 2017
we will be back for more! Great house and great location.
Wade L. Nov 2016
Great place to watch passing ships throughout the day and night. Let the waves put you to sleep. Great kitchen tools. bring something extra to share with the next people who stay, {canned goods, pasta, anything non perishable) . Extend your time if you can, any weather, stormy was great, ships still pass by.
Tim M. Oct 2016
Fantastic calming weekend away. Amazingly stocked kitchen, wood stove and a view. What else do you need?
Elaine E. Oct 2016
Location is great and the area is quiet. Very nice place to get away from it all.
Cheryl J. Oct 2016
Private oasis, right on the beach, gorgeous views. GREAT cooking kitchen with wonderful dishes and equipment. If you don't like to cook, this kitchen might encourage you! We loved the open space, the peace, and overall feeling of the property. We'd definitely re-book and look forward to a return. Consider buying insurance in case you have to cancel; we will next time because we had some health issues and could not cancel. We made it work and came anyway. No regrets.
Stephen W. Aug 2016
This is one of the most beautiful, well equipped homes I have ever rented.
Angela C. Aug 2016
I have stayed in many places on Marrowstone Island and this is by far the most beautiful and well appointed. The house is very spacious and full of lovely mid-century furniture and original art and sculpture. The deck is larger than it looks in the photographs, and it's rare to find a house with functioning stairs down to the beach. The beach itself facing Admiralty Inlet is spectacular - not overcrowded or too well-traveled. My dog and I took lovely morning walks every day and almost never ran into anyone. The kitchen has everything you need (well, I couldn't find any large cutting knives, but luckily I always bring my own so it wasn't an issue.) The piano was even well tuned which was a great surprise! A walk to the Nordland General Store is only twenty minutes, and the drive to Fort Flagler is about ten. This is a great house, and well worth spending several days there. You never get tired of the view.
Connie V. Jul 2016
beautiful furnishings and artwork, clearly done by an architect. incredibly well stocked kitchen with items most people don't even have at home. Fantastic place for a group of foodie women to have a vacation...
Lisa S. Jul 2016
We had a short extended family vacation here and loved it (6 adults). Beautiful area, nice atmosphere to the house. Don't let your friends pull up the staircase while you're on the beach or you'll have a hard time getting back up. ;)
Adina M. Jun 2016
This is a wonderful place. You can walk right down the stairs to the beach. The view is tremendous - being able to see both Mount Baker and Mount Rainier is stunning. The wood stove is cozy on misty days, and the outdoor deck is a great place for sunny times. The kitchen is stocked with plates, utensils, baking pans, coffee maker, etc. The grand piano is fun! The view from the upstairs bedroom, which is light and airy, can't be beat. I do think potential renters should know that the third bedroom isn't really part of the main house, although it is attached and can be reached easily via an exterior door. It's more of a mother-in-law studio and is somewhat sparse. It would be good for a teenager who wants to get away from the main family living space.
Andrew M. Jun 2016
This property is amazing in its ability to take you away to a place of relaxation and contemplation. Do not come with an agenda, let the place direct you.
Richard S. May 2016
Great kitchen! Great view!
Stacey B. May 2016
A beautiful and serene location perfect for an active artist's mind. I will be back!
Hilary R. May 2016
We loved this house and the views from the deck/living room, we saw seals and bald eagels all day. It's also a dog friendly property, good grass lawn with lots of sniffs, but if your dog has trouble with stairs they wont be able to get to the beach. loved the privacy
Eli Q. Apr 2016
Loved this place!
William P. Apr 2016
We are checking dates in the fall and would very much like to stay a week in the spring and a week in the fall.
Zaakera And Sean S. Jan 2016
Loved the location and the home. Lots of Windows, beautiful view, quiet and serene. We were able to take the dogs for a walk on the beach at low tide which was awesome. The kitchen was beautifully stocked and I loved having the cast Iron pans which made it feel like home. The furniture was great and overall we enjoyed all the decor and simplicity of the home. The upstairs bath was like being at a mini spa and when laying in bed you can look out at the water. It was an amazing space to run away for a few days and simply be!
Elizabeth M. Jan 2016
Beautiful property in a wonderful location.
Julie H. Jan 2016
Simply gorgeous view from practically every room. Bed upstairs so comfy. Easy to live in house. Super private location. Everything we need and wanted and more. Husband is quite tall, shower wands were very low which is a minor negative. We can't say enough good things about this house, the location, the feel of it, etc!!
Cameron P. Oct 2015
Three of us stayed for a couple of nights and just fell in love with this house. My husband commented that it is his favorite home we've rented. Watching the shipping traffic and wildlife was great. The house is a fun combination of old and new architectural elements and art, with an open floor plan that takes full advantage of it's setting. The kitchen is fully stocked, with an amazing array of gadgets. We did find some cooking pans and other things not clean, which was a hassle, but everything else in the house was immaculate. Lots of big fluffy towels and other things to make the stay better.

The only other downside was one of the three bedrooms advertised was not made up. Since we only needed two rooms and the upstairs bedroom was perfect for us, it wasn't a problem, but if you need three rooms or need two on the ground floor (which is another lovely advantage of this home, that there are two on the ground level) be sure to state that when you inquire.

Would come back again in a heartbeat. Don't hesitate, it's a great home and an amazing setting. Don't miss the little neighborhood store, either, it's worth a stop!
