Although the carpets were stained (but appeared cleaned) and the lighting was the worst, the part that bothered us both was the damp musty smell throughout the house. Even after opening windows it was still there and permeated everything to the point it all had to be left in the garage until cleaned and washed. Although outdated it looked clean and served it's purpose. The walk to the beach is a nice short walk but some parts are a little steep.
Thank you for your review, Angela. We're sorry to hear that there were a few things amiss during your time with us. We have taken these comments back to our local staff and since your stay have had a chance to address the smell that was present. We do hope that we have another chance in the future to impress you.
Location is amazing. A nice place for a casual trip to the coast. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but it is warm and quiet.
Everything we expected and more. We really enjoyed our stay. And plan to make another visit in the future, we may bring a Manopoly game next time, thank you so much for everything.
We didn't think this place was a good value, as the "cons" outweighted the "pros."
- Good beach access down a nice wooded trail
- Decent ocean views
- Dog friendly accommodation
- Pet fees were overpriced ($200 for 4 nights)
- Terrible lighting. The only room with adequate lighting was the bathroom. Not enough light in the kitchen to prepare a decent meal or at the dining room table to play board games at night.
- Place was shabby, especially for the high nightly rate. We don't mind outdated, so long as things are functional.
- Sliding glass door (front entry) is really hard to open/close.
- Kitchen supplies are bare bones and low budget. There is no tea kettle and only one wine glass in the kitchen, but hey, there are two toasters!
- The railings on the elevated wood deck are loose and an accident/lawsuit waiting to happen. Does anyone inspect these things?
The whole vibe of the place was cheap motel rather than someone's beach home.
Hello Michele, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we are glad the convenient location of our home and beach access worked well for you, we are sorry that the home did not meet your expectations. We apologize for the oversights you found and we have forwarded your review to our home manager to work on improving the property for our next renters. Our onsite property caretaker checked the railings and found nothing wrong with them. The sliding glass door was also checked and is working properly. We have purchased wine glasses and a tea kettle. Our maintenance team will inspect the lights and will discuss with the owner a resolution for them. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope we have the chance to impress you in the future.
We love the location, the view and the comfort of this place. It’s unpretentious and perfect for us.
I was a little worried about this place after reading some of the reviews but decided I wanted location/views over furnishings. We were pleasantly surprised when we got there - the house has been painted with white walls and there are updated furnishings/bedding. It's not amazing decor but it's nice enough that it doesn't detract from the killer views or falling asleep to the sounds of the surf. Theres a path to get down to the beach and then you have tons of space to yourself. We were there during the 105+ days in Portland and it wasn't too crowded at Otter Rock. We enjoyed checking out the tide pools (both the Otter Crest Marine Garden & the one at Yaquina Head Lighthouse), kids rented boogie boards and wetsuits from Pure Vida surf shop, and had a great time! Would absolutely stay here again.
The location was perfect and the scenery was breathtaking. The grounds were beautiful, and the path to the beach was very well maintained. My dog Nova had the time of his life which made our trip absolutely perfect. And, Bob the eagle was a bonus!
Heather, we are so happy to hear you enjoyed the view! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We will be sure to pass your suggestions regarding the updates needed along to our local manager who will work with our homeowner to make necessary upgrades. We hope to have the opportunity to impress you in the future!
Quiet, secluded despite being just off the main highway (very convenient). Great beach access if a little steep. Really enjoyed our time and will return.
We loved that most everything that we could need was there. We especially loved that we were upstairs in Suite 2 and there was a large attached deck with wonderful views
I do not usually write reviews, but this hotel stay is in definite need for future guests. When we drove up my husband and I looked at each other and thought these 1950’s chalets were cute, then the truth.
1. Gate was so hard to open my husband had to put his weight into to just to get on the deck of Penthouse #2.
2. Sliding door, could only be opened with brute force to get into the room.
3. Note at door asked that no shoe be worn in the room but when you finally got into the place and looked down at the rug; oh hell no, shoes were to be worn at all times. There’s a major amount of yellow and brown stains in every room. I believe that with every guest and their fur baby that occupied at one time found it to be their very own bathroom. The filthiest place I have ever stayed at. Suggestion-purchase a carpet cleaner or rent a big red machine if you have no plans to replace the carpet anytime soon. Like the “replacing soon notes” there were added to all other reviews stating the carpets needs. This note was what told me that you cared and were doing soon. With the close down, due to Covid, I anticipated that this was updated. Next time I will not let my brain take me in that direction.
4. When we walked into the unit I was hoping for a clean smell like a disinfectant due to the Covid virus going through the world at this time, NONE. But I did receive a text that they were looking forward to our arrival and were taking extra time to clean. I was never so glad that I took the disinfectant spray and wipes and did it myself on everything we touched.
5. After finishing that task, it was late we thought we should eat something. We decided to just have a bowl of cereal, so I got into the cabinet to grab bowls and the greasy feel, UGH! Washed the bowls by hand ate and I did a full load of dished in the dishwasher. Note in cabinet if you don’t feel dishes are sanitized to your liking . . . Clean would have been good, thought I was supposed to be on vacation.
6. Walking to get into bed on the left side the rug was damp in corner. Is there a leak in the wall? Went to bed, was scared to climb in. I am so glad that I took extra linens of my own. I learned to do that because of the laundry soap scents used by most facilities (unscented recommend).
7. Shower in morning; walls had pink mildew in the grout. Really!! Ceiling black mold. The shower curtain was barely attached by three hooks out of twelve (can I say dollar store if you do not want to spend any real money). One good thing was the shower pressure was good but wasn’t in it long enough to enjoy.
We spent a lot of money to stay there so happy we did not take our eighteen month old grandchild, we will not think twice to tell our friend and we will never return. Knowing this unit is your cash cow . . . you would think that taking pride and cleaning it would be worth your while. Eventually you might not have guests.
Thank you for your review, Sonja. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment. We would have been happy to assist with any questions or concerns if we had been notified during your time with us. Our local team strives to provide every one of our guests with the best vacation possible. We are so sorry if our standards were not met during your time with us!
The view was phenomenal and the grounds were kept maintained well. The couch, chairs and rugs have been updated from what’s in pics and it’s really nice. Relaxing in the evening with the wood burning stove, bring wood if you want a fire.
This room was very spacious but cozy and the views where great.
This place has a fantastic view! It is short hike down the hill to the beach, but this end unit has picture frame windows of the surf and sunset! It has a deck with a great view too.
It was dated inside, and the carpets have seen better days, but was overall very functional. For an older beach cabin, this place worked great! Definitely a good value.
The beach was secluded and lots of fun to take our dog. Would recommend this to friends.
The view is great, and perfect location. Wifi didn't work. Hot water didn't work. Carpets had gross stains. Dishes and cutting boards were not cleaned (left us wondering what else was not cleaned between guests...)!
Thank you for staying with us! We are sorry to hear of the issues you encountered in the home. The owner is replacing the carpets soon so future guests will not encounter this. The wifi and internet are in working order and the owner has reviewed the hot water heater to ensure it is functional. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. We hope to host you for a more enjoyable stay in the future!
The unit is got a fantastic view of the ocean and the access to the beach is awesome! It is definitely in need of updating, carpets worn and stained, stove doesn't work, but great for a weekend getaway!
For my family this is a near perfect vacation location, with some cleaning and maintenance issues. The size and layout of the condo are great for a small family and the beach access is terrific. The property is quiet with great views from the deck which was really nice for meals and for the dogs to have extra space to hang out.
The pictures of the property appear to be old as the carpets are now pretty thrashed with stains and accumulated dirt. The walls have been painted and the TVs and furniture are different. That's no biggie, but the carpet was so dirty that it was a little uncomfortable for us to let our 1 year old have free reign of the place. The door knob on the hallway door was also broken off making us nervous our 1 year old would shut it an lock us out on the other side of her. Same for the gate latch on the deck at the top of the step which does not work and our kiddo figured that out pretty quickly necessitating blocking the gate with a chair. The was also pretty significant mildew around the tub and on the shower curtain liner. I know fighting mildew at beach properties is a constant battle, but a little bleach and a new cheapie shower curtain liner go a long way. We ended up not giving the kiddos baths since they are pretty sensitive to things like mildew. Also, the overall lack of cleanliness made it a little hard to trust that things like the dishes and silverware were being thoroughly cleaned. It feels like just a random timing thing, but the bedroom TV also went out the second night, first sound, then picture. I wish I could attach pictures to this review so you could decide for yourself if you feel comfortable with the cleanliness and maintenance issues, but I don't see that option.
Overall, if the place got a deep clean and a little maintenance we feel like this could easily become our go to beach spot.
Hi, Erik! We appreciate such a thorough review to help us make the best improvements. The carpets have been professionally cleaned, and we are looking to replace them very soon. We have checked that all door knobs are working properly and the TV is working normally. The mildew has been treated, and the shower curtain has been replaced. Thank you for staying with us!
Great quiet location, walk down the trail to a stunning beach.
The view is great, and the unit is spacious. But the unit needs critical attention to an unsafe deck (railing is very loose and would not hold a person) and the deck seems to sway without much weight. The interior is dated and the carpet has multiple dark stains. Hardwood floors would be a vast improvement. New fridge is nice but the ice maker/water dispenser was not working. Would be improved if couch was hide-a-bed for additional capacity.
Thank you for staying with us! We value your suggestions surrounding the condition of the home and welcome the opportunity to improve our homes for future guests. We appreciate you notifying us so we can make sure these are addressed. We hope for a chance to impress you in the future!
I think the amount they charge isn't quite worth the space itself, but the proximity to the beach balances it out. The dog fee gets a bit steep if there's more than one. It smells a bit like your grandparents' house who might have smoked inside for many years, but the necessities are all there. The deck was a bonus to watch the water and soak up sun when it came out. I've stayed in one of the other a-frames previously so kind of knew the deal. We'll come back... it has a funny charm to it.
We love Otter rock for the uncrowded beach, fabulous deck and view. Loved the king beds, next to the ocean and the windows and spacious suite.
I loved the penthouse Suite No. 2 overall it was pretty clean and organized. The only thing that could’ve made it better was that I had noisy neighbors below me but other than that it was terrific
I love that Alpine Chalets is by itself...no other hotels close, so it's quiet, and the beach is not crowded
Cozy place with nice views of the coast. I loved that it was just a short walk down to the water. Overall, it was spacious and felt very private. The decor was nice too and made the space feel comfortable but modern.
The Penthouse offers a great view and a cozy living room for relaxing. The Penthouse is great for pets and children. The Penthouse deck offers a great place to sit and enjoy the sun. The walk to the beach is well maintained but maye considered steep. The beach is beautiful and quite.
Stayed for a couple of nights, has all your basic neccessities. Clean, great view, nice trail that leads to the beach. Not far from town for resturants gas and stores.
The beach and access to beach is absolutely amazing. The grounds were kept very nice. The home had wonderful views, good amenities. Perfect getaway on the coast for couples, or a small family. New furniture in the living room, kitchen was stocked well with the basics for making breakfast. We bought seafood on the bay prepared and ate at the dining room table, with our own private view of the ocean. Plenty towels and blankets. Bed was less than excepted, but we managed. Location was great, close to town and nearby attractions.
The grounds are well kept. Very clean and maintained. The view was beautiful. We loved the large deck, fireplace and everything about our stay. Thank you!
Very comfortable unit with all you need to make your stay pleasant. The view was wonderful!
Nice space. Plenty of room. I love the large deck with an ocean view and the view of the ocean from inside the suite. My new favorite of the chalets.
We loved the deck and view from the penthouse unit #2. The place was clean but out dated and we couldn't figure out how to get the cable working. The property was well maintained, property manager was very friendly and helpful. The path to the beach was well maintained and the beach was amazing and very private. We will definantly be coming back, very quaint and private.
Hands down, the view from this suite and deck was amazing! The exterior grounds of the property were very well maintained and the onsite manager was very courteous and helpful in recommending local places to visit during our stay. The extra large deck had a gate that was perfect for us to enjoy with our family dog without worry of him running off. The picnic area and private path to the beach were also great. Very convenient right on the property and not as long or steep as the other reviews we read made it out to be. The interior of this unit was clean however we reported a couple of stains on the carpet and that the décor is tired and old and could definitely use some updating. The good part is we spent the good majority of our time outside so the interior didn't bother us as much. The location of this property was also very convenient being close to Depoe Bay and Newport for supplies and groceries.
Quiet stay with only two other units filled in mid April. This is the only unit with an ocean view and not what a view!!! Basic accommodations as others have noted. We did not need the extra blankets we brought due to previous reviews. Several extra blankets and the heat in each room was warm enough set fairly low. We called due to finding a spider with an egg sack.... vacasa rep was there within an hour to take care of it. Thanks!!!
Looking at staying again in the fall.
The good: Views to the west are really great as is the condition of the parking lot and recently rebuilt deck. The trees around the structure make you feel like you're in a forest. Electric heating system worked well and kept us cozy an comfortable for our October stay. Each bedroom has its own thermostat as does the bathroom and living areas. Beach is a 3 or 4 minute walk down a beautiful thought somewhat steep hill. Beach is long and big so your kids or dog can run around for hours. Wi-fi was pretty good for 4 of 5 days but quit working on the 5th day. Property manager 'Lance' was there and gave us instructions for our stay. Bathroom has been upgraded; the toilet looked new and there is new tile around the tub. Bathroom was one of the better parts of the house. Kitchen was the next best. It is fairly roomy with nice counter space on one side, although the cabinets are original unstained/exposed wood and soiled somewhat from many years of use. The stairs and deck are in excellent condition. There are 15 stair steps from the ground level up to the deck and front door so be prepared to do some lifting of your food and luggage.
The ok: Bed in west bedroom (which is a nice large bedroom) is very firm but ok. Bed in east bedroom is even firmer but ok if you don't mind a really firm bed. Blinds over the windows in the living room are mostly intact, although you don't really need them anyway. Kitchen sink does NOT have a garbage disposal. The door on the west bedroom won't close, perhaps due to settling of the foundation. This home was probably build in the 60's or 70's so much of it is dated to that era, but, still mostly functional.
The bad: The fold-out sofa bed in the living room. It's worn-out and unsuitable for both sitting on it as a sofa and sleeping on the fold-out bed. In fact, it's so worn-out that an adult may get a back injury if sleeping on it. We brought 2 thick blankets, as suggested in a another review, which made it ok for our 7 and 10 year old boys. This unit is not configured to sleep 7 adults as listed in the description, it will do 6 at best, with two of the adults possibly in pain the next morning.
The dirty: There was visible dog hair on the carpet in places and it smelled like 'dog' in one place in the living room. The floor-mat by the sliding door was chuck- full of sand when we got there.
The broken: The cover on the dishwasher fell off when we got there, a light in the frig was burned-out, the light over the stove-top was burned-out, the switch on the lamp in the living room was broken, the blinds in front of the sliding glass door are about 50% gone and broken away and the sliding mechanism of the blinds over the sliding glass door was broken. Didn't matter much though since there is no way anyone can see inside the unit from the outside (since it is 15 steps above ground level).
The weird: The entire building structure is canted slightly south, meaning when you walk north inside the house you feel like you are walking up-hill. I used a level app on my phone and measured about a 1 degree slope from north to south. The slope didn't bother us too much though, it was just a little unusual.
We appreciate receiving such a thorough review. The property manager will go over this review with the owner so they can determine their course of action.
Beautiful doesn’t do it justice. Great location plenty to see within a short drive.
This isn't a high end rental as far as furnishings go, but it was clean and comfortable. You can't beat the location. It was a short walk to a beautiful beach (downhill) and had a fabulous view from the spacious deck.
This is an older home with some minor needs but the view is absolutely worth the stay.
The walk to to the beach was lovely, the beach itself? Incredible! Only a short walk to Devil's punchbowl. A lovely area to walk, hike or cycle but we also saw whales at Rodea Point, take a left out of the driveway and you'll eventually find it.
If you are looking for a quiet place to get away, with easy access to the beach (little steep, but fairly easy) this is a great place. The views are phenomenal and the deck is definitely a bonus. The cleaning team could do a little better on detailing, but the beds and kitchen and bathroom were fair emough. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
The Alpine Chalets Penthouse has a fantastic view and location, 1/2 mile walk down the beach to Devil's punchbowl where you always see whales, West Mo's for chowder and the winery tasting room. The newly rebuilt huge deck is fantastic for eating outside and relaxing. Only 10 minute drive to Chowder Bowl (world's best chowder) and Sweet Shop (world's best fudge) in Nye Beach. The caretaker, Lance was super friendly and helpful. The only downside is that the penthouse interior needs major updating. Besides that it was awesome! My family loved it.
1. The property manager, Lance, was very friendly and helpful. He was working so hard every day while we there to keep the property looking clean and manicured for the guests. He'd recently rebuilt the deck on "Penthouse Suite #2", and it looked awesome!
2. You have to walk down a short path to get to an area where you can barbecue and have bonfires, and the beach is a little farther down the path. Not super easy access but the view from the house makes you not care that much.
3. We have a geriatric dog, so the stairs were difficult to navigate with him, so that's something to think about if you have an old guy on board.
4. The house was well stocked with good pans, plenty of glasses and plates, etc. Terrible knives though, so bring your own. The fridge has filtered water and an icemaker.
5. No access to a washing machine and dryer, so for a week long stay, that was a big negative.
We stayed here for the eclipse, and enjoyed the great views and easy access to Newport and Depoe Bay as well as the short walk to the beach. The grounds are great and well maintained, and the property manager Lance was very welcoming. Unfortunately the unit itself was awful. The carpets are filthy and smelled strongly. The furniture and beds are worn out and so uncomfortable that we left a day early so we could get some sleep. The garbage for the entire complex is underneath the units deck, so depending on the wind the entire unit smelled of rotted food.
The setting of Alpine Chalets is beautiful. The grounds are very well kept and the path down to the beach is very convenient. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We actually had four of the units as we were celebrating a 50th anniversary and the accommodations were perfect for our group. We would definitely recommend the Alpine Chalets for a perfect getaway on the Oregon Coast.
We loved this house. The deck is beautiful and the living room has an incredible view. It was very conveniently located and the path to the beach was great. Most of the rooms were very hot though so it was hard to sleep unless you were in the west bedroom.
Spent a couple of nights here with the kids for the Summer. The views from the penthouse suite were perfect. It was a short walk down to the beach and the kids had a blast on the beach. The staff were very courteous and a shout out to Lance, the property manager onsite. Great guy! He was extremely friendly and briefed us no sooner we got there with tips about the area, the roads, the property and restrictions. Overall very enjoyable!
The location was amazing! You feel like you have your own private beach and are so close to the cool towns of Newport and Depoe Bay. The onsite manager Lance is very nice, accommodating and has lots of knowledge of the area. I would recommend this location to my best friends.
Thanks for an amazing stay!
Great views, decent location, comfortable.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay again in the upper penthouse! It was clean, and the perfect size for our stay. The icemaker doesn’t work but there are a couple ice trays for your use. The bed on the West side of the house is awesome. Comfortable and soft sheets! The mattress on the opposite side could use replacing honestly. The pullout mattress is pretty bad, the springs are on the surface and poke into your back all night. A cheap foam sleeping pad would be all it needs to make it comfortable. Being that it’s the beach and typically cold out there, the 2 lightweight blankets provided didn’t quite cut it, I’d recommend bringing your own if you get chilly. Bring camp chairs, the pics show chairs on the deck but we found none anywhere in the house. This house absolutely does NOT sleep 7. It sleeps 6 so be aware of that if you have 7 people. No cot available for a 7th person. There is very limited parking, they say you have 2 spots but its actually one spot and you park 2 cars in it. There is additional parking down the road 500 feet but only enough for a couple cars. Make sure you are carpooling if you plan to stay here
Have stayed here numerous times over the years. This is not staying at the Ritz-Carlton, but it is not meant to be. This is staying in a cottage at one of the most beautiful places on the coast. It is convenient, clean and nostalgic. It is wonderful!
We spent new years weekend 2017 and had a really great time. very private and confortable.
our fifth year, look forward to #6
We love the location of Alpine Chalets. It is close to Newport, Depoe Bay and Lincoln City. The beach is an easy walk and the view is spectacular. Management was working on other units to update. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and will definitely be back.
The view from this place is amazing! If it wasn't for the view I would have never stayed the night here. I would have left. It needs cleaned and fixed up.
A deep clean is scheduled for this home. We are sorry to see that the cleanliness made the home unbearable for this guest - we will follow-up with housekeeping.
My wife and I are high school teachers and have been coming to this part of the coast at the end of Summer vacation for 20 years. Our previous place closed a few years back and we have been scrambling to find a place that offers everything we want. I am pleased to report, we have found it. If you are looking for a luxury stay, this is not the place for you. We have two Labradors so being pet friendly is huge to us. Easy access to the beach is a big plus. Just a great place to spend a week relaxing and recharging with my wife and dogs before the new school year. Very pleased and we will be back for yeas to come.
We very much enjoyed the 2 nights we spent in the Penthouse #2. It's simple and homey and conveniently located just up the hill from the beach. The Devil's Punchbowl and surrounding beach are amazing places to explore and Mo's Seafood right next to eat has delicious chowder and marionberry cobbler!
What a diamond in the rough. Our family of 5 was so comfortable here and the beach access and view were AMAZING! Close enough to town for quick trips for supplies but not so close we felt like we were in the thick of it. Beds were clean and comfy (hide a bed was, well a hide a bed) and over all lived in condition was about what I expected for the value. Not for the OCD clean freak tho. Plenty of dishes, fridge was clean and bathroom had plenty of towels. We made wonderful memories during our stay here and would definitely come back!
The location is absolutely amazing and beautiful. The privacy of the beach, campfire area and views were stunning with very little road noise and easy access to local amenities. The reviews were all very accurate. I saw comments on the ants in old reviews that issue should be resolved. There was also an old musty scent but candles helped with that. I would stay here again just for the view and privacy. If you don't mind older it is a great stay. The property manager was actively working on improving the property during our stay, it was good to see. There are both positives and negatives to this location.
The view was unsurpassed. The fireplace a nice touch. Roomy and comfy. The deck great for enjoying a sunset and our little dogs liked it as well.
The location was good, but house smelled and had ants in kitchen.
We really appreciate you letting us know that you saw some ants during your stay. We have let our property manager know about them and that you noticed an odor so they can take care of both problems for our future guests. Thank you again for choosing Vacasa.
This was our third stay at the Alpine Chalets and second in the penthouse. For both penthouse visits, once we arrived we didn't start the cars again until it was time to leave. This visit the weather was atrocious the first day, so we watched the rain on the windows, got soaked on the beach, and ate too much. The second and third day were SPF 50 weather and we spent them on the beach. The penthouse suite is a delightful place to enjoy the beach, the views, and family. Highly recommended!
Thank you for sharing your review! We are so happy you had a great time and cant wait to have you back.
We were part of a very large family reunion...most of the family camped at the campgrounds. We were only a couple miles from the activities so our elderly parents could easily join in the fun, yet have a nice quiet retreat.
We absolutely loved the place! It's a bit rustic, but the views are unbeatable. We loved the private park and the private beach access. We also loved the fact that it was a haven from the tourist traps and chaos. We will definitely be staying here again! Such a wonderful experience. Also, it is incredibly dog friendly!
Quiet private condo well appointed and easy walk to the beach.
The view from the balcony/deck was simply amazing - we didn't want to do anything other than look at the ocean!
All the staff were so helpful as well, which made our stay there even more memorable.
The view is fantastic! Quaint place! Walk to beach is pebbled and not to steep going down! Coming back up that 100 ft is a bit hard. Love seeing the wild bunnies near the picnic Bon fire swing area!
The property has an incredible view of the ocean. We watched the sunrises and took many pictures. The path to the ocean was well maintained and had a good foot bed with gravel. The park on the property was a delight with swings, lots of greenery, picnic tables, grill, fire pit, etc.
The view is the best part of staying in the Penthouse. Every morning you wake up to a view that is hard to find in other locations. If the unit were clean and better cared for than it would make for a perfect place to stay. Be prepared if you plan to stay here. The conditions aren't for those who like clean and comfortable.
We apologize that the unit was not as clean as it should have been. We have high cleanliness standards and will work on achieving those in this home. We hope you enjoyed the fun location!
This was our second stay in two weeks so, needless to say, we found the place delightful. Quiet, secluded, gorgeous view. You couldn't ask for more! The Bald Eagles were amazing! We will be back again!
Thank you for your review! We are glad you love this Suite so much you keep coming back! We look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you for choosing Vacasa!
There were four of us staying in the Penthouse and it was cozy but spacious at the same time. The view was absolutely wonderful. We had three bald eagles visiting the snag behind our room every day. It was delightful. Very quiet, private path to the beach...you couldn't ask for more! And...it was very reasonable!
As soon as I walked into the Penthouse #2 I stopped to take a picture from the just inside the door. The view was more breathtaking than any of the pictures do it justice! Once my friend got there we took the path to the beach. This might be the only thing people should be concerned about. To get the great views, the path is a bit steep. Going down can be tough for some, and coming back up can be really tough. But I was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and not taking any medication for it yet so it was tough, but worth every bit of pain! The beach is not crowded, in fact there were only a handful of other people around. And the proximity to Depoe Bay (love to go to all the shops and eat at the Sea Hag!), and to Newport (if you need groceries) makes this a great location on the Oregon Coast. I can't recommend it enough!!
Thank you for this great review and recommendation! We are so happy that you had a great trip, and can't wait for you to visit Vacasa again.
We have enjoyed this property a number of times in the recent years. We are locals, but as a holiday treat, we have come here to have family time. Close by, yet still a getaway. The location is perfect! Remote and beautiful, but only a few minutes drive to shopping, and other amenities. The beach is spectacular!
It was great how close to the beach we were! Beautiful grounds, view. We had a great time!
I brought my family here and the view from the room was spectacular. There is a porch and table where you can eat and enjoy the ocean view. There is a private walkway to the beach, and you can have a little stretch of the ocean all to yourself. We enjoyed our stay, and would come back again.
Fourth time at this spot. Will come back again.
Thanks so much for visiting us again!
Our stay at the Alpine Chalets in Ottee Rock was fantastic! Our only regret was that it was not longer. Great unit, gorgeous view, clean and very comfortable. Totally relaxing. Highly recommended!
Thanks for sharing your 5 star review with us! We love the Alpine Chalets and are so pleased to see that you had a great time. Please come again!
The weather did not cooperate but it did not matter. The views are breathe taking and the beach is amazing. We wanted a place to just go and relax. In my opinion there is no better place. We will definitely be back again. If you book early enough this would a great place for a family reunion.
Our large clan has been gathering here for years!
We enjoyed our week on the Oregon Coast staying at the Alpine Chalets in Unit #2, the penthouse. As mentioned in another review, there were Bald Eagles nesting in the big dead pines just behind the house. We saw two eaglets on the last day in the nest before they flew off. We saw a news report that mentioned that they leave in late July, and the Mature Adults return in November.
We saw resident California Grey Whales nearly every day just outside the rocks, making thier way up and down the coast.
We spent time at Nye Beach shops and restaurants.
We had a fire nearly every night in the fire pit on the trail to the beach.
The units here are ageing, but are a great value based on the price you pay.
Wow! Its sounds like you had a great time staying in the Alpine Chalets. You really cant beat the location of these units. Thank you for this review and we look forward to seeing you again.
We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back. The onsite manager is super helpful and hospitable. We WILL be back!
We loved our stay. Everything was perfect. The views were great there were even nesting bald eagles in the trees above the house. Amazing
