Affordable, Dog-Friendly Lodge Studio near Outdoor Activities w/Shared Grill

If it's time for a solo retreat or a getaway with your favorite person, come to South Fork and stay in this budget-friendly rental with close proximity to year-round outdoor activities, dining, and shopping. You can also bring along the family dog for a small nightly pet fee!

This cozy, studio-style room is located in a building with other lodge cabins and provides the basics for a memorable vacation focused on outdoor activities any time of year. Summer guests will have hiking, biking, horseback riding, and golfing as options, and the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve has sandboarding and sand sledding, fishing, and swimming at Medano Creek. In the winter, go snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or ice climbing, or take a horse-drawn sleigh ride. Walk to restaurants and the liquor store, or make the roughly 17-mile drive to Wolf Creek Ski Area for boarding and downhill.

This rental has a mini fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker for your early morning caffeine fix and snacks to tide you over between meals out. There's a full bathroom with a tub/shower, and the large bed offers a peaceful night's sleep. Other amenities include a flatscreen TV and free WiFi so you can stay in touch with friends and family.

Keep it simple and book this budget-friendly rental today for your upcoming South Fork retreat! A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

Parking Notes: Please park to the left of the door and don't block the main drive. There is additional parking around the area (between Lodge buildings 1-5 and the stone line near the gazebo with the hot tub, in front of the shop, alongside the office, along the backside of Elk Cabin toward the dumpster, behind the shed north of Moose Lodge, and east of Fox Cabin). There’s also a large, vacant restaurant parking lot; use it only south of the office and Lodge buildings 1-5.

WINTER HAZARDS: Snow and ice can accumulate throughout the property. Along the north side of Lodge buildings 1-5 is one of these areas. Ice and snow build up all winter long until late March or early April. The roofs of the Lodge buildings are metal; snow and ice tend to give way in large sheets all at once, so please be aware of the edge of the roof and where your vehicle is parked.

Convenient, clean, well decorated, and included a box fan. Enjoyed the stay

Because if they find out how good it is, they will never have any openings and I won't be able to come back.
Lynn M. Aug 2020
Small but sufficient for the cost. Clean and simple.
Patricia W. Aug 2020
Great room, comfy bed and mountain views!
Adam W. Feb 2020
Decent price, adequate accommodations, good location.

First of all this place is adorable! Our room was so cozy, was spotlessly clean and had nice room amenities. The staff was easy to get a hold of and very friendly. It was close to Wolf Creek where we were skiing and we looked forward to getting back every evening. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay!

Quiet and well priced. Walk to anything you need.
Mary V. Dec 2019
Great location and has all the basics you need. Had to call customer service because the lockbox code was incorrect and they were very speedy and friendly in resolving the issue. Only negative is that the walls are VERY thin. But overall a great place to stay and not too expensive for an easy drive to Wolf Creek

We will come back.
Robert W. Sep 2019
Clear and quiet, with all the essentials, I.i., coffee maker, microwave, internet, TV and small refrigerator.
William R. Sep 2019
I booked for two nights. Left after one because I couldn’t stand the place. Everything about it was a joke, lousy bed, sheets, useless internet, furnishings.
Manager response:
We are so sorry you did not enjoy the home. We do appreciate you letting us know about the bed, sheets, and internet so we can address this with our local staff and fix this for our future guests.
Mark W. Aug 2019
Place was nice and clean but had no real table. Good location in the center of town.
Jeremy R. Aug 2019
Only issue I had was the lock box code was wrong. Called the customer service line and was provided the correct code and was inside in about 5 minutes. Room was very clean and bed comfortable. Had a king bed and room was very small which I did not mind at all. Was in South Fork to do some hiking for the weekend and this place was perfect. Also had a screen door that locked so you could leave the door open to feel the fresh air. Will certainly stay again

Small but comfortable unit. Nice base for exploring around the area.
Michael S. Jul 2019
Nice and quiet. Good food near by and great mountain scenery
Jacob G. Jul 2019
It was clean cozy and had everything I needed for a place to sleep. If your like me and wont be spending much time in a room this is the place to save a little $$ to use elsewhere well still being comfortable.

This is my second time staying at the Vacasa lodges in South Fork. We love that they're dog friendly and affordable. The units are kept clean and up to date. Wonderful spot to end a long drive. We'll be back again. Be sure to visit Rachel's Keep on Keeping on Food Truck.

The stay was amazing and such a beautiful area
Chris G. Apr 2019
Love the location to fishing locations on the Rio Grande. The cabins are small and minimalistic, which makes for a perfect base camp after long days of hiking, fishing and whatever else tickles your fancy near by.
Eric H. Mar 2019
I love this lodge! Have stayed three times in different rooms and enjoyed each of them. Walls are thick so noise is low, and should anything go wrong on-site staff are great.
Lauren C. Mar 2019
Trouble getting in. Hot tub out of order.
Manager response:
Thank you for providing your feedback, Lauren. We apologize for the issues you experienced during your stay. We appreciate you reaching out to us to provide a working email address, so that we could send your check-in details to you successfully. In addition, we are happy to report that the hot tub is working properly. We hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!

Loved the hot tub

Great little cabin resort near ski resort! Great price and friendly staff.
Kimberly A. Mar 2018
Great room for one person, very small community for getting away from the city!
Alan S. Jan 2018
Have stayed in nice condos etc. but Foothills Lodge is clean, has all you need, and staff is fully helpful.
South Fork does not have as many eateries as Pagosa but for Skiing I prefer the economy and quiet of South Fork.
Have stayed here before it was Vacasa and will stay again.
