The White House was one of my favorite rentals ever! It’s better than the pictures show. Very comfortable beds, quality linens, plenty of towels, extra blankets, and pillows. Spotlessly clean. Cozy living room, with so many interesting historical pictures and artifacts. The decor is over the top Victorian, in the best way. The kitchen has everything you would need, and two sinks. Full dining table & breakfast nook too. Huge tub with hand shower but no standup shower. Backyard with lots of seating to catch the sun or shade. Perfect location just steps from the best coffee shop. We came in winter during a cold spell, and the owner had electric fireplaces going in all the rooms to warm it up. A very kind & friendly touch. We would return!!

The history inside the house was so interesting. The bed was comfy. Kitchen perfect and the yard was darling.
Loved waking up with a great cup of coffee in the house.

Wow! What a great location! Easy walk to the historical town with shops and restaurants. The house is located on a quiet street just off the main road. The home was cozy with lots of historical pictures and history regarding the surrounding area. The backyard is private with lots of sitting and and grill for cooking.
The kitchen is well equipped for cooking but needs new cooking pots and pans. The stove is old and takes a longtime to heat up, the back right burner no longer works. The dishwasher is old but they were there on our last day ready to install a new one. The place was not as clean as it should be. The cupboards had coffee spilled down them, cobwebs in the corner of the master bedroom ceiling and dust on a lot of the items. The bathroom has no shower but we knew this from the description of the home. With the water shortage that CA has been experiencing a shower should be installed. We were also left with only 1/2 roll of toilet paper and no extra rolls. We ran out in the evening after the grocery store closed. Also the garbage cans outside and the recycling were completely full. Thursday evening is when trash goes out but was missed so when we arrived on Friday there was no room for our trash. The mattress on the master bed is in desperate need of replacement, if you have any back issues you would not be able to sleep on this mattress.
In conclusion the house has great history, great location and is located on a quiet street. The house could benefit from a deep cleaning and some updating. Overall it was a good experience and will be coming back to this area again.
Hi, Lauren! The stove and pans are scheduled for inspection by the homeowner, and a mattress replacement is underway. The property manager is working with housekeeping to ensure the home is pristine. Thank you!

A great place to spend a few days. Lots of historic touches...most cool, some a bit creepy. It is unique and fun, while being comfortable.

Very well-maintained and decorated home close to shops, and restaurants. The home was clean and kitchen was well stocked. There were notes with instructions that were easy to find/useful. We were there during some hot days, so it was a bit hot in the house as none of the windows open (due to their age). Thankfully there is a screen-door we used to ventilate. Despite this, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend for a small family or couples/friends.

This cottage was a wonderful, interesting, inspiring, and fun place to stay. The kids and us had such a fun time looking at all the interesting things in the cottage and took pictures of the kids posing with everthing. The back yard is like a magical secret garden and the location was perfect! Coffee, diner, everything just a few yards away at the end of the block. Best location for convenience and ease of access of any vacation rental we've ever stayed at. We were able to leave our teenager to babysit for an hour in the evening for us adults to have some grown up time at the end of the block at The Palace and feel totally comfortable and safe. Honestly, this was the best weekender vacation we've ever had. We are so happy. Also, we all had great nights sleep because unlike any other vacation rental we've ever slept at, this place had really comfortable beds. Its was all around fantastic, we love Ferndale, and we will be booking this cottage every time we come back from now on.

We absolutely loved our stay at the White House! A half block from Main Street put us in a perfect location. Ferndale is a walkable town with gorgeous views. The house is right next to the fire station, so be prepared for an occasional siren. The house is well-appointed, cozy, and filled with a treasure trove of historic items reflecting the surrounding town. Be sure to relax in the claw foot bathtub! There was a slight trace of smoke smell that cling to my clothes after hanging in the closet, but it wasn’t noticeable walking around the house. The yard is well enclosed for a little dog, and the neighbors and their dogs were friendly. We would stay there again, and have already recommended it to family. Wonderful spot!

This was our second stay at the White Victorian, and everything was as we remembered. We really enjoy the location and how you are steps away from "downtown" Ferndale. The availability of the washer and dryer really help you travel light. Still wish the shower\ tub had a ring around it.
We were in town for a wedding but had time to spare. This hous's location was great for walking in central Ferndale. There was a market close by that had everything we needed. The house was in very good condition, a lot of love had been clearly put into the restoration. It felt like walking into a museum. The only constructive criticism I might give is that the kitchen appliances were pretty cheap. The fridge & dishwasher were noisy & the cook top was weak. I'll admit that we're a family of cooks and spare no expense on these things in our home so we're pretty spoiled. It recommend an upgrade when it comes time to replace them....which will probably be soon. Aside from a couple nice cast iron pots, the cookware was likewise cheap. There was a note in the instructions when we arrived that a minimal of toilet paper was provided. They weren't kidding. If we hadn't had the other couple back out on us at the last minute we would have had to go out & but TP. Has there been a problem of people using too much or stealing it? I haven't gone back to look & see if that warning was in the pre arrival instructions but we would have brought a roll or 2 from home if we'd known. Surely a roll per day isn't unreasonable.
While we have stayed in the Ferndale area before, this was our first rental at the White house. It's nice to walk to all the stores downtown. The Ferndale meat market is around the corner and we used the available BBQ for a great meal. The house has almost anything you need available for your stay.
Home full of history. Loved all the historical pictures and information at the house. Great little place for 2 couples. Nice back yard patio. Perfect location to walk around Ferndale
For 2 years now my family has rented the White House in Ferndale over Memorial Day weekend and it has proven to be the favorite vacation spot. My fam regularly vacations in Tahoe and Monterey as well but Ferndale has proven to be the funnest for my teenagers. We came here to be able to see the finish line for the Kinetic Sculptor Race when they cross on Monday but each time my family has found so much joy just exploring the area as well. From sea to forest and everything in between - especially the cheese and beer - so much cheese and beer in this area! But back to Redwood Coast Vacation Rentals: they make it so easy, I have been able to do everything online or on the app; the house is always appointed with everything we need and they are a phone call away if needed. We will be staying with them again. Next year we will be looking at Trinidad (another jewel on the North Coast that is a must-visit) or Eureka to see the water entry of the race. Thanks for everything! We travel a lot an Redwood Coast Vacation Rental is definitely a 5-star outfit and this house is just a joy. It's like a mini-museum but at the same time it's very comfortable and quite quiet for it being in the center of town. A walk to the cemetery is a must!
We really enjoyed this charmingly decorated house a half block from the Main Street. Everything we needed. Very clean, interesting details, No shower, just handheld sprayer in tub. Well laid out for a long stay with full kitchen and two bedrooms, full dining room. We would return.
Being old home lovers, this home was like hitting the jackpot! Everything was perfect, from location to details!
Sweet little house full of photos of original owners and the town's history. Do bring your own shampoo and coffee (though there is a cafe just a few blocks away).
We stayed at the white house for two nights on a long weekend trip to the Humboldt Redwoods. It was a perfect location and the surprising bonus is that Ferndale is one of the cutest towns we've ever visited. It seems to be stuck in time (in a good way) and the house reflected that. It was cozy and comfortable. The owners put a lot of effort into maintaining the history of the home while renovating, and you can see their journey in the framed photos and items throughout the house. Would return and would recommend!
The location of the White House could not be more convenient. We loved that part, and being in Ferndale was wonderful as well. We did have two complaints: First the odor of smoke was overpowering upon entry to the house and second, we found both beds to be too soft for quality and pain-free sleep. Everything else was as close to perfect as it could be.
