About Ranger
Attractions

Up in the beautiful wilds of North Georgia is a postage stamp of a town that covers an area of less than one square mile. But what the tiny, rural hamlet of Ranger lacks in size, it decidedly makes up for in proximity to lakes, trails, forests, mountains, and the undeniable charms of our Ranger vacation rentals.

Where is Ranger, GA?

Conveniently equidistant from Atlanta, 66 miles southeast, and Chattanooga, 66 miles northwest, Ranger is located in Gordon County in Georgia's tranquil northern reaches. This pastoral town, which has only 133 year-round residents, sits 11 miles south of Carters Lake and 26 miles southwest of Ellijay's renowned apple orchards.

Things to Do in Ranger, GA

With Chattahoochee National Forest to the east and the Johns Mountain Wildlife Management Area to the west, our Ranger vacation homes are in prime territory for hiking, hunting, boating, and taking gorgeous country drives.

Spend the summer on the banks of Carters Lake, where you'll find 62 miles of pristine shoreline, a marina with covered slips, and boat rentals that range from fishing vessels to 16-person tritoons. Head east toward Chattahoochee National Forest to hike the southernmost stretch of the Appalachian Trail on Springer Mountain, 57 miles east, or gaze in wonder at the watery cascades in Amicalola Falls State Park, 40 miles east.

Should you time your visit for autumn, you can admire the surrounding foliage while attending the Georgia Apple Festival, an annual tradition in nearby Ellijay since 1971.
