Suwanee is an artful infusion of history, fun, and entertainment. This quiet town has been voted several times as one of the best places to live and one of the best towns for families and you'll quickly understand why! Due its popularity, this city has experienced substantial growth in the past century, but has retained its small-town charm. As pretty as a peach and as sweet as a vidalia onion, this city will soon be your favorite vacation spot and our vacation rentals will make your stay even sweeter!
Located in Gwinnett County, Suwanee sits in northern Georgia and borders Fulton and Forsyth counties. Near both Atlanta and Athens, the city evolved as a result of agriculture and railroad industries. It is named after a Shawnee Indian tribe that settled in the area in the late eighteenth century and this type of history is still apparent in the city's vibrant culture today.
Festivals are never in short demand in this part of Georgia! No matter what time of year you visit, you're sure to catch a day- or weekend-long event that promises cheer, laughter, and a downright good time. The Suwanee Wine Festival and the Suwanee American Craft Beer Fest are annual events that bring crowds from all around. Each of these festivals features local wine and beer experts and live entertainment - perfect for a vacation getaway!
When you aren't sipping on some wine at one of the city's festivals, relax outside in the town's vast park system. A 300-acre space that includes a fishing pond, football field, soccer field, softball field, basketball courts, playground, picnic area, senior center, and trails, George Pierce Park is ideal for the entire family. If you're looking for something a bit different, though, Suwanee's got you covered! The city has a park with an interactive fountain called the Big Splash, one with a seven-acre lake, one with an 18-hole disc golf course, and another with almost five miles of wetlands and wildlife habitat. In fact, the Gwinnett County park system is so multi-faceted that it has been voted as the top park agency in the nation by the National Recreation and Park Association and the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration.
Atlanta, a mecca for all things food, entertainment, and culture, is fewer than 33 miles from Suwanee. If you're craving some nightlife or just a little more pizzazz in your vacation, a short drive here will transport you to another vacation dimension.
Only 46 miles away, Austell has a lot in common with Suwanee. Even though they share some similarities, you'll find that exploring even more of beautiful Georgia is always a good thing! If you're looking for some excitement, take a day trip to catch a few rides over at Six Flags Over Georgia.
The small town of Morrow, only 48 miles from Suwanee, is full of history and small-town charm. If you're a history buff, you'll want to travel here to check out the Georgia Archives. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, the Clayton County International Park is all yours!
