With wineries, a peaceful way of life, and an abundance of natural beauty, the Finger Lakes have captivated travelers for decades. Experience this special place for yourself with one of our Rock Stream vacation rentals.
The hamlet of Rock Stream is nestled on the southwestern shores of Seneca Lake, in the heart of the area. It’s the largest of the Finger Lakes and the deepest in the state of New York, with a maximum depth of 618 feet. Our Rock Stream vacation homes are just 30 miles from the charming city of Ithaca and are surrounded by multiple state forests.
Guests love Rock Stream for its off-the-beaten-path feel and peaceful way of life. If you’re seeking an escape to wineries and the outdoors, our Rock Stream vacation rentals have you covered. In fact, Seneca Lake boasts dozens of wineries that surround its shores. You’ll find plenty of opportunities for tours, tastings, and special events.
As for spending time in the outdoors, you certainly won’t be short of activity. From private boat rentals to boat tours, Seneca Lake has plenty to keep you busy regardless of time of year. Swimming, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding are popular as well—after all, there’s plenty of room to roam on the largest of the Finger Lakes.
If you’re looking to experience the outdoors via the mainland, the nearby Watkins Glen State Park is a must. Most notably, it’s known for its narrow and 400-foot deep gorge cut by Glen Creek. Choose between three trails to explore the beauty of the gorge, where you can traverse over stone bridges, past 19 waterfalls—and even walk behind some of them—and over 800 stone steps.
You can also spend a day exploring Sugar Hill State Forest. This area is less crowded than Watkins Glen, and is a popular spot for camping and horseback riding. If you don’t mind heights, you can even climb the 75 feet of an old-school fire tower, where your bravery will be rewarded with vistas that span 15 miles.
When you’ve had your fill of outdoor exploration—or wine—you can return to your Rock Stream vacation rental for a night of relaxation. Sit by the fire with a good book, admire the stars, or uncork another bottle of wine from your vineyard tour.
