Recent Cape Meares vacation rental reviews

We were in town for a wedding. This house was perfect for our group, very clean, and had everything we needed. The hot tub was such a nice amenity. This is the 2nd time I have stayed here and we will be back! Perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of Tillamook but still not too far away to spend time with Family.

I would highly recommend staying at the Sandpiper. This house has so much to offer. It’s both a beach and a lake house with enough books & games to entertain for a long weekend. The house sits next to a wetland and is the only house on the street so it feels very private. The views are spectacular and there are lots of places to socialize as well as to relax alone. We stayed with another small family and we all had enough space. If you want to explore further, Tillamook and other small towns within a 15 - 20 minute drive. The house itself has everything you need for a beach stay including a generously-sized mud room, so that you don’t bring all your sandy and wet gear into the house. The hot tub is well-kept and comfortable and the owners have installed a heated outdoor shower to rinse before soaking (also perfect for a post-beach cleanup). A couple of things to know ahead of time. If you want to use the wood stove, bring your own wood. There are places to pick it up in town. Also, if you’re staying longer than 2 nights, I would also recommend bringing additional dish soap. We were provided with one small bottle but we ran out of soap on our 2nd night. The owners have done a wonderful job providing a relaxing, family-friendly beach house.

This house exceeded our expectations. We did a friend's weekend and the common area was great for gathering. The beach access is close and hot tub is private and clean. We loved our getaway!

Things to do in Cape Meares

Without a doubt, the number one attraction near town is the Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint. The small but impressive park is home to both the shortest lighthouse and the largest Sitka Spruce in Oregon, as well as some of the Coast's best views over the crashing Pacific Ocean. The viewpoints in the park are known as a prime whale-watching spot during migration season, and a favorite nesting grounds for seabirds, including the common murre, bald eagle, and peregrine falcon.

On clear days, visitors might catch a glimpse of the tufted puffins and Steller sea lions who enjoy protected breeding grounds at the Three Arch Rocks Natural Wildlife Refuge to the southwest of Cape Meares. Many vacationers along the Oregon Coast pass through Cape Meares as they journey along the Three Capes Scenic Route, a 40-mile loop drive that meanders along the shoreline from Pacific City to Tillamook. Even on rainy days, when you might be tempted to hunker down in your cozy Cape Meares beach cottage, the well-marked path at Three Capes is worth an afternoon's exploration, showing off some of Oregon's most panoramic viewpoints in state parks at Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda.

Along the sandy beach of Cape Meares and in the surrounding parks, visitors can enjoy some of the best hiking, kayaking, kite-flying, crabbing, fishing, and birdwatching in the state. While Cape Meares itself is very quiet, the community is only five minutes from Oceanside, with fresh seafood and homemade desserts at Roseanna's Cafe or Brewin' in the Wind.

Day trips from Cape Meares

Within twenty minutes, Tillamook offers all the dining and shopping options of a larger town, plus the ultimate rainy-day activity: touring and tasting at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Cape Meares makes a convenient home base for exploring the Oregon Coast, with a number of popular tourist destinations within an hour and a half's drive: Cannon Beach and Seaside to the north, Pacific City and Lincoln City to the south. Portland is under two hours away, and Seattle can be reached within four and a half hours.

Close to the conveniences of "civilization" but offering a true sense of getting away from it all, a stay at one of our Cape Meares vacation rentals is unmatched for its combination of natural beauty and peacefulness on the Northern Oregon Coast.
