McKenzie Bridge is situated exactly halfway between the metropolis of Eugene and the charming, western-themed town of Sisters. Sitting beside the beautiful crystal waters of the McKenzie River, you might not want to leave, but if you do feel like adventuring, treasures abound in every direction!
The McKenzie River, a 90-mile tributary of the Willamette, is a wonderful place to boat, or to just quietly sit and catch fresh fish for supper. Experienced anglers will look forward to a nice rainbow trout or even a Chinook Salmon after a relaxing afternoon on the water. If it's hot, you can always freshen up in the cool waters!
Outdoor enthusiasts will be thrilled by miles upon miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. Trails out to Proxy Falls take you past lava fields, waterfalls, and old growth forests. Or, pay a visit to the Dee Wright Observatory to get a stunning look at the majestic Cascades from atop an old lava flow. If you're looking for something a bit more formalized, book a tee time at Tokatee Golf Club, which is consistently ranked one of the best courses in all of Oregon.
Once you've tired yourself out with a long hike and a full day of sun, it's time for a visit to Belknap Hot Spring, six miles away. After a good soak in the mineral waters, you'll forget you were ever sore! For a more rustic experience, pay a visit to Terwilliger Hot Springs at the Cougar Reservoir, which requires a $6 per-person fee and just a short hike to the rejuvenating pools amidst lush greenery.
It's well worth it to take a trip to Eugene, a colorful college town only 53 miles away. It's hard to say how many delicious restaurants Eugene has, but if you visit the popular Ta Ra Rin, you'll see what we mean. Besides the fantastic food, Eugene has entertainment options for everyone. If it's date night, head to David Minor Theater for a movie and some excellent local beer, or catch a show at the outdoor Cuthbert Amphitheater.
