Make Netarts your next getaway—choose from 8 great vacation rentals

The tiny town of Netarts, nestled along the shoreline of the Northern Oregon Coast, is practically synonymous with shellfish. The estuary of Netarts Bay seems like it's been ecologically engineered to produce some of Oregon's best oysters, clams, and crabs. The gray waters are often dotted with charter boats, crab pots dangling overboard in hopes of catching the highly-regarded Dungeness crab. On the shoreline, locals with rakes, buckets, and sometimes just their bare hands dig in the murky sand for cockles, Pacific littlenecks, and Eastern soft-shells... and yes, those are all varieties of clams.

Recent Netarts vacation rental reviews

There were a lot of amazing aspects of this home. The view from the dining room is amazing, particularly during high tide. It is quick walk to the beach. The home comes with 2 kayaks and 2 bikes. There is an amazing coffee shop within walkable distance (Seaworthy Coffee and Gifts). Nevor is a short drive and is an amazing seafood market with a lunch counter. There are a few negatives or considerations--the house sleeps six but the home is very small. The house would be perfect for a family with 2 or fewer children. There was only one room with a nice mattress. The kitchen is very small with minimal counter space for meal prep and does not have a dishwasher.

Overall our stay was great! The views were spectacular! It’s clear that they’re making updates to the house. The floors look brand new as well as the counter tops. The beds and pillows were very comfy and the house is every spacious. However. upon entry, we noticed a very off-putting smell. We opened the doors to air it out but it never really went away. We had to use Fabreeze frequently. The decor was also a little off-putting. Specifically the troll and clown figurines as well as the nun hanging from the kitchen window. Maybe just not for my personal taste, I suppose. Ultimately, this stay was fantastic and we would definitely come back!

We loved (almost) everything about this rental. Pros - The location was peaceful, quiet and within steps of the Bay. The house was very spacious and so charming. There were some nice "extras" included in the home like a duraflame log left in the fireplace, new sponges in the kitchen, plenty of spices, oils and cooking utensils in the kitchen. This would be such an ideal place for a large family to gather. Cons - The house cleaners need to be audited. This house had most definitely not been thoroughly cleaned. It wasn't "dirty" but it was not as clean as we would have preferred. You could tell the carpet and couch had not been vacuumed as there was dog hair all over both. The floorboards and window sills hadn't been cleaned in a VERY long time. Just overall it felt a bit like you needed to give everything a good wipe down before you could really get comfortable. Also, the front bedroom with the BEAUTIFUL view of the bay was unusable for 2 reasons. The bed squeaked so bad there was no chance of getting a decent night sleep and the blinds were broken and had been tied in an "up" position and knotted. I didn't look back at reviews to see how long these two issues have been unresolved but they are pretty major so I truly hope the owner prods the management company! Also, this room really does need blackout curtains so that you can sleep in it - that's more of an opinion than fact of course. I would love to return to this spot in the future but I would want to ensure these items were resolved before doing so.

No stay at an Oregon Coast vacation rental in Netarts is complete without strapping on some waders and catching your own dinner; but that's not the only reason to visit this friendly fishing village. It's surrounded by some of the coast's most majestic scenery. Netarts is located just north of Cape Lookout State Park, a favorite hiking and camping destination for Oregon Coast connoisseurs. The park includes the long, sandy Netarts Spit that stretches north of the cape itself, protecting the ecologically rich bay from the crashing waves of the Pacific. Beachcombers consider it a prime location for collecting glass floats and unusual shells.

Cape Lookout is part of the Three Capes Scenic Route, a popular driving tour of panoramic ocean views, historic lighthouses, and rural dairy farms. In addition to fishing, crabbing, and clamming, the surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. From your Netarts vacation rental, head to the beach to enjoy kite-flying, sandcastle-building, surfing, kayaking, and beach combing; further inland, some truly excellent hikes can be reached within ahalf an hour. Make sure to visit the highest waterfall in the Coast Range, at Munson Creek Falls State Park.

Of course, catching your own dinner is the best way to experience the rich bounty of Netarts Bay; but for the less adventurous, local institution The Schooner offers a more hands-off way to enjoy fresh oysters, clams, and crab. Additional dining options, such as the highly-regarded Roseanna's Cafe, are only two miles up the beach in Oceanside, or Tillamook's numerous choices are only a fifteen minute drive away.

Netarts is optimally located, with all of the region's most popular destinations easily reached within an hour and a half: Astoria, Seaside, and Cannon Beach to the north; Pacific City, Lincoln City, and Depoe Bay to the south. Portland itself is also only an hour and a half from little Netarts.

To explore the best of the Northern Oregon Coast while returning home each night to a peaceful little fishing village, a Netarts vacation rental is an unexpectedly delightful option.
