Recent Port Orford guest reviews

It was wonderful to be able to spend two weeks right in the center of everything I like to visit in Port Orford, as well as have a front row seat for king tides. The beds are comfy, the shower is roomy, there are extra blankets to use to be able to be cozy on the couch or windowseat, and the wifi is more than enough for remote work, including Zoom meetings. It was hard to leave and we really appreciated being to feel like we were home.

Nice place but had issues. Hot water ran out fast, outside trash cans full upon arrival, many empty liquor bottles, bathroom sink drainage problems, fridge had nonstop beeping problem, one tv only, flies and knats and carpenter ants, window leaking down wall during rain, dishes needed wash multiple times, not a great place if you’re tall, no bedroom doors, almost 3 1/2 foot high step to get into jet tub, many missing instructions (pellet stove, dishwasher, tub, etc), tiny couch and no other lounge seats, no games, kitchen could have used more baking dishes and towels, tv apps being used elsewhere so couldn’t watch things bc too many in use and extremely hard to get ahold of anyone for issues and for early check in. Positives - comfy beds, nice view, two garages, location, dog bowls, soaps, jet tub was nice, unique house.

Beach comb, fly a kite, build sandcastles - Port Orford has it all! From here, you'll be just 56 miles north of Brookings and about 27 miles south of Bandon. Day trips in either direction, along Highway 101 are a scenic and fun way to spend the day. If you do want to stay near your Port Orford lodging, right in town you can visit Battle Rock, a famous battlesite between opposing forces in 1851. At Port Orford Bay, there are opportunities for wind, board, and body surfing, and in calm weather, you can head out in a canoe or kayak. Visit the Orford Reefs, the sea lion rookery, and keep an eye out for gray whales during the migration seasons.

Throughout Port Orford, there is an extensive trail system winding through town. It's a great way to sight-see on two feet. Other hiking options include nearby Cape Blanco State Park (also home to an historic lighthouse), the Blacklock Point Trail, Humbug Mountain, and even Buffington Park. Here you can also play miniature golf, horseshoes, basketball, or visit a butterfly and hummingbird garden. And when you work up an appetite, this small town is big on dining options, whether it's Crazy Norwegians for crab melts or the Paradise Cafe for home-style country breakfasts.
