About Carson

The drive along Highway 14 in Washington, through the Columbia River Gorge, affords some of the most beautiful scenery in the Pacific Northwest. You’ll experience moss-covered trees, snow-capped peaks, rolling hills dotted with vineyards, and the pristine waters of the Columbia River. Tucked along this scenic area, our Carson vacation rentals are waiting to host your most memorable Washington getaway yet.

Your cozy cabin will be in the heart of some of the most easily accessible hiking in Washington and Oregon. Carson is just 10 minutes from the trailhead to Dog Mountain, one of the area’s most popular hikes. This six-mile trek is comprised of very steep switchbacks, but affords one of the best overlooks into the Columbia River Gorge on both the Oregon and Washington sides. Be sure to plan ahead—a pass may be required, as well as a shuttle when the parking lot is full. But trust us, it’s worth the effort. Of course, there are hundreds of trails surrounding our Carson vacation rentals—the town is just moments from the Gifford Pinchot National Forest—so if you’re looking for a more secluded outdoor experience, you’re in luck.

After your hike, head to Walking Man Brewery in Stevenson for a cold pint. If you’re looking for a little more activity, nearby Hood River is home to multiple mainstay breweries, plus many eateries and shops. You could also make a day-trip into Portland for all that the city has to offer, from museums and high-end dining to delightfully divey bars and record stores.

The Columbia River Gorge is one of Washington’s best areas for easy outdoor access. Come experience all this special place has to offer with one of our Carson vacation rentals.
