About Sultan

Travelers to Washington’s North Central Cascades region seek two things: tranquility and the unparalleled beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Our Sultan vacation rentals are surrounded by Washington’s incredible mountain ranges, rivers, and a healthy dose of small-town charm.

Where is Sultan, WA?

While your Sultan cabin rental will certainly provide a quiet, woodland escape if you choose, you won’t feel totally removed from the goings-on. This small city is about 43 miles from Seattle to the west and another 43 to the slopes at Stevens Pass, located east of Sultan. Anglers love Sultan for its location on the confluence of the Skykomish and Sultan Rivers, an excellent place for fishing.

Things to do in Sultan, WA

The outdoors are a big draw for visitors of our Sultan vacation rentals, and there’s something for every interest and skill level. Choose from a variety of hikes, from easy strolls along the water of Osprey Park to climbing 2,300 feet of gain to summit Mount Pilchuck. The trail at nearby Wallace Falls State Park is a must for visitors to the area—but be sure to arrive at the trailhead early to avoid crowds. The trail is just under six miles round-trip and is ranked as moderate, with 1,300 feet of gain. But the overlooks into the surrounding mountains and, of course, incredible cascading Wallace Falls are well worth the effort.

After your hard work on the trail, reward yourself with a cold pint at Timber Monster Brewing Company. You might even be lucky enough to catch a live music performance. Be sure to fill up a growler to go, so you can enjoy a hearty porter or crisp IPA back at your Sultan vacation rental.

If you’re visiting in the summer, be sure to stop by the Sultan Shindig, a three-day street fair hosted by the city every July. This event has grown quite a bit since its first run in 1983, now attracting 20,000 visitors every year. Celebrate the logging history of the Skykomish Valley around you: watch contests in axe-throwing, firewood chopping, speed climbing, and wood sculpting. You can also enjoy carnival rides, games, live music, a parade, and car show.

There’s so much to see in Washington’s incredible North Central Cascades. Make the most of it with a home base perfectly situated for hikes, skiing, and more with one of our Sultan vacation rentals.
