Scotts Valley is located 30 miles south of San Jose and six miles north of Santa Cruz (both reachable via the Santa Cruz Highway). The small town of Felton is just four miles west, while the seaside village of Aptos is only 12 miles southeast.

Surrounded by coast redwood forests, visiting hikers will want to head out on the many trails that wind throughout the region. Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is located just three miles from the heart of Scotts Valley, while Big Basin Redwoods State Park, California's oldest state park, can be found just 18 miles from the city.
The whole family will enjoy the Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow Gauge Railroad just four miles away in nearby Felton, as well as the widely popular Mystery Spot in nearby Santa Cruz.
Scotts Valley is also home to the historic Scott House, built by Hiram Daniel Scott (for whom the city is named after) and located in MacDorsa Park. Visit the house itself, walk through the park, and let the kids enjoy themselves in the playground.
