This 9th floor apartment located in the guarded gated luxury Amara (and Dreams) apartment complex, overlooks the beautiful Caribbean coast. The apartment includes access to a private, guarded section of white sandy beach much deeper than the neighboring Dreams complex's beach. There is a huge private pool for residents as well adjacent to the beach. During our stay in late November, the beach and pool were quiet with just a handful of guests there at any time. There is a bar cabana at the pool which is serviced by the neighboring fish restaurant which itself was great and situated right on the beach - literally sea level, tables on the sand. This is all located north of the hotel district which has its pros and cons. Much more peaceful if that's what you're looking for. There are a couple of small grocery stores just outside the complex and taxis and buses available for transport to the Centro or hotel district and beyond. The apartment itself was very satisfactory for our needs. It was clean and modern if not A+ quality. The mattresses were too soft for us and with six of us, one had to sleep on the fold-out chair-bed or sofa. Kitchen equipment was adequate and provided everything required to cook our own meals for dietary needs. The instant hot water heater was intermittently faulty and needs to be fixed for new guests. 3x smart TVs and good internet service/Wi-Fi was a definite bonus. The East-facing balcony accessed through floor to ceiling glass patio doors overlooking the awesome views and immaculately kept gardens between the building and beach are picture-postcard level. Armando, the apartment manager was very attentive and helpful, especially when we had to deal with the loss of my wallet. We would highly recommend the complex and this apartment in particular.

Where is Cancún?

This corner of paradise sits on the edge of the Yucatan Peninsula, a part of sunny Mexico that juts out into the Caribbean and hosts some of the country's most beloved attractions. Cancún itself sits just north of its neighboring beach town, Playa del Carmen, which is full of resorts, historic sights, and gorgeous beaches. Cozumel's cruise-friendly shores are about 70 miles southeast of Cancún.

Things to Do in Cancún

Whether you're a Cancún veteran or a first-time visitor, you'll find plenty to entertain and delight you here. Enjoy the Caribbean sunshine with a day at Xcaret Park, an eco-theme park where you can swim or float the river. While every beach in Cancún is beautiful, Playa Delfines' distinct lack of hotels and businesses make it particularly enticing. If you're looking for a more swim-friendly beach, try Playa Tortugas, where the jewel-blue waters are a little calmer.

Cancún's Mayan ruins are a point of local pride. El Rey Archaeological Zone boasts several large stone ruins (including a pyramid) and is certainly worth a visit - perhaps after a picnic at the nearby Playa Delfines. Other ruins, like the famous Chichen Itza, are an easy day trip away and offered by many local tour companies. After a day of exploring, peruse your restaurant options in downtown or hit the clubs in Zona Hotelera.

From the beaches to the culture and beyond, Cancún's high energy attracts and mesmerizes visitors. Save your spot at one of our Cancún vacation rentals and see what all the buzz is about!
