Recent Gearhart guest reviews

We hosted our annual ladies trip. 12 women and it never once felt crowded. We crafted on the picnic tables, napped in the grass, read on a bench by the ocean, played piano, used 6 burners at once to cook incredible food and eat together at the huge table. The fireplace was perfect and easy to use. We set up a sewing machine by the window and even had a photo shoot on the stairs. All in all it was incredible, we'll be back for sure.

This home was perfect for our family of four with two pups! It was clean, had all the supplies we needed, including extra blankets, and the yard snd deck were perfect for meals and campfires. We will be back!

We stayed 4 nights, a family group of 6 with grown children. The house was very comfortable and wonderful for hanging out ( lots of living space) making our own meals and eating together. The gas heater stove made the place very cozy. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking your own meals. The neighborhood is very quiet, and the beach is about 4 blocks away, very walkable. The location is perfect for spending time both in Seaside/ Canon Beach and Astoria. The queen and king mattresses are quite firm which was great for most of us but one of our party found the mattress too firm. The single bed mattresses were softer. For grocery shopping there is a Grocery Outlet and a Safeway a couple miles away. We would definitely rent this place again.

Things to do in Gearhart, OR

The town is mostly residential, with a large number of vacation homes, but a charming strip of downtown retail offers all the amenities a visitor could want: an old-fashioned grocery store, a lovely bakery and cafe, antique shops, and a glass-blowing studio. Golfers flock to Gearhart's 18-hole public golf course, among the oldest west of the Mississippi, made even more desirable now that the McMenamins Sand Trap is located on site!

Kids and adults alike will love riding bikes along the town's wide streets, or head to the beach for sand castle building, kite flying, and whale watching. From your Gearhart vacation rental, nearby recreation areas at Del Rey Beach State Park and Sunset Beach State Park offer even more stretches of sandy coastline to explore, plus hiking trails and horseback riding.

Day trips from Gearhart, OR

Gearhart feels very quiet and secluded, but only a few miles south lies the bustling tourist town of Seaside. Here, visitors and local families delight in strolling the oceanfront promenade, with its seemingly endless array of arcades, souvenir shops, and saltwater taffy. Seaside also offers a wide selection of dining options, from pizza and pasta to seafood, Mexican cuisine, or even Japanese. Award-winning restaurants and more upscale shopping are only fifteen minutes further south in Cannon Beach, or drive twenty minutes north to Astoria for fresh seafood right off the boat from the Columbia River.

Gearhart is one of the closest beach towns to Portland, only an hour and a half away, and less than three and a half hours from Seattle. Along the Northern Oregon coast, our Gearhart vacation rentals are an excellent destination for discerning travelers who like to be close to all the action, but still feel the peace and quiet of a relaxing resort town.
