Spacious, classic lakeside getaway w/lake views, boat moorage!
This beautiful lakefront South Hero vacation rental offers breathtaking views of the Green Mountains and Outer Mallets Bay, along with plenty of space inside and out for up to eight guests to enjoy. Soak up the amazing views and relaxing ambiance of Lake Champlain from the spacious deck, or through the cabin's towering windows. There is also mooring available for up to a 20-foot boat.
Tucked on the end of South Street, this cottage also has a very convenient location in South Hero. It's only a few minutes to the grocery store and restaurants, while Burlington is only 25 minutes away.
The cottage is cozy and warm, but still spacious and well-equipped to host the entire family. The eat-in kitchen has the appliances and the gear needed for cooking a hearty dinner after a day out on the lake. The cottage is also perfect at any time of year: you'll stay nice and warm inside on chilly winter nights, or spend summer afternoons lounging on the lakefront deck.
The cottage has three bedrooms, each with a double bed; the master bedroom has lake views and a private entrance out to the deck. In addition, there's a den with a pullout sofa for a few extra guests. There's a full bath with a tub and shower, and a half bath to help keep morning routines running smoothly, even with a full house of up to eight guests.
While you might choose to get away from it all here, you don't have to completely unplug: the cottage comes with WiFi, and also has a TV with DVD player for movie nights.
If you're up for an adventure, take the steep stair trail down to the rocky beach for a dip in the lake, or cast a line, or launch a boat.
South Hero has a lot to offer anyone looking for a great escape. Biking is a very popular activity during the spring, summer, and fall, with the scenic Island Line Bike Trail only a few minutes away. Fishing in Lake Champlain can be enjoyed year round. Don't forget to bring your kayak or rent one at a local shop to head out on the lake during a warm summer's day. The island is perfect for year-round escapes.
Get away from it all in true Vermont fashion when you stay at this lovely lakefront South Hero vacation rental!
*Please note, the fireplace is not functional and is for decorative purposes only.
Location is great. Everything you can want in a cabin on the lake. Clean, private, great location!
Inselheim in South Hero provided the perfect escape. Beautiful location, big open windows, tons of space, and a cozy at-home feeling. Couldn't have asked for a better place to relax and unwind. Highly recommend!
Spent our High School friends reunion here and it was great. Great home ! Great time!
Four adults stayed here while visiting relatives in South Hero. The location was lovely and very close to everywhere we wanted to go. We traveled to The Alchemist in Stowe and to Burlington and both trips were pleasant and filled with beautiful views. The fallen acorns in October were a little tricky to avoid while walking down to the water on the sloping hillside. We would highly recommend this beautiful home and will gladly return in the future.
Very nice cozy cottage perfect for 8 !
Very pleased with the location, close to the wedding venue. Great place and time with our family. Would stay here again .
Good location and view of the lake.
While there is lots to see and do in this area, we could barely pull ourselves away from the lake view. We enjoyed sitting on the deck looking at the lake and mountains beyond, having coffee while sitting on the landing down to the water, as well as taking a dip. Even sitting in the living room provided a stunning view. This spot is quiet and private - no traffic or airport noise, just the sound of the wind in the oak trees and the ping of acorns falling onto the deck!
This house is right on the lake, beautiful way to wake up, super peaceful in a really quiet neighborhood. The house itself is very accommodating if not slightly outdated but overall that doesn't matter so much. Some very interesting reading inside the house, plenty of older and newer books.
Very pleasant stay. The house was very comfortable.
The pictures on the website don't even do it justice. Absolutely stunning views and all around property. The location and seclusion of this house gave us everything we wanted to accommodate a guys weekend. The house slept 8 of us comfortably and there was tons of yard space for us to spread out and play your classic backyard BBQ games. With direct access to lake champlain we were able to go swimming, canoeing, fishing, etc. with ease. One thing I will suggest is to BRING WATER SHOES (or a spare of old sneakers). It is very rocky.
The back deck w/ the view of the lake is amazing. Perfect spot to post up a have a drink after a meal or day of activities. We took a shuttle into Burlington one night for dinner which was a little expensive, but very worth the piece of mind. This is the perfect place to get away with family or friends.
There's only one small window air conditioner in the downstairs master bedroom. The upstairs bedrooms were unbearable (>90 degrees F) on the day of arrival.
This is a beautiful lakefront home on a quiet scenic island in VT. A fantastic place to spend a vacation, and a wonderful team to rent from. A+
The location and the views are amazing.
We spent the week here using the house as our home base for sight seeing. The property is located away from everything, which is what we were looking for. We were two couples on vacation and needed enough space to be together during the day, but have our own spaces at night. The house didn't disappoint in that way. Plenty of room to spread out for sure,
There are beautiful sunrises over the lake to be seen through the floor to ceiling windows on the east side of the house. Amenities are more than adequate from cooking utensils to laundry facilities. We were aware going in that there is only one full bathroom in the house. Just plan accordingly and all will be fine.
The one complaint we have is that we were unaware, until after we arrived that the fireplace that's advertised is not functional.
Be aware, if arriving after dark, to make sure and bring a flashlight. The lockbox is to the left of the door on a wooden and wrought iron bench. We made several circuits of the house looking for this lockbox before finally finding it. The box itself is black as is the bench.
We would return without hesitation of the fireplace gets fixed.

There is really nothing quite like getting up in the morning, and going to bed in the evening, with the sight and sound of the water. Plus the spectacular views of the mountains.
Overall, we were happy with the house. It was spacious and comfortable, and the views are great. Be aware, though, that the lakefront is a 40-foot bluff. It is possible to get down to the lake using a steep set of stairs, but there's no real beach, just large rocks. It would be possible for adults to go down and swim with water shoes, but it's not very attractive and the lake access is not suitable for small children. (The bluff is fenced; though the fence could use some maintenance it seemed ok.) Fortunately, there's a lovely sand beach at Sandbar State Park 10 minutes away and a free town beach on the west side of the island - bare bones and small rocks rather than sand, but totally usable.
This was a very nice home away from home. The house was comfortably furnished and the kitchen well appointed, with sufficient paper products etc. The grounds were well maintained and the landscaping was very nice. The views are as advertised and it would be easy to spend your entire time on the porch looking at the lake. There were only three of us so we were not crowded and the facilities served us well. It might be a bit trickier with a full house of eight people. We appreciated the well-labled switches and other directions around the house. Note: the fireplace is not in working condition.
When the lake levels cooperate there is access to a small rocky beach via a very steep set of stairs; there was no access onto the during our visit due to the unusually high water level of the lake. (Beach shoes needed in any event).
The nearby Keebler Bay Variety store had everything we needed. Check out the numerous farms and farm stands during the summer season.
Rather than reserving hotel rooms when up at UVM to visit your college student, this place is a great idea...easily sleeps 8, and has lots of room to relax.
