This is a great little cabin just outside of town. The area around the cabin is very quiet and peaceful and the view is fantastic. It's also only about 5 minutes drive from town. The cabin itself was very comfortable and clean. There was plenty of room for the two of us and we didn't lack for modern amenities even though the whole place is designed to look very old. Although the cabin didn't have internet it did have cable TV and we were able to get a usable cell signal (T-Mobile) for the little bit of internet use we wanted. Overall it was a great place to stay and my wife and I have already agreed we'll book it again for our next trip out to Fredericksburg.

What a delightful spot. Cozy does not do it justice. Comfortable, fully equipped with a spectacular view and a delightful setting. We will certainly be back.

The property was great. But the rental rate was 240 per night. That's what I thought. But all the extras brought it up to 375 for the night. Honestly the 108 charged for cleaning is outrageous and I never would have rented the property based on that charge alone. Unfortunately that will be the only time I stay there as I am honestly offended by all the add on charges.
Manager Response:
We are very disappointed to read this review and wish the guest had contacted us regarding a break down of the total cost. As one of our B&B units, we do not charge a cleaning fee. This guest paid $200/night in rent, $41.09 for a booking fee, and $28.75 in taxes bringing it to a total of less than $300 on our end. They did book through booking.com which might have applied their own fees. We always recommend guests book directly through us. Thank you!

We had a lot of fun staying in this cute cabin. The added touch of the pastry was a pleasant surprise. We burned a fire the first night, which was cold, so it was nice touch. Bed was comfy and big!

I literally wanted to take this cabin and relocate it to wherever I want to live in the future. It was perfect! So cute and and quaint! It was beautiful and very comfortable. The heater worked just fine, plenty of hot water, even a TV if you like that kind of thing. And a coffee cake pastry on the table to help ourselves to in the morning ???? plus coffee, OJ, creamer, hot cocoa. The works! I would definitely come back here!

When we first pulled in the driveway we were pretty excited! The porch looked like an outdoor country living room and the view was beautiful! Once we opened the door to the cabin it got even better! Even though we had seen the pictures on the website we weren't prepared for how absolutely sweet it was! We were there just before Christmas so there were stockings hung over the fireplace and a little tree in the corner. The downstairs was quite a bit smaller than it appeared in the photos but every bit as nice. Unfortunately we happened to be there on the coldest days of the year (it got down to 18*!!!) so we didn't get to use the outdoor space. If we ever go back to Fredricksberg we would absolutely stay at Bear Cabin again!

I would say if you want to ...hit the town for great shopping and art, Then fantastic German food. Go back to the cabin for quiet ,peace ,relaxation. A great escape for stressed out people who need to get away from it all.

This cabin is wonderful with the views and quietness you do not see in the city. The deer alone was a pleasant sight along with the turkeys that wandered the road. The location was nice and the cabin was well kept. I would come back because of the peacefulness.

Excellent cabin about five minutes outside of downtown Fredericksburg. Cabin was originally built in the mid 1800's having been renovated with modern luxuries (i.e. plumbing, HVAC, satellite, etc.). Provides that old time rustic feel without compromising living conditions.

Property Owner (Andrea) was very nice and does an excellent job. Only complaint is that you share a common wall on the 2nd floor and can hear your neighbors clearly. But hey...this thing was build nearly two centuries ago so that is to be expected.

Loved the place and would definitely recommend. An especially great location for two couples to stay as there is a neat common area for dinner.
Rhea S. Oct 2016
Loved this place. I woke up, drank coffee on the patio and watched the wild turkeys. The bed and bath tub were great. Only suggestion would be to improve the breakfast that was offered. I don't feel like it could have even been considered Continental breakfast. Great view of the valley. I'm happy I stayed there.

We had a most enjoyable stay at this quaint little cabin nestled on a hilltop along a winding road. There were jack rabbits, turkeys and deer abound. We could have easily stay in the whole time. We especially loved our welcome and parting gifts from our cabin host. The Bear Cabin and Will Cabin are a log cabin duplex and a wonderful place for two couples to enjoy an adventure together.

This is the most peaceful place to get away for a few days. If you like nature, you will love this place.
