We enjoyed our stay very much. The kitchen had everything in it a cook would want/need. Hot Tub was great. Lots of towels. Suite itself was very clean. will book again.

The Summit Suite at Idabel lake was a winter wonderland. We have been up in the summer months, and it was amazing, but we didn't realize how fantastic it was in the winter months! So many things to do. Tobogganing, skating and hockey on the ice. Lots of snowshoeing opportunities and there are hundreds of kilometers of cross country ski trails and snowmobile opportunities as well.

Having the hot tub was amazing too. nothing better than warming up from a long day outside in a hot tub lakeside with that million dollar view. Definitely appreciated.

the kids craft bin was a nice touch and there were plenty of movies available. We even cooked smokies over the fire for lunch!

We will definitely be back again, not only in the summer but in the winter as well.

We loved it. The place was so spacious and clean. Everything you need.

The reasons for this 3 Star rating for the Summit Suite are based on our expectations for a fee of almost $400/night. We have stayed in many resorts in the Okanagan, paid a lot less, and never experienced what we experienced during our stay in the Summit Suite.
Firstly, we had a rodent issue that got into our food, forcing us to throw away what they got into and go back into town to buy more. The second night we managed to catch one of the rodents and released it back into the wild. Then the following night, the rest of its family decided to explore and see what else they could get into. Luckily, this time, we had the common sense to put away any snacks and food that could entice the rodents to come back. Is this something one would expect to experience in a $400-per-night resort?(!!)
Secondly, after a long drive to the resort, we expected to take advantage of the lovely hot tub and soak away the weary traveling miles and just soak and enjoy a glass of wine while gazing up at the stars. Nope! It never happened because we were too busy trying to figure out what we were sitting in. The following morning, we discovered gravel on the bottom of the hot tub, not to mention the dirt ring that I had to clean. Again, is this something one would expect to experience in a $400-per-night resort?(!!)
Thirdly, there was no wifi, local TV network, or cable. To be fair, we never looked at what was included in our stay at the Summit Suite. Had we, I don't think we would have stayed there, we would have chosen another suite.
There was this beautiful 45-inch TV (it could have been bigger), but nothing to watch on it. There must have been over a hundred kiddie DVDs, but we thought we would enjoy their selection of Blue-ray movies, which, of course, could not be played on their DVD system.
Once again, we lucked out. In baseball, the owners of the Summit Suite would be "called out" on these three strikes.
The Summit Suite is very well equipped for families with little children (maybe not the balcony so much because that was dodgy too - it was very loose and not well maintained) and their pets. We brought out two small dogs with us, and the kiddy gate was a lovely surprise as we could keep the dogs off the decks and beach area by blocking them in.
The resort itself was okay, I suppose, but was it worth the $400 per night? Personally, I don't think so. But what we really enjoyed was the lake. We were expecting to catch fish, but after a week there, we did not catch a single fish: not for lack of trying, we went out every morning, afternoon, and night. This did not bother us at all because the enjoyment of just taking in the scenery, sounds, and serenity of the lake area while trying to fish was enjoyable.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us, Annilene! We have found the mouse entry and are getting it repaired to prevent any further problems. The hot tub has been dumped and deep cleaned. The water here is all lake water, so it won't ever look quite the same as city water. We hope you will consider returning!

Really nice location right on the lake. Surprisingly quiet considering the unit is directly attached to two other units (like a townhouse). Hot tub was piping hot. Beds were OK, master bedroom was a bit taco shaped. Plenty of towels for all, even the dog which was a nice touch. Canoes and rowboats were a hit with the family.

Only real downside was we didn’t receive a code to enter the games room which would’ve been nice on a very rainy weekend but we made do with the large assortment of books / puzzles in the cabin.

Idabel Lake Resort is a gem, we love our yearly trip out of the busy and into the quiet with no cell service or WiFi. This year we knew it would be HOT so we came prepared with extra water and extra fans knowing there is no AC. But what we weren't prepared for was the all the broken window handles and screens.

Not being able to open or close windows due to handles being broken off when it was 44 degrees, by the thermometer on the suite deck, is a BIG problem. We could open some other windows, but the screens were so bent and not seated properly our suite would have been full of bugs in no time.

When we turned off the one provided fan to move it, it was disgustingly dirty. I know heat isn't something usual up at Idabel, same time 2 years ago when we pulled in it was snowing. The window repairs seems minor but they mean a lot when you're trying to keep cool in the weather we just experienced.

Suite was clean, new flooring throughout, beds were comfy, hot tub was crystal clear. Missing the extra seating that the day bed provided in the livingroom, suite sleeps 8 people but there is only seating for 4 now (2 of which are uncomfortable wicker). Phone in the games room did not work this trip, found another below by the life jackets as the one that was in Summit years past is no longer there.

Patio umbrella is broken. The second last day we were out there the wind picked up and blew the neighboring suites table over off their deck. Thought I would put ours down as it was up when we arrived, but it wouldn't go down. I couldn't get it back up either!

Overall good stay, beautiful suite, but in need of small (but important) repairs that go a long way for guest comfort. Super great touch with dvd player, movies, kids activity bins and yardzhee! Until next year...

Manager response:
Hi, Courtney! The homeowner has been provided a copy of your review so they can look at getting these issues resolved. Thank you for choosing to stay with us!

This was a great spot right on the water nestled between a green space and playgrounds for the kids and the lake. Wide range of DVDs available but we didn’t even touch as our kid just wanted to be outside and down on the beach which is a literal 2 min walk. Sandy beach and a fun pirate ship that the kids can play on. A lower deck below the suite with table and chairs were perfect for evening drinks and chatting while the sun set for the adults. During the day grab a boat and go explore the lake or jump off the dock and go for a swim.

A beautifully situated, bit of peaceful paradise! Enjoyed a breathtaking lake-view from a wall of windows in the suite. Very private deck with hot tub. Didn’t want for anything, the suite was well stocked, clean, with beautiful furnishings. We were extremely comfortable!

Our family enjoyed the on-site Games Room and well kept playground, for the kiddies. Popular was a fun pirate ship to play on, located by the docks.

We really enjoyed a nice bonfire lunch at the resort and hiked many local trails in the area. Wish we had found this gem sooner. The Summit Suite at Isabel is our favourite and we plan on returning for many more great retreats soon!

Was amply stocked with everything and anything you can imagine!! Was a very nice treat! Comfy beds and a beautiful large dining table to sit all your family/friends

After an easy drive from the coast we arrived to this spotless new and well appointed unit. Views of the lake and surrounding hills were spectacular. Enjoyed several days hiking and snowshoeing from our doorstep and at the nearby Kelowna Nordic ski area, just 5 minutes down the road.
Grilled steaks on the BBQ, sipped fabulous Okanagan wine and relaxed in the hot tub on the deck with an incredible view of the stars.
We will undoubtedly return at our earliest opportunity.

3 couples shared this suite for a few days of nordic skiing at McCulloch Lake nordic area. The suite was well provisioned and comfortable. Great views of the lake from the living areas. The caretaker had cleared the snow and made it safe for us to come and go. Nice place.
Melissa B. Jan 2020
it was right on the lake and it was clean, games room is always fun,
Rachel F. Apr 2019
Great cabin, cozy feel. Beautiful setting. Very spacious. The games room was so much fun. We had a bit of difficulty finding Idabel as the sign giving directions was missing so a few of our guests got lost on the way up.
We also found the bedding on the extra beds was not clean- pretty disappointing.
Otherwise a great stay. We would stay here again.

Overall an excellent time, everything you need is supplied in the way of cookware etc. Great shower..lots of hot water. The custodian (i think it was Todd) was awesome..very helpful. The only drawbacks were some outer repairs not done yet due to a brutal winter and snow damage. I will return to enjoy another stay without a doubt.
David P. Aug 2018
The suite was ideal for our family and was clean and in good condition. That cannot be said for the infrastructure though.I understand that there had been heavy snowfall this past winter but that is no excuse for loose railings protruding nails, wobbly stairs etc.Location was excellent though.

This was our fourth trip to Idabel Lake resort but it has been a few years since last time and we were disappointed in a few things . The screens all had holes or were very bent so couldn't have open as the Mosquitos were getting in which make it uncomfortable hot at night . The second day they brought us a couple fans to help . The BBQ was in rough shape as all the burners were really corroded and one of the burner covers was missing so the flames shot out the back. A new day bed we were told was just out in living room and it was big and bulky , very put of place and not comfy at all to sit on , kinda weird to put in a cabin looked like it belonged in a nursery or something .
All else was great , nice peaceful place to get away to and the comforter on bed was great . Will return .

Nice place, well kept and very quiet

Had a group of us up for some relaxation and ice fishing for one night. The rental company was very friendly, the property was just as shown in the photos, and the location was the perfect distance from Kelowna. For the price and in comparison to other rentals we looked at, I would definitely go back again.
Tami H. Feb 2018
We have stayed in the summit suite before and everything was great but this time there was no extra towels for the hot tub and only 4 bath towels to use all weekend. the patio door doesn't lock with the handle and you have to use the foot lock to lock the door.
I have sent an email about the return of our damage deposit been almost 3 days and no respond or my return on my credit card
Lynae C. Jan 2018
The location was a 10 minute drive from the Kelowna Nordic ski area (big plus).Kids loved the game room.Walls are thin so noise from adjacent unit was noticeable. Had issues with a power outage most of Saturday evening. Also got locked out of our unit before our check-out time which was complicated by no cell service. But, staff was very responsive, helpful and friendly. Owners in neighboring unit friendly and welcoming. The area is peaceful and beautiful. We enjoyed our short stay and would love to return.

Love Idabel Lake.Breathtaking views and very comfortable accommodation. The games room and bonfire areas are fantastic any time of year!

Condo was good size for our multi-generation family stay. Idabel lake is very quiet, peaceful and nice break with no cell phone or WiFi service. Scenic view from balcony with our own pier and row boats and canoes always available free. most modern amenities, very clean, fresh bed linens and towels.
Tami H. Jun 2017
relaxing and weather was great. Only thing this suite needs is a fire alarm and the bbq needs to be cleaned.
Tu L. Jun 2017
- very comfortable
- only issue was the washroom. The toilet would flush, but there was a problem with the tank filling up with water and had to be adjusted
- no one on the property greeted us or asked us if we needed anything. This is very differe

Great location, good amenities, feels secluded and yet so close to Big White! All round great trip away!
Melissa R. Mar 2017
I rented the Summit Suite for a long weekend to relax and spend some time snowboarding at Big White. Unfortunately the roads were closed between Vancouver and Kelowna so missed our first night at the rental because we were unable to get there. Overall it was a nice place, good proximity to Big White, scenic area. Luckily the staff on the property was available because the door code wasn't working and they had to reset it a few times. Also, the internet (although listed to be available by purchase) was not working at all.

Overall, the experience was good. The rooms and the house were more than enough space. We had a great time playing hockey, snowshoeing, sledding, sitting around the fire outside. There were a few quirks when we got there that made it to be not a perfect weekend, but overall it was good.

We enjoyed our stay and plan to continue coming to Idabel for Christmas again. This year I was slightly inconvenienced as I needed internet service due to being "on call" for my job for part of our stay.I ordered and payed for service but was not connected and therefore had to interrupt the manager at 7am experiencing an uncomfortable interaction so early in the morning.Firstly, it was Christmas morning and I had to get up and dress before venturing to the manager's residence.I then had to experience three dogs barking and causing quite a scene as I approached the gate, I then cautiously open the gate making sure the dogs wouldn't escape and knocked on the door to wake the manager up.I was greeted with an angry look, of course it was early and who would want to be disturbed that early.I explained that I required internet and could not get connected. He then apologized and invited me in to work on solving my problem. It was resolved 30 min. after my "on call" had started. He said that this has been a problem for a while.I love coming here for our Christmas and hope to not require internet service next time but would have made previous arrangements for service had I been informed of the issue.I expected a hassle free internet connection because when we drove up internet was offered on my phone immediately.I recommend letting your guests know that if they need service it is not as easy as it appears and that it takes time and possibly assistance.I appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback to you and this experience in no way will deter us from returning.
