Very comfortable & clean with AMAZING VIEW.

Great location

Great weekend getaway space! Ocean view is terrific! Location great! Playful decor is delightful! Kitchen has every essential! Be sure to realize that this is a duplex and you share the ocean side yard with other guests!
Marjorie F. Jul 2019
Lovely setting with outstanding view of the sea - enjoyed it greatly. Be aware though that the studio next door stays rented alot at high season. It does affect privacy. The house is fun and very comfortable.
Carol A. Jul 2019
Beautiful, unique- perfect! Lovely place.
Bobby K. Jul 2019
We stayed at this house for a weekend with friends and absolutely loved it! The views were amazing, and we enjoyed sitting out by the fire pit in the evenings. It was in a great location being in Oswald West State Park, and walking distance to the beach. Close to Manzanita and Cannon Beach for shopping and food options. The home itself was clean and functional, we would definitely book a stay again!
karena o. Jun 2019
It is tucked in on the bluff with a ton of privacy. We loved the deck and the beautiful windows opening up to the panaramic view of the ocean. Everything we needed was right there. The fire pit was a bonus!
Jake S. Jun 2019
My wife and I honeymooned at Bears Head and had a wonderful time. With short drives to great food and great hikes, we had a great stay. The facilities exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend it to others.
Susan M. Apr 2019
Beautiful view of the Pacific in a serene quiet area, The house is colorful with lots of paintings, nice furniture, a well-equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Second visit. Will be back
Tammy B. Mar 2019
We loved every bit of this place! Would highly recommend.
Barb D. Nov 2018
The main living space and master bedroom are full Oceanview! Located set back from a cliff between Cape Falcon to the south and Arch Cape to the north. Very privet neighborhood yet a short drive from popular Cannon Beach. Lovely fun decor and wonderful kitchen and dinning areas that are stocked with all you need.
Carla B. Nov 2018
The house doesn’t look like much from the front but when you open the door......it takes your breath away
Darrell E. Oct 2018
Well the weather certainly helped because it was amazing when we were there. But the deck was beautiful to sit out and watch the sea. The barbeque was fantastic to have on the deck as we cooked our own meals. Great fireplace for the evening, would recommend this to anyone .
Doris P. Oct 2018
We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Bears Head. The house was comfortable and well equipped for our stay. The view and the sound of the ocean were music to our hearts. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.
Jennifer S. Aug 2018
We had a wonderful time at this house! The views were incredible and the house was perfect for our family!
Kristine P. Jun 2018
This is our new favorite spot at the Oregon coast! The house and surrounding property were absolutely lovely. The home was spacious, nicely decorated and well-stocked. We were very pleased with our stay and plan to return each summer!
Dennis R L. May 2018
Spacious, amazing views of the ocean, well equipped (except need glass wine glasses). Fun decor. Perfect for two couples. Arch Cape is great if you want to be somewhere quiet and uncrowded. You can drive to Cannon Beach for restaurants and shops. Only complaint is the bed in one of the bedrooms- too soft and I kept rolling towards the middle of the bed. The mattress should be replaced. We will rent this place again!
Kim M. May 2018
The home was well maintained, the view and deck were awesome!
Ann S. May 2018
Good kitchen, fireplace, bbq, needs directions on turning on tv, the small bath has a mildew order. But very cute.
Michael D. May 2018
We visited for a couple of days with our adult children and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Adorable home. Loved the open concept and the view. The home was clean and comfortable as well as colorful. Loved the art work! Great for my elderly mother who uses a walker. The only downside is that there is no beach access from the property. Overall thumbs up!!!

Great view!

This is quite a gem! No beach access from the yard, but there was no need and no way to beat the views from either the house or the yard.
Mark G. Jan 2018
We liked everything about the house, great location, comfortable bed, nice to have a real fire place. I think the only complaint would be the guest house next to ours. The people were very nice, but it was kinda of ackward sharing the yard and patio with people you don't know.
Elisa Joy P. Dec 2017
Beautiful views, great kitchen to cook in, and very clean. This is a great house to step away from everyday busy life and take a deep breathe.
Ann M. Dec 2017
We have been going to the Cannon Beach area for a weekend in December since 1982. We like to go to the Christmas Play at the Coaster Theater. After staying at this property, we feel that we have found our place to stay every year. The kitchen was the best equipped kitchen we have ever seen in a rental property. The décor was so comfortable and cozy that we felt right at home immediately. And you simply can't beat the views!
Susan M. Dec 2017
Enjoyed the house with the fun Leslie Ann Butler paintings. They begin the adventure of color that makes the house so inviting. Cooked several meals with the plentiful utensils and cookware. The view is spectacular of the ocean and on warmer days, sitting outside would be a treat. The smaller rental on the right side of the house had several different guests but there was no conflicting noise. Talking of renting in the summer.
Darby S. Nov 2017
Best property I have ever stayed at in the Cannon Beach and surrounding areas.
Susan O. Nov 2017
Was visiting my daughter in the Portland area, and wanted to check out the Oregon Coast. The drive to the coast was amazing, recommend taking the scenic route through the Tillamook National Forest. The property was amazing, the home was great, but the view was amazing. It is a little off the beaten path, but is about 15 minutes from Cannon Beach and Manzinita, which had restaurants and shops to visit. I loved not being in a"tourist trap". The home was well equipped, and had everything we needed. Again, can't say enough about the amazing location of the property, and would love to go back again.
Doug R. Oct 2017
If you are looking for a quiet spot overlooking the ocean, you will do no better. Nice little cabin. Everything worked. Clean. Don't typically write reviews, but this place is worth it.
Denise W. Oct 2017
This house was conveniently located right off Highway 101 in a park-like setting with amazing views. Close to Cannon Beach, Manzanita, beaches and hiking. The views in the pictures are real! The house has a fun decor and is very comfortable.
John G. Jul 2017
We have gone to Arch Cape for the past 20 years! It is free of lots of people, yet is close enough to the action if you want that!
Mark A. Apr 2017
We have stayed before and enjoy the view. This trip we had no internet access that proved to be a problem as I needed to take some on-line testing.

The regular beach access was washed out, so you need to drive to the next bay to get onto the beach; too far to walk.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see there were some hassles during this reservation. The beach stairs have been washed away. At this time there are no plans for repair. The router issue, however, has been taken care of so the internet is functioning correctly. Thanks!
Mandi R. Apr 2017
We loved this property so much we decided to come back for another stay this year. We were welcomed by the same beautiful views and sounds and the same cozy layout of the main house.
We were also welcomed by ants, lots of them, swarming the kitchen over the food we bought or cups of soda left out. Very unexpected and unpleasant.
I've personally dealt with pest control issues at a few different homes and they will not go away no matter how much you clean. You HAVE TO GET RID OF THE NEST.
The mattresses in both rooms are so uncomfortable it was difficult to sleep. The age of them shows through when you get on the bed in the master bedroom and it creaks so loudly it can be heard throughout the entire house when you lay down or rollover.
Overall we still love this property, but it definitely needs TLC to make it worth the drive and the money.
Manager response:
We sincerely apologize for the issue with the ants; we are actively looking for a solution to keep them away. Thanks!

Bear's Head offers tremendous views and sits on a decent chunk of lawn for enjoying the surf and sunsets! It's in a quiet wooded neighborhood between Manzanita and Canon Beach--so there's fun cafes and shops to visit. The home is nicely appointed with whimsical artwork and a festive flair! Lighting can be an issue, as some of the walls are black, and the kitchen has a decorative, but limited light. Well stocked with plates, pots, pans, etc. Nice "butler's pantry" off kitchen to store all your provisions. Great for 2 couples or more if you include the additional studio apartment. Love this place!
Erica C. Mar 2017
This is a fun and funky house! The firepit in the backyard came in especially handy since we were there during a rainy week - we were able to hop outside and roast hot dogs and make s'mores during a brief sun break.

The view from the house is amazing!

You are a short drive to Short Sands and Hug Point which are two of my favorite beaches in the area.

We had no issues sharing a common wall and outdoor space with the couple - and their dog- in the studio next door. There's plenty of room and view to share.

I will rebook.
Chris P. Mar 2017
The windows made me feel like I could reach out and touch the storms. The fire place was nice after a wet day. Fantastic kitchen counter to slap down a fish. Dirty girls get clean in the nice deep bath.
Lynn S. Nov 2016
There are many lovely locations on the Oregon Coast but this place was one of a kind . The decor, the color, the panoramic view, all combined to give us a very special stay. Private yet close to so many beautiful beach locations, we would definitely come again.
Sara M. Nov 2016
This is a beautiful location so if you're looking for a house where you have unencumbered views of the ocean, this is your place. The beach access was washed out so a steep scramble down a muddy slope was the only way to get the beach. The house itself was clean but could use some TLC. Most of the plates are chipped, the wine opener didn't work, and there was no wood, kindling, paper or matches for the beautiful fireplace. It's also very dark and could use some more lamps. I probably wouldn't stay here again. The view is amazing but the house wasn't as good as it could be.
Manager response:
The owner has upgrades planned to take place during the off-season. We'll do our best to keep our guests posted!
Mary Jean B. Oct 2016
This house has an incredible view. I took my sister and 81 yr old mother here and chose this house so my mom could enjoy the ocean as she can't actually walk on the beach. The house was clean and well equipped. I plan to come back.
Sheryl T. Jul 2016
This is the house if you're looking for a grest view. Fantastic deck furniture is a bonus. Inside the house is well equipped with comfortable beds and all the linens you'll need. It's a very.comfortable home away from home. We will be back in the winter not enjoy the fireplace and storm watching.
Ashley H. May 2016
This house has a terrific view and you can hear the surf always. We overlooked the fact that there is no beach access (you can walk down the street to a newly built ladder, not far but steep) when choosing the house. The beach has a lot of rocks on it so you and your family would need to be sure-footed to enjoy getting on and off the beach. The kitchen is very user-friendly and the furniture comfy. For high bank enjoyment, perfect!
Sherry R. Apr 2016
The three of us (two adults and a and our dog really enjoyed our stay here. You cannot find better ocean views anywhere. The kitchen, dining, family room and 'master bedroom' all have ocean front views. There's a large deck and beautiful green lawn extending out to the edge. You should know there's a cliff at the edge of the lawn so be wise about having young children and dogs roaming freely without supervision. There is no beach access from this property or adjacent area. The two places where people try to reach the beach are very dangerous. The beach itself is very short (up against the cliff) and rocky not sandy. Better to drive a short distance to Hug point or Arcadia beach. The house is very in a very nice quiet neighborhood. The house has an adjoining smaller unit that can also share the deck and yard. The drive down to the house is quiet steep on narrow roads with some potholes to watch for. Still the view. the solitude and great location for trips to area towns like Cannon Beach, Manzanita and Tillamook as well as Oswald State park make it a great vacation rental choice. The inside is decorated in a fun unusual way. It has a nice separate pantry room behind the kitchen where the washer and dryer, utility sink and refrigerator are located. All very convenient. The beds were comfortable but agree with other posters that the family room furnishings -- sofas and chairs have seen better days. Loved the fireplace and used it! All in all, a nice place to stay if you don't require beach access.
Ashley W. Feb 2016
This home is a really warm and wonderful place to get away. The drive west of Highway 1 is through an old growth forest and is spectacular. The house is stocked with all you need and very comfortable. We came here with our 18 month old and two Newfoundlands and it was a lot of fun. The view is spectacular. There are two issues to mention: 1) the beautiful grassy yard drops off into a pretty steep ocean cliff, which is a little nerve wracking for toddlers and dogs, 2) the beach is a little short and in the winter, it has large smooth rocks instead of sand. I have heard in the summer it is more sandy. We drove to Manzanita to walk on the beach, which was a fun place to visit!

First, this is a beautiful property. Art and colorful light fixtures and details throughout the house, all reasons I was attracted to renting the property. I was okay with paying over $350 a night to rent this property given the location, view and pet policy. It is unfortunate that a few maintenance issues took away from the overall enjoyment of the property. I think that a bit of attention to detail and a little TLC could go a long way to making this a fabulous property. The following list of issues should be addressed by owner and VACASA: 1) cleanliness – the house needs to be scrubbed and cleaned from top to bottom (windows, kitchen, bathrooms), not just picked up; 2) update linens – old and dingy; 3) furnishings – living room couch and chair; dining room chairs should be updated, outdoor furniture old and rusty, refrigerator water dispenser not working; 4) light bulbs – quite a few are burned out, can lights not attached to ceiling; 5) the little things like having saran wrap and fire wood for the first night (as the wood basket promised!) and 6) update online guest book – thought there would be an iPod docking station – took a bit of time to figure out the Bluetooth wireless MP3 player. Would love to rent this property again and hope that you take this feedback to heart.
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your review with us. We apologize for the several maintenance issues and disappointments you experienced during your stay. We have given this list to the Property Manager so these items can be addressed when possible. We hope to have another chance to impress you!

It was very relaxing, and quiet. Truly loved the whole experience. Will be back.
Denise E. Apr 2015
We shared a wonderful 4 days with our son & his family at Bear's Head. Our 2-year old grandson enjoyed the spaciousness of the house as we all did and it was thrilling to be able to enjoy viewing the constantly changing ocean without ever leaving the house. The backyard was spacious but without a fence between the grass and the precipitous drop-off to the rocks & ocean below we could not allow our grandson to enjoy the freedom of the spacious yard. I would recommend Bear's Head to a large family or group of friends to enjoy both the main house and the attached one bedroom unit.
Linda W. Mar 2015
We were anxious to return to Bear's Head! We brought our own firewood as we love to have a fire every Early Morning & when we "cozy in" for the evening!!! S'mores by firelight!!!
Took many photos & videos so we can relive the special times here- we treat it like our own place.. The art & colors & furnishings are so special.. Sets up a very welcoming Ambience!!!
Had a home in Salishan for awhile, but miss this home more!!
Thanks to all who share it!!!
Manager response:
Thank you for your wonderful review! It sounds like some good memories were made while on your stay. The decor in this house is stunning and really brings the place alive and the view really is amazing! We are pleased to know you enjoyed it so much and hope to see you again!
Sheri F. Mar 2015
We love Bear's Head House (our second visit)-- It's PERFECT if you have 3 couples, 4+ women, or a family, so you can rent the entire house plus studio. If not, you may have to share with another party renting the add-on studio. Suggest you INQUIRE as we were a bit thrown off by neighbors who used our view/yard and "borrowed" 2 of the 3 Adirondack chairs--never to return them. Hopefully owners/managers will buy more chairs so everyone may enjoy the deck and lawn. The whimsical art and decor are fun and the Great Room with wall-to-wall views is AWESOME. We enjoyed sitting at the table on the deck and enjoying cocktails before dinner "in". There's no need to go searching for a good restaurant in Manzanita or Canon, when you have the BEST ocean-front dining experience waiting for your culinary pursuits. We also enjoyed spotting Whale Spouts and watched Harbor (or Dahl) Porpoises play in the surf. This home is a wonderful beach get-away. Highly recommend!
Manager response:
Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that you love this fantastic home. Definitely hard to beat that amazing view! Sounds like you had special entertainment watching the whales and porpoises too! Your feedback is greatly appreciated and I have taken note of your suggestion for the addition of outdoor chairs to allow for more people to be able to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Thank you for sharing your experience with us and we hope to see you again!

Wish we could post pictures here - they say a 1000 words.
As a photographer, this location offers many opportunities to capture some of the Pacific Northwest's most spectacular raw, unspoilt coastlines.

In the absence of pictures, here some words, to try and capture the feeling this home created during our stay.

We are keen outdoors people, so access to wilderness, beach, outdoors is key to our agenda.

When we arrived on this wintery weekend, the home was in a very clean state. (Contrary to the previous reviews)

Our first impressions were of the amazing ocean views, from every room in the house. No matter what your agenda is for your time here, you'll most definitely come home a a room with a spectacular view. In the winter, you can enjoy the the over sized fireplace and while taking in the views of stormy seas, and overwhelming sound of the crashing waves. No doubt that in the summertime, the great lawn in front of the home, will make for spectacular sunset views and even a bonfire under the stars.

This home can certainly double as a great summer or winter getaway. It is very private, and even though the neighboring homes are within clear view, their configurations are such that this home is set back a little, affording it the privacy you need. This area of Arch Cape is located at the foot of the hills, and while this home is somewhat in the clear, the rest of the community is mostly in wooded area, with the morning sunrise a little later than normal, due to the hills to the east. But that's no problem, because this home is situated in a location which is most perfect for enjoying beach sunsets. Google earth will help with your location scouting here.

There is no direct beach access from this home, since it sits higher on the bluff, but beach access is via an access path, a few homes down the road.

The host can consider stocking more firewood. Especially during the winter. But as a backup plan, bring your own firewood, because you'll want to make an occasion of the fireplace when you're home. It was the center of our stay during the entire weekend. We burnt through about five times what was provided by the host.

Kitchen is stocked with everything you need for preparing and feeding an entire family, baking some of your own creations.

In all, a dramatic private scenery and with easy access via a short drive to the nearby villages for stocking up on the essentials.

A drawback of this location can be considered to be no/limited wireless/cel coverage...but the wifi in the home makes up for that.

You'll want to visit this home for it's exclusive and private oceanfront location, affording you the most amazing sunset views or breakfast overlooking this dramatic coastline.

Thank you for allowing us the privilege of sharing your home and the experience it's location offers.
Manager response:
Thank you very much for your thoughtful review and detailed feedback of your experience at this home. It certainly does have some incredible views and we hope that you were able to capture some amazing photographs while you were there! Your comments are very much appreciated. We are so thrilled that you had a wonderful stay and enjoyed all that this home has to offer. We hope you'll think of us for your next getaway.
Ray S. Nov 2014
Great place to unwind and look at the beauty of the Oregon Coast. Peaceful and off the beaten track. Amazing views that go on and on. You'll love the uniqueness of the decor and the cheerfulness of this home. Very well kept and equipped. A welcome change from the expected seagull and lighthouse motifs that you find everywhere. Great art at the beach is always a bonus!!!!
Betsy L. Jul 2014
We've stayed at many beach houses over the years & this house has the most incredible view! Beach access may be difficult for some @ Arch Cape, but views more than make up for it, & Cannon & Manzanita beaches are easier & nearby.
Cynthia L. Apr 2014
Beautiful home and the best view of the ocean I have ever experienced. I grew up in Hawaii , so that says a lot. The house is clean and well stocked with everything you need. I felt pampered, almost spoiled. Heart warming memories of walks on the beach, evenings by the fire, dinners with a view. It was difficult to say good bye.
Manager response:
Wow! That is indeed high praise for the view at Bear's Head! It's great to hear that you'll take fond memories of the beach, view and time by the fire home with you. Please come see us again in the future.
Crystal W. Nov 2013
We had a wonderful time! The view when you walk in the house is breathtaking! It was the perfect weekend getaway for my husband and I and our 2 friends. The house was very comfortable and a great location with fabulous views! We'll definitely be back!
Art R. Jun 2013
We had a fantastic time at 'Bears Head'. The property is nicely situated high to give ones a wonderful & expansive view of the Pacific. Because of this perched view, beach access lacks onsite, but a short walk down the private road quickly gets you there. Then ones have to traverse small size smooth shaped rocks to actually get to the sandy beach when tide is out. We simply drove a short distance to Hug Point to do our beach walking. No complaints here though, as the view and sounds of the ocean at the home were wonderful as we sat out on their large deck sipping on refreshments. There were minor things we discovered at Bears Head, but over all, this is a very nice property to spend a few days enjoying the mighty Pacific Ocean!
