Colorful Waterfront Cabin - Kingston, WA

In order to get to this house you need to drive through beautiful woodsy dirt road and often we saw deer, bunnies and other sorts of critters running around. Not a quick drive but it is just beautiful.
The view from the house is even more beautiful than the drive, at high tide the house is literally on the edge of the water and at low tide it is a treasure trove of seashells, crabs, oysters, small fish and other marine creatures for kids and adults to enjoy.
House itself is a bit chopped up to maximize number of bedroom, not a big of a deal at all.
All in all the house needs some tlc, specially the bathrooms. They could stand to be updated along with the washing machine that didn't work.
House is just about 15 minutes drive from the Ferry and even less than that to town. Plenty of amenities in town and easy access.
DO NOT DRIVE A LOW RIDING SPORTS CAR TO THIS PLACE. It will have difficulties getting to the house or back up to the road.
This is a great place to relax and enjoy some time away from anything you want to get away from and internet connection is plenty fast to stay connected or watch all the shows you would like to watch.
I would stay here again. My daughters enjoyed their time and we loved the fact that we could see them from the living room while they were on the beach at low tide.

The house and scenery were great. However, there were cob webs everywhere, the plumbing made a weird sound, and the house was difficult to find.

My family loved the Horus that sat right on the water. We spent most of our time there. The water was clean. Jets worked really well. The kitchen has basic necessities. If you want extras like tin foil or special seasonings being it with you. The beds were nice and comfortable. We did notice a hint of urine smell but not in the upstairs bathroom like the reviews prior stated. It was more in the entry way to the living room. Also, it was super faint. Nothing that you could sit and smell constantly or strong. I noticed my dogs sniffing the carpet in that room quite a bit so I’m assuming there were some pet accidents. Our dogs stay with us 100% of the time and kennel to bed so it wasn’t an issue of them trying to mark over a pups territory.
Lots of sea life. We regularly saw the bald eagle and lots of sea lions playing- making noise.

Relaxing on the sound watching the ships, the waves and the wildlife.

Stayed here for 2 nights with our 4 year old daughter and dog. All of us had an amazing time. For me and my wife it was views and wildlife watching that made it amazing. We got to see otters, seals and orca whales. For my daughter it was the vacation house it self. She loved the toys and games that were available. Overall an amazing vacation. Location was very close to city center. Can't wait to go back.

Great location

Love waking up to the sound of the waves! Beautiful views and s fun, unique space. The hottub overlooks the water and is s great way to end the day.

This property is located just steps from the water, an easy drive from the ferry terminal in Kingston! We had a fantastic time walking out the front door at low tide and exploring all the sea life.

The home itself is older but well cared for. The kitchen was well stocked (except oddly missing pots when we were there). It had AC, which was really nice as it was hot when we were there. Our daughters loved all the kids books, toys and games!

This unit is half of a home. The inside and outside areas are completely separate but connected with multiple locked doors on the inside (it would be great to rent both units for a larger group!). We could hear our neighbors pretty clearly when we were all inside, but it wasn't an issue for us.

A couple of cons with this property: the hot tub was beautiful looking over the water, but the hot tub water looked pretty gross so we didn't want to get in, the main bathroom smelled strongly of urine.

Overall, the pros greatly outweighed the cons and we had a great visit!

My partner and I spent eight days at the Colorful Cabin. We planned to hike around the Olympic Peninsula during the trip, but the house was so peaceful that we didn’t leave during the entire trip.

The house itself is so peaceful. It had everything we’d hope for — from a quality sound system to a ridiculously comfortable bed and high-efficiency/precision air conditioning. Every room in the house has stunning views of the water, the Cascade mountains, and the sky.

The first night we were there, we ended up laughing at how magical the place is. We watched hot air balloons float up from the mainland shortly before a gigantic blood moon rose behind the mountains — reflected over the water.

The house is right on this gorgeous little bay, and a family of bald eagles nested in a tree right behind the house. They’d fly over the house’s picnic table and hot tub each time they went hunting in the bay. We probably watched them grab 200 fish from the water, and then they’d fly 20 feet above our heads back to their nest — close enough that we could see fish scales and individual feathers.

We spent the trip watching eagles hunt and seals swim, going in and out of the hot tub, reading in the living room overlooking the bay, and tide-pooling. At low tide, the bay empties — leaving behind crystal clear pools and rivulets in the soft sand that warm quickly in the sun. We explored the tide pools every day. They’re full of crabs and jellyfish. At one point, we walked out onto the sandbar, and the family of eagles snatched fish out of the water just feet from us. When you walk out on the sandbar, you get this surprising view of Mount Rainier — looming gigantic against the sky — with Seattle’s skyline silhouetted perfectly in front of it. Sitting on that sandbar with my feet in the water, looking at that view, watching eagles hunt, and seeing sailboats pass through the water was the most quintessential Northwest experience I’ve ever had.

Spacious house, great view! Our dogs also enjoyed there.

The location and view from the house was wonderful. Its very peaceful and pretty. However, I was assured in emails and texts that the house would be cleaned before I got there and that was not true. There were dirty dishes and food in the sink, crumbs on the counter and hair all over the floor and couches. The master bedroom sheets and blankets were in front of the washer. There were dirty diapers in the trash in the master. When I went to pull out dishes from the cupboard I found several dishes with crusted food on them. I also could not get the shower to work. And to confirm that no one had been by to clean between the last family staying there and me getting there, there was a nice note from the previous family on the stove. Pretty disappointed that I was told over and over that extra cleaning precautions were being done due to covid only to find that no cleaning had been done whatsoever.

Steps from the water and a great view of the sound. Off the beaten path so no distractions from your vacation. We got to enjoy watching the harbor seals. Herons and eagles from th h eff hottub. It was the perfect retreat away from the stresses of every day.

The view was beautiful.
