We love the town and being by the water. Also house is well equipped. Kitchen is stocked with plenty of pans, utensils and some spices. Has two kayaks, lots of books and puzzles.

Direct access to the Lake with kayaks on-site was great! So close to all that South Hero & Grand Isle have to offer, plus easy access to Burlington.

Location is incredible. The views are breathtaking and relaxing. The sunsets never disappointed.
The home is cozy but dark. Lot of supplies you would need on your stay. There's a helpful guide book there, also. There's not enough light inside in my opinion, despite using every light/lamp available. The furniture is dated and somewhat uncomfortable but usable for what time we were there. The flatware and dishes looked not so clean so we ended up having to wash what we used before using them.
While neat in appearance, there were so many cobwebs and spiders around the ceiling of this cottage. My husband ended up killing more than a dozen spiders and cleaning large cobwebs during our stay. Other places like behind the bathroom door and bedroom door, there were also large cobwebs. I realize we stayed in October and critters are wanting inside, but the cottage could use a good scrub of walls and dusting.
Outside, the grill wasn't as clean as it should have been so thankfully we brought our own to use. Under the house where the trash bin is was full of dirt, spiders, and cobwebs also. The covered porch had a lovely view but we didn't use it as the furniture needed a good scrub and removal of cobwebs and spiders. Overall, cute cottage but highly recommend a good deep cleaning and a thorough pest spraying from an exterminator inside and out.
Hi, Jacqueline! Thank you for staying with us and sharing your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay despite some issues. The home has been deep cleaned, and we have recommended pest control to the owner for next year. Housekeeping has been retrained. We hope to see you again!

Great secluded location. Open plan, homey and fully equipped cottage. View from kitchen window makes washing dishes a pleasure. Peaceful and serene.

Pros: good location, right on the banks of Lake Champlain. General area was quiet. Having the kayaks and life jackets was a plus. Well-equipped kitchen with lots of crockery, silverware, glasses and cooking equipment. Appreciated the supplies of toilet rolls, shampoo & conditioner, washing up liquid. Vacasa replied promptly when I emailed (from a cafe) to report that the wifi wasn't working and the space heater was out of gas; both issues were dealt with by the time we returned to the cottage that day.
Cons: wifi is supplied by a range extender, not a dedicated router so the signal kept dropping and I was constantly resetting the range extender. Poor cleaning of the cottage prior to our arrival - lots of cobwebs, areas of poor cleanliness, dirty crockery and silverware. Very dated and worn furnishings. Dark inside. No information guide for visitors so, for example, we didn't know where and when to put out the trash.
We greatly appreciate your feedback, Carole. The owner has been made aware of your comments and concerns so they can all be addressed. We hope to see you again!

Quite a nice place with great views. Located at the end of a nice back road off of the main route. Kitchen was well equipped, living room was cozy with lake views. Nice screened in porch where we had our breakfast and dinners together. The owner was polite and accommodating, allowing us access to his dock for fishing. We had assess to a grill (even had a spare tank if we needed it), 2 kayaks, and a canoe Great area, around 30 min to Burlington and about an hour and change to Montreal. Overall, I'd recommend this place if your looking for a quiet, but not too far removed vacation home!

Cottage on South Hero was clean, well stocked and down a quiet street. We only heard the birds in the morning as we drank our coffee on the screened porch over looking the lake. So very peaceful. The setting sun was the best part.. the lake became a mirror to the gorgeous sunset. Great restaurants.. Wallys sandwiches and bagels.. great. and Pans pizza. both are just a couple of blocks away.

We loved the area. We called Vacasa because we could not find kayaks, someone responded right away. The place needs a bit of updating.

So quiet at the end of the road! Lovely view of the lake. Super convenient for biking adventures in the islands, walkable to Blue Paddle Bistro, easy drive anywhere else. The kayaks and canoe were fun to have too!
We did not use the grill as it was not 100% appealing.
The wifi was on and off a bit but a quick replug of the router got it going again.
The kitchen was well stocked. All the appliances were clean and in good working order. The bathroom, small but very functional, plenty of towels.
A nice home away from home without the headaches of home!

Sweet little cottage with wonderful sounds of the birds, wind and water. Loved being able to take out a kayak every morning and paddle in the quiet of the morning. Home was well stocked in the kitchen and also with books, games and puzzles. Would definitely return to this special place.

We had a lovely experience in South Hero. The house was cozy and private and the lake was gorgeous. We loved having a place to crash after a long day of exploring! The cottage had everything we needed for everything from cooking to cleaning to relaxing with a movie!

perfect place to spend relaxing time on a lake doing fishing, kayaking , swimming or just watch sun rise and set over the lake. Grocery store is just around the corner so it is very convenient .

This home was wonderful to stay in. It's not fancy, but it's neat, clean, and the location is great. We were 25 min from Burlington so we were able to do activities there, rent bikes on the island, and even go to NY to check out the Ausable Chasm - a must see if you have kids! Great farm stands for cooking as well. I liked that the linens are provided.
In the end, the lake is the superstar here, you'll definitely need water shoes, but the water is clean and not too cold (in August).

We loved being right on the water, enjoying the sounds, sunsets and tranquility. Easy access to Burlington and area, and owner provided Kayaks all a big plus!

We were very happy with our stay in S. Hero. My husband was performing concerts in Burlington and the commute was very easy. The house is small but certainly not too small, especially for two people. You can't ask for a better view of the lake. I wish we had been able to kayak as access to the water was very easy.
I would recommend this place.
