Lakefront kid-friendly home with dock & swing in great location - dog-friendly

Enjoy a quintessential glimpse of Maine at this three-bedroom Poland family home! It's a dog-friendly lakefront retreat with a gorgeous location on Upper Range Pond, a private dock, close proximity to forests and state parks, and an abundance of child-friendly amenities to make you feel right at home.

Scenically situated on the western shores of Upper Range Pond, this charming three-level home is the perfect place for summer vacationers and fall foliage enthusiasts. You'll be just six miles from Range Pond State Park, 17 miles from Sebago Lake State Park, 16 miles southwest of Lewiston, and 29 miles north of bustling downtown Portland.

Located just a few miles from the original source of Poland Spring Water, this updated home is all about life on the lake. Step inside to find hardwood floors, plush seating, and large windows that frame views of the pond. Curl up on the sofa with a good book, use the WiFi to post a few photos, and spend the evening watching movies on the flatscreen cable TV and DVD/Blu-ray players.

Prepare pancakes and eggs each morning in the beautifully equipped kitchen, which offers stainless steel appliances, a dishwasher, and a gas range. Grind your own coffee beans, help your kids crack eggs at the two-person bar counter, and pull up the high chair and booster seat as you sit down at the table for four.

Spend your days lounging in Adirondack chairs on your private waterfront property, pushing your children on the tree swing, or launching the home's two kayaks from the private dock to fish for perch and rainbow trout. Back on dry land, use the gas grill to make a feast from your fresh catch. Roast marshmallows over the firepit.

At night, this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home will accommodate as many as eight guests (and three dogs, for a small nightly fee). The master bedroom has lofty ceilings, a lovely wall of exposed wood, and a queen-size platform bed, while the guest bedroom offers a full-size bed. The kids' room has a pair of twin beds and windows that frame the treetops.

The downstairs family room features a futon for additional sleeping space, but it's also a wonderful spot to watch TV, play with the provided games and toys, and open the patio doors to let in the summer breeze. Other family-friendly amenities include a private washer/dryer and baby gates to give you peace of mind.

Thanks to its gorgeous woodlands, pristine ponds, and convenient location from Portland and Lewiston, Poland offers an iconic glimpse of summertime in Maine. You'll have the 391-acre Upper Range Pond right outside your door, while the Poland Spring Golf Course - the oldest resort golf course in the country where Babe Ruth and President William Howard Taft once played - is just five miles east.

Drive a few miles to reach Range Pond State Park, which has a wide sandy beach and a public boat launch on Lower Range Pond. There are hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing trails in the area, as well as plentiful fishing and ice fishing. Or, spend the day exploring Maine's deepest lake at Sebago Lake State Park, one of the state's five original parks that features 1,400 acres of woodlands, beaches, and wildlife.

Come and experience the summer magic of Maine - book your stay at this Poland home today!

Lovely lakeside home with exceptional outdoor space - big fan of the shoreside swing! Inside is comfortable, with everything that is needed. A great getaway.

This was the second time my family rented this house. We love the two docks and grill to hang outside. The upstairs is very comfortable and plenty of space for us. They upgraded the dryer from last time so washing stuff was very convenient. I love how we could cook in or get some takeout from a couple nearby restaurants. I really love this place and hope to make it a yearly tradition to visit. The pond it's on is just wonderful for swimming and other fun water activities!

A peaceful, beautiful piece of property! Perfect for kids and adults alike. So convenient for swimming, fishing, and kayaking! Overall, house was well stocked and comfortable. We wish we could’ve stayed longer.
David M. Jul 2022
The location, house and amenities are near perfect. It’s way nicer than simply a cottage but could use some tlc here and there to push it up to the next level. Overall we loved it and would definitely consider booking it again.

The house and the property are a dream. The house is on a property with direct access to the lake and two jetties of its own. There is kayaking, motor boating and excellent fishing on the lake.
Fishing is also great from your own jetty. There is a boat ramp about 10 minutes away for launching boats.
The house is clean and nothing is missing! You can relax and completely switch off from everyday life. We already miss it a lot and will definitely be back.

Great location and plenty of space (2 adults and 6 kids). We will definitely be back!

We stayed here for a week and we loved it. The wooden deck/porch is completely gone but we knew that already. There were some clear signs of wear inside the house and some dusty areas here and there but we still always felt comfortable. I think the only actual concern we had was the neighboring homes were so close to the rental it felt a little uncomfortable at times. We kept wishing there was a fence or some better separation on one side but that didn't stop us from enjoying the area. Besides that, the home was great, the two docks were great for swimming and fishing, the swing was super cool, the little beach area was great for the dogs, and the view around the lake was magical. The kayak was so much fun to take out on the water. The lakefront aspect of this listing was truly worth the price.
Manager response:
Hello Jaime, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. We passed your comments along to our local manager to review and we appreciate guest’s preferences as a means to continually improve. We look forward to hosting your next stay!

The outside area was perfect for what we were looking for. The sandy beach and shaded yard were great for the kids and also had a dock for further swimming and tying up the boat. It's not the biggest living room area, but that was really only noticeable the days it rained all day. It was clean and accurate to the photos, other than the porch which is no longer there.
Laura G. Oct 2020
Close enough to visit Portland or Freeport for a day trip! House is nice and tucked away in the woods but there are still neighbors close by. Perfect for us. Firepit, dock, lake view are great
Stephen P. Jul 2020
The property is perfect for everything outside. Love the dock, the swing and the fire pit.
Luke C. Jun 2020
House is large, clean, and modern with a great location on a beautiful and serene lake. Very family and dog friendly. Neighbors are a bit close, but the fire pit is on a promontory that gives you some privacy. There are also two docks and a small beach area. Only downsides are that we lost power four separate times (twice for over an hour) and the internet only worked one of the seven days we were there (they sent someone to fix it, but it only worked for about 24 hours before cutting out again).

The Retreat at Upper Range was the perfect spot for our family gathering. It was big enough to accommodate all 6 of us but had that cozy “camp” feeling. The House was well equipped and both grown ups and kids enjoyed the games. The location is perfect - right on the large pond which worked well for AM walks with the dogs. A lovely experience!
Demetria D. Aug 2019
We had a lovely time, everything was clean and very dog friendly. The kids had a blast with the kayak, swing and fire pit.

The outside space was a vacationers dream! We loved kayaking, swimming and fishing in the beautiful clear water. There was also ample space for everyone to have fun-card games, puzzles, to movie night.
KAthleen S. Jun 2019
Great outside activities! A place for dogs to run around on a lead. Fun water toys: kayak, inner tube and a platform to swim to. Shaded area most of the day!
Mary M. May 2019
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. The windows in the living room displayed a wonderful view of the lake. The house and yard were nicely maintained. I would recommend staying here.
michelle s. Apr 2019
This wasn’t the perfect place it was everything I was looking for our visit with the grandsons. It was clean and had everything you could need to enjoy your stay. Plenty of things for kids to do. Will definitely stay again

We stayed here for business. He house was very nice.
Jacqueline L. Aug 2018
We loved our time here. It was exactly what we were looking for! Unfortunately though, we didn't want to overpack, so we didn't bring a few basic supplies because the preparation email stated they had it, and we were bummed to find there was no paper towels, and no dishwashing soap. Also, the ice maker wasn't working, the fridge didn't work well to keep everything cold, and there were a lot of fruit flies when we arrived.
This didn't ruin our time and the nice location and comfort was spot on!
Manager response:
We appreciate this feedback. We are very happy to see our guest enjoyed the home though terribly sorry the amenities that were supposed to be provided were not left in the home. In the future, if there are ever any missing items, guests can call us right away, and we will be sure to take care of your needs immediately. We have inspected the issues mentioned, and we found the coldness setting had been set too low in both the freezer and the fridge. We have since raised the coldness level so it is in good working order! Concerning the fruit flies, during inspection we did not find any but, we have provided the home with chemical free traps to prevent fruit fly issues in the future. Thanks!

We booked the house for a four night stay while we had family visiting from Virginia. The house was able to accommodate all of us and we spent a lot of time enjoying the water. My four year old nephew caught his first ever fish right of the dock. The home is equipped with every thing one needs to entertain a large group.
Barbara L. Jul 2018
The Lake, the house, the walks, the nice neighbors, what a beautiful time to spend with family. Thank you.
Londa D. Jun 2018
The house was very comfortable and spacious. The view of Upper Range Pond was gorgeous. The provided kayak was a fun way to see more around the large pond.
Jess B. Aug 2017
We had a wonderful stay at The Retreat at Upper Range Pond. The house was just as pictured and described. The house was clean and nicely furnished and the outdoor fire pit and chairs on the water can't be beat! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Jennifer R. Jul 2017
we stayed here for a few nights while visiting our children in Naples, ME. The house is on a lovely, quiet and peaceful lake. Awesome that we were able to bring our dog and the house was clean and had nice view of the lake from many rooms.
Mark P. Jul 2017

Claire T. Jul 2017

The house was beautiful, spacious, clean, and well stocked. Also, was right next to the lake with a dock and lots of chairs to sit and enjoy the view. Vacasa was great about giving all the necessary information. Would definitely stay here again.
