The location, minutes from Cherokee, Bryson City and the Great Smokey National Park is ideal.
The setting is like a fairy land, with a waterfall and rapids just yards from the deck. Truly spectacular!
The only problem was the v-e-r-y s-l-o-w Internet. Seriously, download speeds just under 1 Mbps; upload 0.35 Mbps. This is about the speed of dial up Internet from a generation ago. I brought our Apple TV, hoping we might be able to live stream movies. Not a chance. At 8:23 AM the morning of our check out the rental agent sent a link to check out. The internet was so spotty that I didn't receive it until we had checked into our next venue, which had much faster internet.
You might ask, “If you’re in a pristine location, close to so many outdoor activities, why would Internet speed be a big deal?” Well, my wife and I are in our mid-70’s. We just like to escape the dog days of Florida summers and head for the mountains. Aside from a few sight-seeing adventures, we enjoy activities which are pretty much the same as our routines back home, many of which require high speed Internet access (e.g. minimum download speeds of 25 Mbps).
Aside from that one complaint, we would certainly return. The venue is clean and very comfortable. Welcome touches included a bundle of firewood for the firepit that is a few feet from the aforementioned waterfall, pool and ping-pong tables, a large screen TV and a reasonably well-equipped kitchen.
We left a list of suggested, minor improvement to the owners. We enjoyed a wonderful week in the mountains, particularly being lulled to sleep, listening to the waterfall, with temperatures that welcomed open windows in August.
Tip: when instructions suggest that entry instructions be printed prior to attempting to enter the key code, take note! We neglected to take this advice and had to drive down to where we could access a Verizon cell signal to get the instructions.

My wife and I loved the location, the sound of the falls, and the cleanliness and spacious house. We were always happy to come home after being out and even chose to stay in a couple of our days on purpose. We grilled and had dinner on the deck and enjoyed the fire pit a few evenings. It was a quite refreshing week for us and we hope to be able to experience it again. Thanks for everything.

We loved our stay in this property. The house was lovely & well maintained. The yard is amazing...we went to sleep to the waterfall every night, enjoyed the deck & the wildlife. We walked all the small towns nearby & road the train in Bryson City. Very nice, relaxing trip.

Beautiful home, property, stream and waterfall —It far exceeded my expectations. We will be back again. This is a treasure.

I love the location, near all eastern portals to the Smokies. I love the falls behind the house, the porch with swing overlooking the falls, the lovely house itself with well-equipped kitchen, and the garage with a ping pong table for fun after dinner. I'd move in tomorrow if I could. I'll be back.

We loved the beautiful view and sounds of the waterfall! This was a lovely stay for us and our young kids. The hosts were so thoughtful to provide a well- equipped kitchen, game room, and even all the firewood we needed for a marshmallow roast by the fire pit every night. Read some books in the tranquility of the porch swing, took nice day trips to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Cherokee, and Nantahala. We love the convenience of washer/dryer and dishwasher when traveling with kiddos.

The pictures of Tranquility Falls don't really do it justice. The Falls are absolutely beautiful, and the creek continues rushing across the back yard. The swing right outside the dining room door is a wonderful place to sit with wine and snacks and think about the wonderful day you've just had in the mountains. There is NO HOT TUB noise interfering with the natural sounds of rushing water and birdsong.
We loved the house, too. It is exactly the right size for a couple or a small family. The kitchen is well equipped (with the possible exception of the toaster oven, which was hard to deal with), the master bed and bath are absolutely luxurious AND overlook the falls. The one thing we didn't like was the purple-tinted bright light that shone in the windows all night. We couldn't sleep with blinds open to see first light; it was hard to make the room as dark as we wanted even with blinds closed. However, that minor detail won't keep us from coming back when we can.
One more thing we loved was the ping pong table in the garage. We played after dinner most nights. If we'd had a rainy day and hadn't been able to hike in the GSMNP every day we were there, we might have played during the day.
Tranquility Falls was our favorite place to stay in the mountains so far. The house and surroundings are beautiful, it's easy to get to, and it is convenient to the main attraction in Western North Carolina, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

We enjoyed our stay. It was nice to see and listen to the water fall. We did not stay outside very long because the weather was not warm enough. The house was well furnished. The only problem we had was getting a DVD to play.

This property is exactly what you are looking for to get the true feeling of peace and sirene. I was only here for a few days and It felt like I was here a long time than I actually was. Even though it rained one day but the waterfall in the backyard was a true help. It truly helped you fall asleep. You are only minutes from downtown Whittier. You can also take a tour of the Cherokee reserve. If you have a chance to visit the Cherokee Harrah casino, Cherokee Indian Reservation (very informative), you are not far from Dollywood in Tennesee (1.5 hours). Be very careful if you have never been to the mountains. The roads are very snake-like so please take your time do not be in a rush (go under the speed limit if need be to be secure). Also, chew on gum when going that far up if you have never been.

Great location, easy rides to Bryson City. Cherokee, Maggie Valley, and Gatlinburg. Dined locally shopped Food Lion & Ingles to make Chicken n Dumplings one night and homemade Sausage and Angel Hair while watching the Creek and the Fireplace. Very Comfortable and Relaxing. We snow tubed in Maggie Valley, dined in Gatlinburg (Ol Red) shopped in Bryson City (& dined) saw the Elk at dusk in Cherokee. Fun trip with a great home base. Tranquility Falls delivered!

We absolutely loved this beautiful place! It was everything we were looking for plus so much more!
We arrived to the lush green landscape and water falls then on Christmas Eve, Tranquility Falls turned into a Sparkling Frozen & Snow White Winter Wonderland!
We will be back... thank you !

The place looked like the pictures on the website showed in Vacasa's website. It was beautiful and relaxing. There were a few damages dome before my stay and I felt I needed to inform Vacasa, which I did.. The cleaning ladies I talked to were really sweet and helpfull. The cleaning was great except for the spots on the rug.. Ove all it was a really nice trip.. I will do this again in the future.

The location was great. The views were amazing!

This home was better than imagined. Pictures do not do this place justice. Everything was great. Nice quiet and off the beaten path. The creek behind the house just adds more beauty to this location. Would recommend this home to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Great place to relax and unwind.

Peaceful solitude in the beauty of nature.
Dan and Vicki M.Sep 2020
Tranquility Falls is situated on a lovely creek that provides great white noise. The master bedroom, upstairs and with a king bed, is a nice size with an en-suite bath. There is a daybed outside of the master suite. The downstairs bedroom with a queen bed is small, and the bathroom next to it is also accessed from the hallway. The kitchen is roomy but short on cabinet space. Most kitchen supplies (pots, etc.) were available, although there were no dish towels. The living spaces are roomy and comfortable. There is a deck with a swing and rocking chairs along with a bar table and four chairs. The deck overlooks the back yard, where the creek can be seen and heard. There is a fire pit with plastic Adirondack chairs bolted down.
We enjoyed hiking in the areas around Whittier. There is nowhere to hike on or near the property itself, but there are really good hikes available within an hour’s drive.
Linens are provided, but we only received two bath towels, two washcloths, and one hand towel per bathroom. These could use refreshing as they were stained and grayed.
There is WiFi, but it is provided via DSL so is completely unreliable. The router is located in the master bedroom, so it is very difficult to get connected from anywhere else in the house. We had to restart it several times a day.
When we arrived, the air return was filthy, so we took it upon ourselves to vacuum it and to replace the filter. Several of the fans needed to be cleaned. The water in the master bath was slow to drain; one of the plumbers who came to fix the toilet (see below) said that he removed a huge glob of hair from it. We had significant issues with the dishwasher and the upstairs toilet. The dishwasher did not drain at all; we initially contacted Vacasa, and it took another 10 days for them to finally resolve the issue by replacing the dishwasher since ordered parts apparently never came in. While that was going on, the toilet in the master bath flooded the bathroom. Thankfully, it flooded from the tank. It took three visits from the plumbers and two more floods before they replaced the toilet. Thankfully, we received extra towels during one of the initial visits so that we could clean up each time.
The staff were responsive with each issue, but we were very frustrated with the length of time that it took to resolve the issues. Given reviews of other Vacasa properties, we are concerned that Vacasa doesn’t provide its staff with adequate resources to deal with their rental facilities. We do not plan to rent with them again. We did ask for and received a partial refund for the problems that we experienced during our stay.
Dan and Vicki, we apologize for the service issues that impacted your visit and we appreciate you allowing us to refund you for the inconvenience. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and concerns with us directly following your stay in order for us to address the areas in need of attention throughout the home. We will work closely with our local team to ensure these items are fully corrected for future guests, and we hope for another opportunity to provide you with an exceptional vacation experience!

The home was clean, well maintained, and lovely. The open floor plan and high ceilings in the family areas added to the feel of spaciousness. The master suite was very generous in size. Our favorite part was the wrap around porch and waterfall. Pictures do not adequately reflect how gorgeous the waterfall in the back yard is. We will be coming back next year!
Keith C.Aug 2020
The Cabin was neat clean and well organized. Sitting on the porch overlooking the falls was a wonderful experience! We sat out in the mornings and evenings listening to the water and enjoyed the peaceful sound of the falling water tremendously!
The only issues with the property were the WIFI internet was not dependable and the pool table was not level. Overall this is by far the best property i have stay at to date!
Matthew B.Jul 2020
We will definitely be returning. So perfectly and beautiful. Noys had a great time. About 20 minutes from anything you want to enjoy in natural and Bryson City.
Michael W.Jul 2020
We loved our stay at Tranquillity Falls!!!! The falls in the yard are the most relaxing thing to have, just listening to them puts a person at ease and really recharges the batteries :) There is nothing like breakfast in the porch, listening to the falls, enjoying the peace and quiet. this is truly a magical place!!!!
Patty F.Jul 2020
The photos don’t show how wonderful the creek is. The property has several places to get near the creek where you can sit in the shade and enjoy the cool rushing water. The WiFi could be better and the upstairs bedroom really needs blackout shades to cancel the street light in the back yard.
Angel P.Jun 2020
This home is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. In the home, you can tell they thought about needs guess might have forgotten. Such as... there was dish soap, coffee filters, paper towel, even sticks for s’mores. The home was clean and the decor was cute and cozy. We weren’t able to use the pool table because it’s not level but the ping pong table was fun.
Anyone renting this place will not be disappointed.
Angela S.Jun 2020
I loved everything about the property. The waterfall in back yard was very tranquil. The sound drowned the rest of the world out. The location was great. I have already booked another stay in October. The house was very clean. Nothing at all was disappointing. The power went out for a while but I hardly noticed. The house was well equipped with anything you might need. The hardest thing about the trip is leaving.
Vicky D.Jun 2020
The home is perfect, on the most perfect lot. Ideal to just be there and relax. Could not ask for anything more.
Reda C.Mar 2020
Tranquility Falls is exactly the perfect name for this vacation home. Peaceful and quiet!
Christi D.Mar 2020
This house is lovely, from the waterfalls to the interior. We had everything we needed and it was close to Bryson City and Cherokee. We were very happy it did not have a crazy, super steep drive to the house as is usually the case in mountain homes/cabins. The only complaint we had was the extra firm beds, but that would not keep us from returning! Great house!!
Misty S.Jan 2020
Everything about this house/property is amazing! We didn’t want to leave the comfort of the home or the beauty of the grounds.
Matt E.Dec 2019
Great place to stay, no complaints at all. Loved the river in the back yard.
Lynn G.Oct 2019
Tranquility falls made for an amazing weekend getaway. The pictures do not do this place justice. Everything was perfect. The only issue we had was all the propane tanks were empty and we had to run up to Dollar General and make an exchange. Other than that it was just what the Dr ordered. A nice relaxing weekend surrounded by nature and the sites and sounds of the backyard falls. The pitch swing was by far my favorite spot to take it all in. The gas fire place was nice and cozy and the game room made for some friendly competition. We would love to come back with the family.
Joyce E.Oct 2019
Beautiful place and relaxing atmosphere. Which we could have stayed for the whole time but had to leave a day early for family reasons. Will definitely like to go back for a future vacation.
Sharon C.Aug 2019
This home was absolutely amazing. The waterfall in the backyard was so relaxing and beautiful. Everything was perfect!
Gary O.Aug 2019
We loved the ease of access and central location in relation to Cherokee/Bryson, Dillsboro/Sylva/Webster, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Pisgah and Nantahala national forests. While the Whittier exit is a little funky (you'll go in a circle through town off the exit), the drive to the house is completely paved except for last 1000 feet or so. We've stayed at mountain homes in the area and the drives were a bit more adventurous. This was a piece of cake.
Because of the ease of access, Tranquility Falls makes a pretty nice base camp for a small family (3-4 people) or two couples. The highlight of course is the series of cascades in the backyard. The house is setup to view the creek from every room including the kitchen, dinning room, and deck. About the only thing missing from this rental is a hot tub, but a few of the larger cascade pools make for nice soaking tubs (especially so since the heat index was pushing 100 during our stay).
If I had to nitpick, I would says that the upstairs AC wall unit is a bit on the loud side (enough to cancel out the sounds of the falls), and there is a solar-lighted utility pole that throws a lot of light into the master suite (it's a bit like Alaska's "Midnight Sun"). If you like your bedroom completely dark, this might not be the rental for you. I worked around the issue by wearing a sleep mask. As for the upstairs AC unit, this wouldn't be an issue during cooler nights/months (again... Highs pushing 100 and lows only went down to about 75 at night during our visit... so, it was hot!!!). I did not dock any points from rating due to these little issues (since you can't control the weather). It's a nice house, and Vacasa had it clean for arrival. We will back to the area for sure.

What a beautiful and vert quite place in the middle of Smoky Mountains. If you want to relax and really enjoy your vacation, this is the place. We enjoyed every minute here and would live to come back next year.
James B.Jul 2019
Everything you want in a vacation home. More modern than traditional cabins with woodsy themes (which isn’t bad) location between Bryson City and Cherokee is perfect. Very large well maintained yard. It was very clean, everything worked as it should. Beds were firm and comfy. The waterfall stream in your backyard.. WOW!!! I spent hours by it daily. Made the trip worth every penny.. which was quite affordable. Well be back next year for sure
Mike J.Jul 2019
I was so happy with our cabin! it was clean, well maintained and just relaxing. i was very impressed. booking was super easy. i booked for my brothers birthday weekend and he was so so happy and enjoyed every minute. thank you so much!

Close proximity of beautiful water fall - can view from nearly every room in the home! Well-appointed home. Lovely!
Linda A.Jun 2019
My daughter and I went there to read, relax and bond. That is exactly what we did. The TV was never turned on. The place has all that you need for a great getaway. The beds were not memory foam we were both use to but we were fine. Our feet in the creek, love and laughter fpund here.
Steve D.Jun 2019
Wonderful house and beautiful setting!
Douglas R.Jun 2019
I enjoyed my coffee by the falls on the rocks. My hammock beside the creek was the ideal place for afternoon naps. The fire pit was the perfect thing to take the chill from the evening air. The wife really enjoyed the swing on the deck but the creek kept calling me near with it's soothing sounds. We'll be back for sure.
Dylan S.Jun 2019
The house was very nice. Loved listening to the waterfall.
Rose and Charles B.May 2019
Everything was very nice! Loved sitting in the swing watching the cascading water from the waterfall and listening to the sounds! It was a very serene and relaxing place to be!
Michael W.May 2019
We’ve stayed here several time and loved each one. It’s the best of everything: small enough and remote enough to feel like a cabin in the mountains while large enough and modern enough to feel like “home”.
