This was the first time we stayed in Eastham and the location couldn't be better - small association beach within walking distance, with First Encounter Beach (Bay side) and National Seashore Beaches (Atlantic side) a short drive away. We saw some absolutely beautiful sunsets and sunrises! Also we were a little more than half-way on the Cape so it was a relatively short drive to P-Town, to Orleans or Chatham, or the towns on the Upper Cape.
The house was relatively comfortable and clean, and the kitchen was very bright with new appliances; we also made good use of the washer and dryer during our stay.
However, some attention paid to details would've led to an overall higher rating. We had to purchase kitchen towels, a tea kettle, a small silverware caddy (with 5 pieces each for 4 people), a small dish-drying rack, and oven mitts at the local Christmas Tree Shop - there was not enough silverware for a 4-bedroom house (and no tablespoons to be found), the oven mitts we found were covered in grease and unusable, and there were no kitchen towels no dish-drying rack. All of these items were left behind for use by future guests.
We did not use the fire pit nor the outside grill - the former looked like a rusty basket and the latter looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. We also had to be careful walking from the living room to the master bedroom, the flooring in the hallway was somewhat warped in places and we were concerned about tripping or one of our feet going through the floor.
It would be extremely helpful to have a guest "reference book" in the house which would include some basics including (1) phone numbers for local fire, police, etc., (2) info on garbage pickup (we had to contact Vacasa to organize a mid-stay pickup for our 2-week stay), (3) info on using the living room thermostat, (4) info on using the t.v. and how to get Netflix (we couldn't get the bedroom t.v. to work, and despite Netflix being advertised as a feature we were unable to access it), and (4) information on local attractions and restaurants (including menus).
We have rented on the Cape for over 20 years and this was the first house that we were disappointed in. I sent Vacasa a detailed email about some of the "issues" we found at the house a few days into our stay, and although Vacasa informed me that a ticket had been issued to the local property manager concerning my email, I never got a response from the property manager. Another Vacasa contact told me she'd also reached out to the property manager but was unsuccessful in getting a response. I'd like to give the property manager the benefit of the doubt and hope all is okay, but we were disappointed in not getting a response.
Manager response:
Hi, Marie! Thank you so much for letting us know about your experience. We are purchasing a new set of spoons, washed the oven mitts, and ensured the kitchen towel and dish rack are available for guest use. The fire pit does indeed look rusty, so we are discussing replacement with the homeowner as well as the flooring. The grill is in good condition. We do hope you'll consider returning in the future!

Loved that you could walk to the beach and so close to restaurants and the Atlantic beaches.

The location was great ~ close to Rt 6, and the access to the private beach with such amazing sunsets!! The quietness within the house with the four bedrooms! Two bathrooms and best of all, the outdoor shower!! A wonderful beach rental. Bring extra cutlery if you have more than seven people. I always bring a griddle and my own frying pan, which worked out well. And we brought a CD radio also. We really enjoyed our week's stay! :)

The home is in a great location in close proximity to Atlantic side and a quarter mile walk to the bay. It did have it's shortcomings but I am marking that up as it being before peak season. I would hope they were cared for before then
