Portland, Ore., Oct. 3, 2016 – Today, Vacasa, the leading technology-enabled vacation rental management company, announces that it will offer its 4,000+ homeowners new VR support to expand its existing Matterport Spaces technology. The virtual reality support offering, powered by Matterport CoreVR, creates the fastest, easiest, and least expensive end-to-end system for delivering a VR experience of a real-world place. With the adoption of CoreVR, Vacasa will offer both a 3D and VR experience for all Matterport Spaces it supports.
“With the addition of Matterport CoreVR, our customers are able to experience any of our unique vacation homes across the U.S., said Eric Breon, Founder & CEO, Vacasa. “We continue to be impressed with the simplicity and affordability in which we'll be able to offer not only a 3D experience but also one in VR with just one scan of the Matterport 3D Pro Camera.”
“Companies like Vacasa that adopt Matterport CoreVR are on the cutting edge of providing a more immersive, real world experience of visiting places using VR,” said Bill Brown, CEO of Matterport. “We’re excited for Vacasa to contribute to the largest library of VR spaces in the world and to see what they create with Matterport CoreVR.”
Vacasa began offering Matterport Spaces earlier this year, and offers the technology to all of its homeowners at no additional cost to them. The partnership aims to bring additional transparency to the booking process, providing customers with immersive 3D views of every property in the Vacasa portfolio. With the addition of CoreVR technology, Vacasa is enabled to expand that offering.
Matterport has quickly established itself as leader in immersive media with its Pro 3D camera and cloud service, hosting the largest collection of 3D versions of real-world places on the market. CoreVR makes this library immediately available to everyone in VR, and offers an easy and highly scalable way to capture more real-world VR content. CoreVR is available on Samsung’s GearVR and on the Android for Google Cardboard.
