Charming dog-friendly Craftsman w/wood stove; near park & Gearhart!

With three bedrooms and room for six, this beautiful three-bedroom Gearhart vacation rental home combines Craftsman character with modern features in a happy marriage of elegance, efficiency, and proximity to charming little Gearhart - one of the best-kept secrets of Oregon's northern coast!

The atmosphere of this lovely period home is preserved with touches like a claw foot tub, gleaming hardwood floors, and faux (gas) wood-stove and wood fireplace. And, you'll have many of the amenities of home, like a CD player, and DVD player. One dog (65 pounds and under) is welcome too, for an additional nightly pet fee.

The living area is a bright, open space, made larger by a pitched ceiling punctuated with skylights that flood the room with sunlight. Watch it dance on the beautiful hardwood floor! Make yourselves some coffee and share tales of your day out on the whale-watching charter, or on the beach. If it's chilly, you can get a log fired up in the fireplace, or click on the quaint (gas) woodstove and warm up. Summer or winter, the overhead ceiling fan will keep the air - warm or cold - circulating. There's a DVD player, but you'll want to pack some of your own movies to watch. The big flatscreen TV has cable, but if you'd just like a simple diversion, why not pick a book from the library and read.

Stylishly remodeled, this is definitely not the original kitchen! Bright and roomy like the rest of the home, your chef(s) will appreciate the cooking control that comes with the modern, gas stove. There's a microwave, too, for snacks, warm-ups, and movie popcorn. Plenty of room in the big fridge for your cold stuff, and lots of cabinet space for your cooking supplies. Gather 'round the big table in the separate dining area when the meal's done. If you've got a movie to watch, put everyone to work with the dishes, made easier with the double sink and dishwasher. If it's a nice, sunny day, use it as an excuse for an old fashioned barbecue on the charcoal grill out back in the lush, landscaped backyard.

This charming home has three bedrooms, accessible via two separate staircases. One - right by the front entrance - leads to the main upper floor. At the top of this staircase, you'll be greeted by a small table with four comfy chairs: perfect for a game of cards before bed. Up here are two roomy bedrooms. White walls, more skylights, and bright colors make this a cheerful space. In one bedroom, you'll sleep on a double bed and enjoy your own TV for late night viewing. In the other bedroom are two twin beds and a big window with a view of the grounds.

Take the other staircase, and you'll come to the loft (which is actually above the garage). With its queen bed, TV, and full bath, you could call it the master suite, perfect for a couple who'd like a little more privacy. When the laundry starts piling up, take care of it in the utility room, where you'll find a washer and dryer.

There's fun for everyone - including pooch - at and around this Oregon Coast vacation rental! The dog will appreciate its private door to the big backyard, suitable for pups up to 45 pounds. You'll love it back there too: a gorgeous spot with an outdoor firepit so, on those clear nights, you can watch the stars by the fire's warmth.

There's so much to do in the Gearhart area! There's the beautiful, long beach, of course. Take a stroll at nearby Gearhart Ocean State Park or Del Ray State Recreation Site. Play a round of golf at Gearhart Golf Links (right nearby) or Highlands Golf Club, just seven minutes north. It's a short distance to charming shops, an old fashioned grocery, bakery, and a cafe in downtown Gearhart. Or, cross the bridge into Astoria (about 25 minutes north) where you can visit one of the waterfront bistros, casual fish houses, and a few highly regarded microbreweries. Make the 10-minute drive south to Seaside with its lovely aquarium, boardwalk, and souvenir shops.

Make Spruce Landing in scenic Gearhart your next getaway haven and enjoy its combination of luxury, convenience, and proximity to sites and activities on the Oregon Coast!

This beachbretreat has everything a group needs to escape and relax. From its proximity to the beach to it's great back yard and grill we thoroughly enjoyed our stay as did our dog. Don't miss out!

Nice private backyard and quiet street. Lots of room and close to everything.

Had everything we needed to have a great weekend.

Great house in a perfect off the beat path with plenty of room and amenities for everyone. Loved the separate master bedroom floor plan

We stayed in the house while visiting family in Gearhart and it had everything we needed. Layout was really convenient for two families as the rooms are split on ends of the house. Kitchen was well equipped and having laundry facilities helped.

The cushions on the couch were a little lopsided maybe an area rug in the TV room would be nice other than that everything was great .

One fourth of the house is remodeled the rest is charmingly rustic. It is such a great vacation area that you cant go wrong. And the house is very family friendly. We'll be back.

This home is very spacious and reminiscent of a vintage family home, located in a pristine beach community. It accommodates all amenities including quiet living room and family room spaces, perfect for both quiet time and social gatherings. Plenty of bathrooms to go around make for convenience. This double lot size is an amazing space for pets, bbq's and fire side hot dog roasts. Previous reviews indicated the deficiency in designer, 5 star quality provisions. But don't mistake this property for a dump. Sure there's some room for minor updates and such. But aren't there always? Not wise to expect an estate in the Hampton's...but DO expect to have an good ol' fashioned and relaxing stint at the beach!

This house is a great walking distance to the downtown Gearhart and the beach. You can hear the ocean at night from the master bedroom. The house was very clean and offered all the amenities needed.

We celebrated our granddaughters' 16th birthday. The house was very warm and cozy.

We travelled to Gearhart for its location, size of home, and it's price; well worth it. We could be together or branch off for privacy.

Great beach house, right outside of the hustle and bustle of Seaside. The beach is a short walk from the house. Our dog enjoyed the gas fireplace after a rainy day at the beach. Great place to stay!

The exterior of the home is exactly as is pictured, it is a sweet home on the outside and the original structure is very charming. Stairs leading to the original 2nd story are a bit scary but they are from that period. DEFINITELY not a safe home with toddlers, no railing to protect small children from falling from 2nd story or off of back decking onto bricks below.
Again, home is charming but cannot recommend without updates and improvements in beds and bedding.

This is a great house with lots of space and a wonderful fenced in backyard where our dog liked to hang out in the sunshine. We are definitely coming back!
Leah M. Aug 2016
The quiet and low-key Gearhart area was perfect for my quiet family. The walk to the beach from the house was a little longer than I expected, but we found lots of sand dollars when we got there. And, there are other nice beach access locations. The layout of the house is nice for a family trip. This, along with the reasonable price, made us feel great about not staying in a hotel for the weekend.

Home size and location were great but basic maintenance no being carried out. Burned out and missing light bulbs, broken furniture in back yard does not create a good image.
Manager response:
We are grateful for the opportunity to address the inconveniences this guest experienced; the Property Manager has replaced all burned out light bulbs, the broken furniture is scheduled to be picked up, and new outdoor furniture will be replacing it very soon.

Had a great time, great location. Beware of very steep stairs if you have someone staying with limited mobility. Our Beagle enjoyed the fenced back yard and we really liked the fire pit.
Michael G. Aug 2015
Really neat old home. Close enough to the beach. Quiet and tranquil. Big yard/s (fenced area for pets to be off-leash). BBQ w/briquettes. Wonderful place if people would keep after their pets. I would suggest NOT bringing your pet, if pet is not trained to go outside.

Very efficient booking, follow-up with on-line email communication.

This was our second stay with our family of 5, another friend and our 3 dogs at the Spruce Landing. This house is beautifully maintained, spacious, light and bright with a charming and warming gas fireplace, a stones through from a walking trail right to the beach where the majestic Pacific Ocean awaits you. The furnishings make you feel welcome and comfortable with the added bonus of a flat screen TV and DVD player to curl up with our kids and watch late night movies after frolicking in the surf, building sand castles, flying kites and roasting marshmallows. The Spruce Landing is such a fantastic place to stay that we plan our trips to Gearhart around the availability of this beach house. You will not be disappointed.

This is the first time I have rented a house vs staying in a hotel on a trip. It was an excellent experience and the service was very user friendly. If you have pets this is the only way to go. My sister, brother in law, girlfriend and dogs all had a great time! I grew up in the area but my parents place is too small to accommodate all the extra people so this was a great deal for everyone.
Erin G. Dec 2014
We had a wonderful stay with my parents from Pennsylvania! The home is charming and classic.
Benjamin P. Jul 2014
This is a great little house. It was plenty big for five adults and a kiddo. The outside garbage hadn't been emptied when we arrived and a critter had gotten into it, but the inside was very clean and tidy. It has plenty of living space for socializing, a spacious wood floor for a G-rated dance party and the fire pit is a fine addition. It rained throughout our entire trip, but we love liquid sunshine! The house is little far from Cannon Beach (15-20 minutes), but super close to Seaside. It was nice to be off the beaten path a bit. We'd go here again.
Manager response:
Thank you for your 5 star review of your stay. We are sorry to hear that the local critters got into the trash before it was picked up. We hope to always make a great first impression. It's great that this did not effect your enjoyment of this beautiful home.

the razor clamming was exceptional... only minutes for a limit and just a short walk down D st. Don't forget to check the tides and take your clam gun. Stop at the bakery for muffins and coffee on the walk home.
