It was a great home with access via a dirt road in which an suv is best to use. There is ac in the bedrooms. Unbeknownst to us, they allow 30kw per day only and charge more. They recommend using it in the bedrooms from 7pm to 7am only which we did. They also recommended temperature settings which we went warmer just in case. We went over the allotted amount in 3 days by 40kw. Since we did not know about the charge they waived the fee which we we grateful for. The kitchen is well stocked. There is lots of seating both in and outside the house. There is a hammock but if you got in it, your butt would be on the floor. The pool is small but it was perfect for us. We thought there was a dock but it is a community dock which ended up being fine. The entry into the ocean is a little treacherous on the property but access can be made through any other yard. We were not greeted but we went early to drop our bags off while the cleaning crew was there. Wifi is available and we used it to set up activities through their concierge service which worked well. Water is supplied but only 2 jugs which we did not know about until we were running out. The first jug we had was half full so we did not use 2 full jugs. Again since we didnt know we were given the 3rd jug. There are screens to help keep the bugs out. The no see'ums are out but that cant be helped anywhere on the island. Use bug spray! All in all it was a good house, nice neighbors and worked well for 5 girls

“Everything was above my expectations! Wonderful :)”

My husband and I brought our family to Roatan to check out the possibility of retiring there in the next few years. We found the home on Vacasa.com and loved how it looked. It was the perfect size and had the pool and was on the ocean. As we all know sometimes what you see is NOT what you get, but in this case it was everything we expected and much more ❤️ It is beautiful and in the perfect location, mid island and close to everything we needed but still remote enough to feel like you were on an island. My husband and I both agreed that the location was “magical”. We are already talking about going back later this year and renting this house again. It had everything we needed (including air conditioning in all 3 of the bedrooms). The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could ever need! We also had a fantastic experience with Vacasa. Both Christopher and Carolina took care of everything for us before and during our stay. We had an amazing time and we can’t wait to go back and have more amazing Roatan experiences!!

“The house is absolutely amazing with a wrap around deck, two gazebo-like areas and a small infinity pool. It is right on the ocean and you can sip your coffee and stare at the beautiful view. The house has everything you need to make your stay amazing. The new mini-split a/c units in the bedrooms are fantastic. It exceeded my expectations.”

We enjoyed everything about this home.

We lived on the deck! Infinity pool overlooking the ocean with the mainland mountains of Honduras in the far view. Loved the sounds of the waves crashing on the shoreline. Pool was just the right size for cooling off and lounging in. The kitchen was large and main living space was confortable.
Neighborhood was quiet and private.
The dirt road to the house off the main road was a
bit rough. Front wheel drive SUV or truck recommended. Scenery was lovely on the way in.

It's an island...nothing ever goes as planned, things move a little slower...however even in the midst of this, we found comfort in the consistent service of our house managers! The home itself was clean and well appointed, not only did it meet our expectations based on the photos and descriptions, it exceeded them in many ways. Accessing the house may require a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We had a rental van, which made the trip, however in the future we would rent a truck.

Our vacation was perfect. We were able to dive, snorkel and fish while enjoying the beautiful house. Spent a lot of time in pool. Sleeping was uncomfortable at times because there is no AC but lots of fans are provided which made it better. Definitely rent a car and explore the island, it's beautiful. Kevin, Clair and Desiree were the perfect hosts and could answer all questions and provide any assistance needed (including getting a key after locking ourselves out!). Thank you for a lovely experience.

This is the second year we have stayed here. Would recommend to anyone who likes privacy and a great house. Great snorkeling and diving in front of house. Kevin and Claire were right there if you needed anything. Beautiful island, great house, and world class snorkeling and diving. Highly recommend!!!

This is my 2nd stay at Far Tortuga. Picture this: sitting on deck enjoying morning coffee, sunrise, and local fisherman out front fishing. This year we were joined by a pod of some 10-12 swimming mammals, locals say Dolphins or Pilot Whales. Unsure but I have the photo and hopefully I can get dorsal fin identified. Weather again was fantastic, and the property managers are very helpful with our requests. Roatan is a wonderful place to vacation and Far Tortuga has all the conveniences of home plus snorkelling or scuba diving right off the deck makes this the home away from home that fullfills all my needs. Amazing stay...

We spent 14 wonderful days at Far Tortuga. We were met at the airport by Clair, Kevin and Desiree who stayed behind the scenes looking after us throughout our stay. The house was perfect for our family as my brother and his wife, and our family had separate and private sleeping areas but could spend most of our time in the large, spacious living area overlooking the sea. The kitchen was fully equipped and we were able to make fabulous dinners with local seafood and fruits. The area and people around the house are warm and friendly and we always had a sense of safety. Snorkeling is available right outside the house or, for those less inclined to face the open ocean (like me), there is a beautiful calm bay to loll around on on the other side of the house. This is the perfect house for those who want a base from which to explore the island and who want to stay off the tourist/resort route.

We just returned from a 12 day stay at Far Tortuga. We have stayed many places in the Caribbean and this house ranks at the top of our list. Right from the arrival when we were met at the airport by Kevin, Claire and Desiree made us feel welcomed. We rented a 4x4 truck and Claire coordinated everything so that it was waiting upon arrival. Desiree was great showing us the local grocery store and then taking us to the house. The pictures do not this place justice, it is beautiful. It is exactly as stated and has a great vibe to it. Desiree gave great recommendations for dining out and some activities. The kitchen is well stocked with all that you would need. The weather was great and snorkeling is fantastic right out in front and off the dock. It was hard for us to leave the house to explore because it is so relaxing. It is off the beaten path and this makes for quiet stay. Thanks for sharing this house.

Our family of 5 enjoyed 8 nights in this house! it was well equipped and had everything you would need on vacation! The kitchen had every appliance/tool that you would need, even some I had not seen before! Though we only cooked dinner in the house 1 night, it was nice! The bedroom arrangement was great as we could put our kids (ages 17,12 & 9) on the west wing and we had the east wing! There was plenty of room! The Living room was roomy and would get a nice breeze going through the open doors. The master bedroom also had nice breezes and the sound of the ocean was awesome at night as it is right out your window! I would recommend you rent a 4x4 truck to get around on the island, it by far would be the most comfortable and safest to drive on the island. We loved the pool, the kids would spend hours in the pool every day, even after coming home at night from a long days activities! The wife and I would sit and watch the kids, lizards and humming birds while having a cocktail! The deck is mostly (90%?) shaded throughout the day, always a place to get out of the sun. We have rented several properties through VRBO in various locations in the USA, this one is true to the advertisement and Kevin and Claire the property managers were helpful with any questions we may have had.

The house was everything described in the description and more- clean, well maintained and in a beautiful secluded area. Once the ocean was calmer in front of the house, we were able to go out in the kayaks and enjoy. Some snorkeled right in the "backyard" and saw beautiful fish and coral. We had fresh fish/beef recommended from the Desiree (property management) cooked it up on the grill a couple of nights (dodging the bat population at the hummingbird feeders). :-) You will not be disappointed if you stay here.

We came to Far Tortuga with a teen and pre-teen, brother and sister-in-law, and mother. Plenty of space (Grandma shared the bunk room with kids). Super relaxing. Off the beaten path, quit, safe, yet with a rental car central enough to access the entire island. Fun restaurants with good food and views within 15 minute drive, plus nearby grocery store. Views spectacular – Southern Cross hanging over Central America every evening from the porch. Though it was a bit choppy while we were there, the snorkeling right out front was spectacular – near shore reef with amazing wall right out front. Dock with boats and with access to mangroves and the reef a bonus. Great hummingbirds and bats and good birding around the house and bight. Warren, local fisherman, delivered great fresh fish, and arranged adventuresome trip to see his quaint village on Santa Elana – true local’s experience. Could have spent entire time at house and on patio – so comfortable, beautiful and relaxing – what a vacation is supposed to be. Property Managers meeting us at the airport and helping us settle, plus being on call for household or recreational planning needs, made the arrival and stay very stress free and easy. Lovely country, easy place to visit.

We arrived in Roatan and the property managers met us at the airport. They helped with the rental car, taking us to a grocery store and escorting us to the house. What a beautiful house and setting. The house was well maintained, clean and well stocked. The pool was just gorgeous and you could watch the waves from the pool and deck. We checked out local restaurants, but because there was fresh seafood we cooked quite a bit at the house. What a treat!! I would highly recommend this house.
