Oceanfront home - secluded, yet close to town
This oceanfront home in Florence is the perfect choice for your next Oregon Coast getaway with family or friends. With a Ping-Pong and mini-pool table, and a large deck with sweeping ocean views, this home will give you a peaceful and enjoyable vacation.
This rental is located right on a quiet stretch of beach less than five miles north of downtown Florence, providing guests with ease and convenience. And it's one of two homes on this stretch of Kiwanda Street, so you'll be blessed with a lovely semi-private setting. To reach the sand, just head down the deck stairs to the beach!
The interior of this home is cozy, decorated in tasteful kitsch with wicker and floral print furnishings and window treatments. Sink into the sofa and catch a cable show or two on the flatscreen TV, or make a selection from the DVD library. And while you're at it, stay in touch with friends at home with free WiFi access.
When it's mealtime, the chefs in your group can get to work in the fully equipped kitchen. With tons of counter space, standard appliances, and a center work island that serves as a breakfast bar for three, meal prep and cleanup are made easy. Enjoy your meal together at the large dining table or savor a delicious barbecue dinner on the deck, which offers a gas grill, sea-salt-scented air, and stunning dune and ocean views - as well as easy access to the sands thanks to the stairs.
This home offers other bonuses, which will give you plenty of reasons to stick close to home. When the weather's nice, take the two available bikes out for a spin. Or if it's a day to stay inside, enjoy an impromptu Ping-Pong game in the garage.
When it's time for sleep, this three-bedroom (plus a loft), three-and-a-half-bath home accommodates up to nine guests. The first master bedroom boasts a king-size bed, an en suite bath with a pink soaking tub, and nice views. The second master bedroom also has a king-size bed, an en suite bath, and views. The third bedroom features two twin bunk beds and a mini-pool table, as well as its own en suite bath. All three bedrooms are upstairs, and the loft offers a day bed and serves as the pass-through to two of the bedrooms. The loft has an oceanfront balcony, perfect for lounging any time of day. There's a half-bath for freshening up, and the in-house washer/dryer allow you all to pack light.
Take a stroll to the sand and water and do some beachcombing, snap some photos, or just revel in the scenery. Stay in and choose some games to play, then treat yourself to a meal out in Florence after you've browsed the many shops. You might like to walk just up the road and have a meal at Driftwood Shores, or hop in the car and head to one of the two golf courses, check out the casino, or catch a show at the events center.
When you want to venture out farther, head to Heceta Head and tour the lighthouse for lovely views from the top. Hike the Hobbit Trail and spend some time at Darlingtonia State Natural Site. And be sure to check out the Sea Lion Caves.
Florence is a great destination any time of year, and your visit will be enhanced when you stay at this cozy and quaint beach house. The views are the best!!! Very clean, well supplied. We had a great time. We will share with friends and will be back. Thank you for sharing with us this great home.

Beautiful setting with easy access to the beach. Kitchen left a little to be desired, not enough glassware or utensils. No tools for using the BBQ either.

My family & I and our beloved friends rented this home for our weekend vacation, from 8/7/20 to 8/10/20 and we fully enjoyed our stay. We had an amazing time. Such a beautiful home, best location, quiet, has open space, so inviting, comfortable and relaxing. The bedrooms upstairs have amazing views of the ocean with private bathrooms and since it's so close you can actually hear the sound of the waves from the ocean. Our kids loved their bunkbeds. The living room, dining room and kitchen also have amazing views.
Overall, we love everything about the home, especially the views and the sounds of the waves from the ocean. We can't wait to go back there again. My family and I are already talking and planning to make it as our family tradition to take a vacation at least once or twice a year, and we only live an hour and 30 minutes away - from Eugene Oregon. We would love and highly recommend this to our family and friends!!! Thank you so very much,❤❤❤ Vacasa( Rascals Oceanfront Retreat)!😇😇😇 for making and creating amazing memories for my family especially for our kids!!!❤❤❤We are so blessed!!!😇😇😇

Pros: Gorgeous ocean view from all windows, abundant wildlife, easy beach access, great location, size of house (great for multiple couples/families), multiple bathrooms, and sense of privacy (house hidden from street).
Cons: The house is poorly maintained. The railing on the deck is unstable and the railing and some of the stairs leading to the beach are also unstable. Bring deck chairs because the furniture on the back deck is all wood and extremely uncomfortable (they do have two fold-out chairs available, but recommend bringing your own). The furniture in the living room is old and uncomfortable (with the exception of one recliner). The house is not ADA accessible and all of the bedrooms are located up a steep flight of stairs. The house is listed as being 1 of only 2 houses on Kiwanda. However, there are beach houses located close to each side of the house (which will limit privacy if those homes are occupied). The hot tub isn't worth using (it's in the garage). The grill is old and unusable (the propane tank was empty upon arrival). Limited cell service (which can be a pro for some and wifi does work).
Our biggest complaint was that the property management company (Vacasa) never returned phone calls, texts, or emails. So, if anything does need immediate attention, you're likely out of luck.
Reading the reviews, a lot of folk commented on the decor. Yes, it's somewhat odd, but the beauty of the outside makes up for it.
Overall, definitely worth staying, if nothing else for the views. Just wish some of the features were more user-friendly.

Loved the 360 ocean view
Private rooms with a bathroom in each and double door upstairs balcony. Nice place quiet and peaceful with a trail to the beach from the property.

My family and I fully enjoyed our stay at Rascals Oceanfront Retreat. Our only regret was that it wasn't long enough. The home is well laid out and comfortable. The view can't be beat!

Favorite part are all the windows facing the ocean on both levels. Each bedroom having its own bathroom is an extra benefit. Overall the house is very inviting and comfortable. Will stay again. Absolutely loved the Hobbit Trail to the beach.

Every year 8 women from the class of 75 take a week end at a beach house. We chose the Rascals House this year. It was a '10' hit with all the ladies. There were some women who got info on the house to reserve it for another time with there families. The weather was PERFECTION, we had the best house on the strip. ONE problem was the pellet stove did not work. Ya have to have a warm fire while watching the ocean.
Thank you for staying with us! The property manager and owner will be working on the pellet stove. We hope to see you again!

It was just perfect. Very kitschy but such a warm and homey feeling. The kitchen is awesome, the views from the upstairs bedrooms/living room/dining room were beyond our expectations, and the location was perfect. We have agreed that we will be hosting our 2020 Thanksgiving or Christmas here. We really can’t stop talking about it! Thank you!

Lots of space and amazing views. Private beach access was wonderful.
Dennis H.Aug 2019
Very cute, comfortable home with lots of room and a great location. It needs some maintenance, such as loose boards on the deck, but worked extremely well for mu family. I will definitely return.
Robert S.Jun 2019
The location is perfect, right on the beach, not too far from amenities. The home has an older decor but is incredibly charming and spacious with two master suites, a lower and upper deck, and everything you'll need for a short or long stay. I regret not booking more time there.
Ann B.Mar 2019
This is a truly beautiful home with amazing ocean views from every room even from relaxing in your very comfortable bed kitchen is well stocked everything about the place was perfect it would be great if they added a hot tub to the deck.
Andy D.Mar 2019
The house is in a great location with fantastic views.
Terrie M.Jan 2019
This charming home was right on the beach. It was clean and big but also warm and cozy. Great views from almost every window.
Wendy B.Oct 2018
The home was large and had an amazing view of the ocean. This is an older, kitschy home with lots of knick-knacks. It was a bit of a challenge with a toddler. The home is conveniently located and private feeling.
The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cookware, but there were no basics like cooking oil or spray, or any type of foil or plastic wrap for food storage.
Each bedroom had its own bath which was nice. One of the rooms had a very large tub but the hot water only lasted long enough to put a few inches of water in it which was disappointing. The lack of hot water was also a problem when it came to shower time after the beach as it would run out quickly and people would have to wait to shower. Also, there was only one towel provided per every guest which was difficult as we needed towels for the beach and for shower time.
Although the beach view was spectacular there was a little bit of a walk over sand dunes that could be challenging for an elderly person or someone with physical challenges.
The hot tub was also very small, no more than two people.
Despite the drawbacks my family really enjoyed the house and our weekend there.
Diana L.Sep 2018
The house was nice and was in good working order. Checking in and out was easy. The location was absolutely the best part!
Sarah M.Aug 2018
Plenty of room for 3 couples and a kid. The adults had to take turns on the bunk beds, as there are only 2 master suites. Everything was clean and in good shape, though.
The layout is great for everyone to get together, and for small groups to break apart and visit. The walk to the beach is somewhat more rigorous then expected from the photos.
Overall, very welcoming and comfy spot, would absolutely rent again.
Gina B.Jul 2018
We had a small family reunion which included 4 generations (ages 2-80) and the house accommodated us all with ease. We were also able to park our small travel trailer in the large parking area for extra sleeping space. The decorations are quirky and dated but clean and it was fun looking at all the old stuff. The hot tub was out of order but we survived since some of our group had rooms at Driftwood Shores and they were kind enough to let us all use their pool room. We were there during really windy days and the fog in front of the house was so thick you couldn’t even see the ocean but when we drove just a couple miles north or south it was sunny. Honeyman Park was wonderful! All in all it was a wonderful trip and the house is a very good rental in a convenient location.
Ben M.Jul 2018
We had a wonderful two week stay to enjoy walks on the beach, beautiful ocean views and amazing sunsets. The house was spacious, clean and the kitchen was well equipped to enjoy meals at home. However we found we enjoyed eating out at the many local eateries. The house is well located for day trips to locations such as Charleston Harbor (Shores Acres or Sunset Beach), Newport (aquarium), Depoe Bay (whale watching), etc. After a day of sightseeing a good book, a comfortable bed and the sounds of the surf made for a goodnights sleep. We would love to do it again.
Renee L.May 2018
This is a well appointed, well maintained home with easy beach access and view. Really enjoyed our weekend stay.
Todd B.Apr 2018
This home is right on the beach, and has some great amenities (ocean views, good WiFi, comfy beds, bunks for up to 4 kids, ping pong table). There's a hot tub in the garage, which ideally would be outside, but we're not really hot tub people so it didn't matter to us. I would definitely come back.
Rebekah J.Mar 2018
We stayed here with friends from Denmark. We saw whales spouting, porpoises leaping, waves roll in, and our kids leaping off of sand dunes - all from the kitchen counter while preparing meals, etc. Amazing! The rooms were beautiful and comfortable too and we slept to the sweet sounds of the waves crashing. The beach was so close that kids could come and go from the house as needed... or we could just sit on the porch and soak in the beach...or inside and still feel like we were right there if the sun disappeared. Thank you for making such a wonderful space to be and rest and make memories together! We hope to stay here again in the future. PS - the boys LOVED the snooker table and there was pretty much a constant game of Snooker or Ping Pong going on the entire time they were inside the house.
Lisa C.Feb 2018
We had a getaway weekend for 8 ladies and enjoyed this spot immensely! Plenty to do inside and out - easy access for wonderful walks on the beach, TV so we could cozy up and watch the Olympics, and short drives to hikes or town. Plenty of room for all of us. Spot is very quiet...except for the crashing of waves! In and out the garage was a great option for sandy walkers. We'd definitely stop here again!

Enjoyed are stay had great weather
Thea L.Dec 2017
The home is welcoming. It has lots of great spaces to relax, enjoy surf watching, and just relax. The games and family areas are nice. The big TV in the living room and the one bedroom is a plus. All the channels provide you an opportunity to enjoy a good movie when the sun goes down. the internet was a plus. We enjoyed the board games and puzzles.
The kitchen is nice and big with lots of room for cooking and sharing meals together.
We did a treasure hunt with all the decorations to find our favorite treasure. The house definitely has some love to share. The decor reminded us of a 1980's doll house but with lots of room to enjoy each other and space to relax alone.
A wonderful place to just hang, tell stories and create memories.
We will return.
Tess S.Nov 2017
This house was more than I expected, very open, a lot of seating, very big walk in closets in two of the rooms, also had two single fold out cots that we were not aware were there and sofa in living room is hide a bed. View from the windows is gorgeous, there was plenty of room for everybody in our party. It was a very nice feature to have bathrooms and showers attached to each Bedroom. We were able to get Two trucks one with 20' trailer and one with 24' up driveway and parked one would have to come in first and get turned around but worked out great, I know this was one of my main concerns when renting this house as we came to play at the dunes. Hopefully this will help with feature guests.

6 friends from kindergarten and I had a fabulous time at this wonderful home. The 3 bedrooms are very large, the beds and sitting areas are very comfortable and each bedroom
has its own private and spacious bathroom. The view of the Pacific is quite grand from 2 of the bedrooms, a sitting area and the kitchen. The home is well established with games, mini pool table and ping pong table.
The kitchen is a delight for cooks and non cooks alike with a breakfast bar and large dining area to keep all close. 7 of us stayed at the home but due to the house’s layout we were not “tripping” over each other. We had plenty of space to sit together or apart. The recliner and couch are quite comfortable while the secondary loveseat, chair and chaise are all wicker. They have cushions but, well, we definitely preferred the couch and recliner. There are steps, that go straight down and up a dune, from the deck to the dunes but we preferred the short drive/walk to the parking lot by the hotel for the beach access as 2 of my friends have sight issues and one has mobility issues. I highly recommend for families, friends or 2 couples with kids or 3 without. The Deck is fantastic and allowed for great views and a wonderful relaxation area. There is a private 2 person hot tub in the garage.

Right on the beach. Great house for a family vacation.
Rebecca M.Sep 2017
Management was very helpful. The alarm went off when we got there and we were helped promptly to turn it off. We loved the house and all of its character. Such a fun walk to the beach through a little section called the "hobbit trail".

What an awesome house and location. Traveling from Montana to stay here was beyond a dream come true. Thanks to the owners and Vacasa!
Susanne O.Sep 2017
The cottage was amazing with lots of space and fully equipped. Great beds and the house was so clean. The view was amazing!

Nice house poor cleaning
We sincerely apologize if housekeeping was not up to our standards for this reservation, and we will be sure to follow-up with housekeeping regarding the matter. Thank you!
Cindy K.Jul 2017
Beautiful ocean views from both downstairs and upstairs! House easily accommodated our 8 adults + 1 child.
Loved that each bedroom upstairs had their own private bathroom.
Beach access from the house is challenging but easier access to the beach for those with walking issues is within a short drive in either direction of the house.
Stairs in the house were too steep for my elderly mother (who suffers with back and leg issues) but the couch makes into a bed so she had a place to sleep without navigating the steps each day. (Hideabed was so-so on the comfort level).
Weather was sunny and beautiful but the north wind was cold and relentless when we visited. The south side of the house has a small deck on it and it was a little slice of paradise! Sunny, warm and protected from the wind! Perfect place to soak up the rays and relax!
Linley S.Jul 2017
So relaxing and liked being able to walk to the beach. A million dollar view every day!
Joyce E.Jun 2017
We had a cousins reunion with 2 from Norway. Everyone had there own space and bathrooms. It was a great experience for all. Kitchen was well stocked for our needs and the home seemed to have everything you would need at the coast.
Christine J.May 2017
The property has the most amazing views of the ocean! Truly gorgeous! It is a great value for the view and house.
When my boyfriend and I arrived at the property, we were perplexed by all of the odd figurines, random antique wall adornments, and the very good condition the house was in for being obviously furnished and set up in the 80's. We were a little freaked out at first but after surviving the first night, we lined up the figurines as our audience, while we played Jenga and cards.
Chris N.Apr 2017
House was beautiful and being able to walk out on the deck after a full day of work to hear the Ocean waves was so relaxing. A must stay we will go back again.
Victoria J.Mar 2017
Large family house with fabulous view from every room and great central location. All amenities provided. Well planned living area, large kitchen, and activities for kids. Beach access steps away.
