Villa

The Good: Seabird - Villa 21 has fantastic vibe. The location is perfect—close to the airport and just a quick 10-minute golf cart ride to the center of Placencia. We really loved the modern, minimalist aesthetic, and the AC worked flawlessly. The separate "casita" layout was a brilliant touch that gave our older kids their own space, and the private plunge pool was a daily highlight. The kitchen is also much better appointed than your average rental, featuring a great set of pots, pans, and glassware. The Meh: Unfortunately, at roughly $450 a night, the property positions itself as a luxury accommodation but falls short due to frustrating nickel-and-diming and missing details. Amenities and consumables were shockingly sparse. For four people in a hot beach climate, we were given exactly six bathroom towels. We were forced to do laundry nearly daily just to have clean towels. The "lux" feeling disappears when small simple things aren't provided like basic starter pods for the dishwasher or laundry, no cooking basics (salt, pepper, oil), and no replenishment of toilet paper or paper towels over a **12-day** stay. The WTF: The site planning and build quality feel a bit rushed. There is no lighting on the villa number by the driveway, making it incredibly hard to find at night (a simple solar light would fix this). Inside, the shower floors in the slopes poorly (partially/slowly flooding the bathroom), and some fixtures were installed improperly or backward. There is also a severe disconnect between Vacasa's automated help system and the local team, making it hard to get assistance when needed (ghosted days at a time). The Verdict: They have all the pieces in place to make this a stellar property, but the management is missing simple details and trying to save pennies in the wrong places. It made for an unnecessarily annoying experience on what should have been a seamless family vacation.
