A stunning resort town in the rolling hills of Santiago del Tiede, Los Gigantes is a wonderful spot to find your paradise on the breathtaking island of Tenerife. Watch the waves crash against the iconic rocky cliffs from your enviable vacation rental, or head out to explore this culture-rich coastal town with shopping, dining, and more.
On the gorgeous Canary Islands of Tenerife, just north of Puerto de Santiago and Playa de la Arena resorts, this enchanting town is surrounded by beauty. As you go further inland, the views of the ocean only get better. Although all of the Canary Islands are fantastic spots for a getaway, Tenerife, and more specifically, the west coast where Los Gigantes is located, is known as one of the great spots in the Canaries.
You'll quickly find the true beauty of Los Gigantes as you explore all three viewpoints of the Acantilados de Los Gigantes (the cliffs at Los Gigantes). One is on the main road towards Tamaimo, another is above the sports club, and the third is set upon a picturesque pathway around the Hotel Barcelo. Be sure to bring your camera and pack a nice picnic lunch to enjoy with your sweetheart as you gaze across the blue water and jutting cliffs!
The beaches in town aren't the sandy shores you may be used to, but they have their own unique draw. If you're looking for a more traditional beach, there is a small black sand beach between the rocks and the marina, where you can rent jet skis, boats, and banana boats, or book a private charter and whale- and dolphin-watching excursions.
Just down the road from the marina are delicious eateries, so take a break from cooking in your Los Gigantes vacation rental and try El Rincon de Juan Carlos, Tas-K for great tapas, or fresh seafood and incredible desserts at KV Bar Gourmet.
If possible, make your way into town in February when the carnival parades through town. Vibrant decor, tasty food, and fun contests and races take place for almost two weeks around the island.
Tenerife is bursting with thrilling attractions that will keep you happily busy for far longer than you had planned on staying. Loro Parque, a 13.5-hectacre zoo, is 33 miles to the northeast in Punta Brava and a great spot for kids and adults alike. Watch whales glide through the water, snap pictures of the tigers, and catch amazing shows. Golfing is available 23 miles north at the new Buenavista Golf Course in Masca. And don't miss out on driving 32 miles inland to witness the stunning 12,402-foot Mount Teide and take pictures next to the iconic Dragon Tree!
If you're looking for clubs, nightlife, and live music, head to the golden sands of Playa de las Américas, just 19 miles south. Here, you will also find adrenaline-pumping Siam Park, one of the biggest waterparks in all of Europe! For a unique location between a gorgeous natural reserve and the mountains, the autonomous community of Palm-Mar is only 23 miles south of Los Gigantes.
No matter how you choose to spend your vacation in Los Gigantes, there's no doubt you'll be yearning for an annual return trip.
