Longing for a relaxing retreat? Escape to the picturesque town of Zapallar! A popular respite for Chilean aristocrats, including political and social elites, this seaside city is now more accessible than ever thanks to our abundance of Zapallar vacation rentals.
Families, friends, and tourists from around the globe flock to Central Chile's breathtaking coastline! With its inspiring landscape of rolling hills giving way to sandy shores and rocky outcroppings, you'll find that this area is reminiscent of California’s central coast.
Come for the beach, but stay for the laid-back attitude and opportunities for adventure that you'll find during your time staying in one of our vacation rentals in Zapallar!
Bordered by the quaint seaside towns of Maitencillo to the north and Cachagua to the south, Zapallar sits on Chile’s central coast. Located about 100 miles northwest of Santiago, you'll enjoy your isolated oasis without being too far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Belonging to Petorca Province, Zapallar resides in the Valparaíso region, Chile’s second most densely populated region after the Santiago metropolitan area.
Bathed in sunshine and blessed with a mild Mediterranean climate, Zapallar is a popular South American destination for beachgoers and watersports fans. Lather on some sunscreen and head down to Playa del Zapallar, the town’s spacious beach which greets vacationers with fine yellow sand and deep blue Pacific Ocean waters. Shaped like a horseshoe, Playa del Zapallar offers incredible views of austere mansions and exclusive resorts in the surrounding hills.
Leave your worries behind, kick back, and relax in the glorious sun, sand, and surf! Catch a wave on a rented surfboard, play a fun game of paddleball with friends or family, or grab a pisco sour at Cesar, a favorite beachside restaurant. If you’re interested in exploring any of the area’s other beautiful beaches, check out Cachagua and Playa La Laguna. For a fun way to see the other beaches, strap on some skates or rent a bike to explore from La Rambla, the pedestrian pathway that meanders along the beachfront.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to love about Zapallar, including the famed Cachuaga Hike. Beginning at Mar Bravo, this stone pathway winds along the coast, revealing hidden beaches, granite islands in the surf, and abundant wildlife. There's even an island populated by Chilean penguins, accurately called Isle de Penguinos. Guests of all ages will love exploring the tide pools that form between car-sized rocks, walking amongst the towering trees in the El Pangue forest, and catching glimpses of playful sea lions and otters just offshore.
Due to its unique microclimate, gardening is a popular year-round pastime and many colorful varieties of flowers adorn garden beds and well-coifed lawns around town. Grab your camera and snap postcard-worthy photos of vibrant purple, fiery red, and sunshine yellow flowers lining the pathway to Isla Seca, or “Dry Island” in English, another popular walk which yields lovely views of a dome-like granite outcropping several meters offshore.
Whether you're in the mood for coastal exploration or beachside lounging on the scenic Chilean Coast, your adventure starts when you book one of our Zapallar vacation homes today!
