We felt right at home the moment we walked in. It has a vintage family cabin charm. Great location to the beach and town. We plan to stay again.
This is our second time back to this home and hopefully there are many more. You can't find a better location in Cannon Beach - right next to the beach and the downtown area. The home itself is warm and comforting. It is a great place to relax, listen to the sounds of the ocean, and play board games.
The only thing stopping this home from getting 5 stars is the lack of a Queen size bed. We work around the Double, but a Queen would make this home a clear 5 star.
Highly recommend this home.
Roomy and well stocked.
Lovely glass decor.
Lots of lights and heating options.
Bedroom w/double bed needs a dresser.
Old double bed mattress needs to go. In fact, a Queen size bed would be better.
Room off kitchen would be better used as a bathroom with a soaking tub.
Needs a new vacuum cleaner.
Would definitely rent this home again!! Bought a couple of wine glasses at thrift shop for house as it only had 3. Could use more coffee mugs. Overall, it was a fun vacation home for 4 adults and a small pup.
My wife and 20 month old stayed here for 5 days and had a wonderful stay. Perfect location steps away from the beach and easy walk into town. Place is very well-stocked with about anything you may need. Cozy, with lots of books for relaxed reading, and lots of beach gear and toys for children and adults. Property management team great and easy to work with for your needs.
To start with the cottage is exactly as written up. I will also say it is very well managed, and the local representative was excellent. The location is very good, and the cottage was well equipped. My wife and I very much enjoyed our week long stay. The main floor space and furnishings were very comfortable. Upstairs is what you should expect of a cottage of this vintage. The beds are small, the ceilings low (in places), and the lighting now overly bright. But it was comfortable and what we expected.
We both very much enjoyed this property both inside and outside as well. The owners and the folks managing it do a very good job.
From the moment we rolled in we felt at home. The place was spotless. And everything you might need was there; beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, board games. Somehow while not stylish it was SO comfortable. And welcoming. It really did feel like you were staying with family... the kind you want to visit. We had a small shower snafu and our contact person Rita could not have been more helpful in resolving it! She checked in to make sure everything was going fixed and it was! Again we loved it and we’ll be back. The Montana Clan!
This house was wonderful! The house is an awesome location, just a quick walk into town and also to haystack rock. It was very clean with plenty of towels, dishes, bedding and other things like chairs for the beach etc. it’s also completely gated which is super nice when you bring your fur babies. The only things I didn’t like about the house were 1) there are sooooo many glass nicknacks, if I had kids I’d be scared to have them in there. 2) the landscapers came while we were enjoying some afternoon napping/relaxing but we weren’t given a heads up about it.
Other than that it really is a great house with an awesome location. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation there.
Location, neighborhood,yard and comfort..
Right in the middle of Cannon Beach and minutes walk from the ocean, we could not have asked for a better location! The house had a nice area for our family to hang out and served all our needs. Will definitely be looking to come back!
We absolutely loved this home and plan on coming back every year now.
We were unable to go on our trip as planned due to devastating wildfires across all of Washington and Oregon. Instead of a 6 hour trip, it would have taken us 14+ hours to arrive and we would have been traveling with a 1 and 3 year old. In addition the air quality in Cannon Beach at that time was listed as hazardous.
When vacasa asked the property owner if they would let us re-book at a later date due to the wildfires, we were told no, and that they would not credit back any of the money.
Fortunately vacasa was kind enough to credit back their booking fee and cleaning fees.
I would not recommend staying at this property as the owners were unwilling to work with us in the case of an unforeseen and rare as well as devastating natural disaster.
Great house and location. Short block to the beach and short walk to downtown area. Quiet and relaxing.
The frustrations of this home overwhelmed its good points for a one woman-plus-dogs trip. I chose it for its fully fenced yard. Another guest mentioned that instructions for the TV were needed--no kidding. After a long day of driving and unpacking, I just wanted to relax with a movie. This took an hour and a half of hit or miss tries and two calls to Vacasa. By the time they phoned back, I had figured it out, but was exasperated. Many of the little things--coffee filters, working lamps and remote controllers, kindling for the woodstove--were missing. Sure, I could go out and buy filters, light bulbs, batteries, and newspaper. But then it wouldn't be a vacation, would it? Too many knick-knacks and ugly artwork left the house cluttered and dusty. I found a bag on the table with some wrapping paper sticking out of it, and a note that said, "Just for you" from Vacasa. Inside was a roll of paper towels, some sponges, and dish soap. Just what I need to do chores--at home! That was a pretty rude welcome basket. Next time, I'd choose a local property management firm that has a stake in guest happiness.
This is a comfortable vintage cottage. The cottage is well furnished and equipped and the location is excellent despite not being oceanfront
Be aware beds are not queen sized which is a bit unusual
Cannon Beach was an easy 3 hour get away from Seattle. We enjoyed being so close to the beach- just 1 house back. Walking to shops and restaurants was easy.
close to the beach and down town
Comfortable beds, great access to beach and shops and restaurants.
We recently stayed at the Haystack Cottage for a week (June 2016) and had the most amazing time.
Our group consisted of two couples, and the cottage, location, and layout was just perfect for us.
This is a hidden gem, and although the reviews are glowing, they STILL do not do it justice!!
The cottage is literally one house back from the beach, and a couple of blocks from the township of Cannon Beach.
The cottage was immaculately clean, and had everything we could possibly need.
The highlights for us were (apart from the epic location and cute house), the large living space - enough couches for 4 people to each have their own space to snooze and read, and the sunny deck and grass area - perfect for more snoozing and reading.
Cannon Beach itself is just stunning, and we were lucky enough to be there for the annual sand castle competition.
If we are ever back on the Oregon coast, Cannon Beach and the Haystack Cabin will be first on our list.
Thank you for a truly wonderful holiday in your special place.
My family has been going to Cannon Beach for over 3 decades. Lately, we've been giving Vacasa a try, and found this house. The description was fairly accurate. House is not "Ocean-View" as described, but that was okay. It was very close to the beach (50 foot walk), and super close to town, so that made up for it. House was well-sized, was great for a cozy 3-4 day getaway. Some downsides: TV was only 40", only one shower, and the bedroom set up was a little awkward. Otherwise, a solid place to stay, and worth the low price.
My husband and I throughly enjoyed our stay and loved the beach house feel of the cabin, it was perfect. Just steps to the beach with our two dogs for some ball time and a walk was very relaxing. Accommodations were great and we especially loved the fire burning stove to warm the cabin and chill out with a good book. We will definitely be back.
We so enjoyed our time at your home. It was so welcoming and comfortable. Thanks for a great stay. We will gladly come back again!
We walked to the rock every day, to the village frequently, and explored the many gravel lanes and sandy paths that wind throughout Cannan Beach. It's easy to cook in this charming cottage so we ate in and enjoyed family time together in this ideal spot for relaxing. Both bedrooms are up rather steep stairs with a very small shared bathroom there. The main bathroom is on the ground floor so we showered there.
Our recent stay at Haystack Cabin was a delight. Well equipped and comfortable, the house was just right for us. The gathering room provided a great place for visiting or reading or playing board games and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare all our meals. The sound of the surf at night lulled us to sleep and the location of the cabin was perfect for walking to everything.
The feeling of happiness and goodness is felt throughout this house. Although it's an old house it was warm and well equipped. The great room is especially inviting.
My 9yr old exclaimed as soon as he walked in the door "best vacation home ever!" beig a bit more discerning I thought I'd take a look around first but gotta hand it to the kid, he nailed it.
The openess of the main floor is so inviting that you will find yourself wishing for rainy days just so you can light up the stove and play games. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some and the photos don't do the yard justice for its beauty. The bedrooms had plenty of space and comfortable beds and soft sheets. To say we were surprised to find wet suits of various sizes would be an understatment. Being from South Carolina it was a real treat for my son to be able to swim and play in the ocean.
As to the location - walk 30 steps to the left and your on the sand looking at Haystack Rock. If you walk 100 steps to the right you're at the end of the block and right downtown with all the shops. The house has everything you need but holds true to its history and isn't so overmodernized that it lacks personality. It had not been cleaned on our arrival but a call to Vacasa and this was quickly addressed.
In an effot to be objective I wanted to try and think of one thing we really needed, one thing that would offer future renters some additional insight on what to expect and the only thing I could think of was time.....we needed more time.
We had great expectations for this house and our expectations were exceeded in almost every way. The house is very roomy and comfortable, with lots of big soft couches and chairs to relax on after a long day at the beach, hiking or exploring. The main room has big windows all around so it is always bright and sunny, yet the surrounding colorful trees, bushes and flowers make it feel secluded. Although not on the beach, it is at the end of a quiet, pretty street just within about 100 feet of the beach and a short walk to Haystack rock. It's also just a couple blocks from downtown, so we never needed a car in Cannon Beach. The house is very well equipped, actually better than indicated online or in a phone call to vacasa ( for example there is a hairdryer and a large DVD library). Three beds in the second room for our three kids was also a plus. Only thing lacking is a queen size bed, rather than a full, in the other room to allow more comfortable sleeping for the adults.
Wonderful weather, great home-close to the beach.
Great common room with awesome wood burning stove. View of the ocean was only from one bedroom window; this was disappointing.
This house was so perfect for us. Fully equipped with everything you need. We will defiantly be coming back.
The location of this house was ideal for walks on the beach and into town.
A a previous reviewer said its not brand new but perfect for a comfortable easygoing stay. We really enjoyed walking along the beach usually followed by naps in the comfortable living room with the wood stove blazing away. It was great and just what we needed. If you have dogs there is a fenced yard, warm water hose outside for rinsing off sand and an enclosed mud room. This was a big bonus for us. I would definitely recommend this house for a relaxing stay.
My husband & I stayed at this lovely beach home for Thanksgiving this year... Not to mention we celebrated our 11 yr. anniversary too! I grew up in Cannon Beach as a child & this was the first home I've rented since I left almost 15 years ago! The house was perfect & very roomy! Clean as a whistle, cozy as a button & so very quaint as well. We were also very surprised by all the bonuses the home had to offer- plenty of DVDs for movie watching, books galore, games, wetsuits, rain gear, the list goes on & on! The best part however was the location... Less than a minute & the beach is at your footsteps! Down town Cannon Beach & shopping is literally minutes away - you simply just can't beat the location! The wood stove was a must have & having plenty of wood on the property to keep us warm & dry was a blessing! We hope you enjoy your stay at this wonderful beach home too & we can't wait to return for another visit! Thank you so very much!
We loved every minute of stay, very relaxing. Our stay was not long enough. We will definitely come again soon. Thx so much for a great couple of days.
Loved the location, perfect escape for spring break
This a wonderful place to stay at a very reasonable cost. It is very close to the beach and the delightful downtown area. We were very impressed with how clean the cottage was. I would highly recommend it.
My wife loves the ocean and storms and she got the whole thing. We could hear the roar of the waves at night with a window open and we had thunder and lightening twice. The beach house met all of our expectations and Cannon Beach did not disappoint.
A very "beachy" feeling house in a perfect location - park the car and walk wherever you need to go. Although it says it sleeps six, there are only 4 beds (2 dbl + 2 twin) in 2 bedrooms so take that into consideration.
The beach had the perfect location. This was very important to us because we had twin 4 years olds and didn't want to have to be far in case they wanted food or a bathroom. The house is a older beach house so it is very functional of everything you need. If you are looking for a brand new house this may not be for you, but this house has everything you need. The absence of a dishwasher wasn't any big deal. GREAT Location and no need to drive anywhere.
It was a great, cozy house, near everything. We had a very fun time :)
Great property. We will go here again
Everything was perfect in this home. Looks as if it has been well love on the Oregon coast. It was a chilly evening when we arrived. The wood stove heated both the house and our hearts quickly. The kitchen is well stocked along with the wood pile. A home away from home with plenty to keep you busy if you choose.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this property. The location was super -- one block from the beach and just a few blocks from town. The house was very clean and comfortable with every amenity we needed...even our dogs were happy having a fenced yard! It was our 10th year spending spring break in Cannon Beach and this property was probably one of the best!
We loved this house. It is steps to the beach and a short walk of only a block or two to all the great restaurants and stores. We liked the living room, kitchen,TV,etc. The rooms upstairs were fine. It is a great place for dogs with a fenced backyard. Our only complaint was we did not know how to operate the Direct TV remote (recommend directions). Vacasa Rentals also responded quickly to any questions. We will be coming back to this place.
Thanks for the tip on the remote, we will put some detailed instructions in the guest book. We are glad you had a great stay!
Great house, close to beach and offers great view+amenities.
Wonderful location. We didnt need our car. Easy walk everywhere. Fenced yard nicely landscaped, great for small pets. All the comforts needed for a rest at the beach.
