We enjoyed the house very much. It was cozy, clean, and comfortable. It was located in a great place close to shopping and beach walking. It was also close to other attractions out of the town. We had a great time and will definitely look at booking there or another property in the future. Thank you.
Amy P. Jun 2019
Lovely home, cozy and well equipped for our family of five. Walkable to darling shops, restaurants and the beach. We loved the spaciousness, beach towels, books and DVDs, too. Thank you so much!
Julie B. Jun 2019
We had an amazing time staying in Rockaway Beach and exploring the Oregon coast! This home is a short walk to the beach and centrally located for all the beaches, coves, and sights along the northern coast.
Levi R. Jun 2019
Perfect little house!! We really loved staying here! It was in a great location. It was clean. It was super spacious. We will be back for sure!
Scott C. Apr 2019
We looked at several other places, but this one was much bigger for our family of 6. Great location - just a five minute walk down to the ocean. There are a lot of good restaurants and shops all within walking distance as well!
Nicholas L. Nov 2018
Even has a washer and dryer that was not listed on the amenities. Very clean and comfortable.
Ben H. Oct 2018
Great little house in an underrated coastal community. We enjoyed the quick walk to the beach, and had a nice creative retreat (we put the piano to work!)
Gary M. Sep 2018
Love staying in this little house . This is our second stay and we are already planning for next year! It is clean and so nice. Just a short walk to the beach and downtown!
CARLA A. Jun 2018
Convenient to down town
Ellen B. Jun 2018
This is a cute little house. As stated by others, the floorplan is a little disjointed because of add-ons etc. The floor does slope and has 2 separate steps that require adjusting to, in the kitchen and into the bathroom area. But the weather was beautiful so we were there only in the evening.......The price was good. We would stay there again.
Kimberli T. May 2018
Great location, so close to the beach. A great house for a family with kids. Not brand new but still clean.
Kelly G. Mar 2018
This house was much larger than expected, and very comfortable. It is fully stocked, clean and has everything a person might need (including wine glasses and two cheese graters!). The owners have great taste. I would definitely stay here again.
Annette B. Nov 2017
This house was great for my family. Next time I'll probably pay more for a nicer location with a view but this house was great for the price and for our family with young children. Very strange layout in the house though. Add-ons were awkward and the floor is sloped in places. But overall it was very clean and comfortable.
Todd H. Oct 2017
Clean, close to beach. Close to quicky mart
Kenna B. Sep 2017
This little house is great for staying in Rockaway. It is a few short blocks to walk to the beach and to local market and restaurants. House has all of the basics you need to stay and enjoy the beautiful area.
Gary M. Sep 2017
Very nicely furnished and clean. It's close to downtown and the beach. We were very pleased with the house!
Stacy B. Sep 2017
This beach house it the perfect addition to your vacation! Located close to a fantastic beach and cute shops. Rockaway Beach is a close drive to many other locations that you should add to your itinerary. This town is great for those who are trying to watch their budget without having to sacrifice comfort and cleanliness. I cannot wait to plan my next vacation to this home! Don't miss out!
Barbara W. Sep 2017
Ok.
Heather M. Jun 2017
Great location! Quiet, clean, 2-block walk to the beach. Also 2 blocks from a little city park and 1 block off the main thoroughfare with several restaurant options.
Meghan H. Apr 2017
Close to beach access. Wasn't too hard to get across highway 101. Able to walk to nearby restaurants and shops. Lots of DVDs and books in the house if you forget to bring your own.
Ellee D. Apr 2017
Very nice for the price! Close to everything in town. This out of shape mom of 2 found it very walkable. Would recommend.
Cynthia N. Mar 2017
Comfortable and nothing fancy, but just right for sandy guests, children and 4 legged.
Mackenzie O. Dec 2016
Overall, it was a nice experience! The staff was incredibly, above-and-beyond helpful, in answering our pre-vacation questions. Also, the next door neighbors helped us when we had difficultly figuring out the key box. Very kind of them and we appreciated that!

The home was SO close to everything. Literally roughly a block away from the main stretch of town and maybe two "blocks" from the beach itself? Wonderful location!

The home itself was actually really spacious and had a fun, cozy, vintage, cabin vibe to it! The piano was also a really fun touch!

Our only minor issues were that the master bed was incredibly soft, which meant that you would end up sleeping sort of at an incline, as your body would slope down as you sunk-in. Also the kitchen table arrangement is not like the one that is pictured. The table is currently at bar height and the seating are un-cushioned, wooden bar stools. Which was a little painful on our tailbones but not a deal breaker or anything, however for a family with small children, you might want to keep that in mind.

You will also want to clean all of the dishes before using them. We found food particles and a greasy sheen on many of the kitchen items/plates that we used. The cabin has no dishwasher and the policy is that the renter is supposed to clean the dishes before they leave, which obviously leaves you at the mercy of how much the renter before you, actually cares about doing a good job.

Overall, very cute home though! Great location, helpful staff, and a fun experience (for a great price)!
Bethany H. Nov 2016
There were some improvements made since our last trip - a new (brighter?) coat of paint outside, the new table is lovely and the recliner is super comfy! Staff were kind enough to leave us a disposable roasting pan for our turkey (which came in handy because I left the rack for my roaster at home) and there was a perfect amount of all the little necessities. As before, the movie and book collections were quirky and fun (Jaws is the perfect ironic beach movie, LOL!) and my tech-dependent teens were very grateful that the wifi was working this time around. This is an adorable little home and perfect for my family. We had a great time and will definitely be back!
Ryan A. Oct 2016
Great location and was pleased with what the home had to offer. You just need to watch out for the Raccoons at night. There was a pack outside of the house everynight. Don't let your pet outside alone.
Gordon J P. Oct 2016
The home was very clean, well stocked with books and movies. I loved the uneven floors thruout the house, it reminded me of my Grandmas house (old) Even thou it rained the whole time there I had a great time, I will rent it again.
Melissa S. Sep 2016
This house was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely be coming back!
Daria T. Sep 2016
The Orange Beacon House has got a lot of old-house charm, is quite spacious and is in the middle of all Rockaway Beach attractions.
It's a 2 minute walk to the beach and 1 minute walk to coffee shops, bakery, restaurants, a very cool train, and shopping. Rockaway beach is a small town, but it's great for a peaceful family get away.
The beach is absolutely beautiful, with white sand and amazing views! Very windy so bring warm clothes!
We would definitely recommend this house and Rockaway beach for a low-key family vacation.
Lyudmila O. Sep 2016
It is just like on the picture minimal and not cozy. As you walk in from outside there is first room in wich is double bed is for your children. It was shocking to us, because of the location of it - right next to door. You have to go from there through kitchen, small room and than there is master bedroom. After master bedroom there is veranda with a futon. So our child slept there, on not so soft futon.
Robert Y. Jul 2016
This house is convenient to town & beach. It was clean. Has only a double bed and bunk bed. Well equipped but .....no dishwasher or wi-fi.
Tonia P. Jun 2016
This place is quirky and comfortable. It is located within walking distance to almost everything, pizza, mini mart, shops, beach, etc. And it's priced fair. Loved it.
Christopher & Julie A. May 2016
We stayed at the Orange Beacon House for my birthday weekend. It's got charm and plenty of space to hang out. My daughter loved playing on the piano. The bed in the master was waaaay too soft, I ended up moving to the futon in the little attached sunroom. You can easily from this house to food, drink, and the beach. It's a cute little place to stay.
Darius L. May 2016
This little beach house is located in a good area close to pizza, convenience store, police station and the beach. The house has a mildew type smell to it due to it being an older home and all. Furniture is so so and has very strange decor throughout. Was in need of a deep clean throughout when we stayed in May 2016. Floors in the house are not level so that may annoy some. Was nice to have dishes, paper towels and laundry detergent during our stay. If you are just looking for a place to sleep and have room for the kids, this house is perfect for that. Overall this house is a 5 out of 10 in our opinion. Hope this was helpful to soon to be vacationers.
Andrea & Hector S. May 2016
This was a decent house, we would stay here again. Some of The decor was a little creepy but other than that we all had a nice time!!
Brandon P. Apr 2016
Very nice, it's even bigger than it looks in the pictures. Good video and book selection. Well equipped kitchen
Shane G. Feb 2016
The cabin is only a 2 minute walk away from a beautiful beach, and a short drive away from amenities that you will need for your stay. It's about a 30-45 minute drive away from Seaside if you wanted to do an easy day trip, and a little less than 2 hours to Portland. The cabin is well furnished, making it easy to cozy up and watch movies or play board games. The kitchen has almost everything if not everything that one would need to fully prepare meals. All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend that others stay here as well.
Adi F. Jan 2016
This was a cute house in a great Rockaway location, a few blocks from the beach and also a cute little city park. It had quality old furnishings that you could tell the owners have had for many years. Felt very cozy and well loved.
Bethany H. Dec 2015
The best thing about staying at the beach, according to my family, is an eccentric little beach house. The Orange Beacon House certainly fit the bill. While some people might be put off by the house color, the slanting floors or wobbly dining chairs, we considered it part of the charm. We loved the collection of books and DVDs (we are fans of old black and white horror films) and really felt at home. Our only real issue was a surly neighbor who yelled about the porch light being on at 7pm. Eh. Whatever.
Tara J. Nov 2015
The orange Beacon was a great place to stay. We had a blast at the house. Rockway is a really fun little town. We would stay there again in a heart beat. It was well worth what you paid. It is older but if you are not looking for the best of the best this is a place for you. Clean, well stocked, big, loved the fireplace it made it feel like home. I would recommend it.
Chris W. Oct 2015
Overall it was a great stay, the place was actually very nice especially for the price when you compare it to surrounding rentals. The biggest disappointment was that the internet did not work, I think the owner needs to pay the bill to get it turned back on because the router/wireless worked just fine but there was never any incoming internet signal.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review! We will have the Property Manager check on the internet right away. We are very sorry that it was not working for your stay. We hope to see you again!
Kimberly N. Sep 2015
Location was absolutely perfect and the place is cute and quirky. We loved the movie selection and piano, and the extra collection of condiments in the kitchen was very helpful! The bed and couch were both extremely comfortable. Fireplace is hard to get going and doesn't put out much heat, but the heaters all seemed to work. Shower pressure was very low, but eventually gets the job done. Overall I would say that you get what you pay for with this rental.
April P. Aug 2015
We have stayed here twice now and its plenty of room for our family. The master bedroom has a full size bed so a bigger one would be nice. Theres plenty of sleep spots though so it works for us. Love the location. Theres a nice park a block away. Beach is beautiful.
Matthew B. Aug 2015
Wonderful home that was very close to many beaches and activities in the surrounding area. Very fun to have the piano in the main room to play around on.

Only issues were that the wireless did not work at all and was not resolved during our stay. The dryer wouldn't turn off unless the door was kept open or kept unplugged. The dishes needed to be washed before use because they weren't properly cleaned before our arrival.

Aside from that, a great home that I would definitely stay in again and hope to in the future.

Also, Kelly's Marina just north of Rockaway Beach in Brighton is always fun and a great time. We caught 7 crab and had a feast. Clamming in Netarts? A definite must. Came home with more than 40 cockle clams. Another feast! Both places a short drive away from the home.
Prashanth N. Jun 2015
The house is very close to the beach and walking distance from twin rocks on the beach. 13 miles from tillamook and a 30 minute drive to Cannon beach. In all, the location was awesome. W.R.T. the house, even though the house is old, the amenities present were good. Overall, I was happy with the stay except a few not so bad experiences- bedsheet had hairs on it and the condiments present were expired. Since we brought our own condiments, it was not much of a problem. Also, there were additional bedsheets and comforters provided which were clean.
Zack B. Apr 2015
The Good
1) Great location within Rockaway - easy walking to everything
2) Varied and good selection of DVD's and books within the house
3) The kitchen has everything you need.
4) The bed is super comfortable.

The Not-so-good
1) This is a cold house, especially the large central area (living room, dining room, kitchen). The small heaters and really small wood stove (one small log at a time) have trouble keeping this space warm.
2) We were told it had streaming Netflix before going, but it does not.
Manager response:
We apologize for the confusion regarding Netflix and want to confirm that this home does NOT offer Netflix streaming. We will work on getting some extra blankets in the home for our guests to snuggle up in as they enjoy a fire and a movie night. Thank you for choosing Vacasa!
Joanna D. Apr 2015
On the outside, this quaint beach house doesn't look in to great of shape with the paint peeling off the sides, but inside is a different story. This beach house was very cozy and relaxing. The TV was great quality and they movies to watch too (even tho not that great of selection). The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking and eatery items. The coffee pot needs replacing since it refused to make anything more than a quarter of a pot without spilling coffee all over the counter. I'd also suggest the owners should restock on their coffee supplies. There was barely any cream or sugar and definitely no coffee grounds. I'd also suggest getting a toaster because people enjoy having toast in the morning for breakfast. Besides that, this place was perfect. The bed was extremely cozy and I probably had the best sleep I've had in ages. It was perfect walking distance from town attractions and the beach.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you thought this charming home was so comfortable and a nice place to relax in. Your suggestions regarding a new coffee maker and toaster will certainly be taken under advisement so that we can make our guests feel more at home. So glad to hear that you were able to rest well and thought the home was in a perfect spot for when you wanted to venture out and explore Rockaway Beach. We thank you for staying with us and hope to see you again!
Douglas S. Feb 2015
My wife and I had a great time staying here. We especially enjoyed the DVD selection, books, and the piano that played well in tune! We will definitely be staying here again someday.
Jessica S. Dec 2014
This house was certainly comfy and had all the amenities one needs for a nice relaxing getaway. It might have been nice to have a rug on the main floor, for more lounging and movie-watching, but all in all everything worked and it was a cozy place to hunker down for the weekend.
Katie K. Sep 2014
My husband and I enjoyed our three-night stay at the Orange Beacon House. Sure, it's not the most modern or luxurious property out there, but it was very affordable and had a lot of charm. We had a great time playing the old piano (comes stocked with antique songbooks), cooking in the vintage oven, and having a fire in the old wood-burning oven. The kitchen was fully stocked with all kinds of pots, pans, and gadgets, and while the rental doesn't have a dishwasher, it does have a seemingly brand-new washer and dryer. The large collections of books and DVDs shelved throughout the house were eclectic and fun to browse. The bed in the main bedroom was actually very comfortable--we both slept well. (Can't speak to the other beds, twin bunk beds and a futon.)

Rockaway Beach is not the most happening town on the coast, but it's well positioned if you want to make day trips north or south to other towns. That said, it has a nice beach (just two short blocks from the property, as advertised) and a beautiful old Catholic Church right on the water.

Overall, this rental had a lot of character and met all of our practical needs.
Evangeline P. Aug 2014
You really can't beat the location if you are looking for something more affordable without the view - and Rockaway Beach is a quiet one. But, do be prepared for some quirkiness. The layout of the home is a bit strange, but does provide adequate sleeping area and a place to rest your tired feet after a day out on the beach. If you are a cook, plan on bringing your supplies (skillets, pans, sharp knives, tin foil, etc.) as the kitchen supplies are a bit outdated and limited.
Michael P. Jun 2014
This place is a little quirky - kind of like the house your grandparents would own if they owned a beach house. Most fixtures are on the older side, but the place was clean and tidy. The laminate floors are a huge plus, though the floor sags a bit in places. Upon arriving, we instantly felt at home, at ease, and comfortable. This is a simple beach house for simple folks - we really appreciated that. The proximity to the beach is the best feature - if you're wanting to hang out in the sand all day, this is the place to be!
Gail W. May 2014
Home was clean, however, be prepared for funky furniture and awkward floor plan. There is a step up in the kitchen that we all about killed ourselves on throughout our 3 1/2 day stay. Can't sit up in the bottom bunk. Utility room awkward and only has a shower/no bathtub. Overall, the location is fantastic! Within a block from the beach and pizza place, etc. etc.
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your review. As we continue to update and improve this home we will certainly consider your suggestions to ensure the comfort and convenience of our guests. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we would love another opportunity to impress you!
Melissa W. Apr 2014
I really liked this house. It wasn't too spacious or too cramped, had a rustic charm goin on with the furnishings, and I loved the piano (even if I don't know how to play). Its literally two blocks from the shore and just as close to restaurants, the tavern, and the few shops in Rockaway. My friends and I loved the rock garden, and found a mystery cow on the beach. :)
Manager response:
A mystery cow on the beach? That sounds like the beginning of a great story! We're glad that you found the house to be just right for your group and that you were pleased with the distance to the beach and shops in Rockaway.
Robin S. Nov 2013
for the price it was nice. The place was ready and is centrally located. Did not have to walk far for anything we needed. We enjoyed the rental.
Dana H. Sep 2013
We were pleasantly surprised by the Orange Beacon House for the price and availability. It was very clean and tidy, and well stocked with everything we needed. Linens were fresh and the beds were comfortable, even the bunk beds. We would love to stay again!
Monika W. Aug 2013
Our stay at the Beacon House was great. Very convenient location, close to the beach and all the amenities. The house is very cozy and quiet. I would definitely go back to Rockaway Beach once more:)
Hannah B. Aug 2012
You get what you pay for. For the price the house was okay. Would have paid more for beds that were more comfortable, a dvd player that works, but loved that they accepted dogs and had a fenced back yard!
Manager response:
I just want to let you know that we have replaced the mattress on the bed with a brand new Seally mattress, replaced the carpets with laminate flooring, replaced some furniture, added a flat screen TV and a new DVD and replaced all the bedding. Take a look at the new pictures!
Cindy W. Jul 2012
My family enjoyed a quiet few days at Rockaway beach. The property is quiet (eventhough it is off the main road) and an easy trek to the beach. Bring reading material and games because the TV reception is very shotty. Our family rated the property an "8" out of 10 and we will be staying here in the future.
Susan P. Jul 2012
So close to the beach, which was/is VERY important to my 8 year old! Quick, easy walk! The town is quiet so I felt VERY good for family get away. House was big, living room especially so the kids could clown around. Everything we could need was already in the kitchen, very clean. Thanks Vacasa!
Laura W. May 2012
We had such a great time. The people at vacasa were VERY helpful, easy to deal with and friendly. The house we stayed in was awesome. We enjoyed our vacation a lot, thank you!
Charlie M. Mar 2012
Stayed two nights here during Spring Break 2012. They take pets and have beds for six. Fully stocked kitchen, walk to the beach & shopping. Lots of books and games too. Great family place.
