The house had an amazing view and was in a perfect location to get away. There were, however, a number of flaws. 1) The Internet was extremely slow (we have rented other houses in Cape Meares and not had this issue.) 2) The washing machine leaked and there was black mold inside. 3) There were few kitchen amenities (i.e. no napkins and no pepper),4) Handles on cabinets and dresser drawers were broken, 5) Sliding door screens came off the track often, 6) The right burner on the stove does not work. For the nightly cost of the house, basic maintenance, WiFi, and kitchen basics should be provided. That being said, we did love the house and hope Vacasa will address these issues.
Manager response:
Thank you for your feedback and we're so glad you had a great trip. We understand the internet can be slow at times and we are now working with the carrier to come up with a solution. Our local staff has addressed the maintenance issues mentioned as well made sure the kitchen supplies are stocked up. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your thoughtful review and we hope to see you again soon!

This house was perfect for a couple. We loved the location and the direct beach access, although you do have to walk down a rocky hill to get to the beach, that was no problem for us. We went for long walks on the beach. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed. We cooked several meals there since there are no restaurants close by. We had everything we needed to cook. Tillamook had everything we could have wanted as well. I wouldn't say the house was luxurious, it is a beach house, but quiet and cozy. We loved the house, the location and the beach.
Brian B. Jun 2019
This was one of the most beautiful stays we’ve had the good fortune of enjoying.
Cindy L. Apr 2019
Hands down one of the best weekends of my life. The home is on a quiet stretch of beach that is just a short walk away.
Paul O. Dec 2018
We very much enjoyed our stay here. The house is cozy and well equipped, and the hot tub overlooking the ocean is a real bonus. The only downsides were that the internet did not work (although it was stormy during our stay which may have accounted for that issue), and there were a couple of kitchen snafus with the facing of the oven and the toekick/baseboard beneath the kitchen sink coming loose. But the oven and and sink were functional, so we just worked around those issues. We would recommend this cottage to friends.
Tim D. Nov 2018
Place was clean, accurate to the listing, great location, good size, well stocked. Hot tub was clean and operational. Property is cool. The only negative was that the infernet was a little slow and unreliable, but not useless, and probably not really the owners fault. Not a problem...
Barbara H. Oct 2018
Location was great
Quiet
Byron E. Aug 2018
Great view and quiet secluded little coastal village
David H. Aug 2018
loved the ocean view from the back deck good bbq family and fun.
Christine P. Apr 2018
We all loved the location, hot tub and friendly neighborhood. The house was comfortable and beds were great! Not a super friendly kitchen but ok! Could use some little touches ex:tongs, dipping bowls, garlic press, more towels and more bathroom towels! All in all perfect place!
Tracey M. Apr 2018
Great location. Love that the home allows a dog. Stocked kitchen. Great sunset views. Nice deck, hot tub, and fire pit.
Jennifer C. Feb 2018
Great place, very quiet and relaxed
Melissa Z. Jan 2018
Very lovely home perfect for romantic getaway or a family fun time.
Great amenities within the home and the location is in a lovely residential neighborhood.
Pamela B. Jan 2018
Home was clean and exactly what we expected from a rental. View was amazing. Hot tub was great. We would definitely rent this home again.
Adriana V. Dec 2017
Lovely location, view
Melissa L. Nov 2017
Wonderful location, quiet town with lots of beach to explore. Love the view from the cozy house it was perfect to watch storms. Very comfortable furniture, loved the king bed and bedding. It was the perfect place for us and the dogs
Nicholas H. Oct 2017
Was impressed with the condition of the house.
Laurie Q. Oct 2017
Enjoyed ocean view, hot tub, comfortable furniture, king size bed, modern kitchen. Loved that we could have our dog with us!
Orlanda J. Sep 2017
Be prepared to split the wood provided. It was in full rounds when we arrived. Overall very happy with stay.
Elizabeth D. Sep 2017
Great place, don't let this secret out :-)
Laurence S. Sep 2017
Nice little beachfront getaway. The road to the south is washed out, so it's fairly isolated, however on the upside, I think that may be the reason the beach use was so sparse. There is one restaurant nearby, otherwise it's back to Tillamook for anything you need.
If you're looking for a quite spot without the throngs, it's pretty good. One neighbor living next door and a house under construction on the other side, but didn't seem like they were doing much, probably a DIY project.
Staci S. Sep 2017
Great place! Loved the private beach and town.
Stephen E. Aug 2017
The house isn't new but is reasonably functional. If you want a place on the beach that isn't crowded, this is the place for you.
Tracey W. Aug 2017
Beautiful beach front home in very quiet location. Excellent standard of housekeeping and beds so comfy. The place to stay to relax and sleep well and recharge.
Short drive to tillamook where you can buy all your supplies. Would definetly book here again.
Carly N. Aug 2017
It was amazing. The views beautiful and the trail to the beach wasn't bad at all. We definitely found a great place to return for future Birthday weekends.
Sean D. Jul 2017
It was a great house, Cape Meares is pretty and quiet. Beautiful view.
Mary R. Jul 2017
Well-appointed two bedroom - perfect for a quiet retreat. Nice views and easy beach access. Don't go expecting a tourist town - this is off the beaten track and perfect for someone looking for some R&R. The town of Tillamook is close and convenient for groceries and dining out.
Andrew S. Jun 2017
Loved our time here. Weather was outstanding and location was perfect for what we are looking for. House could use a few upgrades and the sounds from upstairs can be heard in the downstairs room. The porch screen door was not installed correctly. You have to make sure to open gingerly otherwise it gets out of track. The garbage cans outside are torn open from raccoons who return every night. So picking up nasty trash the next day must occur. But way more positives than negatives to this location.
KEN S. Jun 2017
Nice little house on a quiet lot. The beach was a bit rocky for high tide, but still it was great for combing with lots of wildlife in the pools at low tide. The house was in great shape and the hot tub was spotless. The only minor downside was when you are downstairs you can hear every step upstairs. I would love to take my family here again.
Don K. Apr 2017
The view was beautiful, the hot tub was warm and relaxing, and the living quarters were warm and cozy! This house has two levels, and we couldn't get the TV downstairs to connect. There's no cable available, so you have to watch satellite TV or the many movies available there. Also, the stairs to get upstairs to the main living area/kitchen are a bit steep.
Overall, this was a wonderful place and we had the best time! My brother was here from Georgia, and this was his second time experiencing the power and beauty of the Pacific Ocean and Oregon Coast. The April windstorm was EPIC! We had a terrific view from the living room of the surf, and felt completely safe in the house.
Margie C. Apr 2017
Quite neighbor hood
Meredith A. Apr 2017
I loved visiting this spot, it had a little bit of everything and wasn't too far from other local spots like Tillamook and Netarts. The best parts of our vacation were relaxing in the hot tub and looking at the stars, and collecting shells on Oceanside Beach.

As other guests have noted, the wifi here is a bit slow and the upstairs floors creak a little. However, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The beds are magnificently comfortable, and it's wonderful to wake up and be able to look out to the ocean!
Kristen O. Jan 2017
What a great spot to spend a few days to kick off 2017! We were very comfortable here with our toddler and dog - more than enough room for all of us! *the hide-a-bed is seriously SO comfy, as evidenced by several naptimes (both toddler and Dad!) It's close enough to Tillamook for necessities, but better to just stay put. The got tub was used, even on the coldest of evenings, and the extra treat of a S'mores kit left for us was so appreciated! Great spot and great time!
Sean B. Nov 2016
It rained for the entirety of our 3 days (typical for the time of year) during our stay and the rental was a wonderful home base to warm our fingers and toes. The property is nestled proximal to a beautiful half day hike up through an old growth forest to oregon's largest Sitka spruce. The place is also very close to some great crabbing in tillamook bay and lucrative rock fishing off the jetty.
Overall, we had a good experience and will likely stay again.
Megan M. Nov 2016
Great property, great location! Brought our two dogs and was very pleased with the accessibility to the beach and various amenities. Lacked in some of the basic kitchen supplies (ex. non stick cooking spray, wine glasses), but was well stocked with pans, dishes, silverware, etc. Overall great place! Would highly recommend and will be returning.
J M. Oct 2016
The first three days were fantastic; unfortunately high winds & heavy rain caused us to leave one day early. Would definitely stay here again.
Tim J. Oct 2016
Cozy little cottage with stunning views of the cape and excellent beach combing opportunities!
Chasity S. Sep 2016
Beautiful views with a private beach
Sarice B. Aug 2016
The hot tub and fire pit were really nice and the location/access to the beach cannot be beat. Unfortunately, this property needs a deep, deep cleaning. Bring your own linens. We had to go back to Tillamook to buy pillows/linens/blankets at Fred Meyer since the ones on the beds were too disgusting to sleep in.

Manager response:
We are sorry to see that the cleanliness was not very well addressed for this reservation. The Property Manager has since supervised a deep clean of the home and has removed all linens that didn't look or smell clean after being freshly laundered.
Stephanie H. Aug 2016
My son and I recently stayed at your beach front cottage to celebrate my birthday. We had planned on driving to other towns and exploring the area, but when we got up each morning and sat on the deck, with the fabulous views, we would both say that we just wanted to stay at the cottage and enjoy the ocean view and the peace and tranquility. We were never bored! We would take our lawn chairs down to the edge of the grass and sit and relax most of the day. Then we would go back to the house and grill a delicious meal. Everything we needed to prepare a great meal was provided. The bedding and towels were great quality. The only down side was the beach access. It is pretty difficult, though a short distance. I had knee replacement a couple of years ago, so footing is important. However, there is public access not far away. So, not a huge problem. It was very private and the beach itself was not crowded at all. We had a wonderful time. I went back to Wyoming relaxed and my son went back to his busy job in Portland totally rejuvenated. Thanks for sharing this lovely jewel with us.
Derrick T. Aug 2016
If you're looking to get away, this is the place. The views from the deck/yard are incredible! You're seconds away from a nice walk on the beach or a hike in the woods.
Jere F. Jun 2016
We've stayed here each of the last 5 years and love this spot.
Sean H. Jun 2016
The first thing I noticed, was the house did not smell like dogs. We have stayed at many places in the past that have a pet smell. The view is fantastic, the location could not have been better, we enjoyed the fire pit and the hot tub every night ( The hot tub cover is quite heavy and difficult for smaller people to remove on their own). Be sure to bring your own wood as there was none for us to use. Although it's right on the beach, you do still have to climb down slightly rocky bluff, difficult for younger children or anyone with any level of arthritis. The dog had no problem. The beach was empty, high tide in front of the house gets rid of most of the sand however lowtide you have a very expensive beach almost to yourself even on memorial day weekend. The furnishings were simple, but adequate. We were able to do some cooking, there is a very functional dishwasher, as well as laundry machine and dryer. We never really used the television. The furniture is a little outdated but that's fine for us with a pet. One disappointment was having to unload a dishwasher full of dishes upon our arrival, I thought we pay a cleaning fee for a reason? Overall satisfied, decent price, we would go back.
Mary F. May 2016
We were thrilled with our stay. THe property is clean, cozy and set in an amazingly beuatiful location. Although there is much to do and explore in the area, we found it hard to tear ourselves away from our own stunning view. We loved the hot tub and the fire pit, the rental company even left s'more fixins, which was a nice touch. There was plenty of space for two couples. THe only thing is the creaky floor. When you are downstairs the upper floor creaks with every footfall of people upstairs. When I read this I really thought people were just being whiny, but it really is loud. Do not let this dissued you from staying at this magical property. You just have to plan who is up and down stairs based on sleep schedule. We were all on the same schedule so it was really a non-issue. This place is magical and I can't wait to come back
Mary F. May 2016
The house is clean and pleasant. The ocean view is amazing! The walk down to the beach from the yard is tricky, but worth it.
CoCo D. Apr 2016
This was the best birthday weekend I've ever enjoyed! It was restful, fun and invigorating all at the same time. The fire pit and the hot tub were a fabulous addition. We had planned going out and about but enjoyed the property so much, we spend most of the time right there at house and the beach. What a view!!!
Bonnie B. Mar 2016
Very nice location. Great view. Very clean. Never could connect to Internet.
Lauren W. Mar 2016
If you are looking for peace and quiet, this rental is the perfect retreat. My husband and I enjoyed the beautiful ocean views from the balcony and were very comfortable in the Shoreline Cottage.
This rental is perfect if you are looking to unplug and enjoy a quiet vacation, but if you are hoping to catch up on some work, this may not be the best property for you. Cell service is extremely limited and despite our best trouble shooting efforts, the wifi did not work for us at any point during our stay.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and hope to be able to come back again.
Justin B. Feb 2016
Great house and location but the WiFi signal was terrible, barely worked. We tried 4 devices without luck. I was hoping to sit, overlooking the ocean and hear the waves in the dining room while catching up on some work. Although WiFi signal even sitting next to the router was awful. Recommend removing WiFi as a listed amenity for this property, buying new router or getting rid of centurylink. Overall, I enjoyed the house and stay. But I need access to WiFi often times for work so this house is not an option again in future.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review. We are very sorry to see that the WiFi worked so poorly during your stay. The Property Manager has been informed and will be looking into the situation. We are glad to see that you were otherwise happy with the home!
Jonathan M. Nov 2015
Loved the house, but if you're a light sleeper you might want to sleep upstairs...the upper level floor creeks quite a bit when someone moves around up there. Great beach in front of the place, not the most beachcomber memorabilia, but at the same time...really clean and nice sand. And the caves on this side of the head are really cool even though they are only accessible during a short low tide window. The short days left limited time on the beach, but the cold clear nights were perfect for stargazing around a fire and (I wish) sitting in a hot tub.
Tony O. Aug 2015
The beach is beautiful, but the property is dated and quite overpriced for what it is.
Manager response:
We are disappointed to see that you did not better enjoy the home. We shared your comments with the property manager and the owner and are so happy to announce that the home has been updated since your stay! We hope you enjoyed the great view while relaxing in the hot tub. Thank you again for staying with us.
Charlie H. Aug 2015
Beautiful surroundings, very quiet and peaceful area. The beach area was desolate and empty, meaning you had "the beach to yourself". Our family just loved it.
John O. Jun 2015
We were extremely happy with this property although it may not be right for everyone.

PROS:

Views!
Proximity to the beach
Privacy
Security
Very Comfy Beds and Linens
Feel and Vibe of the home and property
Fire Pit
Hot Tub
Pet Friendly
Amenities
DVR/DVD selection
Balcony
Clean and Inviting

CONS:

Not so good for multiple families considering the creaky upper floorboards. We would recommend for single families only.

WIFI. Speeds and stability need to be increased... If this matters to you... If you want to be off the grid then this does not apply :)

SUMMARY:
Completely recommended for a single couple with small pets and/or children!
Tillamook is about 15 min away for all of your great seafood restaurants and resources. Bring wood and food and you will pretty much be set for a relaxing, rewarding coastal vacation!

Shawn S. May 2015
This place is a hidden gem! This was our first experience breaking from the routine of staying at hotels during vacation. We were looking for something clean, close, on the the water...this place had it all. We knew we had found a new favorite when both the kids and adults were all in agreement that we would be back again soon! Only thing that could have made this better is about another 10 degrees warmer temperature!
Jennifer R. Apr 2015
This House was amazing! The views were spectacular and the home very cozy. We had a few rainy days but got to enjoy a few sunny days which we visited some nearby towns!!! Great trip. Would definitely go back!!!
Manager response:
We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay! We hope that you reach out to us next time you are looking for a home away from home.
Richard P. Apr 2015
The weather was great for this time of year, really enjoyed no wind! The beach is very quite and great for walking. We met four big Eagles, one Bald and three Golden , one morning. Saw otters playing inf the surf and whales breaching from the dining table. Very comfortable
Courtney P. Mar 2015
We have stayed at this beach house for three consecutive spring breaks and we would absolutely stay here for many more. We love the proximity to the beach, the layout of the house and everything included. The beds are comfortable and home is inviting. The home feels secluded but is close enough to Tillamook if need be. The beach offers plenty with tide pools, sea shell/rock hunting and on a perfect day, a dip in the ocean. We absolutely love this house, location and everything in the area.
Amy T. Mar 2015
Beautiful location and overlook with very comfortable beds and place was very clean on arrival. The kitchen is very small and was well stocked but didn't have any baking dishes at all - just pans and cookie sheets. Just a FYI as the last house we rented through Vacasa had absolutely everything. The firepit and hot tub were definite plusses, and the beach rarely had more than a few people on it. Kids, dogs and parents all had a great time and voted we would go back again.
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your review with us. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in this lovely beachfront home! It is certainly in a great location with beautiful surroundings. We are glad that you felt it is a perfect spot for everyone, including the pups, to unwind and spend some quality time together. We appreciate your comments very much and we will reach out to the owners about providing some more baking dishes to make guests' experiences even better. We look forward to seeing you again!
Amy D. Feb 2015
My husband and I had a great time in Cape Meares. The house was exactly what we were looking for in a get away. I would highly recommend it.
Jacob M. Jan 2015
We were so thrilled that a) Cape Meares was so quiet, pristine, and tucked away, b) our cabin was as well, and c) we had the best weather in JANUARY for the duration of our stay! Our property was well situated and the gorgeous photos here don't even do the view justice. The hot tub is an invaluable bonus to this place, as well as the deck and the fire pit. The kitchen is well stocked so you don't even need to leave this paradise! The place had everything we needed and more. We were welcomed by a s'mores kit (mmm!) and the quaint charm of a darling beach cabin in a sleepy neighborhood. Cannot beat the view! Thank you for such a remarkable stay!
Catherine P. Jan 2015
Wonderful location and space for 2 couple to enjoy a couple of days at the coast
Manager response:
Thank you for this great review. We are so glad that you enjoyed the location and great views.
Terra W. Dec 2014
My husband and I spent the most wonderful and relaxing Christmas EVER here!!! This home is lovely, clean and cozy with a view to DIE for. The yard is absolutely beautiful and the hot tub under the stars is definitely a selling point. Very safe area. Cape Meares is charming with a short drive to Tillamook for any supplies you might need. Beach is beautiful and feels secluded. Woodstove on the second level keeps things very warm and cozy. Walkout bedroom on the lower level was great. If you are on the fence about deciding on a place to stay, I highly recommend staying HERE. My only suggestion/complaint is the kitchen faucet needs to be replaced, probably worn out from regular use. It was very leaky. Thank you for the wonderful vacation experience, we will be back!
Alan H. Nov 2014
By the time the fees were added in this was the most expensive place I have ever stayed. I'm not sure if it was worth $300+ per night, but if I ignored the price I was very happy. The location is remote, although there is a "no services" group of perhaps a hundred homes in the proximity.
Anita S. Aug 2014
This is a very comfortable house with good beds and bedding. The hot tub is small but the temperature was great and the view of the ocean from it was fabulous. The kitchen is small but well stocked with cooking gear. There's not much storage, other than the refrigerator, for food but everything was very clean and worked. We enjoyed the fire-pit and the complementary smores makings.
Anita S. Aug 2014
This is a wonderful place to spend time at. The hot tub is small but the temperature was great, and the view spectacular. The kitchen is small and offers very little places for food storage other than the refrigerator but is very well stocked with most everything you need to make a meal. The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. The fire pit and basket of complimentary smore making was appreciated and used. Great time!
Ann M. Jul 2014
Our two families had a lovely relaxing time at Cape Meares. The beach behind this house is quite private, rarely more than a handful of people on the beach. If you walk north, you will find yourself quite alone. The house was clean and in good repair. The hot tub was modern and comfortable. The kitchen worked out well for breakfast and snacks. We enjoyed dinners out at the local restaurants. Roseanna's in Oceanside was our favorite.
Nancy S. Jul 2014
If you want to enjoy a beautiful view, the sounds of the ocean, and wonderful seclusion, you'll love this place. This home is cozy and well-provisioned. The beach is long and inviting, great for dog-walking, or just thinking and appreciating nature. This is not a tourist trap town, no stores, or restaurants, but necessities like groceries are just 10 minutes away in Tillamook. Fabulous.
Andrea Z. Jun 2014
really beautiful location, and we loved staring out the window at the view. dog & 2 y/o were in heaven!
Denise D. May 2014
The owners left handmade, local soaps in the bathrooms as well as a smores kit. We had an amazing time, and will be back!
Manager response:
WE're happy that you enjoyed the soaps and smores! We hope to see you again!
Steffani G. Apr 2014
We loved that the beach was so close. The steps down the beach can be slippery but manageable if careful. The house was very clean and comfortable. Loved the views from house! A very relaxing and quiet getaway for the whole family. No cell service with AT&T-which was perfect for us! Would love to have separate beach towels for hot tub/beach. Hope to come back again!
Manager response:
Thanks for this great feedback. Its helpful to know about the AT&T cell service. For some this is a deal breaker but for others its a great opportunity to unplug and relax.
Rebecca B. Mar 2014
The house is set up a little oddly, the kitchen is really small, and the dishwasher is the tinniest I have ever seen, so if you cook a large meal or use a lot of dishes, clean-up could be a challenge. If you are a wine connoisseur then bring your own wine classes, the ones at the house are strange. The view is outstanding! Cant be beat! There is a little deferred maintenance at the house, a door wouldn't lock and an outlet by the bed didn't work.
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your review! We are working to resolve the maintenance items you mentioned regarding the sliding glass door and the outlets. Thank you for your constructive feedback and we would love another opportunity to impress you!
Catherine J. Mar 2014
We very much enjoyed our visit to Shoreline Cottage in Cape Meares. The home was very comfortable, clean and pleasant. The access to the beach was a little difficult as the stairs were somewhat broken up. We especially liked the big open grassy area for our dog. She absolutely loved the whole experience. It is a quiet retreat and we would not hesitate to stay there again.
Elaine L. Jan 2014
My husband and I along with our dog had such a wonderful time, This part of the coast is so much more remote feeling then Cannon Beach. You really feel like you are away from it all but if you need a store Tillimook is just a few minutes away. Our timing on the weather was perfect as it was sunny, beautiful and in the 50's. Not to bad for the first week of January. The view is so incredible from the house that even if it had been stormy it would have been great to watch the waves. As it was, I never tired of watching the changing colors in the sky especially at sunset. The beach is to die for. Our dog enjoyed taking us on long walks. Hot tub was relaxing for watching the stars at night and the beach and waves in the morning. We had contact with the property manage for one small issue and they where very quick to help. The place was perfectly clean and as advertised. It would be defiantly large enough for two couples. I only wish we could have had a tad later check out as we where not ready to go by 11 without feeling rushed out door. Then again, we didn't want to go at all so any check out time would not have made it perfect! We loved every moment and can't wait to go back.
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your fantastic review with us. We really do appreciate it. We are glad the home and area met your expectations and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Also, please note for a small fee you can add a late check-out that allows you to leave the property anytime before 12 am that day. However, it is subject to availability of course. Just give us a call and we'll let you know!
Susan U. Jan 2014
This house has an amazing view from the house and easy access to a spectacular beach. If you are looking to be right on the beach, this is a great place to stay.
Marlene W. Dec 2013
We had an excellent time, the view is breathtaking. We loved watching the waves. The house is quaint and charming. We will be back!!!!
Manager response:
We look forward to seeing you next time!
Christine W. Dec 2013
We had a great weekend with a Christmas tree, fire @ great food!
Keely H. Nov 2013
We had a great stay. We were prepared for a weekend of family time indoors watching the waves from the house, but the weather was so fantastic we got to enjoy the outdoors as well. House was right on the beach, and as other reviews mention, the beach access is a little rocky, but the public access is just a few houses down and a bit easier. We had everything we needed for preparing meals. And there was a great view from every room. Cape Meares is a small town, nice and quiet, but close to Tillamook for groceries, and other coastal attractions (like the Cape Meares lighthouse), to make it fun for all types of vacations.
Manager response:
Thanks for sharing your review and thoughts about your stay with us. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the area around Cape Meares and we very much appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again sometime soon.
Debbie H. Nov 2013
we really enjoyed our stay at Cape Meares. the house was very warm, with or without the wood stove and we used both. we had everything we needed for cooking ,the kitchen was well equipped and the weber bbq was brand new there was quite a lot of dvds for movie buffs to watch .the only things that I would critique was the patio door slider downstairs was difficult to open and close due to wheel adj. and the floors were very squeaky when someone would be upstairs but it was okay for us since there were only the two of us it was not an issue.the bed downstairs was very comfortable and the beach was fabulous where you can walk endlessly. the hot tub was very nice and clean on a cold clear starry night, we had a wonderful time and we would definitely consider staying again.
Manager response:
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us about your wonderful stay. We are happy that everything worked out so well and hope to see you again soon.
Kathy A. Oct 2013
Beautiful location right on the beach. Can walk directly to the ocean. Pet friendly. Really enjoyed it.
Julie L. Oct 2013
The view from the hot tub at the end of each day made this vacation home unforgettable. The house is tucked away from the full impact of the ocean wind. Ten minutes from Tillamook made for easy grocery shopping. Cheese products from the factory and fresh seafood from the stand across from the factory made fore some delicious meals.

My wife and I run and own a very busy restaurant and wanted to take a little break for our anniversary. We looked into going to the coast but, we had some requirements. It needed to be pet friendly, done. It needed to have WI-FI, done. It needed to be on or close to the beach, done. It needed to have a hot tub, done and it needed to have a grill outside, done. We were so pleased with our stay! Very relaxing, mostly because the cellphone reception is limited and the TV was very limited. We watched movies, played board games, cooked and took fantastic walks on the very large beach. I wish the hot tub was hotter and they need to fix the blinds on the doors, but all that is pretty petty stuff. Totally worth every dollar! We will be back!
Manager response:
Thanks for your great review. We are glad we could help you relax a little bit and allow you to enjoy your anniversary. We will also take a look into the the hot tub and door blinds that you mention. Thanks for sharing. See you again soon!

We had a great time and would visit again. We enjoyed a perfect mix of relaxing, watching our kids build sandcastles on the beach and visiting fun sites around town. Highly recommend going to see the old planes at the air museum!

Will most definitely be back again. The views are spectacular and is exceptionally peaceful and relaxing in the small community. Beach access from the property is a bit precarious, but public access is just a few houses down and much easier. Were prepared for the squeaky floors so not a big issue for us. Can't beat the beach, sea life, raccoons and elk for entertainment. We barely turned on the tv and certainly never wanted to leave. Thanks again, for sharing this fabulous home!

My husband and I, our dogs, our daughter and our granddaughter had a wonderful vacation here! The tide-pool to the left of the house is awesome for finding tiny hermit crabs, starfish, etc... It was nice that a beach bucket and shovel was provided. The location on the beach is excellent as it is the 2nd to last house on the end (semi-secluded) and the miles of uncrowded/or empty beach was awesome for long walks with our dogs. Our dogs LOVED the place. The fire pit is excellent: we brought our own wood and spent every evening out there with a glass of wine by the fire. The hot tub was wonderful for warming up our little granddaughter after hours playing in the ocean. We wished we had brought a kite, as there was lots of room and wind to fly one. DVD player did not work, (not an issue for the adults, but the 5 year old was disappointed that she couldn't watch E.T. ) . Internet connection is not always working, so just know that if you are depending on it. Luckily it worked the day before our daughter's flight so that we could check-in online. Make sure you confirm that the coffee pot and grill have been replaced before you come, so that you know whether or not to bring your own from home. Also, ask if charcoal is covered so that you know whether or not to bring your own. (Wet charcoal won't work). There is no air-conditioner. You might want to bring your own oscillating fan for air movement if that's an issue for you. Bungy the trash cans to stand upright and make sure the lids are also bungied down/secured, otherwise the wind will blow them over, if the raccoons don't, and you will be woken up in the middle of the night by both. The big green yard was nice for our dogs, and our little granddaughter loved the plants/garden area and sat in it like a little artist, sketching pictures. It was a beautiful scene.
Manager response:
Thank you for your thorough review. We are happy that you had such a wonderful time with your family and dogs. We will certainly take a look into the issues you had including the DVD player and Internet connection. Thank you again for sharing and we hope to welcome you to one of our homes again in the future!

This was a perfect romantic weekend getaway for two extremely busy parents. The house was perfect for us.

I know there have been a lot of comments about the squeaky floors upstairs over the downstairs bedroom, but it is really impressively loud. Even with ear plugs, the person downstairs was awakened with walking overhead. As it is the kitchen and dining room directly overhead, it's hard to avoid. It's just good to be aware of this before hand and try to do what works best for your party. Otherwise, we loved everything about it.

In the 2 days and nights that we stayed in the house, we had fun using everything there was to offer; hot tub, back deck with table and barbecue, fire pit area, somewhat private beach, bench overlooking beach and nice cottage inside. At one point we had the whole stretch of beach (it's very large) to ourselves! Very quiet area even though there are houses very near by (which are mainly vacation houses, as well).
Manager response:
Thank you for your review! Cape Meares is a rarity in that you can still have the beach to yourself in the summer - we are glad you had a great experience and we hope to have you back soon!
Tamara J. Jun 2013
The weather was going to be cool and breezy at times so a hot tub by the ocean seemed the perfect answer. Old friends hanging out and catching up. House was great. Everything you need- blender, hairdryer... beach right outside. Hot tub was not hot when we got there and took the first evening to heat up. But it was fantastic the next morning!
Manager response:
Thank you for your review! We are glad you had a great time and we will make sure the hot tub service is checking the temperature as well as the cleanliness as some guests turn the temperature down during their stay. Thanks again!

Beautiful spot, relaxed company, great weekend!
Manager response:
Thank you for your kind review - we look forward to having you back!

Our visit to Cape Meares was just what we were looking for in a quick get-a-way. The beach is absolutely fantastic! We loved being able to bring our dog and the hot tub was fantastic.

One recommendation is to bring your own movies since there aren't any on site and some matches for the wood stove and fire pit.

As other guests have suggested, light sleepers should not sleep downstairs. The floor creaks a lot.

Overall, we had a fantastic time and will definitely keep this one on our list to come back to!

This house is wonderful. It was clean when we got there. We had two kids and our dog with us. My wife and I took the downstairs and the kids took the upstairs. We really liked the layout with the upstairs main living area, kitchen with the deck just outside the slider. The hot tub was excellent and big enough for the four of us to enjoy comfortably. What we liked most about the house was the very spacious backyard leading to the beach. The large yard was a nice place for the kids and our dog to play. The beach is just a short walk down some steps from the yard. Our kids liked playing in the driftwood along the beach and looking for rocks. We went to the beach early in the morning (about 8:00) and the tide at that time was super low and we had easy access to a really cool tide pool about a quarter mile or so south of the house. My dog also loved going to the beach in the mornings as we had the entire Cape Meares beach to ourselves. The beach is pretty secluded which we liked. The location of the house is terrific. The house is close to Tillamook and the cheese factories and petting zoo (at Blue Heron). It is also close to the Cape Meares lighthouse and just a short drive along the beautiful Three Capes scenic route down to Pacific City. I'm a cyclist and I brought my bike with us and I did about a 49 mile loop starting at the house, around Tillamook, down 101 and back up through the Three Capes scenic route. This house has everything. We will be staying here again.

We had a great stay! The house was clean, well appointed, and you just can't beat the beautiful and quiet setting. I would say this rental is BEST for 1 or 2 couples that go to bed at the same time. The floor squeaking is excessively noisy downstairs. (Additionally, with only a bottom floor entrance, the floorplan makes it such that you can only access outside through the extra sleeping area... which may or may not be a problem. It just happened to be a problem for us with some light sleepers that we didn't want to wake, which left us feeling a touch caged in at times! Wish there had been a staircase down from the deck!) However, with all that said and done, everything else is SO amazing that I would still highly recommend this house.
Lauren S. Mar 2013
I loved how secluded the house was, and the amenities were great. The only issue was that the upstairs floor was very creaky, and I am a light sleeper, so the downstairs bedroom was an issue. But as long as everyone goes to bed at approximately the same time, the noise shouldn't be a problem.
Manager response:
We are so sorry that the squeaky floor disrupted your sleep! This older home does have that certain character and charm but you're right, with proper timing, it shouldn't really be an issue. We are glad you enjoyed your stay regardless!
Ashley P. Nov 2012
Enjoyed the location and views from the living room. The kitchen was well equipped (we were able to cook a multi-course Thanksgiving meal!) and the care package for making Smores was a nice touch. The beds were more comfortable than expected in a rental property.
The kitchen drain under the sink came loose and spilled water on the floor - we were able to fix temporarily though this needs to be addressed.
Janice T. Oct 2012
It was raining when we arrived, but woke up next morning to lovely, sunny weather. The great weather continued for 3 days. Rain didn't begin again until the morning of our departure.
Enjoyed walks on the beach, and meeting friendly, local people.
Dorothy M. Sep 2012
Great spot on the Oregon Coast - Tillamook has everything you might need, Midway between Cannon Beach and Dunes @ Florence. Very well equipped place, beach is awesome, sunset spectacular. The most scenic drive on the Oregon Coast starts almost at the end of the driveway.
Suzanne N. Aug 2012
The house is cozy, the spa relaxing , the wood stove and fire pit inviting, the yard park like, the beach a blast, but the view is just awesome!! Bring your food and there's no reason to wandering farther than the tide pools.
Robert L. May 2012
This place was just that. Breathtaking views upstairs and down. It was great to be able to bring our dog- I think she had the best time out of all of us. Miles of beach to ourselves. For ppl that don't own or have never used a hottub it wold have been nice to know how long it takes to heat up, but we were in no prob the 2nd day. Thank u so much I only have one question- when r u selling because I would live there!
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, we will add instructions related to the hot tub as usually it heats up pretty quick but it is best to turn it up when you first arrive to the desire temperature.
Sara S. May 2012
The cottage was clean, had a great layout, and was everything we hoped for. The path down to the ocean is very difficult for anyone with small children, but very much worth the trek. This section of the beach is quiet and beautiful... The only down side to the cabin is the management team. We had issues with maintenance and had to call in because the washer wasn't working. Each time we called, we waited two hours for a callback that never came. Called in again and there was a new person on the line who had no record of our previous call. They never did get it fixed while we were there. Ended up wearing dirty, wet clothes home with not even an apology from the management team. We will still be renting this cabin again, but this time we'll bring lots of extra clothes!!
Manager response:
We are so sorry that we weren't able to repair the washer during your stay. Our staff is responsive and customer-service oriented, but unfortunately large appliance repair does tend to take a bit more time to facilitate. We're so glad to hear you enjoyed the home!
Beth C. Apr 2012
I would recommend this place WITH a few reservations
Manager response:
Thank you for your review and the suggestion on the floor, we will pass the information on to the owner.
Tara M. Feb 2012
The location of the house was better than expected. It was absolutey beautiful and so peaceful. We will be staying here again for sure!
Sherry H. Feb 2012
This sweet little cottage is a great place to go with friends. Two bedrooms, one up, and one down.......hot tub under the stars.......nice kitchen......we laughed and danced and listened to the ocean and left all worries at the doorstep for the weekend. It was a blast. Also - on the other side of the coin - there is plenty of space and opportunity for meditation and reflection.....,right out the door.....God's masterpiece - wow.
Shannon M. Jan 2012
Home is oceanfront and has path on property directly to beach. Cape Meares is a favorite coastal retreat - both for its beauty and solitude.
Daniel M. Oct 2011
The Shoreline Cottage was perfect. Snuggly and wonderful location in Cape Meares. We walked the beach several times a day and each time was breathtaking with the clouds and birds and crashing waves at our feet.
Shanley L. Oct 2011
We loved the comfort of the king bed.
Annie A. Aug 2011
We love it there! The area feels very private and comfortable. The beach is breathtaking. If you need, shopping is close.
ryan h. Apr 2011
Very nice place, awesome view, the hot tub could have been bigger, just big enough for two, but if that's all I have to complain about then it must have been great! Thanks guys
Elsbeth M. Mar 2011
The location, the layout, and the amenities make this spot a gem. Unfortunately, a neighbor's ugly trailer spoils a "perfect" view but that was easily overshadowed by the beauty of this location. We'll be back!
Laura M. Mar 2011
We enjoyed our trip to Cape Meares. The cottage has a beautiful view of the ocean and the cottage itself is nice.
The access to the beach is challenging, so you must be very able-bodied to make it down. The beach is shallow, so the time it is usable is very limited. During low tide, there are some tide pools nearby, which was fun.
Tina E. Mar 2011
My family had a fabulous time in this house. I am very fussy about cleanliness, so having a super clean house to walk into was nice. The heaters were fast to heat up rooms, so it was nice to feel the heat after coming in from the cool spring weather or from the hot tub. A little scary event that happened, after being in the house just 4 days after the Japan earthquake and the tsunami threats that hit the west coast, we heard the sirens go off for a few seconds and then again for a few seconds. In a frantic, we called the caretakers, apparently every 2nd Monday of the month, there is a siren test. Unfortunately, nowhere in the house did it say that, it would have been very helpful to have that information posted on the refrigerator or by the phone. Also, having the house super clean, we added an additional night to our stay, this is a house of choice for us, and we will definitely stay again.
Ellen B. Mar 2011
Roof leaked, dripped all night.
Toilet ran on and off all night.
Once they get these fixed, the place is fantastic!
Manager response:
Thanks for letting us know about those issues, we'll have our handyman take care of them!
Chad C. Feb 2011
We truly had exactly the vacation experience we had hoped for. The accommodations, amenities (hot tub!) and location on the beach were fantastic. We can't wait to return this spring!
John S. Feb 2011
just what we were looking for. thanks for the last minute reservation. the only bad comment I would say is that the carpets had allot of pet hair on them. That and the cork opener was broken. We replaced it for the next guest. Thanks again. we will definitely rent again.
Manager response:
I am very sorry to hear about the pet hair. That is unacceptable - we will follow up with our housekeeper on that. Thanks for the feedback, and I'm glad to hear your stay was otherwise great. Thanks, Eric
Randy S. Jan 2011
My wife spent a couple days at this beach house and really enjoyed it. Great location with a wonderful view of the ocean and good beach access. It is also Close to some good hiking trails and in a quiet low traffic neighborhood. My only complaint is they need to replace the hot tun cover. The thing is very water logged and very heavy. Otherwise had a great stay, thanks.
Cat L. Jan 2011
Fantastic beach view, wonderful hot tub. Nice setup for two couples.
Megan B. Jan 2011
The house was perfectly situated on the beach and the manager was great in getting us in at the last moment. It was very comfortable and we had a great time.
James L. Jan 2011
Great place! Wonderful views.
Mary Lee T. Dec 2010
A little difficult to find at first but when we did it was worth the trip. Beautiful location, views and a great little house. The home has everything you need and is very comfortable. I would go back again!
Andrea A. Jul 2010
This is a beautiful home with an incredible view and private access to the beach. Loved sitting in the hot tub and watching the waves. Fully equipped kitchen and beds are extremely comfortable. Only drawback is the required drive to a store or restaurant.
Cathy C. Jul 2010
The house is lovely and has many amenities. We brought too much stuff with us! Everything was clean, orderly, and comfortable. The view is spectacular with great beach access for the able bodied. Kitchen is fully equipped, hot tub is nice and easy to use, and the fire pit is great. I highly recommend this property and can't wait to go back.
Marlene R. Jun 2010
This is a spectacular place, both the house and the location. The web site does not do it justice.
