Mid-century home w/floor-to-ceiling windows - great views!

Stay at a modern, mid-century, one-bedroom Coos Bay vacation rental meant for getting away from it all and enjoying vibrant sunsets or quiet evenings relaxing in front of a toasty fire!

With gorgeous, panoramic views from the patio, as well as an amazing great room with two-story windows, this Oregon Coast getaway sits about six miles from downtown Coos Bay and about 12 miles from beach access at Shore Acres State Park - it's a retreat in the true sense of the word.

Vibrant Coos Bay is a deep water port, where the Coos River flows towards the Pacific Ocean. It's a favorite destination for fishing, crabbing, clamming, whale watching, and sandy beaches. Fabulous salmon, steelhead, and ocean fishing abounds. And while you'll be a bit east of town and the coast, you're in warmer country, and an easy car ride away from all the activities that Coos Bay offers!

Spend the morning on the patio with a cup of coffee before a hike out on the nearby Blue Ridge Trail. In the evenings, snuggle in front of the wood burning fireplace for some downtime reading a book or soaking up cool coastal air. This gorgeous, open space boasts forested views out the immense windows, comfortable leather furniture, and an open floor plan, sharing space with a large dining room table.

Preparing meals here will be easy and fun! The bright and well-stocked kitchen has everything you could ever want for any culinary project you could dream up! You'll have all major appliances, a large kitchen island with stools, a coffee grinder, French press, espresso maker, mixer, blender, slow cooker, and even a waffle iron. Foodies and those who love to cook and bake will fall in love with this Coos Bay retreat based on this well-stocked and bright space alone!

A kitchen table is ideal for breakfasts and snacks, while colorful, modern wall art gives the space a whimsical vibe. The outdoor patio runs along the outside of the great room and has plenty of spots to admire the view, grill up some steaks, or sit outside with your sketchbook or travel journal.

There's a loft that looks down over the main floor with a second seating area. Here's where you'll find the TV and DVD player (there's cable as well, and WiFi access). Pop some popcorn and head up here for a movie night! The spacious loft area also contains a queen sized bed. The bedroom has an additional queen bed and large windows for natural light. Up to four guests can enjoy a memorable getaway at this unique Coos Bay vacation home.

Additional amenities include a large soaking tub in one of the two full bathrooms, a laundry room with ironing board, sink, and a full-sized washer and dryer, and lovely, lush outdoor landscaping! This home even has a EV car charging station for the electric car drivers.

When you're not enjoying the peace and solitude of your Forest Ridge retreat, both Coos Bay and North Bend offer historic downtown districts filled with shops, galleries, and restaurants. There's a boardwalk with a city dock, bike trails through town, and interesting architecture with many buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Museums include the Coos Art Museum and the Historical and Maritime Center. The historic Egyptian Theater awaits, greeting you with golden pharaohs. And in summer, there's both the Oregon Coast Music Festival and the Blackberry Arts Festival with local arts, crafts, and food. And for gorgeous ocean views, it's hard to beat Shore Acres State Park!

This amazing Oregon Coast vacation rental is a mid-century gem offering a forested retreat in Coos Bay, just to the east of the city and ocean beaches. Come to relax and recharge, while you explore the wild and beautiful Southern Oregon Coast!

Ambra L. Oct 2020
Absolutely incredible home with really, really gorgeous views. I'm giving it a high rating despite having plumbing issues because Vacasa took care of it, but the septic cannot handle when the bathtub is used upstairs. Hopefully this gets fixed and this house would be pretty perfect. The plumbing issue doesn't affect the views at all 🤩🤩
Manager response:
Ambra, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you experienced some plumbing issues during your visit. We are happy to say that the plumbing issues have been taken care of. We hope to host you again in the future.
Catalina H. Sep 2020
Bright with nice architectural details provided as space for our family to relax.
Eugene K. Sep 2020
Had very restful time in the beautiful house
Paul W. Sep 2020
Very quiet! Loved the house, but hated the smoke from the wildfires. Can't wait to come back when we can see.
Sally W. Sep 2020
Fabulous location - quite remote but close to town. Gorgeous views - we ate every meal on the patio to soak up the view of the valley surrounded by lovely landscaping. The house was well equipped and lovely peaceful to spend evenings by the fireplace reading and enjoying view of the night sky from the living room. We took advantage of great local hikes and golfing at Bandon Dunes - only a 25 minute drive. We would return to this place if we are back in this area.
Ivy T. Aug 2020
This house is definitely away from it all. We loved it. It’s so spacious for a small family of 2-4. We also loved the vintage 80’s vibes. The kitchen & bathroom plumbing fixtures are dated and could use some tlc, we let management know, but we didn’t let it interrupt our enjoyment of this property. If you’re from the city like us and want to enjoy quiet and seclusion, this place is wonderful. The internet is slow, so take a break from your devices. The beds are very comfortable as well as the living room couches. Day trips along the coast are easy and scenic 30 min drive. This house is a retro gem in the forest.
Jan M. Aug 2020
The view and the house is beautiful. Very clean inside but the patio furnitures were really dusty, rusty, and covered with spider webs. There is no air conditioner, just a furnace with heater. It gets very hot in the afternoon and at night. We had to open all the windows to cool the house down. You have to bring coffee and sugar, but they do have some spices in the kitchen.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your home. Thank you for sharing your feedback and for bringing some items to our attention that may need some TLC. I have forwarded your feedback to the local staff so they can work to improve the house for future guests. Please know that our guest services team is available 24 hours a day to assist should any concerns arise during your visit. We hope you choose to stay with us again!
Michelle C. Mar 2020
This house is so beautiful! When I walked in and saw the view all I could say is wow. It is so relaxing and peaceful in the home and it has everything you need for your stay. My husband and I are definitely going to plan another trip here.
richard w. Mar 2020
Sunsets, with a cozy fire, some wine and music . Living in a big city, this was the perfect house for relaxing and getting away from everything. The price was not much more then a hotel room and was well worth the couple extra dollars. I will be booking this house for all my future trips.
Matthew M. Feb 2020
Located near the largest city on the Oregon Coast (Coos Bay), this home manages to keep a distance from the trivial urban setting just below the foothills. We visited over Valentine's Day weekend and loved it. With most rental properties soaring above $300 a night, gems like these are becoming more and more scarce. However, if you're up for a road trip, this is the place you want to arrive. Overall, a great place to stay at a reasonable price. We will be back soon enough!
Note to Future Renters: this home is stocked with all the cooking supplies you could ever need. From multiple toasters to two waffle irons, you won't have an issue finding what you need. That said, very few spices, oils, or other condiments are available. As in, bring what you need for spicing things up.
Note to Management: The back glass door sticks and is challenging to open. The blinds do not fully shut, and some of the outdoor lights are burnt out. For the sake of security/privacy, I would replace the bulbs, remove the dog door, and fix the blinds.
Manager response:
Hi, Matthew! Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay. The property manager will be replacing any burnt out bulbs. The blinds are an unusual situation due to the size of the windows, but the owner is not concerned about this since the home is secluded. The doggie door is locked shut. We hope to see you again!
Sean C. Jan 2020
I was in Coos Bay for work and wanted to stay somewhere calm and quiet during my down time. This home was a perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day. Would definitely stay here again.
Anna F. Oct 2019
We loved the scenic panoramic view, the well appointed kitchen, the openness of the home, and the amazing seclusion.
Cory E. Sep 2019
Nice
Craig D. Sep 2019
Very nice modern home located in the hills outside Coos Bay. That's an unusual combination, but it worked well. We visited during the start of the rains, so we enjoyed the home more than we expected. We were much happier there than we would've been cooped up in a cheap motel room in "town."
Kristi S. Aug 2019
The home is amazing, the views are amazing. This home was so comfortable, we loved every minute. Nice and clean, comfortable beds, nice kitchen and family room.
Mike T. Aug 2019
So many cool things to do in house and the many special touches made our time there very special, we all hated to leave. Thank you for making us feel at home!
Forman H. Jul 2019
This was a great find a mini-Hollywood mansion high up on the crest of a hill overlooking a valley. Great place for comfort and seclusion. Kitchen was a dream for cooking and the living room was so comfortable. Second bed is not great for privacy or light control.
Denise B. Jul 2019
My son and I had a lovely time at your place. The architecture is stunning as you can see in the photo. It's even nicer on the inside. It was far enough from town, and felt "deep in the woods" making us feel secluded. So this is an ideal place if you want to get away from the city.
I can't recommend this place any higher if you want first-rate accommodations.
Sahar C. Jul 2019
Great private home. Clean and comfy.
Lynn G. Jun 2019
The location of this house is simply gorgeous, and the house itself is beautiful. We have visited twice and never want to leave once we arrive.
Tiziana D. Jun 2019
Great house with great views. Away from the crowed. The house was very clean and perfect for a getaway.
Denise C. May 2019
Absolutely fell in love with this home. It’s beautifully landscaped with a modern artistic touch. Plenty of room for the two of us! We definitely would love to stay again. The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was furnished with everything you could need to cook a great meal!
Susan T. Dec 2018
Beautiful house and setting makes the long and winding road worth it. Very clean, clear instructions,
Blanca H. Nov 2018
This was our second stay in the home. It was even better than we remember it being! We will definitely stay here again in the future!
LESLIE G. Sep 2018
Loved the space, tranquility and the design of the house. Extremely quiet, some reviews may state the house may need some updating, however, in my view it is a very charming glamorous place in the hills.
Sheri R. Sep 2018
Awesome house and property!! This was our second stay at this house and we were slightly disappointed in the cleanliness. While it is very typical to find spider webs on the outside of a coastal home, this house needs to be sprayed for spiders and other creepy crawlers. However, its such a nice place with a cool vibe that we will definitely be back again!! Beds are super soft and comfy!! House is perfect for entertaining or for quite seclusion. The drive isn’t bad considering the marvelous home waiting at the top of the hill. You wont be disappointed!! Just watch out for Mr. Skinny Legs (from our 3 yo daughter Lol).
Clara T. Aug 2018
Gorgeous views from the house. It was a good 20 minutes away from town. A quiet retreat. Lots of cobwebs and spiderwebs and found 2 spiders on our bed. The bathtub upstairs did not drain well. Wish there was a hot tub.
RAY S. Aug 2018
Felt like being on another planet in that it was quiet, tremendous view, no other people, wildlife... WiFi good but not as important as the location.

James A. Jul 2018
I was in town to see friends. I was out everyday till after dark. I wish I would have had more time to enjoy the House. When I come back I will be sure to look this house up!
lisa m. Jul 2018
Wonderful home to relax in and enjoy greenery from every window. Best if you don't mind the 20 min drive to town.
Patricia S. May 2018
Lovely house, serene retreat
Ronald R. Apr 2018
If you’re looking for a place by the beach this is not it. If however you would like to getaway to a secluded location close to the beach (about 20 min.) that has as close to a gourmet kitchen as your likely to find in a rental home.
With room to entertain or to spend time alone to relax this could be as good as it gets in Coos Bay.
Paul and the staff were responsive when I had an issue and were very professional.
I would come back

Richard W. Jan 2018
Beautiful place!
Ruth A. Jan 2018
Really great away. Really great kitchen and home to cozy up in. Other rentals should take a page from this host’s book. jB
Tim & Jo Ann N. Dec 2017
This house is a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle. Great facility and wonderful music system.
Joan M. Nov 2017
There was no railing on the stairs. Had to be very careful going down.
Keith P. Nov 2017
We stayed at Forestridge for our much-needed vacation. We booked three nights, but wanted more! This home is more than wonderful. We immediately felt at home with its cathedral-like ceilings, warm leather couches, and downy-soft bed. The rolling hills greeted us each morning shrouded in an ethereal mist. We enjoyed the soaking tub, elaborately stocked kitchen, and ample natural lighting. This will be a sanctuary for us whenever we can make it back. Thank you for opening your home to us - and allowing us to make it our own!
Anna F. Oct 2017
This delightful home was a perfect retreat for my husband and I. The serenity, breathtaking views, and well appointed kitchen were high points for us. Private and peaceful. We plan on returning to this home during our next vacation!
Philbern B. Sep 2017
if you want a place to just relax this is it. we really enjoyed the place because it is very quiet and easy to just kick back and enjoy the mountain top. We saw deer and elk along the road, watched the squirrels and chip monks. 7.2 miles from town.
Rick T. Sep 2017
A review I read said it was "a step above"...at least! It was grand driving up the curvy driveway to the artistic masterpiece on the side of the hill. Brilliantly laid out place. Everything is a couple notches better than the average rental but the most striking thing to me was the subtle creative artistic brilliance that permeates every inch of this place. Caught myself staring at the beautifully decorated bookcase - perfect in its chaos. Simply priceless experience. Thanks to the owners for sharing this place with the world. -Rick Thomas, San Diego CA
Edward R. Sep 2017
Beautiful home and property. The view from the patio was fantastic. Only criticism would be that there was only one bathroom on the upper level which is located in the private bedroom. Using a Bathroom at night for the other bedroom meant going down 2 flight of stairs. Other than that it was perfect and just a short distance into Coos Bay. Very private and peaceful rental property.
Kristina K. Aug 2017
This is the prefect home to stay in for a quiet relaxing vacation. The patio and view are amazing! We flew our drone in the area and have amazing pics of the house and surroundings.
Matthieu C. Jul 2017
Excellent
Victor A. Jun 2017
Property was very relaxing and quiet, we definitely will come back and stay longer.
Joe T. May 2017
This property is a good value for its seclusion and quiet. We would stay here again.

However, like other previous reviews, we had some similar issues.....No Presto logs. Called property mgmt. and advised that there were no logs. They said to buy my own and they would reimburse me. The thermostat for heating and A/C was a daily mystery. Each day it decided to heat and cool differently than the day before. So, at times we were too hot or too cold in the house. The interior furnishings were high quality and very comfortable.
Manager response:
The property manager has supplied two boxes of presto logs and the thermostat has been reprogrammed so the heating and cooling are more balanced. Thank you.
Marci S. May 2017
We have stayed in this home three times in the last year, and plan to continue booking stays here for the future.
Michele B. Apr 2017
This is our second time staying here, the house and property is so serene and well appointed, now we are so spoiled we don't want to go anywhere else! You will not be disappointed!
Erik E. Apr 2017
If you are hoping for a secluded getaway look no further! Coming from Portland it was a bit of a trek to get down there but after being in the house for 5 minutes it was apparent that the journey was well worth it.

The views were incredible and the house itself was sublime. From the sound system loaded with classic 50's CDs to the floor to ceiling windows it was the most romantic locale for an extended long weekend one could ask for
Kimberly A. Mar 2017
Although a little distance to drive to. It was absolutely amazing with a beautiful view! Very comfortable home and definitely would come to stay here again!
Ben M. Mar 2017
The Forest Ridge Retreat was beautifully furnished and very well maintained. We enjoyed sitting in front of the fire place and watching the snow outside. It was very relaxing. The kitchen was fully furnished with all that we needed. It was the perfect getaway!!
Kathy L. Feb 2017
Beautiful tranquil comfortable paradise
Johnny V. Jan 2017
This house is so beautiful, peaceful, quiet! The property has huge gorgeous trees. We loved seeing the stars twinkling through them at night and the sunrays during the day.
Even though it rained during most of our stay, we were content to enjoy the fireplace and look at the fabulous view!
Karen C. Jan 2017
This was a gorgeous home with wonderful views and sunsets. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!!
Justin M. Nov 2016
We loved it
Hali E. Nov 2016
This house has everything you need to enjoy a quiet retreat up in hills of Coos Bay! The view is absolutely breathtaking. You're only 10 minutes away from downtown Coos Bay.
Ed K. Oct 2016
Its a lovely drive thru the country to get to this wonderful home. What a GREAT spot! We will be staying here again, for sure.
Ronald C. Oct 2016
The house is wonderful if a little bit out of the way.
Fred M. Sep 2016

A quiet, comfortable place to relax for a few days. Very nice views.
Justin L. Aug 2016
Beautiful house with beautiful view. Very private.
Rowena H. Aug 2016
We had a great time away from the hustle and business of our daily lives at home. We enjoyed quietness, privacy, and the cleanliness of this property. The atmosphere and location was very beautiful and serene. We plan on coming back with more of our family and you go crabbing, you cannot beat the cost.
Thank you very much
David S S. Jul 2016
Beautiful home and property. Very relaxing and peaceful.
David P. Jul 2016
Absolutely gorgeous home. I would appreciate coffee and fire logs for the fireplace.
John M. May 2016
A retreat in the woods. Beautiful views and unique house design. Loved it.
Jill B. May 2016
I will def. Come here a few times. It is a little far out, but its a very beautiful, clean home with an amazing outdoor view of the mountains. The whole process starting from check in was really easy. I have stayed in other homes and this one is by far my favorite place. Was very relaxing. And the price was right!
Scott S. Apr 2016
I've been here twice, and what a lovely home. I'm so happy I found this amazing Home on the interweb. I couldn't be anymore excited to come to town because I know I have a retreat awaiting my arrival. You will Not be disappointed with this Home. You may need to bring a few things to do as it does get lonely up there. You could always head into town or enjoy the back patio listening below. The horses and cows, Barely any automobile sounds. Maybe Atv but what a place to call home for a few days!!
Michelle M. Apr 2016
We are actually locals and have stayed at this location three times now! We love the kitchen (fully loaded!!) and the view is breathtaking!

Desia G. Mar 2016
This house is excellent, my guests were very impressed. The only negative comment I have is that I'm bummed that it's not on the market because I would buy it in a second.
Betty P. Mar 2016
Great view of the valley below from the double-tired windows in the 20ft living room on one side of the house with the 3 other sides composed of wood. House was cleaned by a lady who was dedicated to her job. Kitchen was well stocked. Eat-in kitchen plus a large dining table next to the living room. Master bedroom on same level as a queen bed in a loft that included a TV and lounges.
Robin G. Mar 2016
the house was warm and comfortable. The view was great and sitting outside and relaxing was appreciated. The large table was perfect for sewing projects!
The kitchen was fully complemented and easy to work in.
Cody S. Feb 2016
This house was everything we wanted and more. The location was perfect for being away from the bay/beach area. Super clean, easy to locate, we encountered a fallen tree in the middle of the road but the neighbors were there quickly to help cut it up and get it removed. Oh.... I proposed on the patio during the sunset and she said yes!!! Perfect location and we will be coming back for many more visits.
Heather C. Feb 2016
The house was very unique and comfortable! We enjoyed reading books, watching movies, and looking outside at the beautiful, serene view of the valley. The location was very private and we really enjoyed our stay!
Jenner W. Jan 2016
The place is well secluded and has a gorgeous view of the surrounding hills which is relaxing. Upon arrival we found the place had been cleaned and beds made but there were several issues which offset our relaxing getaway. We arrived to a 50 degree cabin with no firewood or presto logs as promised, there were fire starters though. After a few hours we got a hold of the management and he sent someone to bring us 6 presto logs and tried to get the AC unit working. We figuring out a solution once the individual they sent had left. we then found the dish washer was full of dishes and explored the kitchen as we put them away. Later we found both the laundry and washing machine were filled with wet sheets and towels from the previous guests the week before.

Pros and cons, take them as you may.
The place is beautifully located although a bit out of town and offers a wide variety of movies ranging from the 40's to mid 80's. Both beds are high quality with memory foam toppers and the kitchen is extremely well stocked with items. My wife loved that, and there have been some spices left by previous travelers. The wi-fi is ok as well and has enough bandwidth to stream a movie depending on where you are in the house, that's usually how my wife and I like to watch things. The upstairs TV has one HDMI port which we only got to work with the blue-ray player and had no luck with other cables or units like our laptops.

About the AC unit, my suggestions: To get it to work I had to erase all of the scheduled temperatures for the next few days and replace them increment the to the desired temperature over the next two hours. this worked for several days end we woke up one morning in the fifties again and had to repeat the process.
Betty D W. Dec 2015
Not far from Coos Bay. There might be issues of getting in and out in flooding weather, since the road is low, even though the house is on a hill. Surrounded by forest, very private. Good wifi. Bed rooms are upstairs, 16 steps, if that is an issue. Great tub, kitchen, living room and dining areas. Shoes off house.
Christina S. Dec 2015
We couldn't get the heat to work. Place was beautiful, but earned the nickname of the "ice palace."
Manager response:
We are very sorry to see that you were so cold during your stay and will have a technician check the heating immediately! Thank you for choosing Vacasa!
MyLiege H. Oct 2015
This home was amazing. They thought of everything. The setting was secluded and serene.
Laurie M. Sep 2015
Didn't care about an ocean view on the coast since we live in Hawaii with an awesome ocean view. Glad we made that decision. Waking up to the tops of evergreen trees blanketed in fog was a peaceful way to start the day. VERY quiet property! kitchen super well equipped even for a foodie (like me) and the selection of cook books was impressive!
Sheri R. Aug 2015
We have rented several vacation rentals over the years and this place is by far our favorite. Absolutely stunning home and property. Highly recommend!! Please let us know if this house comes up for sale!
C Y. Aug 2015
Your stay is worth the trek from the city center and Charleston beaches . The beds and Linens were luxurious. The house was very clean and organized. Look forward to a future stay
David B. Aug 2015
Peace and quiet amid beautiful surroundings, both inside and out. We couldn't have asked for anything more.
Neva R. May 2015
It was so peaceful and secluded, just what I needed. Love being able to sit outside and see the view and sunset among the pretty trees and flowers. I really liked the keyboard upstairs so I could practice my music. What a nice addition.
Kathy N. May 2015
I loved staying at this home. It is a great alternative to the hotel options when I have to work in the area. this will always be my go-to location when I work in the area! Love it!
Manager response:
Thank you for your great review! We are pleased you enjoyed your stay here and look forward to seeing you again. Thank you for choosing Vacasa!
Laura H. Apr 2015
Great house and view! Expect a bumpy last 2 miles to the house. Had to call for Internet password. Otherwise great place!
Paul B. Apr 2015
Wonderful property quite and well equipped home. We would definitely stay again.
Sharon H. Apr 2015
I prefer to cook my own meals, especially when on vacation and I have the extra time available. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality cookware and gadgets (even pie weights!), often with the exact brand I have at home. I didn't plan anything too elaborate, since often the supplies at a rental are not reliable; next time (I'm sure we will be back!) I can plan on blind-baking pie crusts, or even make an angel food cake.
Vahid J. Mar 2015
The property is great with every thing we needed for cooking, etc. Thank you!
Kimberley D. Mar 2015
We loved our loved stay. Very relaxing and serene home. Can't wait to go again.
Erica T. Mar 2015
Nice and quiet place. The beds were very comfortable. The only suggestion my husband has is to put a flat screen tv above the fireplace.
Dustin S. Dec 2014
We have never stayed in Coos Bay before and this location was absolutely ideal for a Honeymoon get away but we could definitely come back with our son and have a wonderful time.
Talayna H. Nov 2014
This house looked exactly like the pictures..the sunrise from any part of this house was beautiful.only complaint would be the driveway was very dark n kitchen lighting not bright enough..look forward to staying again.
Thad G. Nov 2014
Great place to relax and enjoy the COOs Bay and Oregon Coast area. I highly recommend this property.
David F. Oct 2014
I Had high expectations before selecting this rental. All of my expectations were easily met. Wonderful place to retreat from anything, and just relax. My first experience with VACASA was a positive one. Enjoyed the time spent there.
Dawn S. Sep 2014
We loved the house and the beautiful tranquil view so much we ended up staying an extra day. Would have stayed longer if another day would have been available.

The kitchen is well stocked with any pot, pan or gadget you may need.

We had a little doe come visit us during our stay...came almost up to the window on the patio. Beautiful weather the whole time we were there and some gorgeous sunsets.

We are already looking forward to coming back some day.
Rosemary M. Sep 2014
We had a week of almost perfect weather, the setting was beautiful and secluded but not isolated. Loved the house
