Pet-friendly, waterfront family home with beach access!

This custom-built, three-bedroom Waldport vacation rental is right on gorgeous Alsea Bay, with stunning panoramic views of the bay and ocean! With a Blu-ray player, WiFi, and a large flat screen TV, you'll have entertainment amenities to keep you occupied in case of rainy weather. And on sunny days, you can enjoy a five-minute walk right to the Pacific Ocean, as well as gorgeous water views from inside and out!

Home to a popular crabbing industry, Alsea Bay and Waldport also boasts a sleepy, small-town feel undiscovered by many Oregon Coast travelers. From here, you're only a 15-minute drive away from Newport - visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium or see a show at the Newport Performing Arts Center in Nye Beach, before returning home to your delightful Waldport retreat for a moonlight stroll on the uncrowded beach!

Inside your two-story Shideler House getaway, the spacious and wonderfully designed living room is a great place to watch the sunset or TV (there are cable and a Blu-ray player, as well as a movie library and a Wii). Additionally, you'll have a wood-burning fireplace (bring your own wood) to create the perfect vacation ambiance. For a quiet evening in, you can borrow a book from the vast collection and spend the evening reading, snuggled up by the fire.

The well-equipped kitchen is bright and airy, with a refrigerator, stovetop/oven, dishwasher, coffeemaker and grinder, microwave, and everything you'll need for cooking and baking projects. And when you're ready to sit down to a meal, the dining room table seats six guests for dinner with a view.

This main level also contains the spacious, maritime-themed master bedroom, complete with a king bed, private bathroom, gorgeous water views, and deck access. This outdoor space is a lovely setting for morning coffee, grilling in the late afternoon, or just sitting and gazing out at the water. You'll also have a fire pit on the deck so don't forget to pick up some marshmallows to roast!

Upstairs, in the two bedrooms, you'll find a king bed or two twin beds if you prefer in one and a queen in the other. Both rooms have large closets and water views, with an additional TV and DVD player in one of the rooms. There is also a full bathroom on the upper level (as well as the master bathroom and half bath downstairs). This Waldport vacation home will sleep up to six guests very comfortably for a wonderful Central Oregon Coast escape!

While you're here, you can borrow crabbing and clamming gear and enjoy direct, private access to the bay and beach! And don't worry if you get dirty while out having fun - your Waldport getaway even has a washer and dryer for doing laundry when you run out of clean clothes.

On evenings that you don't feel like cooking, you can head to Azul Mexican Restaurant for a plate of tacos al pastor or local-favorite Carol's Cafe for a hearty, home-made breakfast. You can spend your day beachcombing along the sand or visiting the small handful of shops in town, like restaurants and the beach, many are walkable right from the house! But really, you might find that one of your favorite activities is lounging on the back deck, enjoying the fire pit patio table and taking in a vibrant, colorful sunset.

This Oregon Coast vacation rental right on Waldport's Alsea Bay is a gorgeous vacation getaway for unwinding, exploring the coast, and just taking it easy. With popular activities like river fishing, hiking, and even boating around the bay (kayak and boat rentals can be found right in town), Waldport offers something for everyone.

You can even bring your lovely dog with you for a small nightly fee!

A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

Parking Notes: The driveway fits one vehicle comfortably. Additional cars can park at the Keady Wayside next to the home. No street parking is allowed.

We’ve rented this house three times in the last 9 months. Great location, fully stocked kitchen & beautiful views from both inside & the deck.
Michelle L. Mar 2021
The one disappointment for us, unfortunately, was at the start of our stay. When we arrived at 4:00 the house was still being cleaned and was not available for us until 4:30. I realize the need for additional cleaning time due to COVID but felt that was already accommodated by the strict check-out time. The coffee pot carafe is missing the top so making coffee was an issue.
The host requests you to take your shoes off in the house which makes sense because of all the sand. It would be helpful to have a bench inside the door to accommodate that.
Overall, the house is well equipped for a comfortable stay. It seems hard to beat the location with bay views, beach and walking access to town. The host has also provided some wonderful amenities to enhance your stay between games, books, outdoor seating, and fire table.

Very welcoming
Ronald J. Feb 2021
The location and view were awesome. The property was very tidy, and the house was very clean, well stocked, and organized. The kitchen had everything you could desire. The one thing we found that you may want to consider is that there were no coasters that we could find. “Small Problem”. Excellent layout for two to three couples. We would definitely stay again. Thanks again for making our stay very enjoyable.

The house was very comfortable, clean and super cozy with the great fireplace and a nice beach esthetic, impressive library, generally well-equipped kitchen (bring your own salad spinner, and we always bring our own knives and cast iron pans), and wonderful Alsea Bay views from inside the house and the deck. The small fenced yard made things easy in terms of our dog, and being in town meant a quick trip to Rays Market for anything we needed from the store. Perfect place to be during the cool and quiet time of the year with few people around; would probably stay somewhere out of town during the peak summer season with U.S. 101 a block away and the beach wayside parking lot adjacent to the house. But we recommend for three seasons of the year.

Loved our stay at the Shiedler house Very clean and beautiful setting
Jim A. Oct 2020
Loved the house, amenities, location that made for great trip. Only bummer was Unable to sit on deck during rain storm because no porch overhang. Great place
Stephanie G. Sep 2020
The check out time was at 10 which is not the standard. Cleaning lady showed up 30 before and waited outside house and we felt so much pressure to leave early. Vacasa even texted me at 8am that day and asked if we can check out early and if we do then to follow a link to a website. Who does that? We paid a ton of money to stay there for a week. Vacasa is terrible property manager. They had the AC cranked on in the house and we could not turn it off. Also they left two dish detergent packs and two rolls of paper towels that were so small. Had to go buy supplies and the house did not even have tinfoil to cook on. Vacasa is terrible. Stay away.
Manager response:
Hi, Stephanie! We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any confusion regarding check-out. We have changed our check-out time to 10am during COVID-19 to give our cleaners more time to thoroughly sanitize between guests. We have verified housekeeping arrived at the check-out time and do not ask our guests to leave earlier than 10am. Again, we apologize for misunderstanding and hope to have a chance to impress you in the future. Thank you!

The home was clean and well equipped with all kitchen appliances and dishes. Having the deck in the front was enjoyable siting in the morning for coffee. I would rent it again.
Jim M. Aug 2020
The view, the amenities, the comfort, the location. However, as a Beaver-born family, the Duck-colored cornhole game was merely tolerable—but fun to play while watching the beach and the bay.
William A. Aug 2020
the space, location, views, and deck.
Andrew S. Jul 2020
We loved our stay at the Shideler House. The house is perfectly located on the water and steps from public beach access, which was critical for us with two small children. The house has every cooking utensil, plate, bowl that you could ever need. We will certainly consider staying here again, next time with crab traps in tow!
Nancy K. Jun 2020
The Shideler House is filled with light, even on cloudy days! The many skylights and beautiful water facing windows fill the home with light and peace, making this the perfect place to relax and recharge in these trying times. Being able to step out onto the beach or to step into town a block away made this locale perfect for a car-free, as well as carefree, vacation. Visiting with the many sea lions and seals who populate the bay and pop up to say hello to you are a delightful bonus! This home has every amenity you could want including an amazing library for infinite browsing on lazy afternoons. The home and deck are beautifully furnished offering many opportunities to relax in style.
Tracey D. Mar 2020
beautiful windows with view of river and sunsets over the ocean
Aaron S. Feb 2020
Nice house that is very well equipped with great views of the bay and beyond. We lucked out in being there during a 'King Tide' sequence that was associated with a storm surge that gave us a ring side seat for some awesome wave action that closed sections of Hwy.101 and sent logs, rocks and other debris across the road just south of the house.
CHRIS A. Dec 2019
Very warm and inviting home. Wonderful views.
Andrea P. Aug 2019
Sparkling clean, huge windows, and the beach was available every day. The layout was spacious and comfortable. Thank you!
Jason L. Aug 2019
We arrived at the house and found it to be very clean, welcoming and comfortable. We found all the tools, then some, for preparing and serving food, as well as a few miscellaneous dry seasonings. When we reported an issue with the microwave, someone came by the same day and delivered a new one.

Comfort: 9 (Public parking lot next door)
Noise: 8 (You may hear a little bit of traffic).
View 10 (Watch seals, squirrels, seabirds and the fishermen on the bay).
Ammenities: 10 (Full kitchen, books, games, TVs, a few items for fishing, crabbing, etc).
Value: 9.

This house was wonderful. It is well stocked and perfectly located. We really enjoyed our family getaway.

5 stars for:
Location/views: the sweeping views from the Alsea Bay Bridge to the crashing surf at the river mouth are spectacular. The rhythm of the tide, which exposes and hides the sand shoals, evokes a hidden internal clock in ourselves; walking distance to shops and eateries is perfect; at low tide you can walk the beach from the house to the ocean beach.
House setup: the combination of bedrooms and bathrooms is perfect for a small group; the large kitchen/dining/living area with windows is open and beautiful and very usable and comfortable.
The Kitchen: every time we wished the kitchen had a certain tool, we found it! This is unusual for vacation rentals. (Note: we never found a carrot/potato peeler - the single missing item.)
Overall: one person in our party said it is the very best beach rental ever; none of us could disagree.
Wendy M. Oct 2018
A group of friends and I rented the Shideler House for the weekend and had a great time. It was perfect for our plan of crabbing on the bay, right from the house, paddling in and out whenever we wanted right from the deck. The open floor plan and lots of windows also made it a great place to hang out, cook and enjoy the expansive views of the bay. The house was clean and the kitchen well-stocked, providing everything we needed for a great time. Thank you!
Tim H. Aug 2018
This gem in Waldport has everything you need for the perfect Oregon coast getaway. The house is well appointed with ample kitchenware, towels, chairs, fire pit, grill and much more. We had the chance to spend a long weekend and completely fell for the location - we look forward to returning again!
Penelope H. Jul 2018
The house was very comfortable and had a great view. The beds were a little subpar, but overall it was a great time.
Stacey M. Nov 2017
Kitchen was nicely equipped. Bright and beautiful home. Loved being able to see the sea lions swim by the home. Will stay here again.
Larry W. Sep 2017
Three adult siblings spent several days in late summer here. We have never found a house to be better equipped for cooking. Everything we might have needed (and more) was available. This is a spacious, clean house that is comfortable and accommodating.
Roger A. Sep 2017
I wasn't so sure I would want to be on the bay versus the ocean, but it turns out the bay is a fabulous spot. The wildlife viewing is amazing, everything is constantly changing with the tide all day and night. The beach area is perfect for kids to play at. We also enjoyed some of the hikes in the area. The fire pit was so lovely to relax around at night. Thanks for sharing your lovely home.
Sandra V. Jul 2017
Tons of parking in lot right next to house. Easily holds a large group. If you are not wanting to hike over rocks to get to water there is an easy walk to stairs a few minutes away.
Store your bikes etc in garage (lots of room) as apparently theft in the area is an issue.
We loved our stay here. Especially kayaking with the seals!
Fred S. Jul 2017
House was clean and the furniture was very comfortable.
They had a raft which we all used.
Elizabeth M. Jun 2017
This is the second time we have stayed at the Shideler House and we have enjoyed it very much both times. It is well located, well maintained and fully equipped. The view from the living/dining room is truly stunning.

We definitely would return and would highly recommend it.
Alex C. Jun 2017
The Shideler House offers amazing views of the bay and family friendly amenities. This house accommodates families with small children (toys, family friendly movies, etc.). Waldport is a small town but a good launching point for the Sea Lion caves down south and is just a short drive to Newport to the North. We really enjoyed watching the Bay Lions (hundreds of them) sun themselves each day on the sandbars at low tide. Our favorite meal in Waldport was right up the street at the Hilltop Bistro (try the Dungeness Crab Eggs Benedict).
Cara F. Apr 2017
Our family went to this beautiful home for spring break. Our kids ages are 14,13 and 9. All of them had a great time. There are a ton of fun games, wifi and a lot of activities to do in the house when the weather is drizzly. The people in town are very friendly and informative. We had a great time and would be happy to go again!
Wayne C. Apr 2017
We spent four days at the house with our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren at the end of March and early April. Everyone was impressed with the view and how close we were to nearly everything in Waldport. The house was clean, well-stocked and comfortable. But bring slippers because the tile floors can get cold. We had a memorable four days and would definitely consider renting the house again.
Jacquelyn E. Dec 2016
We came for Thanksgiving and though the weather was not excellent most of the time, this was a marvelous house to hunker down in during the storms and it's proximity to the water made it easy to take advantage of the ocean during the rare times the storm let up.
John L. Oct 2016
While the house is located on the bay and not the ocean, it was a very comfortable and relaxing spot to spend several days. The house is well maintained and set up to meet just about every expectation. Kitchen was well stocked, TV had links to Netflix, YouTube and much more, and the beds were very comfortable. The house is right on the bay with great views from the rear deck. Fun to watch the seals and for the great sunset on our one sunny day (hey, it is the Oregon coast). Only thing missing would be a hot tub.
Heather S. Oct 2016
This property has a beautiful view of the Alsea bay. It's fun to watch people fish and to view the birds and other wildlife. You have to walk around the front of the house to access the beach, which is unfortunate. There also isn't much beach unless it is low tide. It is right next to highway 1, although not noisy. The house was clean and has nice furnishings, except needs upgrades on the beds.
Jim T. Sep 2016
Great views, well stocked kitchen, clean house and the house is in very good condition. This is a great house for being inside or out. The neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors are very nice.
Jan W. Sep 2016
What a great house. There are too many things to list on why we really enjoyed it. We will be back! Probably soon...
Jack M. Jul 2016
This house was perfect for our family. Fabulous views, big open kitchen, close to everything in Waldport. Could not ask for a better location and will definitely be returning in the future.
Chris K. Mar 2016
We really enjoyed the location, the view and the house. The only issue was a couple leaks in the roof.
Manager response:
We are currently looking at solutions for the leaks and want to apologize for the inconvenience they caused.
Nancy W. Feb 2016
We loved this property! The views of the bay and bridge are awesome. Very close to just about anything and with the park right next door we felt like we had the entire bay to ourselves. We will definitely come back to this property!
Ronda C. Sep 2015
The house was wonderful. Just like home with everything you could ever need.
the beach was neat at low tide. Sunset beautiful. We would stay there again.
Veronique V. Aug 2015
We recently spent a week at the Shideler House with our adult kids and their partners. The set up was ideal. They had the upstairs rooms with their own bathroom and we had our private space on the main floor with access to the deck and own bathroom. The house is wonderfully light and cheery and the view from the deck is spectacular. We enjoyed family cooking every night and the fully equipped kitchen and outside grill made that a great experience. The house is perfectly located and there is a lot to explore within an hours drive. We also did a lot on foot: walk to the beach, the port, the store. The neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors friendly. The house has everything you could possibly need or want, even a basket of beach towels. Our son really enjoyed testing out the clamming tools.
The house exceeded our expectations in every way and we are really grateful to the owners for sharing it.
John C. Jun 2015
We were thrilled with this lovely vacation home! It was light and airy and well stocked with everything we could have asked for - dishes, cooking utensils, games, linens. the beds were very comfortable, and the outdoor fire pit was an unexpected bonus. Best of all were the spectacular views from the all of windows overlooking the bay.
Robert T. Jun 2015
The views are spectacular! The kitchen is furnished with every kind of cooking dish, pan, utensil you could ever need. The close proximity to stores, restaurants and sights are great as you can walk to just about everywhere you want to go. If you're looking for a quiet place to just relax, the Shideler House is THE place. We're already looking forward to our next visit.
Manager response:
We're thrilled that you enjoyed your stay. This wonderful riverfront getaway truly has it all, and it's fantastic to hear that you were able to take advantage of the home's numerous amenities and great location. Hope to see you again soon!
Christina P. Apr 2015
This house was a wonderful place to stay. Even though it was close to Hwy 101, we didn't hear the traffic at all. The house was extremely comfortable and we loved watching the water in the bay as well as being able to see the ocean at the end of the bay. Looking forward to going back again.
Lynn S. Apr 2015
I joined four of my close women friends here for a weekend of relaxation. Shideler House did not disappoint! It was well equipped, clean, welcoming and warm, and is situated in a quiet street with lovely views of the water. We found everything we needed, and nothing out of place. We all truly enjoyed the warmth and personality of the house, and will be visiting again!
Melissa M. Feb 2015
We had such a wonderful stay! The house was in great condition, everything was clean and just a nice layout to the house. Loved having the water right behind us. Will definitely look for this house on our next visit!
Manager response:
Thank you for the kind words. We are glad you enjoyed the water behind you and look forward to serving you again in the future!
Anne W. Jan 2015
The house is conveniently located to both the beach and downtown. View of the water was spectacular.
Annette L. Dec 2014
Waldport is a sleepy little town, and well worth the convenience to both Newport and Yachats. We got to take great walks on the bay all the way to the breaking waves on the ocean at low tide, walked around the corner to local food, and nights by the fire were great!
