Quiet, dog-friendly cabin close to the beach with tons of character!
This lovely Otter Rock vacation rental has everything you will need to have a relaxing and memorable beach getaway. With space for up to four guests, a dog-friendly attitude, and beach access just down the road, you will fall in love with this charming cabin!
Otter Rock is a quiet seaside town located about 10 minutes north of Newport, and is particularly popular with surfers and anyone visiting one of the greatest marvels of the coast: Devils Punch Bowl. This home is in a quiet, wooded area a few blocks from beach access, and is just a quick drive from larger cities.
This cozy cottage has a warm and welcoming feeling, with knotty wood walls and details. Original artwork graces the walls, adding to the overall artistic atmosphere of the house.
Inside, you will feel right at home. A sitting room has some chairs that you can arrange around the wood stove if the weather is a little chilly. Just past this sitting area is a full kitchen, which will be perfect for cooking up filling meals for everyone. There are all the basic appliances, and even a few fun extras such as a blender in case you feel like whipping up some fresh fruit smoothies (or a round of margaritas)! A dining room table has seats for four, so you and your guests can sit down together and enjoy a hot breakfast before heading out for the day.
There is also a living room, where you can nestle up on the leather sofa and watch some TV on the flatscreen. While you're here you will have cable access, as well as board games and books that you're welcome to borrow. With WiFi available throughout the home, you can even stream your Netflix account and snuggle up for a movie night. There is even a convenient washer and dryer in the corner, which will surely come in handy after a few days of exploring the coast and playing on the beach.
This home features a full bathroom with a tub/shower combination, so you can have your choice between a quick morning shower and a relaxing evening bubble bath. Both bedrooms are located upstairs. The first contains a cozy full-size bed, and the second offers two twin-size beds. All in all, up to four guests will be very comfortable here. You may even bring your furry family members with you - up to two dogs are welcome, though please note that a nightly fee will apply.
Since this home is just a few blocks east of beach access, take a quick walk down to the uncrowded beach. There you can search for sea life in tidepools, beachcomb, stroll along the sand, or even go surfing. Devils Punch Bowl State Park is just at the end of the street, and is a fantastic place to enjoy a picnic, marvel at the panoramic views of the ocean, and watch the famous Devils Punch Bowl itself. Otter Rock has few businesses, including the Flying Dutchman Winery that is worth a visit and a Mo's Restaurant that is open in the summertime.
Elsewhere along the Central Oregon Coast you will find plenty of activities to keep you busy! Newport, about a 10-minute drive south, offers a huge variety of wonderful restaurants, cute antique shops, easy beach access, and a famous aquarium. If you drive north, instead, you will pass charming Depoe Bay (the whale-watching capital of the coast) and reach Lincoln City in about 25 minutes. The popular Lincoln City offers great souvenir shops, a fun casino, and a lake where you can go fishing or boating. With several fantastic coastal cities nearby, gorgeous natural attractions, and plenty of adventure within easy reach, you will have no trouble finding ways to stay busy here!
The house was cozy and warm, full of beautiful art. There were games, books, puzels, colored pencils, There was everyting we needed as far as kitchen items. Beds were comfy and we were only a couple minute walk to the beach. It was quiet and clean. It actually could not have been better.

We had a wonderful time staying at this charming cottage. My child was attending a camp at the coast, and so we turned it into a mini-vacation. The beach is just a few blocks away, and the house offered everything we needed!

One of the all time best places i have ever stayed on the oregon coast. Clean, super comfortable and a short walk to the bluff and surfing. Will definitely be back for a longer stay. The best!

First of all we loved the elegant, relaxed and very comfortable home. It had that mix of country and class with all of the art work. Had the necessities needed for cooking ,showering and sleeping. The back yard was nice for barbecuing, but could have had more TLC and a fence because animals are allowed. I would like to pattern my new home after the floor plan of the vacation home. It is simple but elegant. What I didn't like was the cobwebs on the lights in and outside as well as the patio furniture and outside doors. The drinking glasses were dusty with a film on them so I washed them all except the very top shelf as were the pots and pans. I vacuumed on the second day there and got a half full canister of hair and dirt. What I suggest is that whomever cleans the home should be more aware of what needs more care. The Windows and skylights could use cleaning also. But with all that said I absolutely loved our stay and will be back again. It was hard to leave it felt like home.

Great privacy yet still close to everything.

The house and all it is equipped with make for a really comfortable, cozy, sweet place to stay. The house is in a great, quiet location. The beaches are fantastic, and close to a lot of options for views and activities. I would definitely return for another stay. Only problem, self-initiated, was being locked out having gone for a star gazing drive without the house key. Vacasa staff was really helpful, however, the backup key box, was empty. Trevor, who was the maintenance contact, was quick to respond, very helpful and things eventually got sorted out, but it was a bit of a snafoo at the end of a wonderful trip.
Although we are sorry that you were locked out of the home, we are so glad that we were able to have the situation sorted out quickly! We hope to host you again soon!

We really enjoyed our stay at Laura Mar Artists Retreat.
The house was stocked with everything we needed and was super clean. Felt like we were staying in a cabin. I liked checking out all the paintings . Otter Rock is a nice hidden gem.

My wife, 14yr old son and dog stayed a couple of nights here and it was great. Just the right size and the walk to the beach was great. A close drive to Newport and Depot Bay and the beach is just a walk away. The driveway had plenty of room for our big truck and the street was pretty quiet but could be busier in the peek tourist season. The kitchen was well furnished and everything in the house worked well. We would definitely stay here again.
James C.Oct 2018
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cabin. The kitchen is well equipped, and the wood stove really adds to the rustic atmosphere. It's just a short walk down to the beach. It's close enough to 101 to be convenient to go to Newport or Depoe Bay, but far enough away that you don't hear the traffic. We would definitely stay here again.

Cozy, warm and cascading with fascinating, quality artwork, we enjoyed our four days there! A handy location between coast towns yet quiet and homey. We found nearly all our necessities yet would suggest repairing dimmer switch in tv room, supply a wine opener, non-stick fry pan and lids for pots and pans. We’d absolutely return ❤️
John M.Aug 2018
This is a small cabin that has been modified into a cozy little artist retreat. It is close to the beach. I love staying here with my wife for a surfing vacation. Perfect for two people.
Elizabeth B.Aug 2018
The house is clean and we'll maintained, we enjoyed our stay.
Hannah C.Aug 2018
The house is just a couple of blocks from Devil's Punchbowl and lovely sandy beach with tide pools. The house itself is cute - nice artwork etc, but doesn't seem quite finished. There is an odd empty room separating the two upstairs bedrooms and no lower cupboards in the kitchen. The beds were really nice and comfortable, all the appliances worked fine & we had a great time.
Nate T.Aug 2018
Beautiful, comfortable, fun home. Our minds were blown by how smart the automatic running lights on the stairs are. Would love to come back some time.
Scott H.Jun 2018
This is the second time we stayed in this cabin. It is cute and functional and has everything you need. Close proximity to beach access for Otter Rock. The only complaint are that the beds are a little uncomfortable.
Patricia S.Jun 2018
Cozy, quaint, comfortable, and clean describe this wonderful retreat. The cabin is fully equipped with all the necessities needed for an enjoyable stay. Although it is nestled in a beautiful wooded area, it is close to shopping, restaurants, stores, and lovely scenic vistas. Since my daughter is a photographer, stunning photo opportunities were abundant. Who could ever forget the endless hours of entertainment provided by the whales in Otter Rock and Depoe Bay? We will definitely return to this delightful dwelling.
Lawrence S.Jun 2018
Cozy and comfortable cabin! Great location to the beach and devils punchbowl, and the crest loop was amazing.
Adrianne J.Apr 2018
We loved our time in the cabin so much they have decided they want to do their birthdays at the beach every year. Its located super close to some of our favorite beach spots and shopping places. The cabin was really perfect for us
Michael L.Apr 2018
We loved the apartment. The location is great (quiet and beautiful), the amenities were nice. Having a wood stove was awesome. Only complaint we had was the queen bed, three nights was as much as we could handle on that thing.
Andrea N.Apr 2018
My cousin and I had a girls weekend at the coast and didn’t want to leave the cabin! We loved all of the art work and how welcoming it felt. Also, it is very close to beach access. Highly reccommend.
mandy f.Mar 2018
Perfect place for a relaxing weekend.
Denise V.Feb 2018
This cottage is way bigger inside than it looks. Plenty of room for friends or family. I will definitely return.
James J.Jan 2018
It is so great to find a family friendly affordable home that takes dogs too!! We loved it and hope to return soon.

Great house in great location!
Brandon H.Nov 2017
Our family of four spent the week of Thanksgiving Break at this hidden gem on the Oregon coast. We're all surfers so we wanted this location as it is a short (2-3 minute) walk to the Otter Rock surf break at Beverly Beach. This house has the BEST location on all of the Oregon Coast with a surf shop, that has rentals if needed, a few minutes away and a winery right next to the surf shop. Win-win!
Despite our planning and truckload of surfboards, the weather was a mess all week and the surf was horrible with no shape with a horrendous rip, so we spent the week walking the local beaches, exploring the nearby tide pools and skating the local skateparks. It was great! In the evening, our family would enjoy movie night in the outstanding home theater room after fixing dinner in the wonderfully equipped and spacious kitchen. This is the house I would buy if I wanted to live at Otter Rock!
All in all, this is a wonderful vacation house with all the beach amenities if you are a surfing/beach family looking for a great location and quick and easy access to one of the best surf breaks in Oregon.
We'll be back!
James M.Nov 2017
Cute,clean, and tidy.
Sara G.Oct 2017
We had a lovely mother-daughter weekend here! The cottage is so warm and cozy, with tons of handmade art on the walls and quilts on the bed. Nice selection of books and puzzles, too. I would highly recommend and look forward to coming back!
Veronica T.Sep 2017
My husband & I(& our dog)stayed here for my birthday vacation and really enjoyed it! Area was quiet & not a far walk to ocean. Loved all the interesting art work & nice neighbor lady. The upstairs ceilings are low, could be an issue for a tall person, but not one for me. Hopefully you will be as lucky as we were & get to watch all the whales feeding at Devil's Punchbowl. It was great!
Bruce And Ella R.Sep 2017
Happy energy place, conveniently located close to everything on the central Oregon coast. Easy parking. On the main road yet very quiet and serene. Prime location for the surf beach to the South of Devil's Punch Bowl and to the marine gardens on the other side to the North. Lovingly restored and furnished. Clever kitchen with open plan that worked well for our family of four. Artistic touches throughout including vibrant quilts and fiber arts, unique artwork on walls. Gorgeous burl wood counters. Nice spot for a nap in the television/game room with the sun streaming in through the window and fuschias blooming in the garden outside. Fun neighborhood to walk and explore. Fantastic beach. Appreciation that the owners have kept the nightly fee reasonable. Great base camp if you're into the great outdoors. Cozy spot if you're into a a few nights of retreat, big stash of books with tea. Highly recommended.

A Quiet, Cozy Cottage within short walking distance of two beautiful beaches with tidal pools and a scenic attraction (Devil's Punch Bowl).
The cottage has plenty of places to stretch out and relax whether it is indoors or outdoors. The cottage provides you with a variety of artwork from paintings to beautifully quilted blankets.
If you like to dine in, it has a full size kitchen with the basic necessities to cook and a dining room to enjoy your meals.
Connie N.Aug 2017
Would stay here again
Elizabeth A.Aug 2017
Wonderful cottage, there is plenty to do in the surrounding area
Johnathan M.Jul 2017
This is an excellent small cabin for your surf / beach getaway. Best really for a couple or maybe 4 people - it's an very pretty small cabin a few blocks from Otter Rock beach.
Maureen F.Jul 2017
We rented this house for a weekend, but wished we could stay longer! It is just a short block from a beautiful stretch of beach. The house itself is very welcoming, with comfortable furniture, quilts everywhere, and a nice wood stove that we used even in July on a chilly night. Otter Rock is very close to Newport for great restaurants and fish markets. From the overlook at the end of the street (above the beach) we watched whales in the water right in front of us. We hope to return soon for a longer stay.
Joseph W.Jul 2017
Cute space, has that cabin-cute feel. Tall people, AVOID this space. The cleaning people overlooked the importance of the garbage cans inside and out; intolerable odor. Oh, by the way, bring your own toilet paper if you stay more than 2 days.
We apologize for the oversight with the trash can; housekeeping has fixed this. Thanks!
Christopher P.Jun 2017
We stayed at Laura's cabin this weekend when the temperatures exceeded 100 degrees in Portland. It was a great respite. The cabin is adorable, clean, simple, and well-maintained. The Netflix was a great bonus and the place stayed cool, even with the 80+ degree temperatures.
The real draw of the place is the location though. Otter Rock has a great beach and it was relatively uncrowded. It's just a short walk (maybe 5 blocks) and you're on the beach. Our husky mix loved it and so did we. We would definitely stay again!

Please feel free to combine all my comments and sentiments!!

Spencer H.May 2017
The rental was very nice and perfect for our stay. The ceiling was low in the bedroom and you had to watch your head when going to bed. That was the only negatuve about the rental. It was very peaceful and secluded.
Todd R.Apr 2017
It is a very nice cottage with an awesome location! The beds were comfortable and it included all the amenities. The Vacasa staff I worked with were courteous and kind. I will definitely recommend Vacasa to my friends.
Merlyn A.Apr 2017
This cabin is super cute and very comfortable. It's a shame there is no view of the ocean.
Roger M.Apr 2017
Overall we were very satisfied with our recent stay at the Laura Mar Artist Retreat. The home's location was excellent to the surrounding area. Home was nicely furnished, decorated and comfortable. The only drawbacks were the limited headroom in the bedrooms and the narrow, some what steep staircase leading up to the bedrooms.
Alissa N.Feb 2017
This was a pleasant escape for my son and I for a few days. The downstairs is spacious and very comfortable. Upstairs is a little cramped, especially if you are tall! Overall, a pleasant experience.
Pam R.Oct 2016
This cabin is a lovely little and yet roomy clean and comfortable place to enjoy a coast visit. It does not have a coast view but is a very short hike to the Devils Punch Bowl and a short drive to nearby towns we love to visit. I would definitely stay here again! Loved it!
Laura A.Oct 2016
We plan to use Vacasa in the future. It was the perfect experience!!!!
Patty B.Oct 2016
Excellent cabin, simple, decorated to my taste, loved all the art work and quilting.
Clean, and comfortable..I would rent this cabin again for sure! LOVED THE CABIN AND LOCATION!!!
Jean-Paul Z.Oct 2016
We fully enjoyed our stay at Laura Mar's Retreat. The cabin is extremely cozy especially during stormy days at the coast which we experienced over our stay. The detailed artistry and craftsmanship of the house is particularly impressive. The neighborhood is very peaceful and the beach a couple of blocks from the home is great for long walks. We're looking forward to our next visit to Laura Mar's.

We were so happy with our stay, the cabin was everything pictures let on it would be and it had everything you could need for a stay at the coast. It's central location between Depoe Bay and Newport not only had spectacular views, but was an easy trip to either town. I absolutely love the coast but hadn't been back in quite a few years. My husband and I decided for our fifth anniversary we would take a belated honeymoon and since we both love to cook and wanted a place where we could relax in the evenings we decided on a vacation rental and I am so glad we chose this one. I loved checking out all the unique artwork and being able to wake up to the sound of waves hitting the shore right down the road. We wanted to pick somewhere that was big enough that we could go back with our children in the future. Originally we thought that would be a few years down the road. Well not anymore after getting there and seeing the loft room they would get to share, the yard for them to play in and all the wonderful beach access right down the road we decided our children would be in heaven there and we can't wait that long. We had planned on taking them to Yellowstone next summer, but before even leaving the cabin we had nixed those plans and will be back next summer kids in tow for a week long family vacation. I can't wait to take them back and let them explore a beach for the first time. I highly recommend the Artist's retreat! My only regret being I didn't inquire about purchasing any of the fun quirky art available at the home!!
A D.Sep 2016
Very quirky little cabin but very charming. Great location, walking distance to Devil's Punch Bowl, Mo's West and a local winery's tasting room. Our only suggestion to other travelers is to make sure you bring EVERYTHING you need. The pantry had no supplies. There wasn't even a try of ice cubes in the freezer. All in all a very nice place though.
Jennifer G.Sep 2016
We loved staying here. It was clean, cozy, and within walking distance to the beach. A couple of notes - if you have trouble with stairs or are really big/tall then you might want to pass (as the upstairs had low ceilings and small beds). But we had a great time. The place was clean, which is a big plus. And no mold or mildew issues or weird smells. All in all a charmer that I'd stay in again!
Katharine M.Aug 2016
We really loved the cabin, the paintings and quilts were beautiful, and it had everything we needed. The location is great, close to Mo's Seafood and the beach.
Tina M S.Aug 2016
What a fantastic cute wonderful cabin walking distance to the devil's Punchbowl a winery and Moe's Newport and Lincoln City are both within 10 miles wonderful place
Casey S.Aug 2016
We really enjoyed the location in-between Newport and Depoe Bay, and the house itself is just adorable! Great ambiance, everything we needed to be comfortable (minus the terribly uncomfortable beds - would have been okay for a night or two, but for a week-long stay it was very uncomfortable by the end of the stay). Highly recommend and will stay again!
Cameron C.Jul 2016
We absolutely love this cabin - just the right size, clean, cozy, well stocked and comfy. We regret we didn't book more nights.
Katherine A.Jul 2016
This place was excellent!
ELIZABETH L.Jun 2016
We picked this place as it was midway between friends in Depoe Bay and Newport, and just down the street from friends at Otter Rock. It happened to correspond with a great garden tour in the Otter Rock area on Sunday. The cabin is well appointed with just enough room for two (or four) guests with lovely art work and quilts. It's dog friendly and quiet . . . Great place for some R&R.
Emily N.Jun 2016
Great beach access; pretty neighborhood.
Jill N.May 2016
Gari K.Apr 2016
We loved the house, and the location was good for going to either Lincoln city or Newport. We would definitely refer our friends and family.
Brandon S.Mar 2016
Great place to stay new furniture and everything was clean. My friends and I spent three days at the place and we had everything we needed
Tyson C.Mar 2016
We loved this house and very close to beach and short drive to Lincoln city for shopping or casino and about 5 min to Newport. Great location away from the crowds but close to enjoy it all.
Wilson L.Mar 2016
The location of the property was good, walking distance to the beach and the lookoout (with a wine bar and Mo's restaurant close by). The property itself has sort of an awkward layout. Converted attic into bedroom with very low ceiling, had to duck every time you want to get in or out of bed. Location of the fireplace did not allow for a cozy hang out, with random furniture laid out in a sitting area. Found it difficult to relax in the evenings without a central location that didn't feel too claustrophobic.
I stayed with my two children (4&8) and it was delightful, perfect, lovely and we all loved it. The home was well appointed, tastefully done, comfortable and the location is fantastic. We really enjoyed the beauty and beach at Otter Rock. It was so nice being close to Newport and Depoe Bay for activities but then to have the home be more peaceful and secluded. We wish we could have stayed much longer and will be back! One of our new favorites.
The biggest suggestion for the home is to get full/significant window coverings for the bedrooms/skylights upstairs. Challenging to have no coverings in sleeping rooms, especially with children. Two minor points would be to add a spatula to the utensils and a towel hook or ring near the sink in the bathroom for a hand towel.
Heather B.Jul 2015
We loved everything about the house, it was clean, conveniently located, quaint, and close to the beach. The yard and bbq were great amenities!
Rebecca F.Jul 2015
Perfect walking distance to beach and wine tasting. Close to Lincoln City and newport. Really nice cookware but could use some child cups,dishes.... nicely decorated and surrounded with art of many mediums! House has good energy!!!!
Georgina L.May 2015
The cottage was really cute. We enjoyed all the quilting and personal touches such as the window coverings and art work around the house. The house came with everything we needed in the kitchen and the TV room as well as games. The place was impressive and comfortable. We also really enjoyed the wood fireplace. The down stairs is quite roomy. The bedrooms upstairs have vaulted ceilings so there was some hunching to maneuver around the bedrooms at times. I can see some tall people having problems moving around the upstairs but my husband who is 6 feet tall wasn't bothered by it during our stay. Overall this place is clean and comfortable and a close walk to the beach. We were very happy with our stay.
