What a hike! 1 mile, uphill to be exact:-). I was a bit worried my kids would whine and complain, but they did great! The home is just perfect! Hot shower (not that you’ll need that), beautiful views, wonderful bird watching, tranquil, great sleeping arrangements.....what else can I say....it is completely screened, but open so you can hear all the sounds of the jungle! Everything you need, but food. If you choose to bring your own food, plan to backpack it in, or order a bag of food for you to make yourself from the FB garden....or better yet, make the hike to community meals and enjoy some of the greatest meals in Costa Rica....even my kids loved it and the fresh fruit juices! Make your way around FB and enjoy crystal clear swims in the river and grab a guide for all the creatures you’ll see. Bring your own semi-high hiking boots or rubber boots....you will need them to safely explore the jungle with all the creatures that live there. Grab a headlamp for each person and maybe even a flashlight. Don’t forget your hydroflask! What a great way to be fully in nature, unwind and relax.

This place was amazing! Everything was as pictured. The community was warm and open. The only thing it could have used was a ceiling fan. I LOVED the hike to and from base camp. Yes, it was 20 minutes each direction with very, very steep grades. But, after 3 days, it was a breeze.

Wow, where to begin. Staying at Casa Tamandua at Finca Bellavista was an absolutely incredible experience. The property is a few miles off the main road, up a steep and bumpy mountain road (4x4 needed!). We arrived to base camp and were greeted by one of the friendly volunteers who guided us to Casa Tamandua. We knew what we were getting into staying in an off the grid treehouse community so the steep jungle hike with headlamps and backpacks was expected. A word to the wise - pack light and bring boots that cover your ankles! The hike was well worth it. Casa Tamandua was out of this world. Situated deep in the jungle, the 3-story home was unlike any home I’ve ever stayed in. The full wall of screened windows provided a stunning jungle view, and we slept to the sounds of cicadas each night. The kitchen was well appointed with all the supplies needed to cook (we made dinner a few times during our stay), but you can also enjoy a community dinner at base camp for a reasonable cost. Our favorite part of the trip was the river massage, which was easily arranged at base camp. It was probably the most relaxing hour of my life. The people in this community are amongst the most kind, thoughtful, and generous people I’ve ever met. Spending time with them during happy hour and meals was truly a delightful experience that is not soon to be forgotten.

Beautiful jungle retreat with awesome trails and great views. House was awesome, clean and well equipped. Lots of adventures to do but be advised, getting around is exhausted as trails are steep, mixed with heat and humidity make it a challenge for sure. If you pack light and enjoy a physical challenge your have a great time. Getting the food basket was great for us, they gave lots of fresh fruits and veggies that they grow on site, best pineapple I’ve ever had. Thanks for a fun adventure!
