Private cabin close to lagoons, beaches, & the Redwood Parks
With Redwood Park hiking trails close by and beautiful lagoons and beaches right across the road, the adventures are endless from this wonderful logger cabin! Warm up alongside the wood stoves in your cozy living room or formal bedroom, prepare quick snacks or full meals in your unique, full kitchen, eat or play board games at your dining table, or step outside to your front porch or grassy back yard. Fire up the grill for a few summertime treats or just sit by the creek and watch for visiting elk!
What's nearby: The hiking all around you is truly world class - whether through the Redwoods National Park, around the lagoons, the trail from Dry Lagoon to Stone Lagoon along the beaches then through the woods (about five miles round trip), Lady Bird Johnson Grove, Tall Trees, and much more. You can do some of these hikes by just walking out your door - especially the Dry Lagoon to Stone Lagoon one. And for water lovers,, the lagoons offer great fishing, kayaking, canoeing, boating, and sailing. Some visitors enjoy putting in a kayak or canoe at Stone Lagoon and paddling across to the campsite, then hiking to the beach from there.

This cabin was beyond perfect. Highlight of our vacation.
Overall it was great. Could've used another bathroom.
Beautiful location, great time
Nothing short of everything we expected. Our adventures began and ended evey day, comingHOME to our cabin. PRICELESS
We had a great time at the Stone Lagoon Cabin. It was perfect for us. Down a private lane off the main highway and deep in the woods. We were minutes from the Redwoods Forests and down the lane from Dry Lagoon. The elk sometimes hang out right in the lawn! The owners have done a great job making it very miner's cabin with rough cut woods and corrugated tin, but at the same time comfy with deep couches, good beds, and, my favorite, the bent-wood rocker. During our week stay, we found everything we needed right there.
This place is so unique I would recommend it to everyone! It’s 1 mile off the 101 but you feel like you’re deep in the hills. We woke up to elk in the yard both days. The inside of the cabin is so unique it’s difficult to describe, everywhere you look is something different. We would highly recommend it 4 or less people. Just watch out for poison ivy.
Isolated, but with all the amenities... Full kitchen, WiFi, sat TV and two wood stoves for heat. Creek running by 15 feet from bedroom makes this an idyllic escape location. Easy access to all the park locations... Also, Orick general store is 10 minutes away for groceries.
Our trip to N California from Iowa was enhanced greatly by this wonderful cabin. The pictures on the listing are good, but the place in person is so much better! We loved the seclusion, the wood burning stoves and our neighborhood Elk we named Eddie :) We spent our days checking out all the Parks and enjoying the Redwoods, and coming home to this cabin was so relaxing. Everything was as expected and then some.
We had a wonderful stay at the Stone Lagoon rental. The wood burning stoves are plenty warm and toasty, even throughout rainy days and nights. The solitude can’t be beat if that’s what you are looking for in a vacation, however there was enough adventures yo be had close by! Highly recommend :)
Warm, welcoming home that we couldn't wait to get back to at the end of our day's excursions! So many lovely details in this magical place on a quiet road with Elk all around. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay, we've raved to all of our family and friends about it!!!
Truly an amazing place. Very well located. Great owners, well stocked. I really enjoyed my personal retreat! Thank you so very much for sharing this magical place.
Amazing stay at a gorgeous eclectic cabin, loved the wood fired stove and comfy beds! Will be back!
The Stone Lagoon Cabin north of Trinidad fit all our needs and expectations. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, but we were actually just a half mile off 101. Easy access to all the state and national parks. The cabin had wonderful views from all the picture windows. The main bedroom was a great size and the bed extremely comfortable. We loved all the decorating touches except for the kit fox. It was kind of creepy. LOL The cabin was spacious and yet very cozy. The kitchen was small but very functional. We played horse shoes by the creek one night and my husband grilled every night except one. My husband said this was the best place we had ever rented on our vacations!!
A secluded cabin with everything we needed. Loved the fact that the wood stove was all ready go with kindling etc. Very quiet and peaceful.
It was great
We loved our stay at this cabin in the woods next to the Redwood Forest. This was a luxury cabin equipped with everything you need and then some and the decor was apropos to the area, giving it a great authentic feel. The hosts were wonderful, welcoming and attentive yet very respectful of privacy. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to visit the redwood forest and have a peaceful getaway.
Amazing cabin...very quaint and cozy
Stone Lagoon cabin awed us from the moment we walked in. The cabin feel is homey, and the decorations are unique. There is one full bathroom that is off the kitchen, a master bedroom on the far end of the cabin, and a full or queen bed (don't quite remember) in the living room. For 4 people, this is perfect. The bathroom is clean and rustic, and the shower has the distinction of having two shower heads on opposite ends of the tub which i have never seen before, but I turned them both on and can now die happy. There are a few steps from the master bedroom to the living room, and from the living room to the kitchen, so be careful wandering around in the dark. The kitchen is a bit tight, with a moveable chopping block obscuring the path to the stove a bit, but it wasn't a problem. You shouldn't have too many cooks in that part of the house anyway. We made use of the two-burner grill just outside the front door, but unfortunately never capitalized on the picnic area 30 yards from the house. Next time. We hiked the James Irvine trail to fern canyon, the redwood creek trail and nearby Lady Bird Johnson grove, and the coastal trail, all trailheads of which were within a 15 minute drive. The cabin is also very close to the Humboldt Lagoons State park, and a paved road leads to a beautiful beach. Thank you for the great vacation!
This was the last stay of our 14 day adventure in CA and we loved the quiet peacefulness of the cabin - more than enough specs for the two of us and could easily have accommodated 4 adults!! Fully equipped and ready for your relaxing comfort - fireplace in the bedroom was a special treat since the nights were cool. The elk were in full force our second day - there were 4 our feeding in the field by the Adirondack chairs!! Thank you for a great stay!!
Stone Lagoon Cabin was a wonderful place to call home for a few days of our stay on the California coast. The cabin itself was warm and inviting, exactly as pictured. It was in a great location for everything we wanted to do, whether it was hiking in Redwood National Park or checking out the local beaches. Very private and quiet, and so fun to see the elk grazing just outside our windows one evening. We hated to pack up and leave. Would highly recommend!!
To be honest I was a little reticent about booking Stone Lagoon, what with the tin walls, but I am so glad I did. It is marvellous, the location the decor, just everything was perfect. Being in the woods, it is nice and quiet and we relaxed from the moment we arrived. It was good to know we needed to buy supplies before arriving, there’s a Safeway in McKinsleyville. We happened to meet Jill when we arrived who is lovely. If you’re heading up to this area, I would absolutely recommend you stay here.
We rented the Stone Lagoon Cabin for HSU graduation weekend. The cabin is small and cozy but is also off the beaten track off a dirt road. The cabin is a unique mish mash of rooms and floors and design but the setting is spectacular with beautiful nature views from every window.
We had the most lovely and enjoyable stay at the Stone Lagoon Cabin. All the comforts of home are at your fingertips. Our only regret was that we only booked 4 nights! I asked my kids and husband to sum up our stay in one word.. they agreed on "magical."
A delightful house in the woods. It’s close to the Redwoods and great hikes, easy to difficult. Literally a stone’s throw to the ocean as well. We are already planning a return trip.
We had a very nice time at the cabin. It is a perfectly quiet and private place to unwind. It is a REAL cabin, and a little rustic which just adds to the charm of the place. perfectly located to enjoy the Redwoods or beaches.
